Hoshino Resorts Kai Yufuin

The environment here is absolutely beautiful, with stunning rice terrace views right outside the room window – it's incredibly healing. The staff are very enthusiastic and even organized some local cultural activities, which was really enriching. However, the showerhead in the room didn't seem to be installed correctly, but luckily, we didn't shower in the room very often. The communal bathhouse was decent enough. Overall, it was a good stay.

The room is fully equipped with amenities, so you can literally just bring yourself. The hot spring bathhouse has two indoor pools and one outdoor pool. Towels and a water dispenser are provided on-site, and there are lockers with electronic locks for your belongings. The massage service is available in-room, and the masseuses are very professional, meticulously asking about areas to focus on or avoid beforehand.

Our family went to Hoshino Resorts together, and overall it was a good experience. The only thing is that the dinner options might not suit everyone; there wasn't a huge selection, so some might find themselves a little hungry.

Yufuin Bettei Itsuki is a bit far from the station, so I recommend booking the hotel shuttle in advance if you know your arrival time. 🙂 We bought some snacks at the convenience store downstairs before heading to the hotel, thinking we wouldn't go out again once we checked in 🤣 given the slightly inconvenient transportation.

This hotel is nestled in the mountains, featuring terraced rice fields, which makes for a very relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped; we chose a room type with an indoor onsen bath. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) meals were also good, and I recommend the Japanese-style breakfast. The baths include both indoor and outdoor options, and overall, everything was very comfortable. The only downside was that when we checked in at 4 PM, we were told that the shuttle service for the next day was fully booked, and we'd have to pay for a taxi ourselves (even though there were empty vehicles available). Despite this, I would still highly recommend Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin for an experience.
