Hot Springs Hotels in Beijing

This hotel, part of the Gulf Hotel Group, stands out as a high-end property, primarily known for its hot springs. Beyond that, it boasts an impressive array of amenities including a family-friendly kids' paradise, hiking trails, a space-themed sports complex, and a wellness center offering treatments like sound bowl therapy, head meditation, and full-body essential oil massages. Our butler, Luna Zhang, provided exceptionally warm and thoughtful service. She helped us set up the family beds and surprised us with fruit and ice cream, which delighted the children. For those interested in hiking, the room key cards conveniently include a hiking map. The 5-kilometer mountain trail with its 'Eight Planets' viewing platforms is perfect for a family-friendly climb, offering great photo opportunities at each stop.

It was freezing outside in winter, but super warm inside – I felt like I could wear a T-shirt, the air conditioning was excellent. The service was generally great. My child threw a beanbag up onto the ceiling, which was about three or four meters high, and the hotel staff even managed to get it down for us. I'm very grateful for that. I deducted 0.5 points for service because the front desk staff seemed clueless; when I asked where to feed the alpacas, they said they didn't know and that it was handled by the hot springs area, implying it wasn't under their management. They mentioned the hot springs and entertainment were outsourced. However, we found the alpacas just a short distance outside the hotel lobby entrance, along with geese, ducks, and chickens. There were three large and two small alpacas, and they were adorable. Do bring them some carrots and greens; they looked quite hungry. For breakfast, go early, before 8 AM, as it's very abundant. If you go later, you'll miss out on the delicious cream cakes. Dinner was a buffet due to New Year's, and the seafood was quite fresh for the hotpot. The hot springs were a bit crowded, but the kids had a good time, mostly hitting each other with ocean balls. There weren't many indoor hot spring pools, making it a bit cramped. The temperatures were all high, but it was very clean. They said there were outdoor pools too, but we didn't go as it was too cold.

We visit Xishan Hot Spring several times a year. Even with the ongoing renovations and the summer crowds this time, it didn't detract from the experience at all. The buffet is consistently delicious, and checking in at noon gives you plenty of time to enjoy everything. Plus, there's a dedicated staff member to park your car for free. It's truly the best choice within the city.

The hotel boasts an elegant environment, making you feel like you have an entire mountain to yourself. Built into the hillside, the two-bedroom suite we booked this time was located mid-mountain. The hotel community has complete facilities, and the main entrance is fenced off with a gate, so the security is reassuring and makes you feel very safe. The shuttle service uses Voyah commercial vans, which are super comfortable! The staff helped with our luggage, which was very thoughtful and attentive. It's about 10 kilometers from Badaling Great Wall, and Shuiguan Great Wall is nearby and not crowded. Juyongguan Great Wall is also conveniently located on the way to Beijing South Station, so we stopped by, making our trip even more rich and fulfilling.

The room is very spacious, and the bathroom area is quite large, perfect for a family. There's plenty of room for dining and playing together. The height of the chairs and tables is a bit mismatched; you sink in quite a bit when you sit down. The bunk beds were a hit with the kids. Plus, there's a private indoor hot spring in the room, which is free and quite nice. The hotel breakfast is pretty average, with the variety and taste on par with a 3-star hotel in the city center. The hot spring is connected to the hotel, and you can re-enter until noon the next day by registering your room number. However, you do need to exchange your entry wristband.

After booking the hotel, I saw a lot of negative reviews, which made me quite nervous. However, I found it to be pretty good in reality. The environment is beautiful and the air is pleasant, perfect for a relaxing 'lie-flat' vacation, so I ended up staying for three nights. As a five-star hotel, the hardware facilities, room layout, and spatial design are all top-notch. The accompanying gym and pool are also excellent. The gym has water and towels, and a good range of equipment, so I'd give it a five-star rating. The main complaint about breakfast seems to be the small restaurant, but I personally felt the food variety met expectations. The live cooking stations for noodles and wontons were quite tasty, and there were also specialty 'huoshao'. The omelet chef was very friendly, and there were several coffee machines, both capsule and regular. The hot dishes were indeed limited, only three or four, which is a clear drawback. Also, the small cakes common in other five-star hotels were missing. I'd give it a four-star rating, but it's certainly not bad. The Chinese restaurant, however, offers poor value for money. It's expensive with limited variety, many dishes didn't inspire me to order, and the taste was just average. Overall, the dining is a relative weakness. The Jing A beer at the lobby bar wasn't expensive, though. There are many takeaway options, but the robot delivery was a bit slow. The housekeeping staff were very diligent, providing plenty of water and amenities. I was just a little surprised that after excitedly bringing my own tea, there were no tea sets. It was also a bit inconvenient that there were no toiletries by the bathtub. The front desk staff were also fine. The World Horticultural Exposition is right outside, and the complimentary hot spring tickets made it an excellent value. I hope they continue to operate well, and I would stay here again if I have the chance. Oh, and the entrance and exit to the underground parking lot are a bit small, so be careful when passing other cars.

Pros: 1. The hotel is conveniently located near the entrance to Simatai Great Wall. It's easy to access the Wall for hiking, and you can also enjoy views of it from the second floor of the room. The Wall is visible in the distance from the window, making it a secluded retreat away from the hustle and bustle. 2. The hotel offers excellent service. Housekeeping is prompt, and the staff are attentive and welcoming. 3. The duplex suite A is very spacious, perfect for families with elderly members and children. Kids, especially, will love rolling and crawling on the tatami mat. 4. Slippers and bath towels are replaced daily, and complimentary fruit is provided every day. 5. After checking out, I left my headphones in the room. The hotel proactively contacted me and arranged for them to be couriered to me, which I truly appreciate. Cons: 1. The room is very inconvenient for elderly guests with mobility issues. The main bed is on the second floor, making it difficult for them to go up and down. The first floor has a tatami mat, which makes it hard for elderly guests to get up and lie down. If they need to get up at night, they would definitely need assistance. 2. While the room is large, whether the Japanese wabi-sabi style truly suits Chinese guests, especially for a hotel charging 5,000 yuan per night, is a question that needs consideration. The wabi-sabi aesthetic often translates to very sparse furnishings: no comfortable sofas, no bedside tables, no bedside lamps, and certainly no central control panel for all lights and appliances. The tatami mat essentially means sleeping on the floor with a low table, making it very inconvenient and challenging to get up, sit down, or place and retrieve items, which clashes with Chinese living habits. 3. The private hot spring bath in the room only has one switch for hot water, making it impossible to adjust the temperature. Its size is also awkward; it's fine for one person, but feels cramped for two. For a room type designed for six people, such a small bath is quite inconvenient. Furthermore, the inner wall of the bath is made of solid wood, raising concerns about hygiene. 4. The smart toilet was broken and remained unrepaired even after reporting it. 5. The two bedrooms on the second floor, designed to accommodate at least four people, share a single small bathroom, which is a very impractical design. Additionally, the entire Gubei Water Town is not suitable for elderly visitors with mobility issues, especially those in wheelchairs. The flagstone paths are very uneven, and there are many steps, which would make a wheelchair ride extremely bumpy and uncomfortable.

Facilities: The kids' playground was a bit disappointing. One slide was under maintenance, and there was no trampoline, just building blocks and such – not much to play with. It was worse than what I expected from a family-friendly hotel's children's facilities. The pool was great and clean. The hot spring pools were also a lot of fun. However, the outdoor area only opens at 10:30 AM and the slides close around 5 PM. In Beijing's summer, it's impossible to play when it's at its hottest; you'd get roasted. And it closes before it even gets dark. It's a bit of a shame that we couldn't fully enjoy the outdoor slide pool. Cleanliness: Clean. Service: Very good and enthusiastic. Kevin, our butler, helped us solve all sorts of problems throughout our stay. Many thanks to him. Environment: Right next to Wanda Plaza, so no worries about food and drinks. It was very convenient. The hotel lobby bar was also good, with decent standards.

This was my first time visiting Xiaotangshan. My partner wanted a room with both public and private hot springs, so we chose this place. The room type had a large outdoor area, while the indoor area was small, but it had everything we needed. The lights worked well, and there was even an electric blanket on the bed. On the day of check-in, we were assigned a dedicated butler. I think we were a bit demanding, needing the pool cleaned again and picking up takeout, but the butler, Jia Ran, and the other staff members all helped us solve our problems. Highly recommended! The breakfast included in the room exceeded our expectations, offering both Chinese and Western options, and it was delicious. The public areas are worth experiencing; there's a functional hot spring and a swimming area, offering a different experience from the private hot springs – quite nice. As a long-established hot spring resort in Beijing, Jiuhua Hot Spring didn't feel outdated at all during my first visit. On the contrary, many facilities were quite new. The one-on-one butler service was also a pleasant surprise; messages in the group were replied to almost instantly, ensuring we weren't delayed. Special praise goes to concierge Leo; we ordered two takeout meals, which arrived one after the other, and he delivered them one by one, even tagging me in the group chat to let me pick them up instead of leaving them on the ground for me to retrieve. This showed his attentiveness and responsibility, a big thumbs up. Overall, the hot springs here are exceptional, and the service is impeccable. It's no exaggeration to say it surpasses some star-rated hotels. I would definitely consider returning, and I wish them continued success.

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! You can reach the foot of the Great Wall in just two minutes. The room was super clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. My in-laws, who were traveling with me, loved just relaxing in the armchair by the window, breathing in the fresh air, so much so that they said there was no need to even climb the Great Wall – just staying at the hotel was a treat in itself. There's also an adorable tabby cat at the hotel that loves getting belly rubs. Dining was convenient too; Yanxi Fishing Village is right in the courtyard, and the food portions were generous. After we came back from the Great Wall, we rested at the hotel, and the staff even thoughtfully brought us afternoon tea. It was such a warm gesture and really helped to wash away the fatigue from climbing the Wall. The scenery at Mutianyu is just beautiful! We'll definitely be back, and when we return, we'll stay here again and come to pet your cat once more!
