Hotels near North District, Taichung

The room is as described and shown on the pictures. I gave a 4 for cleanliness as on first night, I found hairs on the bed & a hole on the bath towel. I reported to the staff via LINE (in Taiwan they use mainly LINE to communicate). They quickly took action and offered to change the bedsheets and clean the room. As I stayed for a week, they scheduled a housekeeping on day 4 of my stay. The soundproofing is not the best but if needed earplugs are provided in the room. It was the winter in Taiwan when I was there so having a hot shower is important and the hot water is available. I like that there is water dispenser at each room level, rubbish and recycling bins are located outside so it is convenient. The location of the inn is about 15 minutes walk from the Taichung Train Station. If you are carrying large luggage, advise to take a Uber. It is near to 一中街 (yizhong street) where you can find many shops, food, etc. From the inn, cutting through the open space carpark, you will be at the shopping area. As a female solo traveller, at the start I was a bit concerned of the location of the inn. The entrance to the inn is in a alley, next to a bistro bar. You need the access card to enter the inn so that is find, just make sure it is lock after you enter. The front desk only operates from 11 am - 10:30 pm. There is an emergency hotline number to call for afterhour service. Using LINE to communicate with them is easy. There's a cafe next to the inn where you can have breakfast with discount by showing your room card. If you want to travel to places, there are many buses. If not, it is easy to get Uber. For first time traveller to Taichung, he/she will not be aware that toilet paper cannot be thrown into the toilet bowl, so it is good to have a sign to show that. Overall, the staff are friendly and helpful. For the price, it is value for money.

Box Design Hostel turned out to be a really good choice for my stay in Taichung. The location is great — close to everything, well connected, and easy to find food or transport around. The hostel is super clean. I was really impressed by how tidy the rooms and bathrooms were. Hair dryers, shampoo, and body wash were provided, which was nice and convenient. I also loved that they had free coffee, tea, and bottled water available anytime — very useful for travellers on the go! There are just a couple of downsides. The beds are quite slim, so if you prefer a spacious sleeping area, you might feel a bit cramped. Also, there are no towels provided, so bring your own if you plan to stay here. Other than that, it’s a solid hostel with a friendly vibe and great value. Would recommend for budget travellers who want comfort and cleanliness.

Decent ok hotel, proximity to tai Chung railway station less than 8 mins walk if you go by the correct route and not follow blindly on the google map, breakfast can be missed as really need improvement but good to have as not many eateries nearby, good thing is there is a gang cheng station outside and opposite the hotel which can bring you to two famous night markets - Feng chia and Yi Zhong (better), take bus 25, 33, 35, but expect long distance ride, hotel room wall is too thin so be prepared to be disturbed at all times especially at night, WiFi can be weak at times, one last complain is the no throwing of toilet paper into the toilet bowl as too inconvenient for ladies but at this price of a well renovated hotel room, this is still acceptable

The location was excellent, and the room was clean, comfortable, and tidy. It's just a 10-15 minute walk to the night market and commercial area, offering plenty of dining and shopping options. If I come back to Taichung, I would definitely choose to stay here again!

The room was a nice size for a family of four and felt comfortable without being cramped. The bathroom was a highlight, with good water pressure and the option of both a standing shower and a bathtub, which was very convenient. The location is great — Yizhong Night Market is nearby, and there are many shops and eateries just downstairs, making it easy to get around and find food. On the downside, the hotel does not provide free parking for some room bookings, which may be inconvenient for guests with a car. Basement carpark is shared with public and quite costly to park whole night.

The TV in the room doesn't work. After informing the counter staff in advance, they came to repair it, but it didn't work. I told the staff that it was okay if I didn't use it. Later, the staff called the room and said they would help us change the room. After seeing it, I found that it was an upgraded room type. The service was good and polite. The CP value is high. This room is highly recommended. It is really close to No. 1 Middle School for shopping. 👍🏻

This hotel offers great value for money. We stayed in a quad room on a weekday, and choosing the breakfast-included option was definitely worth it. Although it's an older building that's been renovated, the environment is clean, and the room is very spacious. The bed is a bit soft, but it's actually quite comfortable once you lie down. The room also has a refrigerator and a water dispenser, plus complimentary bottled water. In the evening, it's about a 15-minute walk to Yizhong Street Night Market, which is super convenient for trying out Taichung's local cuisine for dinner. The hotel only has 5 parking spaces, but the front desk provides information for a discounted affiliated parking lot for $150. We were also able to get a discount for street parking. The breakfast was simple yet delicious, with a mix of Chinese and Western options. My child said the white rice with braised pork, pork floss, and peanuts tasted like sticky rice cake. We would definitely be willing to stay here again if we visit Taichung in the future.

The mattress is quite hard, and the pillow does not provide enough support, but it doesn’t affect my sleep. The soundproofing is good and being on the 7th floor, I can’t hear traffic noise. I sleep with the lights off, but after waking up, the lights somehow turn on automatically. The basic amenities are complete, the air conditioning is cold, and the lighting is comfortable. The bathroom is spacious, but the drainage in the shower area is a bit slow, so it creates puddle after every shower. The lobby is large. There is a water dispenser and there are sofas. The location is right in Yizhong Street Night Market. Within walking distance, there are four vegetarian restaurants and a self-service laundry. Overall, it’s a good experience. Recommended 👍

Comfortable and well located stay. It's all immigrants in this area and quite a lot of homeless too. But the hotel was clean and well kept. The staff was friendly. No breakfast arrangement though.

The location is very close to the bus station, and it's convenient to walk to Yizhong Night Market. However, the hotel entrance is quite discreet, making it easy to mistake it for a similarly named hotel nearby. Although the room wasn't very large, it was clean, and the decor was new, simple, and modern, with a youthful vibe. Even though my room was directly opposite the elevator, the soundproofing was good, and it wasn't noisy. There's a water dispenser on every floor, which is super convenient. The receptionist was also very friendly, and restocking efficiency was quick. There's a breakfast place opposite, and various types of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, all very convenient. Definitely recommended!
