KKankanjingjingdeLocated in the core boutique homestay area of Badaling Shifo Temple, it is the best of the best. Every corner is noble and elegant. The exquisite decoration and top facilities complement each other, as if you are in an art palace. The rooftop of the homestay is equipped with an open-air swimming pool, swings, and teahouses, which are suitable for children to play and adults to relax. Each courtyard has its own characteristics, as well as private hot springs, saunas and other facilities. It is very close to the Water Gate Great Wall, with a beautiful and quiet environment, suitable for parents and children or couples to relax and play during the holidays. It is a particularly good experience and recommended!

LLiaoaoaoaoaoaoOur stay at Gubei Zhiguang was absolutely amazing! Before we arrived, the hotel manager, Kangle, called us a day in advance to ask for our arrival time and provide directions. Since it was the off-season and not many tourists were around, she even upgraded our room for free to one with a direct view of the Great Wall from the window, which was incredibly thoughtful. While we were checking in, Kangle saw my friend and I waiting in the lobby and kindly helped us with our luggage. When we jokingly asked if we, as 'children,' could also get a gift, Kangle proactively offered us a Napoleon pastry. Our impression of her went up, up, up! Following Kangle's recommendation, we visited Simatai Great Wall in the evening, going up before sunset and coming down after dark. We witnessed an absolutely stunning sunset and night view – this trip was definitely worth it! The ancient town itself, with its small bridges and flowing water, sculling boats, hot springs, and enthusiastic staff, is a place worth revisiting. We're already looking forward to our next trip to experience the intangible cultural heritage crafts!

GGuest UserThis is a fantastic place to stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Universal Studio Beijing because it's very close to the park and offers a shuttle service by the hotel staff. The Harry Potter-themed decor makes this place unique, worthwhile, and truly memorable. Each room has bathrobes and equipment available for free loan to the park, which is a major highlight. The elderly staff member was very attentive, cheerful, and even drove us to the park or train station. There's a 500 yuan deposit required for check-in, which is refundable upon check-out. The place is located quite deep in a village, with no restaurants or food options nearby. If you plan to stay here, you'll need to eat your fill or bring your own supplies.

MMarcoPoPoDuring the May Day holiday, there were people everywhere. I just wanted to find a quiet place with less traffic and less people. This place is really a very good choice. It is not far from the Beijing-Weihai Expressway. Facing the mountains, there are two hot springs. The children are happy to play, and I can also listen to music and enjoy the tranquility on the recliner. Next time I go, I should bring barbecue ingredients. The courtyard provides free grills, charcoal and condiments.

QQuin56Review: Stay Home This trip was like an encounter with prehistoric man and a case study of a failed business combined. If you book a standard room, you will be taken away from the five star reception area to another building which has the decor and standards of a thirty year old hotel. Faded carpets, peeling walls, smelly interiors, uncleaned floors and rooms which are impossible to heat. But it was just about liveable, in that it had a bed and hot water. What totally failed to impress were the amenities. We'd come for the children's stuff, the little zoo, water park and others. The price of these are not included in the hotel, and for each experience they charge adults and baby to the tune of 80rmb, meaning you will spend quite a bit to use it all. As soon as I saw the children's rides I became depressed, they were rusting and looked murderous, as if the nuts and bolts would be dislodged and explode fatally in all directions if a kid shook too heavily on the things. To even use anything suggested you'd become unclean as well. Then you attempt to ask staff something but stop when you realise how futile it would be to address someone with one eye in its forehead and the other in its chin, with their peers boasting similarly fascinating facial misalignments. An hour of that and we wanted to leave, including our baby. She would have been much happier at home playing with her toys, or rather just happy at home doing anything than being at the Nirvana resort. Anyway, the swimming pool is not free either, they will charge you 58 a person including child. When I went to ask about a swim, staff were downright stunned I'd walked in to ask such a question, watching as I entered and left with hillbilly intensity and incomprehension. You can see the park had a lot of money invested in it before, way back in the misty past, but I can't see them recouping their losses. The resort is a grab money scheme with separate interests taking care of, or neglecting, what is on offer. I can't see them attracting a moneyed middle class without a total overhaul. On the plus side, my wife and I did have a good laugh about how bad it was and the fact we'd packed for a few days in expectation of a holiday, but found ourselves cancelling after an hour. The reception was helpful with this and refunded our money. The staff are well meaning in a vacuous kind of way, going about their duties as the whole place drops about them, broken lifts, falling plaster, water leaks and all. But to be sincerely positive, the gardens are pleasant along with the lake and ducks.

MM472089****We originally booked a family room, but the hotel upgraded us to a family suite for free. The room was beautiful, and our child absolutely loved it. The hot spring environment is excellent. Manager Zhao was incredibly kind; our child left their iPad in the hotel room, and Manager Zhao arranged for a courier to send it home. We're very grateful!

GGuest UserThe facilities are well-equipped. We visited during the May Day holiday, and it was incredibly crowded, but once the crowd dispersed a bit, it was manageable. The rooms are quite old but clean enough. Dinner was really good! Delicious, they had durian, crayfish, and crab, but there were just too many people. The hygiene overall was good, both in the rooms and at the hot spring. The environment is spacious, and there's a lot of room to explore, which is great. The hot spring staff were okay, pretty good actually. However, I booked a room but wasn't assigned a butler, and no one introduced the activities, which wasn't a great experience. Plus, I couldn't get through to the front desk when I had an issue. Overall, the room facilities are old, and the walls are peeling. And with the lack of service staff, I probably won't book a room here again. The Xishan Hot Spring itself is really good! I'll definitely come back for that!

MM0005****The rooms are clean and tidy, and come with a balcony. When checking in, you need to register your vehicle to park in the underground parking lot 🅿️, otherwise, you might be charged a parking fee. We had three king-size rooms, and 1119 had the best view, overlooking the lake from the balcony, with a beautiful sunrise in the morning. The room directly opposite could see the golf course behind, which was great for sunset views. The bathroom and bathtub are in separate spaces opposite each other, designed with two sinks for simultaneous use. The front desk is on the second floor, and the connecting corridor to the hot spring ♨️ is also on the same floor, though it's a bit of a walk. The buffet restaurant is on the first floor. Complimentary fruit was provided in the room.

GGuest UserThis experience was a bit disappointing! First, the good points: the accommodation package included a high-quality afternoon tea set, and the staff were very friendly! Now for the not-so-good parts: I'm not sure if it was due to the increased traffic during the May Day holiday, but the room cleaning was unsatisfactory. There were hairs everywhere, on the sofa and in the corners of the walls. I wonder if the previous guest had a pet. We had to request a second vacuum cleaning! The evening BBQ buffet was definitely something to avoid. I've never had such a terrible BBQ. It felt like an immature dish added on a whim without any proper menu development! There were no labels at the buffet counter, and all the BBQ items were mixed together. We had to ask the staff, who then had to ask the chef, and the chef would then explain each item one by one. It was basically a 'mystery box' buffet. The scallops were overcooked and a bit tough. There was no juice at the buffet, and a star-rated hotel actually served cold mixed noodles (liangpi)! The worst part was that the BBQ meat and grilled tendon weren't fully cooked. They lacked chewiness and that grilled flavor; it was more like they were par-boiled first and then grilled. The overall temperature of the food wasn't very hot, and if you didn't eat it quickly at your table, it would get cold. The only highlight was that the crayfish were decent. The watermelon at the buffet wasn't as good as the watermelon in the afternoon tea set. The dinner menu was actually worse than breakfast.

GGuest UserDidn't want to travel too far for our holiday, so we chose the Marriott Badaling to relax with the kids. The hotel's location is excellent, just a stone's throw from Wanda Plaza, which caters to all our dining, drinking, and shopping needs. The room was spacious and well-arranged, maintaining Marriott's usual high standards. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options; even though it was crowded during the holiday, the queue was orderly, and there was plenty of food. There are many hot spring pools with good privacy, but soaking in them these past two days was a bit awkward – the outdoor wind was too strong and it was a bit sunny, while the indoor water was a bit shallow and the activities felt a bit childish, not really suitable for older kids. The indoor swimming pool, however, was great, with clean, odorless water and plenty of lounge chairs. Overall, this short getaway was quite satisfying. A special thanks to Skyller for helping us get extra perks and for the very attentive, butler-style service. I'll definitely recommend this place to friends and family for a holiday.
