Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia's capital and a compact but busy city with modern skyscrapers, historic neighbourhoods, shopping districts, food streets and green spaces.

Understanding the Kuala Lumpur Map

Kuala Lumpur Map

Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia and forms part of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. It is surrounded by Selangor and is part of the wider Klang Valley urban area.

Unlike Johor, Kuala Lumpur is not divided into tourist friendly districts in the same way.

DBKL currently operates through 11 parliamentary areas including Bukit Bintang, Batu, Cheras, Kepong, Lembah Pantai, Seputeh, Setiawangsa, Segambut, Titiwangsa, Bandar Tun Razak and Wangsa Maju.

For travellers, however, it is more useful to understand Kuala Lumpur by its main neighbourhoods and tourism areas.

Location is super convenient! Nearby to KLCC and all public transportation for going around KL. Really easy to find all sorts of food at any time. Room was comfy and clean; housekeeping staff was very accommodating and attentive. I liked the view and that they provided water filter, placed outside of the room. Just a heads-up that it can get noisy at late night due to traffic outside as it is near to the major intersection of KLCC. Breakfast buffet has a wide variety but I felt the quality was just alright. Reception was very friendly during check-in, and check-out was easy with no hassle, although reception staff during that time was a bit abrupt and rough, but maybe I just came by at the wrong timing. It did caught me off guard but no major issues. Definitely will stay here again.

Our stay at The Face Suites Kuala Lumpur was truly one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the friendly staff. The suite was spacious, clean, and perfect for our family, with breathtaking views of the city that we enjoyed every day. My son especially loved the infinity pool, and it was such a joy creating special family memories together. After a full day of exploring Kuala Lumpur, coming back to a comfortable and peaceful room made all the difference. Thank you, The Face Suites, for making our stay so enjoyable. We left with wonderful memories and will definitely choose to stay here again when we return to Kuala Lumpur.

Let's start with the positives: 1. Free drinks were provided: one Coke, one Sprite, and one 100PLUS, all in the fridge. 2. There's a washing machine (though I didn't use it), which is convenient for washing clothes after swimming. 3. The quality of the bed linens was good. 4. The sky bar had excellent service, drink quality, and à la carte dishes. 5. The hotel is very close to KLCC; it's a 5-minute walk to the KLCC park, making it very convenient to walk to KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers). Now for the complaints (considering 140 SGD per day for 3 people): 1. Room description misleading: (as shown in the picture) We booked a suite with a double bed and a single bed. The so-called single bed room was actually a maid's room – no window, just a door, and so small that you'd step out of bed and immediately be at the door. The upside is that you get really good sleep because it's perfectly dark. The downside is that the air conditioner is directly above the bed, so it's either blowing on your head or your feet. 2. Location: The hotel is indeed close to the subway, about a 3-minute walk. However, there's a huge flight of stairs to get there, otherwise, you have to walk a long way around the road. It's not very convenient. There are no convenience stores near the hotel (you either climb the stairs or take the long way around). If you have mobility issues, you'll have to take a taxi. 3. KLCC Twin Towers View: Because it's so close, there's a building in front that blocks the view. So, rooms with a full view of KLCC are quite limited (about 3/4 of the rooms don't have a view). You need to confirm with the hotel in advance. 4. Facilities: The showerhead holder was loose. This was very obvious, but no one seemed to fix it. The shower gel had separated into layers and was watery; you had to pump it several times to get proper soap. 5. Bedding: The pillows weren't very comfortable, and the pillowcases had dirty stains (a cleaning issue). We ended up using our own bedding. Wyndham is usually known for good bedding, so this was a bit disappointing.

Choosing this hotel was such a smart decision! The environment is quiet and peaceful, not noisy at all. The room facilities are very well-maintained, and all the amenities are fully stocked. The service is incredibly attentive and thoughtful; any request is handled promptly. It's perfect for both short stays and longer visits. It's definitely on my re-book list!

My stay at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur was fairly average overall, and unfortunately, it did not quite live up to my expectations for a leisure or vacation stay. Check-in was quick and straightforward, which was a plus. The room itself was cozy, although I found that the toilet took up a rather significant portion of the room. The air-conditioning, however, was nice and cold, which I personally appreciated after being out in KL’s heat. Unfortunately, there were several issues during the stay that affected the overall experience. I had specifically requested a high-floor room, but was assigned Level 1 — which is essentially Level 2 when viewed from the international floor numbering perspective. This was disappointing, particularly as the request had been made in advance. I had also informed the hotel via email well before our arrival that we were staying to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Unfortunately, there was no special gesture or even acknowledgement of the occasion throughout our stay. I wasn’t expecting anything extravagant, but even a simple acknowledgement or small gesture would have made the stay feel more thoughtful. There was also an issue with one of the bedside table lights. The touch sensor appeared to be faulty and the light would not switch off when pressed. As a result, I had to sleep facing away from the light, which was quite annoying and something that should have been addressed before the room was assigned to a guest. Another issue was the renovation or maintenance work taking place early in the morning. At around 8:30am, there was considerable noise coming from the room/floor above. I eventually had to call the front desk to ask what was causing the noise. While I understand that maintenance and renovation works may sometimes be necessary, starting noisy works that early in the morning was not ideal, particularly for guests who are on holiday and would like to rest. The biggest advantage of the hotel is definitely its location. It is within walking distance of TRX and Pavilion KL, making it very convenient for shopping, business, or attending events in the area. Overall, I would not highly recommend PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur if you are specifically looking for a memorable vacation or staycation experience. There were simply too many small issues that added up during the stay. In my opinion, the hotel is more suitable for business trips, attending events, or travellers who prioritise location and convenience over the overall hotel experience. For a leisure trip, I would personally look at other options in KL.

Convenient location to explore Kuala Lumpur as it's minutes away from Bukit Bintang MRT and Monorail stations. There're nearby malls to shop around the hotel. Easy to find choices of food and also walking distance to traditional massage and reflexology. Staff from bellboy to housekeepers were helpful and friendly, always showing up with a big smile. Room was neat and clean, spacious too. On our second day stay, we informed the front desk that the hot water in the bathroom was not working, it was settled within the day. However, on our third day stay, we had informed at least three times (three different timing too) to the front desk that the room telephone as well as the bath mat not available, but till late night no response and we gave up since we will be checking out the next morning. The hotel's location is excellent, right opposite Pavilion, making it very convenient for getting around and taking taxis. The hotel's buffet offers good quality and a wide variety of dishes, with most of the bread being freshly baked. Two bottles of water are provided in the room, and you can request two more for free. Snacks and mini-bar drinks, however, come with an additional charge. I particularly loved that the front desk offers free luggage storage, and the room has an iron and a coffee machine! The hairdryer model is a bit old, like those used 10-20 years ago in China, but everything else was great.

The facilities are complete and the hygiene is good. The environment is quiet, and it's right next to Shaw Parade. You can find delicious bak kut teh there. The Durian SS2 stall there is also more affordable and tastier than the ones in the city center, and they even gave us lots of mangosteens and rambutans, which were perfect to cleanse the palate. The Twin Towers are a 30-minute walk away, and along the way, there are durian stations that are more affordable and offer more varieties than the durian shops near the Twin Towers. Both durian shops, one large and one small, had Black Thorn and Red Prawn durians with 6 pods each. We were so full from the Black Thorn, and the Red Prawn, though smaller, was also very plump and just right for two people. The poolside bar had a great ambiance too.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) We stayed here for 5 nights with our children. The room itself was comfortable, and the beds, furniture, and washing machine were all in very good condition. The washing machine worked perfectly, which was especially helpful for a family with kids. However, there were some issues that affected our stay. We found many cockroaches, lizards, and other insects in the room, which was very disappointing. The room was also not cleaned regularly, and we often had to wait a long time before housekeeping came. The kitchen was functional, but the cooking area was quite small, and the cooking pots and pans provided were too small for preparing family meals. Overall, the room has good facilities and comfortable furniture, but the cleanliness, pest control, and housekeeping service need significant improvement. If these issues are addressed, it could be a much better place for families.

This was my 4th or 5th time staying at Momo's Hotel, but standards have seriously dropped. I booked a Queen bed but was given two single beds pushed together. To make matters worse, the signature body wash felt diluted with water compared to my previous stays. The most unacceptable part was a severe privacy breach: I requested a toothbrush in the morning, but I think id due to a staff communication error, housekeeping opened our door without knocking the door while my girlfriend and I were barely dressed, however the housekeeper got apologised immediately to me. When I reported this unauthorised entry during checkout, the receptionist not really take it seriously without any real apology. How to Plan Your Kuala Lumpur Itinerary Using the Map

KL Itinerary Map

Kuala Lumpur is easier way to explore when you group nearby attractions together rather than travelling across the city several times in one day.

Day 1: KLCC and Bukit Bintang

Start at the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park and the surrounding area.

In the afternoon, head towards Bukit Bintang for shopping and dining. End the day around Jalan Alor or one of the area's restaurants.

Day 2: China Town and Merdeka Square

Start around Central Market and Petaling Street.

Continue towards Merdeka Square and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building before exploring other nearby heritage attractions.

You can visit Kwai Chai Hong as part of your Chinatown route.

Day 3: Batu Caves and Titiwangsa

Take a morning trip to Batu Caves outside Kuala Lumpur.

Return to the city and spend the afternoon around Titiwangsa or another nearby attraction before having dinner in central KL.

Longer Trip: KL Sentral, Brickfields and Bangsar

Use a longer trip to explore areas beyond the main tourist centre.

Start around KL Sentral, explore Brickfields for Indian food and culture, then continue towards Bangsar for cafés and restaurants.

💡 Travel Tip: Do not assume every attraction labelled as a "Kuala Lumpur attraction" is inside the Federal Territory. Batu Caves, for example, is in Selangor. Always check the location before planning your route.

Final Thoughts

KL Hop-On Hop-Off

Kuala Lumpur is much easier to explore when you understand how the main areas connect.

KLCC is best for iconic landmarks and first time visits while Bukit Bintang is ideal for shopping, food, and nightlife.

Chinatown and Merdeka Square are better for heritage and culture while KL Sentral and Brickfields are useful for transport and local food.

For a more relaxed city experience, consider Bangsar, Titiwangsa or Mont Kiara.

The city's MRT, LRT, Monorail, KTM, buses and airport rail services make many parts of Kuala Lumpur accessible without a car.

With the right Kuala Lumpur map, you can group nearby attractions together, choose a hotel that suits your itinerary and spend less time stuck in traffic.
