Hakuba Yamano Hotel

Hakuba Yamano Hotel

Hakuba
Yamano Hotel is the ultimate ski chalet in Hakuba. It's situated right across from the 1986 Olympic ski jump and just a short stroll to the Happo-One chair lift. It could even be considered a ski-in and ski-out chalet. The rooms are big and comfortable with gorgeous views of the mountains and the valley. This hotel is a family-owned and run business. The owners Mr. Keita and his wife Monica will greet you from the time you get off the bus to the time you enter the hotel parking area. Mr. Keita is an incredible concierge, always attending to any of your needs and willing to assist you with any information. He also provides a free shuttle to the lift, and if you're tired at the end of the day you can call him and he will be happy to come pick you up, even though it's a short distance. For the additional ski resorts, he is happy to make a reservation for the free morning shuttle. They will pick you up right at the parking lot of the hotel and will drop you off at the same place. So you have easy access to the 7 resorts in the Hakuba Valley right from his doorstep. Once you return from your day in the mountain, you can walk straight into a very spacious heated ski room where you can put your boards and skis on a special rack, warm your boots, gloves, ski pants and jacket so all will be ready to go the next morning. After leaving your stuff in the warm room, you can either step across the hall to enjoy their beautiful onsen inside the chalet that has a hot mineral bath, a cold mountain water plunge bath, and a fantastic wooden and hot rock sauna. An additional perk is the two massage chairs in the laundry area that you can enjoy for free. After relaxing in the Onsen and/or massage chair, you can go back to your comfortable and spacious room and relax until you're ready to have dinner at his restaurant at 6pm. And if you choose to go to other restaurants, several of them are just 5-10 minutes walk away, or there are shuttle buses you can take. The hotel also includes a delicious and abundant breakfast buffet that includes traditional Japanese breakfast of miso soup, fermented beans, Japanese rice and more; traditional American breakfast with several types of eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sausage; and traditional Continental breakfast including orange juice, freshly made apple juice, cereals, pastries, and fresh fruit. To summarize our stay at Yamano Hotel, Mr. Keita and his wife Monica made us feel at home and part of their family. That's how well they treat you. This will definitely be the place we stay next time we come to Hakuba.

Great location, close to the Nakiyama chair lift and about a 5 minute walk to the centre of the village. If the snow conditions are right, you can ski back to the hotel. The hotel is a little old, but that’s part of the charm. The rooms are a good size. We had three single beds, which we firm but comfy and crisp linen that was changed regularly. The bathroom is a standard ‘modular’ design, small but not impractical, piping hot water and spotlessly clean. Staff are very friendly, Orie was especially helpful and always with a huge smile. Breakfast was amazing, great selection of western and Japanese food. Also recommend the weekly evening Japanese buffet. We used the hotels ski hire facility. They have their own equipment, we had brand new skis, snowboards and boots. Very good quality and reasonably priced. They have a great scheme where you only pay for the days that you are skiing, so if you have the skis for 7 days but have a rest day in the middle, you only pay for 6. Worked really well. The Happo ski lift (Nakiyama) is about a 10 minute walk, or there is a shuttle bus every hour from the hotel front steps to Hakuba47, returning to the hotel every hour at the end of the ski day. They have their own in-house Onsen, which is fabulous. They have inside and outside baths, but I must say sitting in the outside bath, which looks out over the mountain and the Olympic ski jump...after a hard days skiing, is a delight. I would highly recommend staying here, great value, staff, amenities, food, location...... we will go back.

This is my first time skiing in Hakuba. A friend recommended this hotel. I really want to praise the location. It is just 200 meters from the entrance of Wulong, which can be said to be ski in/out. And there is snow in Tokyo that goes directly to the hotel from the airport. The bus is very convenient, and it is also very convenient to take the shuttle to other ski resorts in the morning. In short, the location is really great for skiing! It's not very convenient to go to the convenience store, it takes 20 minutes to walk, but the ski hall has a lot of food, and it's still acceptable in the village. Occasionally, you can take the beautiful owner's car to go shopping at the convenience store! In terms of facilities, there is a drying room for snowboards, a restaurant, a KTV, and a billiards room. You can drink and sing in the village. I really cried to death😭 God knows it is so boring at night. I am so happy to see that there is a KTV. In terms of hygiene, there are little brothers every day. In terms of cleaning, I have stayed in many hotels near ski resorts. I can only say that I can’t choose this one! In terms of service: I have to praise Miss Mio Jiang! When he saw me holding instant noodles, he helped me make instant noodles😭I was so moved that I cried! Long, good-looking and very helpful! I'm not familiar with transportation and they helped me book a ticket! I give this young lady 100 stars! ! !

Hakuba Hotel Paipu No Kemuri

Although it has already passed the winter skiing season, the white horses only open the ski resorts on the top of the mountain. The hotel can also provide real-time information on the ski resorts. The day is relatively deserted, the restaurant has fewer choices for breakfast and dinner, and the taste is still good. The hot spring has become a personal package. box

A very special experience, the family hotel, the landlord and the family are really enthusiastic, and feel a different Japan in this quiet small village. First of all, we went to Baima in December. The snow is not early enough this year, so many ski resorts have not opened, and the surrounding facilities are naturally not open. Basically, it takes time to take a shuttle bus to the ski resort, and taxis are a bit expensive. The landlord’s son would take the initiative to ask what kind of ski resort he was going to today and what kind of help he needed. I said that I wanted to send the child to the nursery. He took the initiative to drive us to the nursery. He also called all the nurseries around him. The landlord will make some small snacks for the hotel guests every day. The last day of 2019 is hand-made rice cakes. The babies are very happy to watch and have eaten cakes for many years. Finally, we set off back to Tokyo and booked the bus. The bus station was actually nearby. The host’s mother specially arranged a car from their hotel to take us there. I was moved every day during the 4 days I stayed here. We are from a big city. This small hot spring hotel is a public restroom and bathhouse. I wasn't used to it at first, but believe me, staying for 2 days will make you feel different.

Such a lovely family operated hotel right on Happo one. And ski in/out to on of the chairlifts. Upon arrival, they have shoes for you to wear inside as no shoes allowed. Most guests left their shoes in the shelves at the entrance. We took ours up to our room. We had a 3 single bed room and it was perfect. There was a desk, kettle, tv, 2 cupboards and a large couch, plus a balcony over looking town and the hills in the background. Beautiful views every morning. The bathroom was a little small, but it worked! Very deep soaker tub which I used. Towels were a little thin but did the job. In the lobby there is a microwave for guests to use. Perfect if you are grabbing a snack or meal from Lawsons and it needs heating up. Also on the ground floor is a laundry with 4 washing machines, no drier but we hung our clothes up in the room overnight and they were dry in the morning. Plus on a side entrance is the locker room for all your ski stuff. Each guest gets their own locker. We loved coming back after all day skiing to find room service had put the heater on high to warm us up! Breakfast was ok, it was the same everyday so did get a bit bland. You received a plate of scrambled eggs, either sausage or bacon (alternates), 2 slices of fruit (either grape fruit, orange, pineapple) and a small bowl of salad. Plus at the buffet there was a selection of croissants and rolls, miso soup, rice cereal and juice. Plus tea and coffee. We left full every morning. We didn’t use the chairlift near (it’s right there, no huge walk) the hotel as that run, although beginner looked a little steep. But the other chairlifts were so close (5 min walk to Evergreen ski school). The only downside was THE HILL. It was a climb every time to get back up the the hotel. There aren’t any restaurants right there so you do have to venture down. The shuttle stops are only a 5-10min walk down (unfortunately that means up in the afternoon!) but there are lots of places to eat down THE HILL. Would I stay here again? If I was to ski solely at Happo, yes, but there are so many different mountains in the area as well. English is not spoken by all the staff, but at reception there was one lady who did a great job and helped out everytime. Another woman would just jump onto google translate without hestitation!

We used 2 nights on the three consecutive holidays in February. The location is outstanding and within 30 seconds walk of the Happo Bus Terminal and 1 minute convenience store. The room was large and the toilet (washlet) was very beautiful. The hot spring on the top floor was hot and could not enter for a long time, but the body warmed from the core. This time it was a night stay, so it is unrated about the meal. Even if I asked for early because of the rain, I would check in, and even if I was scheduled to stay alone, I was happy to take it. The grandfather at the front desk (owner?) is certainly unique, but let's laugh and receive it. I didn't ski, so I didn't know it, but I laughed at the fact that it was the most luxurious in Hakuba. It was very kind and kind if you talk about it. I would like to use it if I have another chance.

Superb little hotel with fantastic staff and great food. We stayed 3 nights and would have liked to stay more :) Before we had even arrived, we had asked a few questions by email and the staff were exceptionally helpful. So we were pretty confident we would be looked after when we actually landed in hakuba. We arrived into Happo bus terminal and were picked up in a private transfer (Although the hotel is approx 3 min walk from the bus terminal!). But it removed the stress and got things off to a great start. We arrived around lunch and wanted to ski that afternoon, so the hotel gave us a ski pass at a great rate and contacted the ski gear rental company to come collect us. The room was perfect. We stayed in a basic room as there were no other rooms available. So meant we didn’t have an in room onsen. But honestly, we didn’t miss it. The onsen you can book for an hour is lovely. It wasn’t ever really booked up. It was really clean and an incredible way to end the day. We had a bit of a mix up and someone else staying at the hotel “accidentally” took our onsen booking. Quite a surprise when we turned up and there were people in there 😂. The hotel staff were great though, they closed one of the other two public onsens for an hour for us. They are normally reserved for just male/female only. This was a great touch and rescued what was going to be a bit of a lost evening given we had come back especially for our onsen booking. Breakfast the following day was awesome. We had the Japanese breakfast which came with lots of little dishes, all of which were delicious. Maybe the best miso soup we’ve had! Worth mentioning that I am a vegetarian, and they accommodated this with zero fuss! Switched up a few dishes for veggie ones. Which was really appreciated. I was all set to just eat cereal for 3 days! We also ate dinner at the hotel which was fabulous. Lots of little dishes all of which looked and tasted great. Again, I had a whole different vegetarian menu, with some really unusual, innovative dishes that were delicious. Didn’t think I’d have one of the nicest quiches I’ve ever had in a Japanese ski resort! Price was reasonable as well for what was a really nice dinner. All in all, highly recommend. Thanks to all the staff!
Courtyard by Marriott Hakuba

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. The hotel and rooms are clean and comfortable. The lack of vegetarian / vegan food options was disappointing considering this is a Marriott Hotel. The resteraunt may not be theirs, but still expected better. The staff were very helpful, although the hotel shuttle to drop us to the station was only available for a 30 minute timeslot in the morning. Strange, but not a problem. Location is good, still has a feel that it could be a lot better by just making small improvements. Its the details that matter, at least that is why we booked Marriott. Still, we would stay here again (and maybe bring our own food).
