Kyoto Umekoji Kadensho

We absolutely loved this place. The free perks offered by the hotel makes one feel so welcomed. My kids enjoyed the delicious ice cream and free ramen. Extra comfy pillows and yukata for men/women and kids were offered. The onsen bath was good too! We didnt need to wait long to use the private baths as there were 5 in total. Rooms are so huge and comfortable! Highly recommended.

If you’re feeling tired after exploring Kyoto, this hotel is the perfect choice for your last day of the trip. A true therapy and relaxation spot after long walks and busy sightseeing days. The facilities are excellent, especially the private onsen available 24 hours, which made the stay even more special and convenient. They also provide complimentary ice cream and late-night ramen — such a nice touch for guests to enjoy and relax. Honestly, this became one of my favorite places in Kyoto. The atmosphere, comfort, and overall experience were amazing. I would definitely rebook this hotel again for my next Kyoto trip for sure.

Pricy but worth it. Convenient to reach, it just located beside a train station. You can explore 5 private bath and a big public bath, Japanese costume and almost whole hotel with Tatami. They also provide snack time in specific timing, and free flow welcome drink. Recommended to get their buffet style breakfast, it look nice and taste nice. Good place to relax and chill.

We had a pleasant stay at Kyoto Umekoji Kadensho, mainly thanks to its excellent location—right next to the train station and just one stop from Kyoto Station, making it very convenient for getting around. The room was spacious and well-designed, especially with the separated shower and toilet areas, which made it more comfortable for multiple occupants. A highlight of the stay was the private baths. Although one of the five baths was out of order, the system worked efficiently—even at full occupancy, we never had to wait long for one to become available. The little touches after a bath were a nice surprise—we really enjoyed the complimentary ice cream and Vitagen. That said, there are a few areas that could be improved. The hotel relies heavily on disposable wares, which felt excessive. Drinks in the lounge were served in disposable cups, and even the complimentary ramen supper came in disposable containers. On top of that, seating for the supper was quite limited, so many guests ended up taking their food back to their rooms. Overall, a comfortable and convenient stay with great amenities, but the sustainability aspect could definitely be improved.

Second time come back for this lovely hotel stays. Satisfy with the onsen experience and japanese style breakfast.

One of the best ryokan i stayed so far. Natural spring bath… strong Japanese vibe, cozy and comfortable room. Will definitely come back with family next round.

Very beautiful and convenient onsen hotel in Kyoto. Located right next to JR station. Facilities and service is 100% good with no doubt! Will be back definitely 💯

Location is just next to the JR train where it can direct go to Arashiyama. Beautiful tatami room hotel with 5 private onsen rooms for usage next to their public bath, no need to book and just walk in, wait at waiting area outside the onsen room if occupied. The breakfast is great and very organised. Love the design and the peaceful atmosphere created by the owner of this hotel. Their free ramen is delicious especially after the onsen bath, suggest to go around 10pm where it is less crowded. Will be back again

This place is absolutely spectacular. You walk without shoes in the whole hotel because it has traditional Japanese tatami flooring. The rooms are large and have amazing minimalistic style. Everything is done with great aesthetics. The onsen bath is large and wonderful. It was the nicest hotel we stayed at in Japan. 🙏
