Hotels near Yufuin Hot Spring, Yufu

The hotel is slightly over 1km from Kirin Lake and the shopping lane but it offers free bikes for use by guests and cycling to the attractions is a breeze from the hotel. In addition, the hotel offers booking for three of their onsen amenities - open air, semi open air and we xtra hot osen. Guest can book the preferred slot at one of the onsen location and by about 8pm, the hotel will allow guests to book any additional slots at any of their onsens. We managed to have slots for all three of the onsens, each was well maintained and provides you to have privacy of quiet onsens. There is a hotel lounge where you can have free flow of cold and old drinks too...

The hotel offers a drop-off service to the JR station. While it's quite close, this service is incredibly helpful when you have a lot of luggage. Our room offered excellent views of Mount Yufu. The absolute highlight was dinner: there was a vast selection of seafood, beef, and sushi, and most importantly, everything was delicious. They also had plenty of fresh fruit and sake. Additionally, drinks and snacks were available.

The hospitality was incredible from the moment we arrived, and the property itself is very charming. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize beforehand that guests with tattoos are not allowed in the onsen or sauna, which limited my overall experience and prevented me from enjoying it fully. Dinner was delicious, but I was a bit surprised that at least one beer was not included, only soft drinks were, and I had to pay extra for it. The room was beautifully arranged, although the view was not very special since it faced a Daihatsu parking lot. We noticed a small detail with the cleaning, but overall everything was very good and I truly appreciated the warm service.

This guesthouse has a story to tell in every corner, retaining some of its original Japanese style. The environment is quiet and clean. The evening hot spring bath is by reservation for one hour per group, allowing couples to enjoy a private bath together. A thorough introduction is provided before check-in. The owner is friendly and beautiful 🥰. Breakfast is a traditional breakfast (the rice is superb). I highly recommend allowing time to fully experience and appreciate every detail. Although the location is a bit far from the station (a 15-minute walk), I recommend taking a taxi from the station to the guesthouse. There's a luggage delivery service to the station upon check-out, so you don't need to rush to pick it up. You can pick up your luggage when you catch the train (luggage storage costs about 600-800 yen). You can easily stroll around Yufuin, enjoying the clean air and streets. If I had to point out a downside, it would be the noticeable dampness of the tatami mats, probably because it's near a mountain and quite humid. Also, being a guesthouse, they don't offer any services after 9 PM. We arrived very late and didn't have time to buy anything before checking in. There are no convenience stores nearby, and the guesthouse doesn't have vending machines selling food. But as long as you don't arrive right on time like we did, you won't have this problem. 🙂

hotel is near the station and easy to reach. staff is helpful and nice. have welcome tea and snack. the public hot spring is quite big. food is general and taste is ok. there is a little park inside the hotel, can see the famius mountain.

The main reason we chose Satoyama Chafu was the opportunity to soak in the hot spring while admiring the view of Mount Yufu. The hotel staff provided excellent service, and the food quality was also quite good.

The hotel staff are mostly Korean, and the owner is also Korean. We booked a triple room on the first floor, which was conveniently close to the outdoor onsen. The room itself was spacious and clean. The onsen was also excellent. We visited on a weekday, and it seemed like there were only two groups of guests, including us. It felt like we had the dining area and the onsen all to ourselves. Aside from briefly seeing them at the front desk, we didn't encounter the other guests at any other time. We had booked a package that included dinner. The dinner was a delightful, multi-course Japanese meal (kaiseki-style), where each dish was introduced and served individually, only after the previous one was finished. Upon departure, a complimentary shuttle service to the station was provided. However, getting there upon arrival was a bit tricky; we had to take a taxi (around 1000 JPY) as it involved an uphill walk, and it was quite hot. Walking would have taken 30-40 minutes. The hotel is a convenient 10-15 minute walk from Kinrin Lake and the 'Fairytale Village.' You could easily visit these attractions in the morning, return, and then check out before departing. If you need to do laundry, there's a coin-operated laundromat a 7-8 minute walk away (as shown in Pic 4). For those who prefer to buy their own breakfast, a convenience store is a 10-minute walk, conveniently located on the way to Kinrin Lake.

The most unforgettable moment of my trip to Yufuin was my stay at Oyado Kaikatei Ryokan. From the moment I checked in, the staff's bright smiles and meticulous attention to detail truly impressed me. Each member of staff genuinely welcomed me, making me feel as if I was visiting family I'd known for years. The room was impeccably clean, and I was impressed by the attention to detail. The refined Japanese interior calmed my mind, and the tranquil scenery of Yufuin outside the window was truly healing. And the meal... was truly unforgettable. Each kaiseki meal, meticulously prepared, was a truly unforgettable experience, a sight, a smell, and a taste. The delicate dishes, made with seasonal ingredients and beautifully presented, brought a smile to my face throughout the evening. More than anything, the staff's warm service was truly impressive. They were attentive to even the smallest requests and went above and beyond to make the fatigue from my trip disappear in an instant. Thanks to this kind of attentive hospitality, my time in Yufuin will be even more special and memorable. The next time I visit Yufuin, I will return here without hesitation. Korean Couple Review Location: It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the main street in Yufuin, making it less accessible than other Yufuin ryokans. However, pickup is available from Yufuin Station, so it's not a major issue. We called from a public phone at Yufuin Station and they arrived within 5 minutes. Cleanliness: While reviews are mixed, we found it quite clean. We requested a quiet room when booking, and they gave us a room at the end, away from the elevator. Service: From check-in to check-out, we experienced no inconveniences. Breakfast and dinner, as other reviews suggest, were excellent value for money. Facilities: The hot springs are similarly styled open-air baths for men, women, and private baths. Both the men's and women's baths also have indoor baths, surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds and rocks. There are two private baths, and you can use them without any time restrictions as long as there's no one else there (I think this is a plus compared to other ryokans). Because it's located off the main street, they sell beer and food on the first floor. (Unsurprisingly, the prices are a bit high. I recommend buying them at a convenience store or shop when you check in.) *I went in the summer and slept with the air conditioning on, but the noise was a bit annoying. There's nothing you can do about it... haha. Other than that, I'm satisfied with everything else.

I feel that any words can't express my wonderful experience, maybe it's more appropriate to use pictures. The Imperial Su is located in a calm countryside, there are not many tourists this season, the house is very new, there are 7 rooms, each yard has a private soup. According to the waiter, they have another old store nearby. This shop was originally a restaurant, so the meal was perfect, the visual feast plus the taste bud feast, I can say my luck is too good.
