Guest UserThe hotel facilities are excellent and the environment is elegant and comfortable, perfect for relaxation. The weather is still a bit chilly lately, so soaking in the private hot springs was incredibly warm and soothing. The service was also very prompt and attentive, super thoughtful. The breakfast was quite unique and delicious 😋

Anonymous UserThis trip was a last-minute decision. I booked the hotel after 1 AM and was pleasantly surprised after landing and checking in. As someone who pays close attention to hotel details, especially since Kunming is always just a layover during my trips to Yunnan, I have to say Papman is truly amazing. First, the service: I received a fresh flower basket upon check-in, and the hotel butler was incredibly attentive, responding promptly to all my requests. They even sent a freshly made cake for our wedding anniversary, which was delicious and high-quality. Second, the room amenities: The vanity had a full box of soft facial tissues, makeup remover wipes, mouthwash, and laundry detergent. There was a Dyson hairdryer, and the shower had a dry/wet separation with push-button controls. Third, the hotel's decor: Every step revealed a beautiful view, and there were multiple tea rooms available for guests to use for free. The rooftop on the third floor offered spectacular photo opportunities. Walking around the hotel at night, I was delighted to see the shadow of a deer cast by the镂空灯 (镂空灯 - 'cut-out' or 'pierced' lamps). Fourth, the food: We received complimentary afternoon tea with tasty desserts, and the late-night snack selection was extensive, including rice noodles, fried potatoes, 'bao jiang' tofu, and grilled skewers. The salted peanuts, especially the Yunnan 'xiaohua' black peanuts, were excellent; I immediately asked if I could buy a can to take home. All in all, I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit to Kunming!

Pingfandeshijie12For my recent trip around Dianchi Lake in Kunming, I decisively chose the Steigenberger Hotel and my stay far exceeded expectations! The hotel boasts a huge, free private parking lot with ample spaces and easy access, making it perfect for self-driving guests. The overall design features a strong Yunnan ethnic style, with a cloisonné enamel 'Dianchi Fu' in the lobby and Miao embroidery peacock motifs creating an immersive atmosphere. The central courtyard garden with its lush greenery and water features is incredibly photogenic.
I booked a lake-view balcony room, starting at a spacious 40 square meters. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offer direct views of Dianchi Lake and the Sleeping Beauty Hill. I enjoyed watching the sunrise over the lake from my bed in the morning and admiring the 'orange sea' sunset from the balcony in the evening. Smart room controls allowed for one-touch operation of curtains and lights. The King Koil mattress was soft, and the separate wet and dry bathroom was clean and odor-free. The soundproofing was excellent.
Facilities are comprehensive, including a free heated indoor swimming pool and a 24-hour gym. The front desk offers free bicycle rentals, allowing you to cycle along the Dianchi Greenway directly to the Wetland Park and the popular Seven-Hole Floating Bridge. In autumn and winter, you can even feed the black-headed gulls. It's just a few minutes' walk to Sunac Ocean Park, Snow & Ice World, and the Dianchi Houhai commercial street, offering a one-stop shop for dining, entertainment, and shopping without long commutes.
The breakfast buffet is extensive, featuring freshly made Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles, flower cakes, and various local snacks. The robot delivery service for small items was super convenient. The staff were warm and attentive, check-in was efficient, and they even proactively recommended sightseeing routes around the lake. It's pet-friendly and has a self-service laundry room, making it suitable for couples on vacation, families with children, or those on a self-driving stopover. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kunming!

Apr_KWe booked a Deep Sleep Pro Pillow Room after heading my friend stayed in Atour hotels in China 🇨🇳 + our great stay at Atour hotel in Dali. One of the main reasons we chose this room type was the pillow, which was incredibly comfortable and supportive in Dali. However, the pillows here were completely different :(
When we asked the reception about it, this lady first response wasn’t very helpful but another gentleman staff offered to put a “Pro 3” pillows for us to try - which wasn’t the same one :(
Thankfully, a third staff we spoke to was very kind (she worked night shift on 15th July) and took the time to contact the Dali hotel for us. We then learned that the pillow we liked was actually customized for that hotel and not a standard pillow across all Atour properties. We really appreciated her effort and excellent service 👍🏻
The room and bathroom were a decent size, but the hotel felt a little older and less modern than the Atour hotel we stayed at the night before.
16 July at 1am, pleasant surprise was the robot delivery service for food orders. The robot brought deliveries to our room remarkably quickly, and we were genuinely impressed by the speed + efficiency!
The location was average. The hotel is about an 8-minute taxi ride from Wuyi Road (五一路) and around a 10-minute walk to the nearest metro station. It is located on a neighborhood street, a temple next to hotel will hear some music instrument/prayers however it didn’t disturb our sleep in particularly.
Overall, the stay was just okay, but the experience didn’t quite match the expectations set by our previous stay at Atour Dali.
The excellent service from the helpful receptionist and the fast robot delivery service were highlights, but the inconsistent pillow experience and less convenient location were disappointing tho!

Guest UserI stayed for three nights, and overall, my experience was very satisfying. This hotel left the deepest impression on me during my trip to Yunnan. The private courtyard and hot spring gave it a real resort feel, and the quiet environment was perfect for relaxation. The breakfast quality was excellent; in addition to the usual offerings, there were freshly cooked items like pan-fried steak and fresh shrimp, which I looked forward to every morning.
The service was an even bigger bonus. Our butler drove us to the mountaintop restaurant for breakfast, and any requests we had during our stay were promptly met. The whole process felt very comfortable—not overly intrusive, but help was always available immediately when needed. When we checked out, they even thoughtfully gave us some tea as a souvenir, which was a lovely touch.
If you're looking for a hotel genuinely suited for a vacation and unwinding, I think it's definitely worth experiencing. I'll certainly come back if I have the chance.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and I can confidently say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and a level of hospitality that made me feel instantly at home.
The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable — every detail felt carefully thought out, from the cozy bed and soft linens to the perfect lighting and refreshing scent in the room. The amenities were top-notch, and everything worked flawlessly.
What really sets this hotel apart, however, is the service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. Whether it was helping me with local recommendations, arranging transportation, or simply greeting me with a smile every morning, they made me feel truly valued as a guest.
The location is excellent — close to everything I needed, yet peaceful enough for a relaxing night’s sleep. Breakfast was delicious and fresh, with plenty of variety to start the day right.
I’ve stayed at many hotels, but this one truly exceeded my expectations in every way. I will absolutely be coming back, and I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone visiting this area.

Guest UserWe are Americans from Hong Kong and traveled to Kunming for our Easter holiday. The positives of this hotel: 1. it was beautiful. The design and furnishings were very well done and the room itself was exceptionally clean. 2. The owners were so kind. We arrived way after the tea time hour, but they still provided our family with cappuccinos and fresh fruit, free of charge. Both were delicious and our children were so excited about the gourmet coffee art. 3. The mattress in the main bed area was very comfortable. Not a typical “hard” mattress like many hotels in China. Another bonus: it was actually a KING size, which we rarely see outside the US! 4. The breakfast was Chinese style and the rice noodles were delicious! The hotel also had a beautiful courtyard area to eat outside. A few items to be aware of: 1. although the hotel was in a neighborhood near the lake, the neighborhood itself was a bit strange. We could tell it was meant to be a beautiful, well-to-do neighborhood of modern villas, but more than half the neighborhood was unused and/or under construction so it wasn’t as lively feeling in the evening because it was so dark and desolate seeming. It was beautiful in the daylight though! 2. This is not a big hotel chain, just an independent boutique style hotel operating in one of these villas. 3. There are no optimal eating spots near the hotel. You have to take a 20-30 minute Didi (taxi) ride to the nearest area with a lot of restaurants. However, if you like street food, there is a street food carnival area about 10 minutes away via walking (walk north along boardwalk bordering the lake.)
Overall, because of the kindness of the owners, the cleanliness and modernity, delicious breakfast, and comfortable mattress, we would definitely choose this hotel again for a one-night stopover.

Guest UserThis hotel is incredibly convenient for catching high-speed trains or using the subway. There are plenty of snack options nearby, and directly opposite the hotel is Bailongtan Park, which offers beautiful scenery and fresh air—perfect for an evening stroll after dinner. The service was excellent; they even helped us with our luggage because we had so much, and they recommended a fantastic mushroom hotpot restaurant. The room's cleanliness was exceptional, truly exceeding our expectations. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely choose this place again if we have the chance!

The room is pretty decent and big. There's just a bit of noise as the room I got is next to a room being renovated, but it is only during the daytime. The best thing for me aside from the beautiful view, big room, and big bed is the smart toilet (I specifically check for places with bidet for my stays, and this place got a high-tech one). The hotel and cold water are also great. I appreciate that the toilet, sink, and shower are separate.
The staff are all kind and helpful. I got an issue with my DiDi account and need to book one for my scheduled tour, and the staff on duty gladly helped me book one paying for it and said I could just settle the payment later, and even escorted me to the DiDi and let the driver know I don't speak the language and to get me safely to the location. The other staff also helped me with my WeChat, which helped a lot during my whole stay in China.
The only con that I can say (if you are specific with location) is that it is not that close with the usual tourist spots like the Kunming Old Street, but it is close to the South Railway station (Kunmingnan). This is not a big con for me as I actually enjoyed the nearby malls and alleys. This is one of the good stuff here as well. It is on top of a mall, and just across the place is also a place to go shopping (for clothes, food, restaurants). There's a big supermarket/department store in the next door mall too. It also gets lively at night.
Overall, personally, I find this a great place to stay in Kunming.
