Amazing
GGuest UserStayed here 2 days before my Kobe cruise and it was good enough to rebook for another 3 days after we returned. The hotel is quiet new and located on top of the sannomiya station, giving underground access to most trains and shopping malls nearby. It's basically the center of Kobe. Exits are 1st floor to the street and 2nd floor to station. Reception is 17th floor. Rooms are slightly bigger than most hotels in Japan. Even number room gives you the larger massage machine but room is smaller than odd numbered rooms. These have a smaller massage chair but bigger space and faces the port terminal if you have a cruise ship waiting. They provide amenities, coffee and tea at 17th floor. Did not try the breakfast but there is a convenient store on 2nd floor of the station, near the hotel exit - lots if sandwiches and snacks here. There're hundreds of restaurants and malls underground and you'll get lost most of the time so look for entrance A1 and A2 to get back. Airport bus from kansai stops 200m away and bus to the airport departs 100m from the station. Most of the highest rated restaurants are not more than 400m from the hotel. I'll definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserI would like to thank all the staff, especially the front desk, for their help during my stay. There was some confusion with my booking through Trip.com. I had already paid Trip.com for accommodation and breakfast, and I did not realise at first that this was only a prepayment to Trip.com to secure the booking, and that I would still need to pay the hotel directly at the front desk, with a refund to come later from Trip.com. Your front desk team were very patient and professional in helping me contact Trip.com and clarify the situation so that I could understand why another payment at the hotel was required. I really appreciate their kindness and excellent service.

GGuest UserThis is my second time staying at this hotel, and I truly feel its location is incredibly convenient. There are Family Mart, 7-Eleven, and Lawson stores all along the street, so you can pop down anytime to grab supplies. Directly opposite is a 24-hour Don Quijote, which is great for buying things and bringing them back easily. It's also a short walk to Sannomiya subway station and the Sannomiya shopping street. This time, I even discovered that you can reach the shopping street in just a few minutes by taking the small road to the right of the hotel. There are various restaurants right on the street in front of the hotel, and the famous Kobe beef restaurants are just at a nearby intersection. The hotel rooms are a decent size, meeting the basic needs of a tourist. I'll probably stay here again next time. The complimentary coffee and tea after 6 PM, and ice cream before 8 PM, provide a nice relaxed space for guests to chat, which is a very thoughtful arrangement. On a later day, I had an early morning flight, so I needed to switch to a hotel near Kansai Airport. I checked out around 10 AM and left my luggage at the hotel. The hotel staff were very accommodating; I went out to do some last-minute shopping and had lunch, then came back to collect my luggage, which didn't disrupt my plans at all.

GGuest User1. I stayed for four nights, but the front desk didn't mention that housekeeping would come on the third day when I checked in. I thought if I didn't hang the 'do not disturb' sign, they wouldn't enter the room. Coincidentally, on the third day, I had period cramps and was resting in bed. Around 1 PM, the cleaning staff knocked on the door and then directly swiped their card to open it 😑. Hearing the door open, I immediately shouted a few times for them to close it, and thankfully, they didn't come in (PS: From the sound of it, they seemed to be an Indian man, imagine the internal drama I was going through 😑). Afterward, I reported it to the front desk staff, Ms. Sakura, who explained the situation and apologized repeatedly. However, not informing guests beforehand about this is really unfriendly. 2. The location is close to Sannomiya Station, which is convenient for transportation, but it's also right by the train tracks. It was genuinely a bit noisy. If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend booking a hotel further away from the railway tracks (PS: Earplugs from FamilyMart saved my life 😐). 3. Before booking, I saw reviews mentioning hygiene issues, but I thought they were isolated incidents. After checking in, I also 'happily received' other people's hair 😑, and the bed sheets weren't very clean either.

GGuest UserThe room was slightly different from the pictures, but it didn't affect our stay. The surroundings were truly beautiful, especially the colorful autumn mountain scenery right next to the hotel. The facilities were a bit old but still clean and hygienic. The older staff members were incredibly helpful; when we requested water delivery around 6 AM, it was brought to our room immediately. However, the younger staff seemed to lack a bit. We had luggage and told the front desk that we'd wait in the lobby for about ten minutes before taking the hotel's shuttle to the Hankyu bus station. We saw the shuttle arrive and leave twice, and we didn't have time to go out and stop it. It would have been great if a doorman could have held the car for us. This caused a delay of about 20 minutes. Luckily, we had plenty of time before our scheduled bus departure, otherwise, we would have been very anxious.

AAnonymous UserNot sure what has happened to Japan standard in the past couple of years but had called the hotel to confirm that linens are scent free (standard in Japan before) and was told yes. Unfortunately they are not, this new laundry detergent that is slowly spreading throughout Japan is absolutely horrible causing all sorts of allergic reactions (not only to me.) I start having rashes, compromised breathing, and inflammation issues. If it’s the same detergent used back in America, then it might be eco-friendly, but definitely not human friendly. I truly hope that Japan goes back to the way it was before the introduction of some western products filled with harmful chemicals to humans. It is not because you don’t react to it that it is not harming your body, it’s only a question of time and when it does, you won’t know why and there is no turning back. Take it from an Asian American born who was the biggest fan of American marketed products. We do have good products like ECOLAB, which is both, sustainable for the environment without compromising human health. Maybe laundry company should look into that company or simply return to Japanese products before. Good thing thing their pyjama are still scent free so I had to wrap the bed and cover with their pyjama to get through the night.

Ssissi****It's a bit of a walk from the station. The famous internet-famous church cafe is just a three-minute walk behind it. There's a Matsuya downstairs, perfect for breakfast. I stayed in a double room by myself and had plenty of space to open my suitcase. All the essential amenities were there, and the lighting was adjustable. I thought the service was great; the front desk always greeted me when I came and went.

GGuest UserHotel service was good. Dinner and breakfast was provided as part of the stay. Food was good for the stay since there are not much options for food at Arima. Most shops are closed by afternoon. Though the hotel is old but it’s renovated (except for the old wooden cupboard) which made the stay more pleasant. Onsen is indoor and small so will need to go at hours with lesser people.

SshkeiThis is my go-to hotel whenever I'm in Kobe. The location is super convenient, right above the Shinkansen and subway stations, with plenty of restaurants and transportation options nearby. The rooms are spacious, bright, and very comfortable, and the service is excellent. It's also really easy to get to the Nunobiki Herb Gardens from here.

GGuest UserLocation is great as it is practically adjacent to the Sannomiya train station. However, there is a major scale construction going on now, right exactly in front of the hotel and if you are not observant, it could easily slip your sight. Also note there are two Tokyu Rei hotels nearby each other and if you are taking a taxi from Shin Kobe station, remember to clearly specify the destination is Sannomiya Tokyu Rei and not the nearby one in Moto Machi which the driver brought us to. As is typical of most hotels in Japan, even though we had a twin room, space was rather limited and we barely had enough to even open up a medium size luggage bag let alone two. A big plus point was food options were everywhere and all within walking distance, with many eateries just directly behind the hotel and more as you walk down the main road leading to a row of various restaurants and various eateries for all budgets. Check-in was of the touch machine kind which is typical of Japan now and staff were at hand to help and guide along. They were also especially helpful providing useful information as to where to go for a good meal and how to get to other places of interests. Given the proximity to train station, the food options around and the price we paid, Kobe Sannomiya Tokyu Rei is a good choice for a stay in Kobe.
