Firstly, we needed to drop our bags off at 10am once the train arrived in Gubeikou and they were so happy to let us into our room/hold our bags that early. Then they subsequently wowed us with their hospitality. They gave us their contact so they could give us a ride back to the accommodation from the base of the walk at Jinshanling at the end of the day. They upgraded our room. They recommended an excellent and well priced restaurant for dinner (across the road). They arranged a car to take us to the base of the wall at 0320 for sunrise. The room was beautiful, clean and beds so comfy after a day walking the wall

LLibraKKKThe environment is pleasant, though the resort area is quite small and pales in comparison to Aranya in Beidaihe. The hotel's interior design is lovely and very Japanese in style. The courtyard features many beautiful hydrangeas. The minibar being constantly restocked is a definite plus. Breakfast is served at a nearby restaurant, where you can choose one of three à la carte buffet options; the food was decent. While polite, the staff's attitude felt rather cold and indifferent. There were no perks like early check-in, late check-out, or room upgrades, which is fine, as the hotel isn't obligated to provide them.
What really ticked me off was an incident during check-out. The day before, the butler had explicitly told us that two bottles of body lotion would be left at the front desk for us to collect when we checked out. However, when checking out, the front desk didn't mention it at all until I brought it up. Then, the staff acted as if I was trying to swindle them out of a major freebie, going through a ridiculously elaborate verification process, only to eventually hand over just *one* bottle. It made me feel like I was begging for a gift. I almost decided to just drop it, but the more I thought about it, the more annoyed I became. They were the ones who offered it in the first place, yet they made me feel like I was trying to take advantage. So, I insisted on receiving the two body lotions that were initially promised. I've stayed at many hotels that offer complimentary parting gifts upon check-out, and those always cheerfully enhanced my overall satisfaction. This experience, however, left me absolutely furious. They seriously need to train their staff on proper communication protocols.

His home is a bit far from the Mountain Resort, but it is very close to the local commercial street and you can easily experience the local life. The hotel room is very well decorated, the facilities are very new, the scenery outside the window is also great, and the staff in the room is equipped with small, smart curtains, children like it very much. The bathroom is separated from wet and dry and the smart toilet lid is very clean. We set a family room, the area is relatively satisfactory. Breakfast, 18 yuan per person, is probably the level of a fast hotel. However, one thing to pay attention to when staying at this hotel is that their underground parking lot has no elevator. You need to walk up. There are not many parking spaces on the ground. There are about 10 parking spaces. The hotel management staff may help you stare at it and occupy the parking space. You don't need to climb the stairs when you park on the ground. This is indeed not so good, but considering the price of their home and the corresponding facilities, it is still a very cost-effective hotel. If you come to Chengde, you can recommend this hotel.

GGuest UserThe hotel is directly opposite the Bifengmen parking lot, and it's about a 20-minute walk to Lizheng Gate of the Mountain Resort. The quad room with bunk beds was very family-friendly for our family with two children.
While the hotel's facilities are fairly basic, I must particularly praise their excellent 9.9 Mountain Resort day tour and the front desk staff.
First, regarding the Mountain Resort day tour: it lasted a full 5 hours, and our guide, Xiao Qi, didn't waste a single minute. He provided thorough explanations, meticulously planned our route, and there were absolutely no sales pitches or additional charges. For such an honest and dedicated guide, the hotel deserves a huge commendation!
And then there's the front desk staff – every single person was beaming with smiles. They offered detailed information, provided attentive service, and went above and beyond to assist with any request. They even helped us cut a watermelon we bought, booked tickets for a show, and thoughtfully provided cushions for us as we were heading out. Truly heartwarming service!
Hidden gem: Just down the stairs next to the hotel is the Temple of Confucius. Plus, there's a highly popular lamb soup spot nearby, serving delicious *shaobing* (sesame flatbreads)!

RRudmer WigleI had an excellent stay at this guest house. The family that runs it is very friendly and very helpful. Not a lot of English is spoken, but don't let that deter you, it's a very welcome place and they'll take care of your needs. They can provide a lot of info on visiting the Wall and the location is just a hundred meters from the entry gate to the Jinshanling Wall. Even though it's still a few 100 meters walking after that, this is the closest you can stay in case you want to get on the wall for sunrise. Dinner was very tasty. I would definitely come back!

LLhpangpangThe rooms at Lanhai Hotel are clean and sanitary. Every service staff is very enthusiastic. The restaurant tastes good and the dishes are large. The hotel has smart charging stations. There is also a large supermarket next to it. There is also a tourism department on the first floor. The tour guide is knowledgeable and the hotel environment is great. I will stay at Lanhai Hotel next time I come to Chengde!

TTommy ChawAt the beginning it is hard for me to choose even the review is positive, but when I arrive and check in, I totally change my view. The surrounding is cozy, the room are clean with no cigarette odour even they provide ash tray in the room (suggest owner take away the ash tray and put a notice smoke at provider smoking area out side the premises), toilet are bright and water pressure is good (but hope the owner can make a little bit changes for the wiring system of the water heater), the food is tasty and size are too big for solo traveller (suggest to owner set a
price for small size for not wasting food), the owner parents are friendly and always give the good service. At night, surrounding is quite and good to rest. it is a walking distance to Jing shang ling tourist center but if planning to do the sunrise walk the owner will provide a transfer service to the entrance at 330am. Overall it is a good choice to stay here.

Service and hospitality is top notch and absolutely grateful to have such a nice bunch of staff who were super friendly and warm. The hotel was near Jin Shan Ling (about 5 mins drive) and they even offered to drive and pick us to and fro the hotel and Jin Shan Ling. Within the hotel, they were concerned with us feeling cold so they ferried us to our room as our room was a few mins walk away, and fetched us from our room to the lobby when we wanted to hang out at their chill areas there which turned out to be really relaxing.
They served super sumptuous meals including a hot pot set which was great for winter and even offered us complimentary dishes as part of winter solstice.
One of the staff named Henry Zhang gave us a tour at their exhibition centre showing the various scenic areas in 四季山, 金山岭 and 北京城! We enjoyed the experience sharing from him and the explanation to the various attraction sites, appreciate the sweet gesture as he didn’t actually had to do that but he did so!
Room was absolutely great and spacious, extremely clean and comfortable with heaters inside the restrooms which was super nice. It was a good night rest for us.
Breakfast was their local dishes which was great too and super filling (buns, eggs, porridge, dough sticks, specialty cold dishes).
All in all, we had no complains from the time we checked in, super loved the experience and it definitely make us want to book another trip here again soon!

PPhoenix_NgThis seems to be the only hotel near the central gate of the Jinshanling Great Wall. If you don't want to stay in a guesthouse, this is pretty much your only option. I booked it for that reason, and although I was a bit worried after seeing some negative reviews, I was very satisfied with my stay. We arrived by bus from Chengde at 10 AM, and I really appreciate the front desk allowing us to check in immediately. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel's location is fantastic, just a two-minute walk to the central gate's ticket office. We had dinner at the hotel, and the price was surprisingly reasonable. Both dinner and breakfast the next day were delicious. If I had to pick a flaw, the hotel staff were a bit cold.

Wwentian802The sign of the government guesthouse is still in front of the hotel yard, and the overall style is indeed a state-owned hotel.
Let me talk about the advantages first. From the front desk to the restaurant staff, the service attitude is good. I like the Chengde accent very much. The pronunciation is clear and pleasant. There is a winding path behind the main building, with pavilions, waterfalls, small bridges and flowing water, and the scenery is exquisite.
The hotel is in a good location. Just across the road is the Lizheng Gate of the Summer Resort, which is only two minutes away on foot.
The transportation is convenient. There are nearby attractions such as the Little Potala Palace, Xumi Fushou Temple, Chengde Museum, and buses to the railway station and high-speed railway station.
The breakfast is so-so, mainly Chinese food, porridge, side dishes, tea eggs, tomatoes and eggs, tofu brain... etc., and milk, soy milk and orange juice are all relatively watery.
I booked the Guest Building for cheapness. It is in the courtyard, about 100 meters from the main building. The Guest Building is decorated at the level of a guesthouse 30 years ago. There is no elevator (friends with large luggage should be careful to book it). The wallpaper is stained and peeling, the bathroom hardware is old and rusty, the shower curtain used to separate wet and dry areas is moldy and discolored, and the towels are unusable, old and faded, and broken in clumps.
The 2.8-meter big bed in the quadruple room is a large bunk bed made of two beds. From the bedside to the wall, there is only a corridor less than one meter in the room except the bed.
There are only 2 sets of toothbrushes, but you can ask for them from the front desk; there is no hair dryer, but it is said that you can borrow it from the front desk; there is only one clothes hanger in the room, and I borrowed it from the front desk, but the front desk said there are no more.
It happened to rain for two days when I stayed there, and there was a leak in the corridor, and the carpet was wet and dirty.
By the way, you need to pay a deposit when you check in, which is rare in other hotels.
I read the bad reviews of Jiabinlou before booking, but the biggest advantage is that it is cheap. The price of just over 100 yuan is very worthwhile for this location. It is suitable for budget travelers who have a high tolerance for accommodation.
Chengde Mountain Resort Hotel has a wide range of prices from more than 100 yuan to 400 or 500 yuan, from the main building to the annex building, depending on your budget.
Overall, if you are going to Chengde Mountain Resort, this hotel is still recommended.
