"The price is quite expensive during the snow season. The room with a big bed is 5000+, and adding a sofa bed is 300 more. This hotel is marked as a four-star hotel, but it is marked as a three-star hotel by Google search. It is not run by local Japanese people, and the sanitary environment is really average. The large bath is sticky, there are floating hairs in the pool, and towels are thrown everywhere. The room uses carpets, but the vacuuming is not thorough. I have to wear a mask and turn on the purifier to feel comfortable because of dust allergies. The breakfast is all European, without any Japanese soup or the like, and mainly cold food. I wanted to use the dryer, but when I entered, there were socks all over the floor, and the dryer was full of black hair. On the day of the pick-up, it was promised to arrive in 15 minutes, but I waited for 30 minutes and called again to say that there were other things on the way. Not recommended, if you want to come to Hakuba, it is recommended to book another hotel."

"It was a very comfortable stay. The room was especially clean, the staff were attentive, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. It was only a one-night stay, but it was a great experience, especially when combined with the various experiences I had in Hakuba. The only thing I noticed was that the shower water made a big mess on the bathroom floor, even though it was a twin room. If I have the chance to return, I'd like to have dinner there as well."

"What an awesome experience! The hotel offered exemplary service before we even arrived. Due to special travel arrangements, we arrived late and the staff quick to arrange an in-room bento dinner for us before our arrival. When we got there, we were immediately blown away by the gorgeousness of the hotel.
Despite its age, everything was very clean and polished. I can see that great care had been taken to upkeep the hotel and it’s premises, which are extraordinarily beautiful. We couldn’t resist taking pictures even after check-out, and it took us an hour to finally reluctantly leave. Words cannot actually do the place justice, you must visit there yourself.
We were very impressed with how delicious the food was, and the attention to detail, including the placement of the food, the coordination of food color. My mouth is still watering as I recall how delicious it was. I had 10 helpings of their prime rib one day. Besides, I had a dietary restriction and the staff were really careful with that, to the extent of reminding me what dishes not to eat everyday at their breakfast and dinner buffet.
In addition to excellent food and service, the hotel went out of its way to be very eco-friendly. For every day that we did not need our room to be tidied, we earned points, which can be traded in for ice cream or other goodies.
Finally, the staff spoke perfect English. This is rare indeed, and it made everything so much easier and so much more enjoyable. Thanks for the experience!"

"The hotel service was great, and the hot springs were fantastic – loved the milk too! The East Wing is more convenient for accessing the public hot springs. However, I have to complain about the restaurant. There was a typo on the menu (appetizer listed as '24mouth' instead of '24month'), and when I kindly pointed it out, they acted as if I was deliberately looking for trouble. The shrimp on the second day wasn't fresh, and the chef wasn't very friendly when they brought out a replacement dish. This restaurant seriously dragged down my overall hotel experience. The poor service in the restaurant alone cost them two points."

"The room looks more stylish, but the bathroom is small and smelly... The design of the suite is also strange. You don't need to take off your shoes in the bedroom, but you have to take them off in the living room... The service is really good, and you can pick up and drop off the ski resort at any time! "The staff tried their best but their English proficiency was a problem. Having to catch shuttle buses to the ski fields every day was frustrating - they were usually very crowded and infrequent (even though we travelled there out of peak season). The hotel was out of the ski boot size that one of our group needed. There was very limited (hardly any) vegetarian food available even though we had requested it before departure (some of our group were vegetarians). There were no English speaking television stations. The hotel was beautifully presented with great housecleaning and the onsen was much appreciated."

"The best part about this hotel was definitely the breakfast – they had everything from Japanese to Western options. I especially loved the soba noodles and the fried eggs. The coffee was good too, and they offered various egg rolls. The room itself was quite spacious; we had no trouble fitting our two large suitcases. However, the bathroom was a bit small, feeling somewhat disproportionate to the rest of the room. The other hotel facilities were pretty basic; there wasn't much to attract us beyond just needing a place to sleep for the night. Because of this, paying over 3100+ per night (including breakfast) felt a bit expensive."

"I initially considered booking another hotel, but reviews suggested the dinners were all Western food and of mediocre quality. However, I stumbled upon Hotel Hakuba, and reviews praised its excellent breakfasts and dinners. Since we were staying in Hakuba for five nights, good food was crucial for us. I'm so glad I chose Hotel Hakuba. All the staff were incredibly welcoming, and there was a free shuttle service from the JR station. The hotel lounge area was beautifully decorated with flowers. The rooms were much larger than they appeared in the pictures. Dinner was incredibly lavish and delicious, and breakfast had a wide variety of options. There were free shuttle buses to all the tourist attractions. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is close to the JR station, Oide Park, and Snow Peak. There's also a large supermarket nearby. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Hakuba."

"The accommodation is not far from a famous ski resort, about 5 km by car. It's a community-style hotel with bunk beds in the rooms. There's convenient parking. Overall, it's okay, the only drawback being that the rooms might be a little small."

From the moment we arrived, the caretaker's service was truly exceptional. They were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Their warmth and professionalism made a huge difference.
The house itself was spotlessly clean and very well-maintained. It was clear that great care is taken to ensure the comfort and hygiene of the guests.
As a whole-house rental with three spacious bedrooms, it was perfectly suited for our family. There was plenty of room for everyone to relax comfortably.
One of the major conveniences was the fully equipped kitchen. It had every single cooking utensil and appliance we could possibly need, which made preparing meals for the family easy and enjoyable.

CChloe Lim SanThe heart warming and hospitality of this family is one of my best experiences in Japan.
It was my first time traveling to Hakuba and it was snowing heavily. Masanori san was busy with dinner but he had his daughter to pick me up instead (she have left for university so I reckon on normal days, he will have to go out of his way to pick passengers if they needed.) One key thing to note was to specify where you are properly because i took a bus and they didn’t stop me at the interchange but instead they dropped me off at the Hakuba stop (outside North Face shop) so it was quite confusing and they couldn’t find me at first.
The room is very spacious and the morning snowing view was really nice. The free Hakuba shuttle bus is just one minute away and it comes every hour, you can have breakfast at 7/7.30am and take the shuttle bus at 8/9am (might not come on time but just be earlier as there are many others taking the same bus). In house Onsen was decent with hot enough water but will be perfect if only it was outdoors (more for the ventilation and view).
The dinner made by Masamori san was one of the main reasons why I booked this hotel - French cuisine. It is delicately made and ingredients are carefully sourced, you can literally taste the freshness of their ingredients. Book at least one day in advanced!
At 84, their granny got to be the cutest and sweetest, we sang that one or two Japanese song she knew and she was so happy she served us tea, we kind of almost feel bad that she is serving us but after speaking to her daughter knowing that it is working there that keeps her body strong and makes her happy (so during Covid, she was feeling weak).
And also they link up with Lion Gear for all rental of everything you need. You just have to let Masamori san know and he will arrange for them to pick you up at your preferred time. After choosing your gears, he said they will send me to the slopes (went Goryu/Hakuba 47), but they didn’t and instead they sent me to Happo and I had to bring my gears and walked 20-30mins to the bus stops and paid for the V2 buses (the larger buses are not free - so you got to pay 800Yen per person). After I told Masamori san the story, he was really apologetic and immediately called them up. The next day, he got them to compensate me for the trouble and it really did helped ease the not so great experience and time wasting - the Lion gear boss was generous in compensating and explained that it was their new staff and they didn’t follow the previous arrangements.
Supermarket is about 15-20mins walk away, can be pretty cold but the walk is really nice, proper walking path with snow built up like walls.
All in all, I will still rate this place 9/10 for the hospitality and sincerity of this family, the food and the spaciousness of the room! Highly recommend you to go for the French dinner!

GGuest UserWhat a nice place to stay! We are a family of 5 and we loved staying at Meteor Garden. We booked a room with 4 beds, because our baby was sleeping in her own travel cot. Beds and linen are comfortable, shared bathroom and shower are clean, media room was fully equipped. We also had a free use of the laundry washing and dryer, which is convenient. Staff was awesome, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very good. Grocery shopping was easy, just around the corner. Access to the slopes was alright, with free shuttles to Happo-one and Goryu every half an hour, stopping right in front of the accommodation. We stored our snowboarding gear into the allocated drying room. The driver picked us up on check in day from Escal Plaza, and drove us to the Happo bus terminal on the check out day. He also drove us a couple of times to the slopes when we missed the shuttle. We'll come back for sure!

I went in the middle of summer, but it was so cool and comfortable that I was able to sleep with the windows open at night without turning on the air conditioner. I was a little worried about the unisex toilets on the second floor, but the toilets on the first floor were separated for men and women, so I used the one on the first floor.
The owner was also very kind, and after checking out, he drove me to the nearest station. This was very helpful as I had a lot of luggage. The price was also reasonable, so I was very satisfied. I would like to use this hotel again on my next summer trip to Nagano.

We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm.
Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice.
We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.

PPunziizThis hotel is beyond my imagination. OMG ! The place was so amazing I chose Chalet with my family member 8 persons. They really in love with the place and all speak the same that we will definitely come back again ! The owner has a service to bring you to the supermarket at 4 pm everyday. That's awesome we can do cooking and enjoy precious meals with our family. There are not many houses here so it is the best option for anyone who looking for the cozy places and can also enjoy the wonderful snowy view. Thank you Ms. Hana to take care of us along the stay ! :)))

GGuest UserOur stay at Wakata Hakuba Lodge was truly wonderful from the moment we arrived until check-out.
We arrived early, together with another couple who were also waiting for their room. Mr. Lu warmly welcomed us and provided plenty of helpful information about the area. As we had time before check-in, he kindly offered to drive us out so we could have lunch and explore the surrounding shops and cafés. This thoughtful gesture immediately made us feel well taken care of.
We had the hotpot dinner during our stay, and it was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we even ordered extra chicken! It was a very satisfying and comforting meal.
Unfortunately, our train departure was very early, so we were unable to try their Japanese breakfast as it is served at a fixed time. However, the kindness did not stop there. The driver who sent us to the station noticed that we had not had breakfast. Since we were leaving early, he kindly contacted the kitchen to prepare some toast for us to take along. We were deeply touched by this considerate gesture.
