Karuizawa Skiing|Star Watching Stargazing Experience

Skiing in Karuizawa|Star Watching Stargazing Experience

Did you know Karuizawa isn’t just about skiing—its stargazing is second to none? Perched on a plateau about 1,000 meters above sea level, the air is crisp and dry, and being far from city light pollution creates perfect conditions for stargazing.

Nowadays, many nature schools and outdoor experience teams offer specialized stargazing programs: not only do professional guides help you learn the constellations, they’ll also arrange nighttime walks, chats around a campfire, and cozy activities like sipping hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows.

Gazing up at a sky full of stars over a snow-white landscape is an immersive travel experience you just can’t get in the city! These winter-only experiences usually require booking in advance, and while prices start at a few thousand yen, I truly recommend adding one to your ski trip.

💡 Pro Tip: Activate your Japan eSIM before leaving the airport so you can access maps, hotel bookings, and transport apps right away.

The location is great, and the activities are well-organized. The shuttle service to various attractions is super convenient. However, the room layout is quite odd; my husband hit his head on the beam at least 5 times...

You can take the resort bus to Hoshinoya; the food and prices at the village canteen are quite good. From the JR station to the hotel, you can only take a taxi.

Overall, the luxury is not enough and the accommodation is a bit small, but you can enjoy all the facilities of Xinye. Baidu is very convenient. You can get discounts when going to hot springs, which seems to be half price. It can be said that it is also an option, but if there are other hotel special offers, you can consider the special offer

The location is very convenient, very close to both the JR station and the outlet mall. Clean and tidy. The shuttle bus to Karuizawa Station right at the doorstep is very convenient; you can ask the front desk for the schedule. The outlet is just a 5-minute walk away. Major nearby attractions include Stone Church, Kumoba Pond, and Old Karuizawa. This is my third visit to Karuizawa. The previous two times were during the winter ski season. Spring has a pleasant temperature; although there's a temperature difference between morning and night, strolling around during the day is very comfortable. I highly recommend visiting in spring, April-May.

Near the high-speed train station. You need to do your research beforehand. There is no luggage storage in the outlet. You can take the free hotel shuttle from the outlet. What impressed me most was that my son forgot his glasses at the front desk. As soon as the staff found out, they quickly searched for them and found them. Thank you very much. We will definitely return if we have the opportunity.
