"Very good accommodation, good room, very lovely staff!!! Friendly, kind, can speak English fluently. If I come back to this city again, I will definitely come back here again. The room is very good, hot heater, hot water, there is a bathtub to soak in, delicious breakfast. When we went it was winter, the accommodation will have a pick up service to the station area, but when we went there were few people, so they took us to the tourist area as well. And in the evening, they picked us up and returned to the accommodation, including dropping us off so we could catch a bus to go to another city."

"An older-style hotel, but very clean. It has separate onsens for men and women. Breakfast is served as individual sets. The hotel also has a dinner restaurant, which is convenient because going out to eat without a car isn't easy. The futon-style bedding was comfortable and warm. The bathroom was a bit small. It snowed while I was there, and it was beautiful because the hotel is located in the mountains."

"Family hotel, the hotel is very simple, the transportation is very convenient, the room is cold and hot, and it is impossible to take a shower. But the hotel's own hot spring is great and the breakfast is delicious. The boss is family-friendly. But the 1600 New Year's Eve can't be said to be cost-effective"

"I really liked this hotel. My first impression was actually better than expected because the photos on the website don’t do it justice. In real life, the hotel looks much nicer and more modern than in the pictures—it doesn’t look old at all. Everything felt clean and well maintained.
I also really liked that the hotel has a ski rental shop inside the building, which was very convenient since I didn’t have to walk far. Returning the equipment was also very easy—you just drop it off.
The only thing I wish they had more of was the laundromat, especially the drying machines, as they were quite limited. Other than that, I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this hotel."

"It was a very comfortable stay. The room was especially clean, the staff were attentive, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. It was only a one-night stay, but it was a great experience, especially when combined with the various experiences I had in Hakuba. The only thing I noticed was that the shower water made a big mess on the bathroom floor, even though it was a twin room. If I have the chance to return, I'd like to have dinner there as well."

"Ideal location. The rooms in the main building have bathrooms. The rooms are large. The view outside the window is beautiful. There is wifi. Parking is convenient. However, the drying room does not have much drying effect. The room has heating. The hotel is actually very good in all aspects. High cost performance. You can choose to add some small purse breakfast. Because I went skiing early in the morning, I had to add it. It is a Japanese breakfast. Don't expect too much in style."

"The most important thing is that the hot water is very hot and makes washing comfortable. The heating in the room is sufficient. The service at the front desk is friendly. The breakfast is not luxurious but not disappointing. You can eat it every day. I was a little worried after reading the reviews of other travelers. It is just for skiing. This hotel is economical and affordable. There is also a drying room where you can store your equipment. Oh, and there are also free shuttle buses to and from various ski resorts, which is very convenient."

Amazing
CChloe Lim SanThe heart warming and hospitality of this family is one of my best experiences in Japan.
It was my first time traveling to Hakuba and it was snowing heavily. Masanori san was busy with dinner but he had his daughter to pick me up instead (she have left for university so I reckon on normal days, he will have to go out of his way to pick passengers if they needed.) One key thing to note was to specify where you are properly because i took a bus and they didn’t stop me at the interchange but instead they dropped me off at the Hakuba stop (outside North Face shop) so it was quite confusing and they couldn’t find me at first.
The room is very spacious and the morning snowing view was really nice. The free Hakuba shuttle bus is just one minute away and it comes every hour, you can have breakfast at 7/7.30am and take the shuttle bus at 8/9am (might not come on time but just be earlier as there are many others taking the same bus). In house Onsen was decent with hot enough water but will be perfect if only it was outdoors (more for the ventilation and view).
The dinner made by Masamori san was one of the main reasons why I booked this hotel - French cuisine. It is delicately made and ingredients are carefully sourced, you can literally taste the freshness of their ingredients. Book at least one day in advanced!
At 84, their granny got to be the cutest and sweetest, we sang that one or two Japanese song she knew and she was so happy she served us tea, we kind of almost feel bad that she is serving us but after speaking to her daughter knowing that it is working there that keeps her body strong and makes her happy (so during Covid, she was feeling weak).
And also they link up with Lion Gear for all rental of everything you need. You just have to let Masamori san know and he will arrange for them to pick you up at your preferred time. After choosing your gears, he said they will send me to the slopes (went Goryu/Hakuba 47), but they didn’t and instead they sent me to Happo and I had to bring my gears and walked 20-30mins to the bus stops and paid for the V2 buses (the larger buses are not free - so you got to pay 800Yen per person). After I told Masamori san the story, he was really apologetic and immediately called them up. The next day, he got them to compensate me for the trouble and it really did helped ease the not so great experience and time wasting - the Lion gear boss was generous in compensating and explained that it was their new staff and they didn’t follow the previous arrangements.
Supermarket is about 15-20mins walk away, can be pretty cold but the walk is really nice, proper walking path with snow built up like walls.
All in all, I will still rate this place 9/10 for the hospitality and sincerity of this family, the food and the spaciousness of the room! Highly recommend you to go for the French dinner!

CchoiBooked for 1 night but stayed extra nights … the lodge / hostel is run by a family and you can feel the care they put into it, making everyone welcome and safe during and after the hikes.
Instead of filling up the rooms they made sure all the guest was comfortable and split up all the guest with half filled rooms. Free coffee and drop off to the tourist center and JR station, cooking station etc

AAnonymous UserThe price is quite expensive during the snow season. The room with a big bed is 5000+, and adding a sofa bed is 300 more. This hotel is marked as a four-star hotel, but it is marked as a three-star hotel by Google search. It is not run by local Japanese people, and the sanitary environment is really average. The large bath is sticky, there are floating hairs in the pool, and towels are thrown everywhere. The room uses carpets, but the vacuuming is not thorough. I have to wear a mask and turn on the purifier to feel comfortable because of dust allergies. The breakfast is all European, without any Japanese soup or the like, and mainly cold food. I wanted to use the dryer, but when I entered, there were socks all over the floor, and the dryer was full of black hair. On the day of the pick-up, it was promised to arrive in 15 minutes, but I waited for 30 minutes and called again to say that there were other things on the way. Not recommended, if you want to come to Hakuba, it is recommended to book another hotel.

We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm.
Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice.
We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.

__Miss_Koo_Location: The hotel is located in the mountains, far from Hakuba JR Station or Happo Bus Station, requiring a car to get around. If you're taking the hotel shuttle bus, check the schedule on the hotel's website for fixed times and locations. You can arrange for pickup using the free internet phone number on the Ctrip app (a big thank you; I only discovered this feature when I was feeling down) or by contacting the hotel front desk an hour in advance. Otherwise, it would be embarrassing if you didn't have a car.
Facilities: We stayed in the West wing. There was an indoor private bath on the second floor, and two outdoor private baths and a public bath in the East wing. There were free massages, an indoor ping-pong table, and free ice cream and coffee milk. The public bath also had one large pool and three small ones. Perhaps because it was a weekday in July, the hotel was less crowded, so the baths were quite comfortable. Overall, the facilities were well-maintained and clean.
Food: We only had breakfast at the hotel, and while the selection was limited, the aged mackerel and salmon were delicious, and the juices were fresh, the baked goods were quite average.
Overall, my husband and I both like this hotel very much, and we like the rural life in Baima Village even more.

JJovaI am very satisfied with this hotel, the location is great, the staff is friendly and the room is comfortable.
The room was very comfortable in terms of lighting, temperature and bedding. I would especially like to praise the housekeeping sister for keeping the room very clean. The room has two terraces, one of which overlooks the Happo-One Ski Resort.
We stayed for six nights and the breakfast food was roughly the same every day, but also rich. We had dinner at different restaurants in the hotel on three nights. On the first night, we had a buffet dinner in the hotel with a wide variety of food. On the second night, we had Western food at The Forest next to the hotel. On the third night, we had Japanese food at The Forest next to the hotel. The prices in all three restaurants were not expensive but the food was delicious.
The Dry Room for ski equipment is outside the hotel. It is a real drying room with a machine for drying snowshoes. It is not the so-called Dry Room in some hotels which is actually just a Locker room.

CChooFeels like home. 10 minutes walk away from hakuba goryu escal plaza. a few eatery nearby so nothing to worry about food. No problem to communicate in English. and the owner they are so helpful and they are one of the nicest person I have ever met. yes, i will come back again to hakuba the next ski season, and i will stay here.
