Our stay at Chalet Ivy Jozankei was truly memorable and one of the best luxury hotel experiences we have had in Japan. The hotel is beautifully designed, impeccably maintained, and the hospitality from most of the staff was exceptional. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady at reception (whose name I unfortunately did not catch), who shared that she personally grows the beautiful flowers displayed in the hotel's sitting area. That personal touch immediately made us feel at home. Mr. Tai, who checked us in, was friendly, patient, courteous and professional. He took the time to explain the room features and hotel facilities in detail, making us feel genuinely welcomed. The cleanliness deserves special recognition. I am particularly sensitive to cleanliness and usually notice dust very easily, yet I could not find a single speck of dirt anywhere in the room. It is honestly one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. The lounge was another highlight. Each guest received a ¥1,000 alcoholic drink credit, and the complimentary snacks featured premium Hokkaido brands such as LeTAO, Yoshimi and Ryugetsu, making the experience feel truly luxurious. Dinner was outstanding. Every course was beautifully presented and delicious, while the restaurant staff provided attentive and polished service. The hotel's tasteful interior perfectly complemented the stunning views of the lush greenery and Toyohira River. We were also delighted to find beautifully cut and chilled melon and strawberries waiting in our room upon arrival. It was a thoughtful welcome that reflected the hotel's exceptional attention to detail. Breakfast was equally impressive, with beautifully prepared dishes that made each morning enjoyable. The private onsen in our room was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our stay, allowing us to relax while enjoying the peaceful natural surroundings. While our overall experience was excellent, I have a few suggestions for improvement. One Japanese male staff member who was on duty during check-in and later that evening came across as rather cold. On several occasions, I smiled and greeted him, but he did not acknowledge me and simply walked away. The contrast with the warmth shown by the rest of the team was quite noticeable. As such a premium property, it would also be wonderful if the hotel could offer more cultural or wellness activities, such as tea appreciation sessions, guided evening walks or seasonal experiences. During a previous stay at Capella Singapore, these activities became some of the most memorable parts of our visit, and I believe Chalet Ivy Jozankei has the perfect setting to offer something similar. I would also like to suggest a different restaurant seating arrangement for tables of four. Currently, only two guests can enjoy the beautiful river and greenery views while the other two face the interior of the restaurant. Arranging the tables perpendicular to the windows would allow all four guests to enjoy the spectacular scenery during their meal. Lastly, although we appreciated receiving tickets to the Summer Night Illumination Festival, accessing the main street requires walking up a very steep slope that is shared with vehicles, which could be challenging and potentially unsafe for elderly guests. In the future, perhaps a pedestrian bridge connecting Level 5 directly to the street level could improve accessibility and safety. Overall, Chalet Ivy Jozankei delivered an exceptional luxury experience with outstanding cleanliness, thoughtful hospitality, remarkable cuisine and beautiful surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return in the future. Thank you to the entire team for making our visit so memorable.

A Magical Hokkido Escape-The Absolute Highlight of My Trip. Returning to Hokkido after nearly a decade, we stayed at serveral properties, but this hotel was the most impressive stay of my 10-day journey. It was truly the magical experience I've been waiting for. Hightlights of the Stay: Warm Welcome: Greeted with humble Japanese smiles and genuine hospitality, followed by a choice of sparkling wine-a truly sophisticated start. The Room: With only 23 suites, it feels very private. The room was spacious and clean, featuring traditional tatami and a private in-room onsen. Opening the window to breath in the crisp winter air while soaking and watching the snowfal was pure bliss. Atmosphere and Facilities: the common areas include a cozy fireplace, a library, and a terrace overlooking the waterfront where the lake meets the river. Complimentary coffee and drinks are available thougtout the day. There is also a full spa on-site. Service and Logistics: World-class service from a very polite team. Free reserved parking is provided. Note on Location: While it's not in a walking-distance area during winter, the hotel is a destination in itself. You can easily spend the whole day relaxing here without wanting to leave. We'll definitely be back to experience this beauty in other seasons. A huge thank you to the staff for such an unforgettable stay! Exceptional Dining: The fine-dining meals feature premium local ingredients; the Monkfish (Anko) was particularly outstanding and delicious. I loved the open kitcheck where you can see the chefs' craftsmanship. They even provide thoughtful late-night snacks like Japanese sweets and warm soup.

This is my go-to hotel whenever I visit Sapporo. It's a convenient 7-8 minute walk from Sapporo Station's underground passage, and you can also reach Odori Park through the underground shopping street. Supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, and cafes are all easily accessible nearby. The hotel's own bakery and cafe are also excellent. The airport bus stop behind the hotel is very convenient, and for local day trips, you only need to walk to Sapporo Station. So, the location and amenities are perfect. The hotel offers larger rooms, though the layout isn't ideal – they're long and narrow, which feels a bit inconvenient. However, the Sapporo beer in the executive rooms is a definite plus, and the hotel breakfast is incredibly delicious. This time, due to the same room type not being available for consecutive nights and my itinerary, I had to make 3 separate bookings, switching between 2 room types, sometimes with breakfast and sometimes without…

The hotel room did not come cheap, but overall, we had a pleasant stay aside from a hiccup during check-in when the staff forgot to inform us that our room was ready and kept us waiting. The public onsen was great and we spent more time there than the private in-room onsen. The free ice-creams, drinks and ramen (during supper time) were delightful touches. Pillow gallery offered options of different types of pillows was great! The hotel is shoes-free, meaning one has to remove our shoes and store in the lockers at the entrance and move around shoeless or in the tabi socks provided. The yukata pyjamas provided were comfortable, so were the beds. The use of sliding doors meant one will not hear of slamming of room doors by other guests. It is a cosy hotel to stay in. What we did not like was the lack of a sheltered drop-off point to unload our luggages and the sensor lights at the hallway of the room. As it could not be dimmed or switched off, it would light up brightly when going to the toilet in the middle of the night.

The most comfortable bed I’ve ever had in a hotel. We had some of the best sleep during our stay. The bed was huge and incredibly comfortable, with plenty of pillows and soft, high-quality linens. The room itself was spacious, quiet, and very well soundproofed, with lots of space to store luggage and personal items, plus many useful amenities. The entire hotel has a modern, clean design and is kept in excellent condition. The staff were very kind, professional, and spoke English, which made everything easy. They even provided umbrellas free of charge when it rained, which was a thoughtful touch. The hotel bar also deserves a mention. The service was excellent, the drinks were very good, and the parfaits were delicious. Since parfaits are very popular locally in Sapporo, I definitely recommend trying one here. The location is convenient too: just a short walk from Susukino and the Sapporo city center, close to the station by a few metro stops, and easy to reach by taxi. Overall, this Marriott was a real gem. Because of such a pleasant experience here, I’ll definitely consider staying at other Marriott Courtyard hotels in the future.

March 24, 2026 I stayed at Mori no Uta for my birthday. I contacted the hotel in advance, and they had a birthday card ready for me. The hotel offers a free shuttle service from Makomanai Station, which needs to be booked beforehand. On the day I checked out, I booked the 9:30 AM shuttle, arrived at the station at 10:00 AM, and smoothly caught the 10:10 AM airport bus to New Chitose Airport. It was all seamless. The Japanese-Western style room was 40 square meters and quite spacious. It had a huge massage chair and a coffee machine. What impressed me most was dinner, where they offered freshly made pizza or naan that you could customize with toppings and have delivered to your table once baked. The naan crust was soft and fragrant with a wheaty aroma. I specifically asked for extra large shrimp and a generous amount of cheese – it was impossible not to love it! The dinner seating faced a beautifully illuminated snow scene outside, which was absolutely stunning. The hotel lobby boasts a magnificent, floor-to-ceiling fireplace, which is perfect for photos. In the evening, there was a small harp concert, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Both breakfast and dinner featured incredibly creamy ice cream. I had two big bowls at each meal and thoroughly enjoyed it!

We’ve stayed here for 7 nights. Which was a bit longer stay for Sapporo. However as the weather was so bad with heavy snow, so we did enjoy our stays in hotel during the snowy weather. The breakfast is so great and we expect it every morning, as it includes a variety of foods so you always can find something to enjoy. All staffs are very friendly and welcoming, especially two male & senior chefs at ramen and omelette. We also bought spa in our room rate, so every night we did enjoy a pleasant spa( though it’s not hot spring). In front of hotel, there is a small mall - BIVI , which with some good restaurants ,nice cafe (Gentle Bagel) and coop. Even at the heavy snowing days, you have no worries to spend time in. B1 with very practical laundry service , costs are fairly . If you have budget, you can choose only room (without breakfast and spa) plans, which is with very CP, strongly recommended.

The Hotel location is about 7 mins walk to Odori Station Exit 1. The 'Streetcar' station was about 3 mins walk from the hotel. Super convenient. Walking distance to underground shopping mall. The hotel room was spacious about 28 sqm in view that most hotel in Japan is quite small. The breakfast spread was superb. Best in Sapporo. The hotel was very generous to provide FREE Hokkaido snacks with hot and cold drinks at Lounge Area from 3 pm to 9pm. Overrall our stay was excellent.

The room facing Nakajima Park would be incredibly cozy and relaxing, especially if the weather is good or it's snowing. It's about a six to seven-minute walk from the subway station, and exit 3 has an elevator. You can tell the room's decor is a bit dated, but it's very clean and has a luggage rack. The lounge on the first floor overlooks a garden. Overall, it's a great choice for a relaxing getaway.

I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at Grand Mercure Sapporo. One of the highlights was definitely the lounge, which offered a wide variety of snacks and drinks throughout the day. It was well-stocked, nicely presented, and provided a great space to relax, whether for a quick refreshment or to spend some quiet time. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was calm and soothing, making it an excellent place for rest and recovery. The environment felt peaceful, and everything was designed to help guests unwind. After a busy period of work, this stay served as the perfect break to recharge both physically and mentally. I also appreciated how the hotel balanced comfort with convenience, creating a space where I could truly disconnect from work stress while still feeling well taken care of. This trip left me with very good memories, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway or even a short work break. I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.
