It's been a while since I last stayed in a hotel in Hong Kong, and I'm quite disappointed. The check-in service was actually good by Hong Kong standards (those familiar with Hong Kong service will understand). However, the first room I was assigned had an odd smell, there were unidentifiable hairs around the carpet, and the chair was worn out... That really made a bad first impression. I then switched to a second room, and the carpets along the way were visibly not very clean. Perhaps I've stayed in Macau hotels more often; any brand hotel in Macau is always very clean and reassuring. These points combined made my stay feel very uncomfortable. This hotel is indeed very suitable for families with children, offering a swimming pool, a splash pool, and a kids' club (HKD 110 per hour). The breakfast was also good. The main draw of this hotel for me initially was the unbeatable sea view from the room! However, I do have a small suggestion: the curtains in the guest rooms let in light, so you'll be woken up by glaring light around 6 or 7 in the morning.

I chose this hotel purely based on a student's recommendation. She had stayed here with her child and had such a good experience that she even gave me detailed subway directions from West Kowloon Station to the hotel. Following her instructions, the first thing I saw after exiting the subway was Ocean Park, right next to the hotel, and then the distinctively designed hotel itself. Upon entering the lobby, just as my student had mentioned, most of the guests were foreigners. A polite and attentive young man and woman at the front desk checked me in. I was assigned a room on the seventh floor of the main building. The room was spacious enough, and I loved the layout and color scheme. Even though I was staying alone, the bathroom had two sets of toiletries for adults and two for children, which I assume is standard for every room. The mini-bar offered complimentary bottled water and a packet of potato chips. The hotel lobby features transparent pillars with tropical fish, and the garden pool and room decor all have a lovely marine theme. The various panda statues in the hotel garden are absolutely adorable! When I posted about it on social media, I joked that it's a hotel that makes you feel young again after staying there.

After a good experience at L'hotel Nina et Convention Centre in Tsuen Wan, I decided to try The Southmark in Nam Wan. The hotel is only two subway stops from Admiralty Station, and while it's a bit of a walk from the station to the hotel, it's still acceptable. Getting to Causeway Bay is super convenient with a direct bus. The facilities aren't as good as the Tsuen Wan branch, but they're still decent. However, the service attitude was a bit of a letdown. We arrived around noon and were told our room wasn't ready and that check-in was in the afternoon. So, we dropped off our luggage and went out for lunch. When we returned at around 10 PM, we were given a 'tail-end room' (a less desirable room, often at the end of a corridor). When I asked to change rooms, the front desk agent adamantly refused, saying there were no other rooms available and that we only got this one because we arrived late. I was like, '***?!' We arrived quite early, so we should have been prioritized. After I firmly insisted, the front desk reluctantly swapped our room. On a side note, the 'Old Time' restaurant downstairs is delicious, and the croissants near the subway entrance are also surprisingly good.

Nice and quiet location near Aberdeen centre where you can do all of your shopping and dining. The hotel caters mainly to tour groups from the Mainland that usually arrive for check in late in the evening. Members sleep early and go out early in the morning for their schedules so the rooms are empty and noiseless most of the day. Good staff. Highly recommended.

Hotel near Wong Chuk Hang MTR in Hong Kong. It's right next to Ocean Park. This place is truly a hidden gem, offering excellent value for money! We booked a sea-view room, but unfortunately, we arrived during a typhoon, so the sea view wasn't as spectacular as it could have been. Nevertheless, the room was spacious, the price was reasonable, and the service was good! I'll definitely be back!

Such a pleasant surprise! ❤️ First, the room size really stood out. If you’ve stayed in mid-range hotels in Hong Kong before, you know space can be tight. But here, the room felt noticeably more spacious and well laid out. We had enough room for our luggage and could still move around comfortably without bumping into everything. It made a big difference, especially after long days out. The cleanliness was consistently impressive. The room was cleaned every single day, towels were changed daily, and even the slippers were replaced every two days. Everything always felt fresh and well taken care of. You can tell the housekeeping team pays attention to the details. The pantry area was simple but very practical. It wasn’t overdone or cluttered, just neat and useful. Everything was organized, easy to use, and kept tidy. It was great to have a clean and functional space to prepare quick snacks or drinks. And we really have to mention Sir Edward, the night manager. He was incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived. Always smiling, easy to talk to, and genuinely helpful. After a long day exploring, it was nice to come back to someone who made you feel welcome. That personal touch really made our stay even better. Overall, Urbanwood AP Lei Chau gave us great value for what we paid. Clean rooms, more space than expected, practical amenities, and warm service. We’d definitely stay here again.

GGuest User 2026.04.02
Hotel was in a fantastic location, right next to the Happy Valley Racecourse. I was unaware though that half the hotel (typically the cheapest rooms) overlooked a huge cemetery, which was very eery..! The hotel was able to change rooms for me to a ”Course View” room, but I had to pay an extra fee. Hotel facilities were okay and room was comfy. Some of the furniture is slightly outdated and the walls are quite thin. I did really like the huge wardrobe/storage available in the room. When issues did arise (e.g. aircon not working), it was fixed immediately. The wifi never worked for me, only in the hotel lobby, so would recommend getting a HK Sim Card to get internet. Regarding transport links, these were great: the hotel is a short walk away from a Tram stop (1 minute) which gets you into Central very easily; and Taxis (use uber) are easy to hail. There is also a hotel shuttle bus on offer too.

Location: It's very close to the Wan Chai MTR station. The main entrance is on Fenwick Street, not Hennessy Road, and there isn't a large sign, so keep an eye out for it. It's also very close to the Convention and Exhibition Centre and Wan Chai Pier. Service: Quite good. Hygiene: Daily cleaning, thorough. Facilities: The room size is considered large, and the bathroom has a bathtub. You can bring your own tub liner for a bath. The breakfast is quite varied, and the afternoon tea is also excellent – eating it later can even save you dinner. Recommended.

Only stayed one night in Wan Chai and it was just right. Awesome central spot—minutes from MTR, Convention Centre, heaps of restaurants (loved the late-night food options), and easy access to everywhere. Staff friendly, check-in quick. Room felt fresh and quiet enough (good insulation for the district’s energy), bed comfy, fast Wi-Fi. City lights view added a cool vibe! Tiny note: streets are bustling (typical Wan Chai charm), so if your room faces out, it’s lively—but nothing disruptive. Perfect for a short, action-packed HK trip. Solid value and I’d return for another quick stop. Thanks!

This hotel, highly recommended by Trip.com, did not disappoint! It was my first stay here, and I was a little apprehensive at first, but it turned out to be completely unnecessary. As we were taking a taxi from the airport, we started driving up a mountain road, and my husband even joked, 'Oh no, this hotel you booked is definitely going to be bad!' Well, he had to eat his words! We got dropped off on the 18th floor, and the lobby is just one floor up on the 19th, which is also very grand and spacious. There are exclusive elevators for the guest rooms, and downstairs there's a supermarket, a food street, and more. You can get down to the main street just by going to the 3rd floor. The front desk staff were also incredibly nice and extended our check-out time. The room service was excellent too; we asked for latex pillows and extra blankets. The room itself was very new. Overall, the value for money during the May Day holiday was fantastic. Plus, there are all sorts of great eateries nearby, like Heng Xiang Restaurant, My Cup of Tea, Backhouse, Kam Fai Dim Sum, and C Dessert House, all along Chun Yuen Street! Super convenient! Wan Chai Station isn't far either! Highly, highly recommend!

LlamlllThe hotel is nestled at the foot of the mountain, offering a tranquil environment away from the hustle and bustle of areas near MTR stations. However, it's about a 20-minute walk to Central/Admiralty MTR stations, or a 6-7 minute taxi ride (around HKD 20-35). We were assigned a room on the 28th floor facing Central, and the view was absolutely stunning. We had a complete panoramic view of the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, the US Consulate, the Peak Tram Terminus, Government House, and even the distant Bank of China Tower, Standard Chartered Bank Building, and IFC. The staff were all very warm, friendly, and accommodating. They even helped bring up our food deliveries to the room. The room cleanliness was excellent. The soundproofing, however, was average; we could hear louder noises from upstairs and next door. In the mornings, we could also hear the birds chirping from the Zoological and Botanical Gardens below. The bathroom didn't have a bathtub, but there was a kitchen available for cooking. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you're looking for something a bit more unique. Compared to 5-star and 4-star hotels near MTR stations, this place offers a really good stay.

The cleaner came and knocked on the door every morning, even if there was no corresponding sign, but it's great that they constantly clean and change towels without unnecessary requests. Staff was very helpful. Highly recommend this hotel! There is also a bus stop nearby and you can get to the airport on some routes in about an hour even at night.

WWhere are the JacksWe are a family of four. Stayed for 6 days in their family room. Room size is big for Hong Kong standards at 28 square meters with two double beds. 4500 Pesos per night, great Value for money. Different themed floors and rooms. Greece, Africa, cozi penguins etc. It has a playroom for kids. gym and sauna, also a swimming pool, but it's closed, open during summertime or July. Service is great. Staff are all nice. Spoke to them in english and Mandarin. MTR and Bus are only in front of the hotel, or about 300 meters. Connected to V CITY MALL, and connected to other malls, tuen men plaza, tuen men park etc. all via connecting Bridge. You can take the 33AX bus going from and to the airport. Only cost 17 HK dollars. Oh we went to a local catholic church for the easter sunday mass. It's in front of V City Mall. MTR takes you everywhere in HK very convenient yet cheap because it's not your usual touristy area like Tsim Sha Tsui.

RRS JennyI stayed at this hotel for almost a week, and the service was genuinely excellent. One thing that stood out was how attentive the housekeeping staff were after a few days, they seemed to understand exactly how I preferred my bed and bedding arranged. Whenever that particular staff member cleaned our room, she made sure everything was kept just the way I liked it, which I found very thoughtful. The room, however, is significantly smaller than it appears in the photos much smaller, especially considering the price. That said, given that the hotel is located in Hong Kong, the size is somewhat understandable and not entirely unreasonable. The location is definitely a highlight. It’s literally about a two-minute walk to the tram, which I used frequently during my stay. This made getting around Hong Kong extremely easy and convenient. Compared to other larger hotels in the same area, this one is also relatively more affordable. In terms of cleanliness, there is room for improvement. On one occasion, after the room was serviced, my towel was replaced with one that was worn out, slightly damaged, and didn’t look properly clean. That was disappointing and not up to standard.

Bbb1979_2006I booked two adjoining double rooms. Though small, they had everything needed, and the hotel felt quite new and comfortable inside. It's located next to a highway, so there was some noise (rooms facing the small road on the opposite side would probably be quieter). I'd say the air conditioning unit was even louder. For breakfast, they offered one pastry and unlimited coffee refills. There was no bottled water in the room, and toiletries and slippers were not provided. It's about a 10-minute walk to Prince Edward MTR station. The value for money is much better than some of the older hotels.

GGuest UserMy teacher mentioned that the location is indeed valuable, and the in-room facilities aren't as bad as I imagined. However, there's a critical flaw: a complete lack of security. There's no secure entrance, or you could even say there's no real door at all. People can just walk in and out of the building freely. When I returned around 11 PM and left around 6 AM, the entrance was always wide open – not even a pretense of security. What's worse, all the sliding doors leading to the rooms upstairs are also unlocked. A random passerby could literally walk all the way up and stand right outside your room door. If you're a woman traveling alone, absolutely do not stay here. Then there's the dampness, which seems to be an inherent issue with the building's structure. It's not the kind of extreme dampness where water drips, but the moment you walk in, the air feels incredibly stagnant, with poor ventilation. The air conditioner is right above the bed, and since it's still early in the year, the weather isn't too hot yet. I can't imagine how unbearable it would be in the summer. I was assigned the smallest room on the entire floor, and it honestly felt no different from a prison cell. The bed was right up against the balcony door, making it incredibly noisy – much louder than I expected. I consider myself quite tolerant of noise, but here, it was noisy both inside and outside. When a group of college students stayed, I didn't get any sleep all night. Unless you truly have no other option, seriously, don't stay here.
