"I’ve never left a bad review before, but this time I have to! I booked a 3-night stay at the 'Holiday Inn Express Yangzhou Slender West Lake (Dongguan Street)' from March 19th to 22nd through Trip.com. The hotel entrance looked quite grand, giving off a high-end impression at first glance, and the price was quite steep too. But it was truly awful! Friends, it’s a case of a beautiful exterior hiding a rotten interior. First, to be fair, the room size was decent, but the bed was very small and narrow, and the facilities were terrible. There was only one tiny bedside table, placed between the two small beds. The door stopper was broken and unusable, so I couldn't open the door for ventilation. The bathroom didn't even have a small hand towel; I had to use paper towels to wipe up any water, and there was no exhaust fan. After a shower, it felt like a public bathhouse, muggy and humid. There was no screen on the window, so I didn't dare open it for fear of mosquitos flying in. Also, the breakfast selection was extremely basic, and during one breakfast, plaster suddenly fell from the ceiling, as shown in the picture. It was completely unlike the description. All in all, it was very bad. The important part came on my second night, around 12:20 AM on the 20th. I was sleeping soundly when the fire alarm blared, jolting me awake and almost causing me to fall [cursing]. Then, amidst the alarm, an announcement instructed all guests to evacuate immediately via the emergency exit. In a panic, we just threw on jackets, didn't even have time to put on socks, and basically grabbed nothing before rushing out of the room and down the stairs. The hallway was completely drenched with water pouring down, soaking our clothes and shoes. When we got to the lobby, there were many people. Some were even just in shorts [facepalm], it was incredibly cold! Later, the police and firefighters arrived. They figured out that the fire alarm was triggered by a burst water pipe somewhere on the 5th floor. We gathered in the lobby for about an hour, and then everyone gradually went back to their rooms. However, the alarm started blaring again, continuously for nearly another half hour. I called the front desk three times in between, and they said the alarm couldn't be turned off temporarily. How was anyone supposed to sleep that night? I didn't go out the next day and just caught up on sleep. What was supposed to be a good trip turned into a heart-stopping experience. Afterward, the hotel didn't even proactively explain how they would compensate guests. Only after I went to negotiate did they reluctantly offer to waive the room fee for that night. As for our lack of sleep and the fright we endured, they didn't say a word! No gestures of apology whatsoever. This review is just my honest account for your reference. I hope everyone compares carefully when planning their trips. If I ever come to Yangzhou again, I will definitely not consider this hotel!"

"We booked a family room with a hot spring tub, which was a decent size. It even had little rubber ducks and a ball pit, which kept the kids entertained. The pet park was pretty good too, with lots of animals to feed. Feeding prices were mostly 10-20 yuan, and the 50 yuan package was quite a good deal. There's a massage service on the upper floor of the hot spring building. I had foot massages for three consecutive days; the price was reasonable – not a rip-off, but not cheap either, generally over 200 yuan per person."

"Traveling during Chinese New Year, it's been five years since my last visit to Yangzhou in 2021. Back then, there weren't many people. This time, due to the large holiday crowds, Dongguan Street had crowd control measures in place. I tried a few local meals and felt quite accustomed to them. The hotel's breakfast was a mix of Chinese and Western styles, perfect for us who had to catch an early train. There's a mall right next to the hotel, so food and drinks were very convenient. During the Spring Festival, all public buses in Yangzhou were free for those with out-of-town IDs, which was really helpful."
