"The hotel itself is good, and I noticed many foreign guests staying here. I'm giving full marks (5/5) for hygiene and environment. The room was very clean, and the hotel environment was also excellent. The room facilities are neither new nor old, which is understandable given it's an established hotel. However, the service at this type of hotel really lags behind... 1. For such a large hotel, there's no proper hotel WeChat concierge to contact. This became even more frustrating when the room service phone line was busy. 2. Upon check-in, we weren't proactively informed about breakfast times, its location, or Wi-Fi information. Even though we had children with us (and noted it in the booking), no children's amenities were provided in the room. We eventually had to call room service to have them delivered. 3. The hotel only has one delivery robot, which couldn't keep up during peak hours. It took quite a while for takeout to be delivered to the room. 4. Some items in the hotel room felt rather superfluous, such as the in-hotel cultural guide. Perhaps foreign guests would find it more interesting. I suggest the hotel differentiate its target audience. 5. Rooms with bathtubs don't proactively provide disposable bath liners; you have to contact the front desk if you need one. 6. The hotel's own kids' play area is quite small, probably only suitable for children under three. 7. There's a queue and crowd control during breakfast peak hours. Other notes: The hotel's travel photography, Hanfu experience, and Qipao experience require self-booking, as the front desk doesn't make reservations for you, which is a bit inconvenient. There aren't many costume options in the experience areas, but it's okay for a try. The Hanfu studio and travel photography are from the same vendor, while the Qipao studio is a different one, and both services were good."

The Atour Hotel Suzhou railway station north square Bole Shi provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. Seeing Suzhou's sights from this hotel is easy with Suzhou Art Gallery, Suzhou Ancient Canal Cruise (Qimen Wharf) and Suzhou Ancient Canal Cruise (Railway Station Pier) all close by. At the end of a busy day, travelers can unwind and relax in the hotel or go out and enjoy the city. If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards. For guests traveling on business, this hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices.

"Pros: The location is excellent, right by the North Square of Suzhou Station. The room is very spacious, a true 35 square meters, and the king-size room feels like a suite. It even has a washing machine with a dryer, a mini-fridge, and a bathtub. Great value for money. Cons: The facilities are a bit old. The bathroom is small and shows noticeable rust marks, and the walls have signs of aging. There's no air conditioning vent in the bedroom (or at least no air comes out, even though it looks like there is one). While the room temperature stays at 23 degrees Celsius, the lack of air circulation makes it feel a bit stuffy. Being close to the train station, it's a little noisy. There's no master light switch, so turning off all the lights individually is a bit inconvenient. Overall, it's very good value for money and recommended."

Hotel near Guanqian Street Area (Downtown),Suzhou
The Scholars Hotel Suzhou Pingjiangfu (Shuxiangshijia Huisuojiudian Suzhou Pingjiangfudian) is located in the heart of Suzhou old town and handy for visiting the many local attractions and classical Chinese gardens found there. An attractive hotel, it features traditional Chinese-style architecture, courtyards featuring pools of water and sculptured rock. Guestrooms boast contemporary furnishings with traditional touches and all the usual amenities required for a comfortable stay.

"The front desk service was excellent, truly outstanding! I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the young man and young lady who assisted me last night. The five-star rating is purely for them. BUT!!! BUT!!! The hotel's pricing is completely opaque and arbitrary. Booking through Ctrip was even more expensive than the on-site price. After I raised concerns about the price difference, they started making all sorts of excuses, mentioning differences in breakfast inclusion or bundled packages. However, first, there were NO options for this when I booked! No choice for whether I wanted breakfast or not, just one order! One selection! Second, the so-called bundled items in the package, supposedly making up a 'set,' were actually quite misleading: [1] The 'coffee' was just a cup from the front desk's coffee machine. [2] The 'cheongsam experience' was with an outsourced company, and if you wanted to take photos, you had to add them on WeChat and pay an additional 158 yuan for makeup and styling, which was only available during specific time slots; miss it and there'd be no makeup artist, so no participation. [3] The 'two noodle coupons' meant you could have noodles during lunch or dinner, but I didn't use them. [4] The 'Pingtan performance' was also only in the evening; the theater doors were mostly closed during the day. [5] The afternoon 'handicraft class' required a separate payment. [6] The 'Tai Chi experience' was essentially the staff's live stream content during their work hours; guests could join if they woke up early enough, but the instructor would broadcast anyway. Also, the 'Half Garden visit' was less than 5 minutes, not very big, and already free to the public during the day. Third, the room type descriptions were not transparent, with price differences of at least 200 yuan or more. When I called to complain, I saw the price was still over 800 yuan. After I complained, the on-site price was 599 yuan, and when I checked the system again, it had also adjusted to 599 yuan, but for a different room type called 'Shuxiang King Room,' while the on-site one was an 'Elegant Mansion King Room.' In short, there are many hidden tricks, and the room itself was quite ordinary. Fourth, speaking of the room, when I inquired about the price difference, they claimed they had upgraded my room the day before (implying I got a good deal). But first, the upgrade wasn't something I requested; it was a voluntary perk offered by the hotel, and then they used this act to subtly criticize me. Second, the description of this room type was also very unclear; the 'upgraded' room was called 'Yijing Room,' but from check-in to check-out, I couldn't open the curtains because there was a residential building directly opposite, a wall's length away. Everything was clearly visible, and privacy couldn't be guaranteed. The explanation for which building was which situation was entirely up to the hotel staff, and the names were all over the place. Again, the key point is the consumer's right to choose and right to information. Whether breakfast was included in the order, and how many portions, the actual details of the package contents, and whether consumption was bundled, all should be clearly marked for consumers to choose freely, according to their budget, rather than vaguely writing a bunch of things inconsistent with reality and then playing word games when questioned. As of the completion of this review, Ctrip's customer service supervisor helped resolve the issue and promised to modify the consumption prompts, including whether consumption is bundled. I advise everyone to pay close attention when placing an order and confirm the content and amount. What the hotel has going for it is its good location and cleanliness, and the staff's attitude is great. However, the entire bundled consumption mechanism means that consumers' right to information is not guaranteed, and I cannot agree with or understand that."

For guests traveling with families, this hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices.

"When we drove near the hotel, the kids saw how bad the surroundings were in the old town and immediately asked my wife, 'Is this really our hotel? Why are we staying here?' The underground parking was also quite run-down, but at least they had a parking lot. However, once we entered the hotel lobby and walked to the front desk, it was a pleasant surprise, and the room was even more surprising. The entire design was very modern, and they upgraded us to a room with a large bathtub. I have high standards for hotel rooms, including cleanliness, the quality of the decor, and breakfast. But this time, everything was very satisfactory. It was extremely hot in summer, and we planned to enter the Humble Administrator's Garden right when it opened, so we had to leave at 6:40 AM. Although breakfast usually starts at 7 AM, they offered to pack something for us. In the end, they opened breakfast for us at 6:30 AM. They were truly thoughtful. Even the kids were amazed when they entered, saying 'Wow, this is so nice!'"

"A very new hotel, located directly opposite Guanqian Street Pedestrian Zone. It's about a ten-minute walk to Pingjiang Road, Humble Administrator's Garden, and the Baila Park Lotus Market next door. Every morning, I'd wake up early, buy a bouquet of lotus flowers for about ten yuan, take a stroll, come back for breakfast, and then wait for the whole family to wake up to start our day of sightseeing. The butler service was excellent. Washing clothes daily with a family is a hassle, but there was no waiting – the butler took care of everything, even in the middle of the night."

This small hotel is located right within the Pingjiang Road scenic area. It's quite small with very few guests, so it's really quiet. However, the moment you step outside, you're in the bustling scenic area, which has a fantastic night view. You can even experience the beautiful tranquility of the street once all the crowds have dispersed. A heads-up: the hotel rooms lack USB charging ports, so remember to bring your own. The service is excellent; they'll even turn on the air conditioning in advance when they know you're arriving, ensuring you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. They also offer dining options and souvenirs, which is very convenient. Overall, it's a small place, but it perfectly encapsulates the charm and sophistication of Suzhou.

The overall experience was excellent. The room was full of Jiangnan design elements, creating an elegant ambiance. Before checking in, I added the guest relations contact, Amber, on WeChat. She thoughtfully sent detailed check-in tips and arranged a garden-view balcony room for us. The room had great natural light, and the bedding was soft and skin-friendly. The bathroom featured a dry and wet separation and was equipped with niche Dutch toiletries, providing an excellent user experience. The mini-bar drinks were complimentary, and the hotel also provided welcome fruits, which were both exquisite and thoughtful; the peaches were very sweet. I must especially praise the hotel's attentive service. Upon check-in, staff warmly greeted us, proactively helped with our luggage, and thoroughly explained the hotel's amenities. The entire communication process was easy and comfortable. The hotel's garden environment was truly a highlight, with swaying bamboo shadows and flowing water, showcasing the charm of Jiangnan at every turn. Whether sitting on the balcony enjoying the view or strolling along the corridor, one could fully enjoy the tranquility away from the city's hustle and bustle. The location is also excellent, close to the subway for convenient travel, saving time and effort when visiting major attractions. It's perfect for both short trips and leisure vacations. Next time I'm in Suzhou, I will definitely choose Zhuhui again!

The hotel is a bit far from the city center, but it's conveniently located if you're planning to visit the nearby mountains or Taihu Lake. Right next to the hotel is a shopping mall with a Cha Yan Yue Se (tea house), making dining and shopping very convenient. Although this is a Marriott extended-stay brand, we discovered it's a hidden gem for families with kids. During the May Day holiday, they had daily kids' activities. On our check-in day, we participated in a kite-painting activity at the lobby bar, and after painting, we flew the kites on the lawn in front of the hotel. My child had an absolute blast! We were assigned the smallest suite and received complimentary welcome desserts. The front desk staff, noticing we had a child, proactively sent kids' toiletries to our room, which felt like a very thoughtful touch. The room is equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, perfectly meeting the needs of an extended stay.

I arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner.   I didn’t and still don’t  have an eSIM that can make local  call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free.  I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands.  I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.  I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their  blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop  to Suzhou which was my next destination.  This  operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a  lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.  After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge .  If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass.  Do check with the owner for up to date information.  The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.  Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. .  There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from  the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy.  It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances. The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.  This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.  I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in  Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I  couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.
