Kani1222Let's start with the positives. The hotel is perched on a hillside overlooking the sea, offering a fantastic location. Our deluxe sea-view room also had an excellent view directly of the ocean, as shown in the photo taken with my Fuji – stunning!
Now, for the objective downsides. On the day we arrived, our flight from Bali to Komodo landed at 1 PM. Hotel check-in time is 3 PM, and we had booked an Ayana sunset cruise for 4 PM. So, a week before our trip, I emailed the hotel via Trip.com requesting an early check-in by 1 hour, perhaps at 2 PM, so we could shower and relax. However, upon check-in, the hotel informed us there were no rooms available for early check-in and that they hadn't received any notification, stating that Trip.com's email address was invalid... It was a big misunderstanding. The hotel's initial attitude wasn't great; they felt they weren't obligated to arrange an early check-in, suggesting that checking in at 3 PM would still leave enough time for a 4 PM cruise. 😂 In the end, after I firmly insisted, they finally arranged a check-in for 2:30 PM! Thankfully, the sunset cruise was a lot of fun, and the subsequent service was all good. For anyone needing an early check-in, I recommend calling the hotel directly, as emails seem to go astray.

This resort is nestled in the mountains, a bit far from the city center, but you can easily get a Grab motorbike. If you're staying here, I'd recommend eating at the resort (the food is actually quite good).
I really want to highlight the environment! It's incredibly comfortable and perfect for a relaxing, 'lie-flat' vacation! ☺️ And the staff's service attitude is super good, friendly, and enthusiastic ❤️ The drinks in the mini-fridge are all complimentary, too.
I chose a suite with a balcony, which was perfect for just sitting, zoning out, enjoying the breeze, and taking in the scenery. The pool is also very clean! This has been my favorite place so far during my entire trip in Indonesia.
One thing to note might be that because it's in the mountains, you might encounter some bugs, and sometimes the tap water can be a bit yellow. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect!

I really regret not discovering this hotel sooner! The hotel has a very quiet, Southeast Asian vibe. The service is also much better than hotels near the main tourist street. They offer yoga classes, morning Zumba on the beach, and even a diving club.
I stayed at three different hotels in Labuan Bajo, and if I come back, this will be my top choice. The only thing to watch out for is mosquitoes in the room, but the front desk will provide mosquito coils if you ask.

Anonymous UserLet me jot down my thoughts on this unforgettable hotel, Katamaran. We initially wanted to book Ayana, but it was full, so we settled for Katamaran as a second choice – and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! First, the location. It's only a few minutes' drive from Ayana and shares the same beautiful ocean views. Plus, this hotel has fewer rooms but more spacious layouts, and all rooms face the sea directly. Now, onto the food. The breakfast selection isn't huge, but everything tastes delicious. I especially loved the cliffside restaurant; enjoying amazing food while watching the sunset over the sea was pure bliss. The hotel also offers many activities like kayaking, yoga, snorkeling, and sunset trekking (though they all come with a fee). The best part is that if you want to go island hopping, you can book the hotel's speedboat directly, departing from their private pier, which is incredibly convenient [strong]. I've collected my fill of sea breezes and sunsets. Can't wait to visit again! [celebrate]

Guest UserExtremely satisfied with this resort! The hotel itself isn't huge, but the environment is fantastic. You can shore dive directly from the jetty, and there are tons of fish and large coral reefs! Snorkeling gear is provided. The service is also excellent; the laundry service is super fast and reasonably priced. The bathroom is open-air, but it's not an issue at all. The restaurant prices are a bit high, but the drinks are good, and they can even be delivered to your beach chair. Enjoying the sea breeze at night is incredibly comfortable!

Our stay in the Mountain View cabin with private pool was amazing. Awesome view from the room across to the balcony and pool. It was very relaxing to just keep cool in the pool and/or having breakfast on the balcony and enjoy the view. The room, shower etc were spacious and clean. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. I’ll be coming back to stay in this room again.

Anonymous UserEverything was good! The room was clean, there was a warm nice shower, the view was beautiful, especially the sunset time.
The only issue we had was the electric plug, which was Indonesian standard and our US plug didn’t fit. But we were able to borrow an adapter from the hotel lobby.

The sheets had stains, but the service was excellent and the staff were very helpful. It's right next to a popular ice cream shop and offers great value for money. Plus, it's directly opposite the boat tours, so you can just wait at the hotel to board.

Guest UserOverall, this is a unique and memorable accommodation with a beautiful view, a cozy room, and genuinely friendly staff. One of the standout features is the private outdoor bathroom, which makes for a special experience—showering under the open sky and even catching a glimpse of the stars. The laundry service was also convenient and added to the overall comfort of the stay.
There are a few practical considerations to keep in mind. The final stretch of road leading to the guesthouse is in poor condition; while it wasn’t an issue for me, it could be challenging for those who are not confident riding a scooter. Additionally, the nearby mosque broadcasts prayers late at night and early in the morning (around 4:45 am), which can be quite loud and may disrupt sleep if you’re sensitive to noise.
I would recommend this place for travelers who appreciate unique stays and don’t mind the outdoor bathroom setup, the rough access road, or the early morning and nighttime noise.
