📍 377 Frankton Road, Queenstown

"If you absolutely must stay here, choose the lake-view apartment. I didn't pay attention when booking. Firstly, the room was small, and secondly, there's nowhere to eat nearby except the hotel restaurant. I originally wanted to change my plans midway to visit Dunedin. I submitted a request to modify the dates on Trip.com two days before check-in, but I never received a reply. It wasn't until I asked in person on the day of check-in that they said it was possible, but they would charge us over 3,000 for one night. 🙄 I have to give Trip.com a serious bad review here. Initially, they said they would intervene if the hotel didn't respond by the deadline, but later they said that since the hotel's response deadline had passed, the original order would proceed. They didn't even bother with a superficial effort. When submitting the modification request, I noticed that we had pre-booked a lake-view room for three nights for over 10,000, but upgrading to a better room type later on was actually over a thousand cheaper. The only upside is the beautiful scenery. Everything else is a complaint. After eating at the restaurant, we wanted to go back to our room to rest, only to find that staff had entered the room to fix the air conditioning without any request from us. We'd been there for two nights and hadn't noticed any problem with the AC. The cleaning was also very perfunctory. The shower glass had too many gaps, so water always leaked everywhere, and when our wet slippers were thrown away, they weren't replaced. In short, don't expect to be treated like a guest when you come here."

"The hotel is 15 mins away from the city which is good. However, it’s located on the steep slope which was a bit tried to walk up, especially with luggage. I will not stay there another and will book another hotel on the ground next time if I go back to Queenstown."

"The room was clean and comfortable. The location is superb, directly facing the city center pier with excellent lake views. It's about a 5-minute walk to catch the steamboat. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The front desk staff were friendly."

"Queenstown Lylo locates just steps from Intercity bus, Skylines, and Fergburger. The staff is very young yet very helpful, helping me solve locker issues twice. The kitchen is relatively small, crowded during meal time."

"This is the fourth time I’ve stayed at the scenic suites between the last time and this time the rooms have had a refresh there really wasn’t anything tired about the rooms in the first place but they have re-carpeted and added some lovely new furniture the view from the balcony of the lake and downtown Queenstown is stunning particularly at night the thick double glazing keeps all the noise out when shut the rumour is lovely and warm and I appreciate the car park in the basement I would highly recommend this place all it’s missing is  a swimming pool Everything else you need to cook and wash is in the room"

"The location is convenient, with supermarkets, shopping malls, and restaurants all within walking distance. However, it is about a 20-minute drive to Queenstown town centre. Parking is shared with the shopping mall, but we did not encounter any issues finding a space. Overall, the hotel is good in terms of cleanliness, location, and amenities. For service, I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars. During check-out, there was no staff at the reception, and no one responded when we called for assistance. As we were rushing to catch a domestic flight, this was quite frustrating. Fortunately, a cleaner happened to walk by and helped by knocking on the office door, after which a staff member finally came out. I don’t think this level of service should occur at a hotel of this standard."

"This hotel is absolutely terrible, the worst I've ever stayed at in Queenstown. We paid 2000 for a lake-view room, but because we're Chinese, they gave us a basement room that felt like a thatched hut. There was absolutely no view. Sending emails a month in advance and paying at 10 AM didn't make a difference. The service was abysmal; I had to carry my own luggage, and when it fell and a wheel broke off, the staff just stood there laughing. "

The Rees Hotel, Luxury Apartments & Lakeside Residences ★★★★★
"My stay this time was incredibly disappointing and absolutely did not live up to the price and prestige of an executive suite. We booked an executive suite for two days, and as soon as we entered the room, we were utterly disgusted: we found obvious and repulsive hairs on both beds, clearly left by the previous guest. The hygiene was clearly not taken seriously at all. Even the back of the hairdryer was covered in dust and grime, completely untouched by cleaning. We paid executive suite prices but received a level of cleanliness worse than a budget motel. What's even more infuriating is that after we reported the issues, the hotel's service attitude was abysmal – no apologies, no solutions, just perfunctory dismissal throughout. I honestly do not recommend this place, especially for anyone who cares about cleanliness and service. Seriously, avoid it at all costs."

Holiday Inn QUEENSTOWN REMARKABLES PARK by IHG ★★★★
"Holiday Inn Queenstown Remarkables Park by IHG was a very comfortable and modern stay. The room was clean, fresh, and well designed, with a comfortable bed and everything needed for a relaxing visit. The hotel felt well maintained throughout, and the overall atmosphere was quiet, welcoming, and convenient. The staff were friendly and professional, and check-in and check-out were smooth. The location is great for travellers who want easy access to the airport, nearby shops, restaurants, and Queenstown attractions, while staying slightly away from the busier town centre. The amenities were practical and suitable for both short stays and longer trips. Overall, it was a pleasant and reliable hotel with good value for money, and I would happily stay again."

Pinewood Queenstown ★★★
"⭐Pinewood Queenstown has a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings, but there were a few inconveniences during our stay. The location is slightly far from the town centre, and driving into the parking area can be a bit difficult, especially for larger cars. The room was quite small and felt a little stuffy, and the soundproofing could be improved as we could clearly hear neighboring rooms opening and closing their doors."

"Service Disaster Ruined Our Wedding Morning - Stay Away We stayed here in November 2025, and the hotel staff completely failed us right when it mattered most. My wife to be needed a room for her makeup appointment, and we asked for a late checkout of just an hour. The night receptionist assured us this would be fine: if the room wasn't available, they guaranteed a private area we could use instead. The only thing was we had to check back at 6:30 AM on checkout morning to confirm. We woke up early and followed their instructions exactly. At 6:30 AM, the morning desk staff flatly refused both the late checkout and the alternative private area, completely revoking the promise made hours earlier. This was a shocking and frankly cruel way to start our wedding day. If the night shift staff didn't have the simple authority to make that promise, they shouldn't have opened their mouths. We were completely misinformed, and it left us scrambling under extreme pressure. This hotel's internal confusion and lack of care for guests is appalling. They ruined our plans and showed zero respect for a commitment they made."
