"I have to say, this hotel was really great, and the price-performance ratio was excellent 😊 Although there's some construction going on in the area right now, making transportation a bit inconvenient, the location is king 😎 The best part is that hotels usually charge guests a deposit (either cash or credit card, which is refunded upon check-out). But what surprised me was that they only recorded your credit card payment and didn't charge you anything, so we didn't have to worry about any follow-up on refunds 👍 This is so awesome 👏 I was originally planning to pay cash (6000 🐷) 🥲 and thought, ”Another 6000 less for shopping!” 😅 Now I'm so happy 🥳 Okay, next, let me introduce this hotel 🏨 First: 1) The hotel is above a shopping mall ☝️ (You need to take the elevator from the 1st floor to the hotel lobby on the 7th floor) 2) Hotel lobby There's a massage shop right next door. I initially thought those in hotels would be expensive 😅, but the prices were about the same as outside, so convenient! 👍 (If you don't mind what others think, you can even go for a massage in your pajamas, since the massage shop is right outside the elevator.) 3) Next, there's McDonald's and Starbucks downstairs, selling snacks 😃😃, which is a big plus 😜 4) Pratunam Mall, December, Central World, 7-Eleven, morning/night market, and the famous pork leg rice are all just a few minutes' walk away 👍 So convenient! Finally, the hotel room is spacious and the soundproofing is excellent 👏 You can't hear any road construction noise outside at all 👍 A little anecdote (from my daughter comment): ”Mom, this mini-fridge is really cold!” 😂 (Because I always complain that the hotel fridge isn't cold, hahaha) 😄 This little girl really knows her mom so well 😅"

"I have found this hotel few years ago, however we didn’t have a chance to stay there until now. I expected high standards of services and comfort of room and I can say that this hotel has definitely reached my expectations completely. It’s stylish, comfortable and rooms are spacious with everything what is needed for shorter or longer stay. We will definitely stay here again when we’ll stay for a night or two in Bangkok."

"Great family room which can easily house up to 5 pax. The table and shower facilities is slightly dated but does not affect usage and remains clean. Lovation is perfect with 7-11 right next to lobby. Mcd, starbucks and KFC are just next to hotel. Super accessible to Centralworld, Pratunum market, Platinum mall too. Highly recommend to stay. Only slight inconvenience is that the family room is at North tower, not the main tower. So need to change lift at 11th floor and walk to next tower. Lift can get crowded at peak timings."

The mattress and pillows are exceptionally plush—often cited by guests as some of the most comfortable in Bangkok. My room was immaculately clean and thoughtfully designed with: • Smart TV for easy streaming. • Reliable, high-speed WiFi. • Daily housekeeping that maintained a high standard of hygiene. Seamless Service & Thoughtful Amenities The hospitality here feels genuine. The staff are incredibly accommodating, and the free electric tuk-tuk shuttle to the BTS station is a lifesaver in the Bangkok heat. Other appreciated touches included the 24/7 complimentary coffee/tea station in the lobby and the convenient luggage-weighing scale—perfect for those planning a shopping spree at nearby MBK or Platinum Fashion Mall. Location & Local Vibe While the hotel is in a ”slower” part of the district, stepping around the corner reveals a vibrant local scene. There are multiple 7-Elevens nearby and an abundance of affordable street food stalls and massage shops that provide a much more authentic experience than the typical tourist traps. Minor Considerations • Space: Like many boutique hotels in central Bangkok, the rooms (especially the Smart King) are cozy. If you have large suitcases, you might find it a bit tight. • Sound: Soundproofing could be improved, as noise from the hallway can occasionally drift into the room. Overall Verdict: With its stylish design, superb breakfast buffet, and top-tier service, VELA be Bangkok Ratchathewi offers incredible value for money. It is an ideal choice for travelers who want to be near the city center without sacrificing the quiet, local feel of a traditional neighborhood. I would certainly return for those pillows alone!"

"the hotel is so dirty with ants and I changed rooms twice, and both times the rooms were teeming with ants and cockroaches. The 11th floor had a simpler and more modern decor, while the 17th floor was quite dilapidated. The hotel's only redeeming quality is its convenient location. It's accessible by both the airport rail link and the traditional national railway, with the Hua Lam Peak railway terminal just two baht away. The Namnueng Pier ferry on the Khlong Saeng Canal also provides access to Pratunam for eighteen baht. The hotel is located next to Ramkhamhaeng Road, with public buses providing access to Wat Yannawa, the Khun Kyi Commercial Centre, the World Trade Center, the Democracy Monument, the Victory Monument, and other landmarks. On the other hand, so noise if you stay at even number room, because this wing is face to the railway. The beafast is not changed, everydays the same."

"The place is clean and nice. The rooms is lovely. Love that the toilet and bathroom is seperate. Also happy that amenities are given upon request which minimise wastage. Only two downside. The hotel is quite a walk to the main Satorn/Silom area (about 5 to 10 mins walk depending how fast). Although there is a shuttle just need to areange your time. The other is the room have quite bad sound proofing. Not from outside but jjst outside my door. Other than than all is great"

"This is the ultimate train-view hotel. From the guest rooms, restaurant, and even the pool, you can see both the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and Airport Rail Link tracks (rooms on the opposite side of the tracks won't have this view). While there aren't a huge number of SRT trains, it's still entertaining to watch them pass by. In the distance, you can also spot trains from the Makkasan SRT factory. I think this is the perfect hotel for any railway enthusiast. However, being so close to the tracks, you do hear some train noise when they pass. As expected from Mercure, the basic services are excellent. The cleanliness, amenities, and breakfast all offer great value for money, especially considering the hotel's price point. It's about 800 meters from the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station. If you have light luggage, it's a walkable distance. Alternatively, if you call the hotel, they'll pick you up by car at MRT Exit 3. Recently, they've been using a small converted truck, as shown in the picture, instead of a tuk-tuk. Next time, I'd love to bring my train-loving son to stay here."

"I stayed at Youyen Hostel DMK recently. The room and bathroom were reasonably clean, which was good, and they also provided shampoo and shower gel. However, there were a few things that could definitely be improved. When I arrived in the afternoon, I had to wait around 30 minutes because nobody was at the reception. There were also other guests waiting at the same time. During my stay, I noticed the reception desk was often empty, so getting help usually meant waiting for someone to come back. The breakfast was quite basic, more like a light snack than a proper breakfast. Another issue was the air conditioning, which does not run all the time and only works during certain hours. The shower in my bathroom was also broken. Overall, the hostel is decent for a short stay near DMK airport, especially if you just need a budget-friendly place, but the service and facilities could be managed better."

"Great value stay with spacious, cosy, and well-equipped rooms. Conveniently located about a 6-minute walk from BTS Nana Exit 4. While the hotel shows some age, it remains comfortable and well-maintained. Service is prompt and attentive, with warm hospitality throughout the stay. "Clean and comfortable, but beware of the actual driving distance! I booked this hotel to get some rest for a few hours during a flight layover. The property itself was great—very clean, tidy, and exactly what I needed for a short stay. The front desk staff is polite and friendly. However, a word of warning to other travelers regarding the location: while it appears to be very close to the airport, the map distances are misleading. Trip.com shows it as 8.1 km away, but that is strictly a straight-line distance. When you actually route the drive on Google Maps, it is a 20 km journey. It's a perfectly good place to rest, but make sure you factor in the actual driving time and taxi fare if you are booking it purely for airport convenience."
