"Overall, my stay at the Kyoto Arala Hotel was pretty good. The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Kyoto Station, making it super easy to get to various attractions and transfer to other transportation. There are also plenty of convenience stores and drugstores nearby, which is very handy. The room layout was well-designed, and the bedding was comfortable, so I slept really well during my stay. The hotel's on-site hot spring was a major highlight; soaking in it after a day of sightseeing completely washed away my fatigue. The staff were friendly and helpful, and both check-in and check-out were quick. All the facilities were excellent. I particularly appreciated the front desk service that allowed me to courier my luggage from Kyoto to Tokyo, saving me from having to lug my suitcase on the Shinkansen, which was incredibly convenient. The only downside was the extremely slow and unstable Wi-Fi in the room. Streaming videos, browsing the web, and even replying to WeChat messages often resulted in buffering or no connection at all. For all four days, I had to use my own mobile data in the room, and I really hope they can improve this aspect. Putting the Wi-Fi issue aside, this hotel offers great overall value for money."

"This hotel is a 5-minute walk from Shijo Kawaramachi Station. Kyoto isn't very big, and in this weather, you can walk to Kiyomizu-dera, the Gion area, stroll along the river, and even reach the **** area all on foot. On the first day, I took public transport everywhere, only to realize later how close everything actually was. The room is small but clean. It's right on a main road, so there's some motorcycle noise, but it didn't bother my sleep much. For consecutive stays, you can put a sticker on your door if you don't want housekeeping; just leave your trash and old towels outside, and fresh ones will be hung on your door. Breakfast includes four types of bread, onsen tamago (hot spring egg), coffee, yogurt, milk, and mashed potatoes for 40 yuan, which I found very satisfying. Consumables are available for self-service by the elevator. On check-in and check-out days, you can use your Suica card to lock your luggage, which is right in front of the front desk. There are many restaurants in the alley between the hotel and the Kamo River worth trying."

"Stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kawaramachi Jokyoji from 20-24 Dec. This was my 2nd stay there in 2 consecutive months, despite there being hundreds of hotels in Kyoto.  Location:  the hotel is located in the city center with Nishiki Market and Teramachi indoor shopping street located very closeby. Kawaramachi is also a big commercial street lined with plethora of shops and malls.  Train stations within walking distance.  Hotel Facilities and Amenities:  this is a very beautiful hotel next to a temple (and small cemetery). The rooms are exemplary clean and quite spacious for Japan’s standard. Many facilities such as a public onsen, on-site restaurant, vending machine, ice machine, etc. No gym, which is not a big deal at all if you are in Kyoto for a short tourist visit.  You will be doing a lot of walking anyway if you choose to.   I only visited the on-site restaurant for dinner once. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Service staff was accommodating (I had to use a wheelchair at the time); however, service was lackluster otherwise.   Hotel staff service:  cannot praise the service by the hotel staff enough. This time around, I had injured my foot and couldn’t walk for 2 days. I was touched by the staff’s incredible kindness - they went out of their way to really help me out. Overall:  if you want city center location with easy access to modern shops and an array of restaurants within walking distance, big and super clean room, and great hospitality,  I’d highly recommend this hotel."

"This is my favourite hotel on our travels around Japan. The room size was a little small but it was fine for a few nights as a base to explore Kyoto. It's walking distance from some great sites like Nijo Castle, the Samurai Ninja museum and the bustling market. The transport links are great and easy to get to most places of interest. Staff were very helpful and even rushed to fetch towels when we came in from the rain. There is no restaurant on site so, breakfast is only a bento box but it was so tasty! And there's a fantastic little cafe/restaurant just down the street (to the right as you leave the hotel) which was lovely for dinner. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to have a larger selection of manga in English or other languages."

"This hotel is conveniently located near Kyoto Station, making it super easy to get to from Kansai Airport – it's right outside the station! The soundproofing is excellent; once you close the window, you can barely hear any noise. There are plenty of convenience stores, supermarkets, and restaurants inside the station, so dining is a breeze. The room itself is quite spacious for Japanese standards. Check-in and check-out are self-service, which is convenient. It's perfect if you're planning to take the JR or Kintetsu lines to explore nearby cities. However, if you're mainly looking to explore Kyoto city, it might not be as convenient as you'll have a bit of a walk to catch a bus."

"It felt like a rented apartment room. It was a lifesaver to have a separate bathroom and toilet. It was clean. The folding table and chair were a nice touch. There was also enough space to open a suitcase. They also accommodated luggage storage before and after check-in."

"Location of the Hotel is great . The hotel is right below the Keihan Railway. Room not so big but enough for two large luggage. My negative experience was the male front staff. We are not very clear about the new property tax.and need him to explained more but he just keep quite like we are a nasty customer. But lucky he colleague come over to solved the issue."

"The breakfast was very delicious and had a wide variety of choices. Everything tasted great and I never got bored of it even after a few days. The onsen was also very comfortable and relaxing — it was the perfect way to unwind after a long day. I also really liked the shampoo and bath amenities provided by the hotel; they smelled amazing and made my hair feel very smooth. Another nice touch was that the hotel provided free laundry washing, although the dryer required a small fee. They also offered free ramen at night, which was a really nice service, but I was too full to try it at the time. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back again!"

"The overall cleanliness and room condition of the hotel were good and generally satisfactory. However, I would like to point out a serious issue with the bathroom floor. It was fine when using only water, but once shower gel or shampoo was used, the foam made the floor extremely slippery, creating a clear safety hazard. I unfortunately slipped and fell during my stay, which was quite painful and left visible bruises and swelling on my arms and legs. This was very disappointing. I hope the hotel can take this issue seriously and improve safety measures, such as adding anti-slip solutions, to prevent similar incidents in the future."

"The location is super convenient, close to both JR and subway Nijo stations. If you're heading to Amanohashidate, you can easily take the JR from Nijo round trip, and it's a direct 10-minute ride to Kyoto Station. For shopping in the Kawaramachi area, the subway is right there, and it's generally easy to get to various attractions. The hotel facilities are also quite sufficient, with a large public bath and a gym located on the 1st floor. There are two large supermarkets nearby, along with various convenience stores and chain restaurants. If you want to avoid large crowds of tourists, this is an excellent choice!"
