Sanpeiso was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The ryokan beautifully preserves the atmosphere of traditional Japan while offering excellent comfort and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and took great care of every detail throughout our stay. The room was spacious, spotless, and overlooked a peaceful garden, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. The onsen was exceptional — the hot spring water felt wonderful after a day of sightseeing, and the entire bathing area was quiet and beautifully maintained. Both dinner and breakfast were served in traditional Japanese style and were outstanding. Every dish was carefully prepared, beautifully presented, and showcased seasonal ingredients. It felt like a true cultural experience rather than simply a meal. What impressed us most was the authentic character of the ryokan. Unlike many modernized properties, Sanpeiso retains the charm and elegance of a classic Japanese inn. The combination of attentive service, excellent cuisine, serene surroundings, and high-quality hot springs made our stay unforgettable. A wonderful hotel that makes you want to return again and again. We were absolutely delighted with our trip! The main advantages are the incredible seclusion, the amazing surrounding nature, and the captivating beautiful view that you can admire endlessly, plus excellent transfer service. The room is simply stunning: stylish, cozy, and impeccably clean. The local onsen is a special treat; bathing in it is wonderfully relaxing and brings a sense of complete tranquility. The culinary experience deserves the highest praise. The wonderful dinner in traditional Japanese style was a true gastronomic discovery, and breakfast was very tasty and filling. Huge thanks to all the staff for their very polite, attentive, and warm hospitality. We loved everything and didn't want to leave. We will definitely come back here again! Thank you!

Love the drink bar a lot! From 5pm to 9pm, with a lot of wine and liquor for the elderly and ice cream and soft drink for the kids! Also the spa at basement 1 also a plus point for the hotel.

The hotel's location is unbeatable, with a shuttle bus service to and from Atami Station, which you can see right after exiting the Shinkansen, making it very convenient. The hotel is said to have opened in 1973, perched on a cliff. Japan already had 'pit hotels' back in the 70s! The front desk is on the 17th floor, and the shuttle drops you off there. To get to your room, you have to go down. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor. This hotel offers incredible photo opportunities, with stunning views from every window.

The hotel's location is quite convenient, with a bus available to take you directly there. You can book a private room for a hot spring bath for an additional fee. Breakfast is a buffet with a good variety of Japanese and Western options. The room I booked this time was right in the center of the hotel and offered a beautiful beach view. It would be amazing if there were fireworks to watch from here.

As a nuclear family, our main requirement when searching for a hotel was a triple room. Most Western-style accommodations that offered triple occupancy within our budget tended to provide a twin room with an extra rollaway bed. However, what sealed the deal for us with Villagiou was that they actually had rooms (Superior Triple) with three proper single beds of the same style. We booked it right away. Staying in Room 403, we found it to be a comfortably spacious room with absolutely no cramped feeling. The three beds were lined up side-by-side, which was great as our family could relax on our own beds while still chatting. The room also had a mini-fridge, which was super convenient for chilling refrigerated souvenirs like 'Atami Pudding' and 'Wasabi-zuke' that we bought early on. By the way, it easily fit 9 'Atami Puddings'! Although we didn't use it because of the rainy weather during our stay, the room also had a balcony. It was equipped with a small table, two chairs with backrests, and two pairs of slippers specifically for the balcony.

The hotel was very clean, and the food was absolutely delicious. The hot springs were also wonderful, probably because it was a weekday and not crowded. I highly recommend getting the dinner plan. For breakfast, we were able to have it in our room, which allowed for a very relaxed start to the day. As other reviewers mentioned, the坂道 (steep hill) up to the hotel was quite something. We went by car, and at one point, we encountered another car coming down in a curving tunnel. Since uphill traffic has priority, the other car had to back up the hill to let us pass. After arriving, we enjoyed walking to the shopping street in front of the station, but on the way back to the hotel, we took a taxi from the station. Even the taxi driver radioed ahead to another taxi waiting at the top of the hill to hold their position before starting the ascent. It would be great if there were traffic lights at the top and bottom. There aren't many cars coming and going, so we just hoped there wouldn't be any oncoming traffic on our way back.

Take the free shuttle bus directly from Yugawara Station. The room is a single without a bathtub or shower, but there are plenty of outlets and USB ports. However, there are only two hangers. The food was delicious. The hot springs in the new building are mostly for day trips, and it can be uncomfortable when there are noisy groups of guests. The main building is a little old, but it is only for overnight guests, so it is more relaxing. The only hot spring with free-flowing water is the rock bath in the new building. I went there to treat a bruised leg, and I think it was effective.

It was a quaint, cozy hotel situated close to JR Atami Station. The hotel has very good food for both dinner and breakfast! The staff are friendly and even though they can't speak good English, they tried their best to communicate to the best of their knowledge and I really appreciate it! I especially enjoyed my time at the onsen on the rooftop, it has good facilities. The only thing is the cleanliness of the room, since there is still water in the kettle from the previous guests, I didn't want to drink any water from the kettle because of it. They should replace it with a new kettle or clean it. Otherwise, the room is also very cozy, they give yukatas for guests to wear them around the hotel and they also offer free transport to JR Atami station. Otherwise, I would have struggled to get around since there is lack of public transportation at Atami! I still have a very good time and enjoyed my time because of the friendly staff at the hotel, they are very helpful! 10/10 will come back again with my friends or family in the future.

First off, the room temperature was perfect. It was a bit chilly in Atami that day, but the hotel room was just right. Secondly, the owner was incredibly, incredibly kind! I'd left my suitcase in a locker at the station but forgot the code. With the owner's help, I managed to retrieve it through the staff. The owner helped me so much, and they were really nice. The room also offered a spectacular sea view. I've attached two photos of the sea view at the end. I'm truly grateful for such assistance while abroad.
