Location: Very close to the bus and train station! Convenient if you need the transport. or if you want to visit Yufuin Floral Village and Kirin Lake, it’s walkable!
Check in/out: Check in is done on the tablet on the second floor which was done pretty quickly and afterwards for check out there’s no procedure just make sure to leave at 10.
Room: More spacious than expected. It has the amenities plus appliances (fridge, microwave, hair dryer). It’s fairly clean just some things dusty like the tv remote probably because it isn’t used much.
My door was right next to the other room and sometimes when they open or close it it sounds like it was mine so i get startled haha maybe this is more on the customer side.
Overall, i stayed for 2 nights and am greatly satisfied with my stay. I would consider booking this place again if I visit Yufuin again.

The hotel is slightly over 1km from Kirin Lake and the shopping lane but it offers free bikes for use by guests and cycling to the attractions is a breeze from the hotel. In addition, the hotel offers booking for three of their onsen amenities - open air, semi open air and we xtra hot osen. Guest can book the preferred slot at one of the onsen location and by about 8pm, the hotel will allow guests to book any additional slots at any of their onsens. We managed to have slots for all three of the onsens, each was well maintained and provides you to have privacy of quiet onsens. There is a hotel lounge where you can have free flow of cold and old drinks too...

The hotel staff are mostly Korean, and the owner is also Korean. We booked a triple room on the first floor, which was conveniently close to the outdoor onsen. The room itself was spacious and clean. The onsen was also excellent.
We visited on a weekday, and it seemed like there were only two groups of guests, including us. It felt like we had the dining area and the onsen all to ourselves. Aside from briefly seeing them at the front desk, we didn't encounter the other guests at any other time.
We had booked a package that included dinner. The dinner was a delightful, multi-course Japanese meal (kaiseki-style), where each dish was introduced and served individually, only after the previous one was finished. Upon departure, a complimentary shuttle service to the station was provided.
However, getting there upon arrival was a bit tricky; we had to take a taxi (around 1000 JPY) as it involved an uphill walk, and it was quite hot. Walking would have taken 30-40 minutes.
The hotel is a convenient 10-15 minute walk from Kinrin Lake and the 'Fairytale Village.' You could easily visit these attractions in the morning, return, and then check out before departing.
If you need to do laundry, there's a coin-operated laundromat a 7-8 minute walk away (as shown in Pic 4). For those who prefer to buy their own breakfast, a convenience store is a 10-minute walk, conveniently located on the way to Kinrin Lake.

Located a convenient 10 minute walk from Yufuin station, Sansuikan is a great option if you're looking to treat yourself for a night. There are free flow snacks and drinks (including alcohol) in the lobby, and the dinner and breakfast are all-you-can-eat buffet style, also with free flow drinks. There are two onsens, M/F on the 1st/2nd floor and they swap service twice daily. Both floors have outdoor onsen (rotenburo) but the 1st floor onsen is much larger and includes a sauna. Do note the buffet signages were in Japanese only, so you may need to approach the staff for assistance if you aren't fluent. (Their staff are fluent in English.) Overall I was quite impressed with the experience for the price point. Would come back next time 😊

I didn't have high expectations, but the room was spacious and the bedding was clean. The price varies depending on the room size, layout, and type. The room we used didn't have a shower, so we had to use the hot spring facilities to wash up. Since I was planning to use the hot spring in the evening and morning anyway, it wasn't a big deal for me. However, my husband, who isn't a big fan of hot springs, had to make a special trip to the hot spring just to shower.
The room was quite spacious, allowing us to open two large suitcases. There was also a table where we could enjoy snacks and beer. As it's an older establishment, there were some peeled wallpaper and a bit of mold. However, overall, it was a well-maintained and clean place.
There are three hot springs outside (but close by). One small one is indoors, and the two larger ones are open-air baths. If there are many guests, you might have to play a 'waiting game' to avoid crowds (though this is probably true for other places too).
Dinner and breakfast are also available. We didn't opt for them.
It's about a 5-10 minute walk to the main street, 15 minutes from Yufuin Station, and 15 minutes from Lake Kinrinko. There's a Lawson, 7-Eleven, and a supermarket within a 5-10 minute walk.

The hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view from there is worth it.
All in all I highly recommend it!

Here's a review of my stay:
1. **Location and Amenities: A Quiet Corner with Easy Access**
The hotel is conveniently located, about a 7 to 10-minute walk from JR Yufuin Station, making it easy to find while also being away from the busiest commercial areas. Right next door is a Lawson convenience store, and there's a supermarket nearby, which is super handy for anyone who likes to grab snacks and drinks in the evening.
2. **Hot Spring Facilities: Highly Private ”Kashikiri” Experience**
This is truly the highlight of the inn! There are 5 private family hot springs (private baths), including both indoor and outdoor options. No reservations are needed; you just check if the light at the entrance is off, and if so, it's free to use.
**Tech-Savvy Management:** Guests can scan a QR code with their phone to instantly check the real-time availability of each private bath, saving you a wasted trip.
**A Small Tip:** If you're staying in winter, the path to the outdoor baths and some outdoor showering areas can feel quite cold. If you're sensitive to cold, I recommend prioritizing private baths #1-3, which are indoors.
3. **Dining Experience: A Hearty Yakiniku Feast**
We opted for the half-board plan, and dinner was enjoyed at a partner yakiniku restaurant. The wagyu beef was excellent quality and incredibly generous in portion. There was even a bonus offer of unlimited alcoholic beverages and plum wine, making it fantastic value for money. The Japanese-style breakfast the next day was also very filling, providing a great start to our day.
4. **Unique Atmosphere: A Paradise for Animal Lovers**
The inn has very gentle cats and dogs living on the premises. If you're lucky, the resident cat manager might even appear in common areas or even come by your room for a patrol. For animal-loving travelers, this sense of warmth and comfort is something other hotels simply can't replicate.
5. **Accommodation Details and Recommendations**
**Room Space:** The new wing rooms are spacious, blending modern comfort with traditional Japanese aesthetics.
Our charm lies in allowing guests to relax freely and at their own pace—more than preset schedules or arrangements from the hotel, guests can enjoy their own time according to their preferences. Located in a tranquil rural area, we are highly regarded as a lodging that offers the most beautiful views of Mount Yufu. From our proud top-floor panoramic bath, guests can enjoy breathtaking, sweeping views of Mount Yufu. In addition, there is an open-air hot spring bath where you can feel the breeze blowing through the basin, along with a sauna that has become popular in recent years. The ever-changing, picture-perfect scenery invites you into a moment of escape from the everyday, like stepping into a painting.

I really enjoyed my time here at the hotel because of the friendly service and the setting of the hotel where the stunning scenery of Yufu is upfront. It is tranquil and clean. Additionally, there is the Hot Springs where you can enjoy the nature outdoor soaking in the warm water. Highly recommend recommended.
A stay at Yufuin Baien Garden Resort places you in the heart of Yufu, within a 10-minute walk of Yufuin Stained Glass Museum and Bussanji Temple. This ryokan is 11.6 mi (18.7 km) from African Safari and 12 mi (19.4 km) from Hells of Beppu.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access and shopping on site.
Enjoy a meal at the restaurant, or stay in and take advantage of the ryokan's room service (during limited hours). Local cuisine breakfasts are available daily from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM for a fee.

I rented a car, so it was great to be close to the main street. On the first day, I walked out, and it took about 20 minutes.
This was my third hot spring trip, and each time I've chosen places with private baths in the room. It was so cold that the temperature of the outdoor bath dropped a bit, so even after getting out, it was chilly. However, there was also a bath inside, which we used well.
Only two large bath towels were provided per night. If you wanted more, you had to pay a rental fee of 110 yen per towel. There were no other regular-sized towels, so if you wanted to use the bath multiple times, you had to dry and reuse the same towels, which was a bit inconvenient.
If you want to take pretty photos in the bath, you need to wrap yourself in a towel, which means you definitely have to rent one. I've traveled frequently both domestically and internationally, but this is the first time I've had to pay extra for towels, which left a bad taste in my mouth.
Breakfast and dinner were just okay. The staff were friendly, but the food wasn't great. It wasn't that it tasted bad, but rather that it wasn't particularly delicious or memorable.
Please note there's no shuttle service. Still, it was meaningful to be able to enjoy a hot spring in the snow.
A long-established inn with over 90 years of history.
We offer comfortable rooms with a gentle atmosphere, themed around the delicate and beautiful traditional colors of Japan.
For both breakfast and dinner, you can enjoy seasonal delicacies that showcase the bounty of the local region.
All five baths in the facility are available for private use.
Solo travelers are also very welcome.

It wasn't an expensive ryokan, so I didn't expect much, but I was satisfied and had a good rest.
It took about 5 minutes to walk from the station, but it was easy to find because you just have to go straight down, and the room was also satisfactory.
I tried the kotatsu for the first time, and the heating was really warm.
I used the hot springs, the most popular one in the evening, and the small indoor hot spring in the morning. The most popular one is always crowded and is closed during dinner time, but I was able to go in after eating dinner and waiting for less than an hour on the chair in front of me.
They set a dinner time, but I was at 6:30, and it seems to be open from 6, but it seems like the first person who had dinner around 7:20 was the one who used it. I think it's about 30 to 50 minutes per time slot, so you can wait.
I didn't eat breakfast because I slept in late.
Very Good

Amazing
AAnonymous UserGreat onsen experience. The package with half broad, meal was great. Also the room has indoor private onsen. Should try experience (but a bit pricy 😅)
GGuest UserThis was a wonderful stay. After a short tour of Yufuin, the shuttle service I'd requested arrived in front of Yufuin Station. We enjoyed welcome tea in the lounge and were then guided to our accommodation. Having a Korean guest made it even more comfortable. The accommodation was clean and spacious, with everything we needed. The fridge was free of charge, and the coffee was delicious. Think of it as a private, standalone pension. The bathroom and sink were separate, both spacious and comfortable. The hair dryer and curling iron were also provided, which was incredibly convenient. Usually, hotel hair dryers are weak and take a long time to dry, but this one was the best! The manager and staff were all friendly, and I went with my mom and was very satisfied. The photos don't show everything, but this was the best accommodation I've ever stayed in Japan. I'd love to go back with someone special!
GGuest UserAbsolutely loved this place. The staff were so so friendly and made me feel safe although I was a solo traveller. Loved the yukata you could wear around the hotel. The private onsen is first come first serve so make sure to book early at the reception! You must get the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. One of the best meals I had including the restaurants I’ve visited during my one month stay in Japan with incredible views of the mountain. An easy 15min walk from yufuin station/bus station even with my massive luggage especially with the scenic view on the way there. And less than 10min walk to floral village and kinrin lake! Thanks once again!!
GGuest UserI stayed in this beautiful place with my mom. The house is spotless clean, room is spacious and beds are so comfy. Enjoy the view and feel relax with private indoor onsen (also outdoor onsen). The owners are kind and friendly. Breakfast is simple but delicious. Overall i love this place. Perfect for people who wants to relax in quite vibes.
The location is a bit far from the major tourist spots but not too far from the station. But it might not be suitable with the elder people because it takes around 10 mins walk to the house and also rooms are on the 2nd floor.
GGuest UserStaying at this hot spring hotel during cherry blossom season created wonderful memories for my family and me. The hotel provides a convenient shuttle service—just a quick call from the station, and within 10 minutes, a car arrives to take guests directly to the hotel.
The staff were exceptionally polite and attentive. Upon noticing that my father was using a cane, they kindly arranged a room for us without stairs, ensuring a more comfortable stay. The accommodation was spacious, featuring a private onsen and a massage chair, which made the experience even more relaxing. Since the hotel is near the mountains, there were a few insects, but it wasn’t a major issue.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and in the morning, guests could get fresh milk with breakfast. The hotel’s location was ideal—just a short distance from the shopping street and Lake Kinrin, making it easy to explore the area.
Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and we truly enjoyed the experience.
KKYUNGROKFirst of all, the staff were so kind that I felt really good the whole time I was staying at the accommodation. ㅎㅎ
I was worried that it would be too cold to sleep in the room that included a private hot spring, but I turned on the heater and slept so it was so hot that I slept with the window open. ㅎㅎ
KKa YanA hot spring hotel with one night and two meals. It is very convenient to have a private hot spring in the room. The public bath is relatively small, but not crowded. There was no one there when I went there that morning, and I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring very comfortably. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very comfortable and hygienic. The staff does not speak English very well, but they will try their best to communicate with guests through mobile phone translation and other methods, so there is basically no problem.
The food was prepared carefully, but the dinner was not to my taste, but the breakfast was a surprise. There were free popsicles, hot spring eggs and beer. The location is far from the station, 20 minutes walk, but people usually go to Yufuin to visit Yunotsubo Street. If you walk from Yunotsubo Street, it is still okay to walk there in 10 minutes. The check-out time is 12 o'clock, which is good. After breakfast in the morning, you can go back to the room and enjoy the hot spring time in the morning before leaving.
Overall, it was a very satisfactory accommodation experience. I enjoyed the hot springs and will consider staying here again next time I visit Yufuin.
GGuest UserThis hotel is nestled in the mountains, featuring terraced rice fields, which makes for a very relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped; we chose a room type with an indoor onsen bath. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) meals were also good, and I recommend the Japanese-style breakfast. The baths include both indoor and outdoor options, and overall, everything was very comfortable. The only downside was that when we checked in at 4 PM, we were told that the shuttle service for the next day was fully booked, and we'd have to pay for a taxi ourselves (even though there were empty vehicles available). Despite this, I would still highly recommend Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin for an experience.
2200852****The hotel's private hot spring bath has a wonderful ambiance, with morning mist swirling around. Breakfast and dinner are also exquisite and delicious, the Japanese service is impeccable, and the waiter speaks fluent English.
