Hotel Atlantic Palace ★★★★

📍 Via Nazionale, 12, San Lorenzo, Florence

"This hotel is a complete dump. The facilities are old and run-down, the curtains don't block out any light, and you can hear everything through the walls. On top of that, the staff are rude."

Mercure Firenze Centro

Mercure Firenze Centro ★★★★

📍 Cin: It048017a1riewiogs, Via Nazionale, 21/23 R, Santa Maria Novella, Florence

"Staying at the Mercure Firenze Centro was an excellent experience, largely due to its prime location! Being right next to the train station made it incredibly easy to get to, even with heavy luggage, which is a huge plus for travelers. It's about a 10-minute walk to the Duomo, a bit of a distance but perfectly manageable. The room design was modern and comfortable, with a warm and stylish ambiance thanks to the orange feature wall and artistic decorations. My only disappointment was with the water dispenser. It worked fine on the first day of my stay but broke down afterward and remained unrepaired for the next three days, which affected my daily convenience. Overall, my experience was still very satisfactory, especially for travelers looking for convenience and good value for money. I'd suggest the hotel improve its facility maintenance response; more attention to detail would make it even more perfect. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone planning to explore Florence!"

Oltrarno 1881 Apartments ★★★★

📍 Piazza dei Nerli, 11, San Frediano, Florence

"An incredible experience of simple but excellent detail and sumptuous furnishing in this wonderful apartment. Very comfortable for 4 adults . We were 3 . We took the secret garden apartment for a 5 day visit . It was beyond our own expectations having read the reviews - It is run by the Hotel but it’s an independent building away from the Hotel . The hotel are available for any assistance and we found them extremely helpful . Every day we were overjoyed with the style and comfort of this beautiful apartment furnished in the best and most comfortable furnishings- this is a smart apartment- learn how to use the IT and you are off to a great stay . Wifi - Bluetooth- TV and full smart features. Instructions on all appliances on the tablet - go look about and you will find your directions and answers to your questions- if not call the hotel who were extremely helpful . Take cloths for the kitchen - and cleaners for the WC . Nothing apart from towels are provided for the bathrooms. Dishwasher - washer dryer and heated towel rails all excellent. Only negative is that there is no where in the bathrooms to place your toiletries- as it’s no minimal in design - however we got over it as we are aesthetically obsessed- well I am 😌. If you are used to self catering this is a class of its own . And great value in one of the best and coolest parts of town in the heart of San Lorenzo- 15 mins stroll to the Ponte Vecchio. We would return without question. It was like staying in a designer show flat and we loved every minute. Enjoy ."

"The hotel is about a 10-12 minute walk from the train station, on a very quiet street. It's a bit away from the main attractions, but they're easily reachable on foot. And of course, the rooftop! It has a restaurant and a pool! It's perfect for just sitting back and enjoying the domes and rooftops of Florence. I had a single room with a cool round bed))). The hairdryer was really powerful. Breakfast was excellent – they can make omelets, and there's smoked salmon and proper coffee, not just from a machine. My only downsides are that it would be great if they provided complimentary bottled water daily. Also, if a hotel has a pool, I think slippers and a bathrobe are essential. I visited in April, and it was quite chilly getting out of the water in the evening, so a bathrobe would have been very welcome. I definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again on my next visit."

"Right by the train station, super convenient! They even let me check in at 11 AM and stored my luggage for free. The staff were all really friendly. They helped me with my takeout order, and when I checked out, one staff member chatted with me, saying he'd been to Shanghai and planned to visit Beijing next. When I came back for my luggage, a female staff member saw I was struggling a bit and heading for the accessible ramp, but she just grabbed my bag and carried it down for me. 🤠 The single room was small, just like in the pictures. The only downside was the soundproofing wasn't great, but for the price, it was excellent value for money. Parking was also convenient right next door, though a bit pricey at 30 Euros a night."

"Not far from the train station, and the breakfast was good. The elevator is a bit cramped, but there's a pretty decent Chongqing hotpot restaurant nearby on the ground floor."

"First off, great crew at the front desk. Whether it’s answering my calls requesting the ironing board, or calling a cab for me the day of my departure, they were always available and willing to help. The issue is they might have overdone it in one instance when I put a note on the room door before leaving asking not to be disturbed and came back to see someone had gotten into my room, changed sheets and towels + “arranged” my stuff. Nice intention but got me confused looking for certain things. The gym was also a little disappointing: tiny, very limited equipment and only fit for one person at a time. It’s really a space to do yoga and stretch, with one treadmill. But it helped nonetheless. The real elephant in the room was the location. I found this hotel looking for a place in Florence and this is very misleading from the booking platforms. The city is Prato, there are no Ubers, public transit tricky to navigate (walk 10-15 minutes + take 2 buses and a train to get to Florence in a trip that totals 1h30 min on average) and taxis are rare + expensive (the cheapest I paid was 50€ for a 13 min trip to the airport). Not to mention most taxi drivers are clearly scamming you because they know you’re desperate, turning off their meters and asking you to pay cash. Overall, not my most memorable experience and would only recommend if you’re staying in Prato. If you plan to visit Florence and are tempted to book a cheaper hotel north of the city, think twice."

Grand Hotel Baglioni ★★★★
"A surprisingly delightful stay with a unique blend of modern and vintage decor. The location is superb; easily accessible right after getting off the train. It's just a few minutes' walk to the Florence Cathedral (Duomo), with plenty of restaurants and cafes along the way, making it incredibly convenient. The front desk was managed by a very friendly and patient older gentleman. The facilities were excellent too, and the creaky old wooden elevator added a charming touch of nostalgia. The minibar offerings—water, juice, and snacks—were complimentary and replenished daily, outshining most five-star hotels. I will definitely be back to stay here again."

"Great location, right on the street, making it convenient to take the train to attractions. The room type itself is fine, and the air conditioning kept it cool. However, the front desk assigned a bad room and was unwilling to acknowledge or resolve the issue."

Oltrarno 1881 Apartments ★★★★
"My security deposit of €200 was kept due to a plumbing issue that had absolutely nothing to do with me. After this happened, I looked at other reviews and discovered this appears to be a recurring issue—many guests report losing their security deposit with little to no explanation. It seems like a shady business practice, and I would strongly advise against booking with Oltrarno I88I Apartments unless you’re okay with potentially forfeiting €200 for arbitrary reasons. Beyond that, the apartment itself was not enjoyable. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and hard, as were the pillows. It was difficult to get a good night's sleep due to both the poor bedding and the excessive street noise at night, which couldn't be blocked out. Additionally, the apartment has a large, narrow internal staircase that felt quite unsafe and inconvenient—definitely not ideal if you have luggage or mobility issues. There are plenty of better, more transparent options in Florence. I’d recommend staying elsewhere."

"The location is excellent, very close to the train station, and it's quite clean. The front desk staff were also nice. The only downside is that the room was too small. To get a slightly larger room, we had to pay an extra 30 euros per night. Even after paying, the room was still not very big overall. Another drawback is that the shower head only offered a top-down spray; the handheld one couldn't be fixed to the rail, which was very inconvenient."
