If you’re looking for a private piece of paradise - this is your place! We had the most wonderful stay at Menjaga Bay. Everything was perfect, including gourmet food (with real croissants and proper coffee for breakfast), beautiful rooms and staff that were always going out of their way to help. The location is quiet and secluded, but close to some amazing snorkelling spots and Komodo tours. You can go paddle boarding or kayaking right from your room and see turtles and clown fish! Don’t hesitate to book here before it sells out!

Very beautiful hotel, nice rooms, pool, restaurant area and awful service. Nobody met us in the airport (as it was agreed), afterwards it was big problem to bring us to the hotel because of the weather (it was raining, so it was impossible to go with a car, but the boat was not ready). We have been waiting for the boat about 2 hours. The most unpleasant thing was that lady in charge was telling us that it was our problem that we took a taxi when we did not meet hotel’s driver and that’s why we have to pay for the transfer. And I have paid a full price for this transfer. The food at the hotel was not tasty, not so many positions and some of them were missing. Hotel’s organized tour was nice, but the captain of the boat was sick, with fever, actually he was sleeping most of the time, so as we were the only passengers on the boat we also became ill in few days- I think that somebody has to be responsible for the tourist’s health and that was the last drop for our bad experience

wow... this place is like a hidden paradise. The first time I went there, I immediately liked the beautiful nature, the fresh air and all the friendly employees... I was so impressed... the drinks and food were also very good... I will come back again to enjoy the sunset with a cup of hot coffee. what a memorable holiday.

Avoid like the plague! As expressed in other reviews - the communication is worse than other places in Indonesia, so I asked for the manager’s number to complain about that (I asked simply about transportation but didn’t get a response for weeks, you decide if this is something a guest can complain about). The manager was told that my needs were handled incompetently (with the late reply which was blamed on technical issues I was left with having to arrange suddenly alternative transportation as the hotel’s is expensive). The manager really has an “if you don’t like it leave” attitude. He stated that I insulted the staff (which I obviously didn’t, I just said to them the communication is bad and I need to talk to the manager), was rude to their guests (how if I was not yet on the property) or even send slanderous complaint to booking about me making threats (the threat, which is a legal term describing a situation where somebody states they intend to inflict harm was used by the manager to describe me saying I will review the place). So he tried canceling my stay less than 24h before check-in time. It is against booking (a dutch company) policy so I honestly didn’t think much about and I arrived with the booking still confirmed in my app. Also note - the booking website also shows the hotel was not fully booked at the time of my arrival. The manager came in guns blazing staying he canceled my stay and sold the room, which booking confirms was not true (and the stay was still confirmed in my app, regardless - you can’t really cancel a booking like that; to a contract between booking and an eu consumer you apply dutch/eu law, like it or not - see Rome I directive for details). It was already getting late and he said that since I was rude he kicks me out on the street. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so imagine what kind of person puts another’s life potentially in danger after an argument? I mean I would understand standing up for stuff to some degree but honestly I did not say to them directly anything offensive, just asked for the manager. And the other reviews clearly show there are issues on this point. The manger was simply this freaked out about the review (he did attempt to threaten me actually with slander laws of Indonesia which he claims he consulted with TripAdvisor representative - please guys tell me how you wish people to be intimated not to leave an honest review). Only after I said I will not let them put me in danger and I want transportation arranged, the manger came to some senses and offered a boar ride to another hotel. But it gest worse. The manager asked staff to record me - and here I ask you - would like that? Also rather interestingly, when I said I do not consent to that (I do not consent to sharing my image, messages or anything private), the manager proceeded to really talk down Indonesia. “What are you going to do, it’s Indonesia, if you complain and go to the police they will laugh at you”. The resort in itself is a real slice of paradise. The Villas on the water are fantastic. They offer great views and the sunsets are amazing. The food and drinks are also great (although on the expensive side). 1) I personally did not realize when I booked that it was 45 minutes from Labuan bajo, 30 mins of which you have to do in a 4x4 because of the bumpy rocky road. To get out of the resort cost 700k so you’re kind of stuck there… it’s something to keep on mind if you want to do any tours. Also, the LB “tours“ don’t come to this hotel to pick you up. It’s not “included” in the Labuan bajo area. 2)The area of improvement is definitely with the front desk communication and marketing. They don’t have any excursion to propose except a few verbally (!), it’s complicated and the conditions and description keeps on changing every day. It’s really frustrating. One day I was told they could offer snorkelling the other day they couldn’t, then they suddenly remembered but they didn’t have any pictures of the boat, or any description of the excursion in itself! I have never seen that at any hotel in the world in 30 years. I finally did the tour (for 900k) which is more than twice the price in Gilli-t and Lombok but when I boarded, I saw that there was no guide (!) and that the boat was very small (2 passengers) and old and the passenger seat was broken. It does not really “match” the quality of the resort and certainly not the price. The tour is not safe. At the second spot, there was too much current but the boat had already left to the other side of the island. After a while it came back and I had to climb on a rock to get back on the boat. Nobody was watching me in the water. The driver then dropped me in the middle of the ocean and told me to swim to the bridge but there was absolutely nothing to see for my 25 mins swim. It was too deep and there was no corals at all. There was boats passing by. The tour lasted 1:30 instead of 2 hours. My driver was really nice but when I was in the water looking up, he was on his phone and I was alone. You kinda of need to be autonomous and not stressed at all. I would not recommend booking any excursions through the front desk. 3) the full day tour (6 spots) was a nightmare to book. The prices kept on changing and they didn’t have the details of the boat. I was finally booked on a speed boat excursion with “Manta speed” (Don’t use them !!). I was charged 1.5M but all the other guests on the boat paid between 850 and 1M for the same excursion…. And I had to pay a 700k fee to get to the port! All the other boats that we saw at the six spots were a lot more luxurious. Our boat was old and overcrowded (5 of us could not sit inside, we had to stay outside under the burning sun) and had no toilet paper in the bathroom ! The guide (ken) was also rushing us at the first spot giving us 1 hour instead of 1:20 to padar island which was unecessary stressful since there was a lot of people. We could hav

This place is 5 stars all around!! Where do I start. First of all, the crew was so friendly and took care of our every need. The chef's food was 5 star, the rooms and design...(mixing modern with local bamboo style yet still keeping to the nature)...was so unique. So much attention to detail and even keeping the style of the local culture. When we woke up in the morning...literally all you we could hear was the sounds of nature all around us. So incredibly peaceful and much needed! We also took a fantastic scuba diving day trip (3 dives) and it was epic...diving with Manta rays and so much beautiful coral. Bryce the ma ager, was super helpful with everything we needed and made sure we were taken care of. I don't usually write reviews...but this one is well deserved. I highly recommend! Thank you Menjaga!

An amazing resort set within a unique part of the world. The hotel is set within a quiet bay on the edge of the stunning Komodo National park. We were able to take advantage and head out and explore the surrounding island, bays and reefs that are pristine! The team are very informative and organised some great day excursions for us! The rooms are extremely quiet and beautifully designed and it was amazing to be able to watch the sun set over the water from our private cabin. All of the staff were attentive and able to help us with anything we needed, however small, even picking us up some suncream from Labo Banjo when we ran out! On our last night we were treated to a private dinner with the chef discussing the custom menu with us the day before so that he could source some really fresh fish from the market. It was another brilliant meal and the perfect way to end a very special few days. Would HIGHLY recommend!

We stayed here for four nights as part of our honeymoon. All I can say is what an incredible and special place - we are only sad we didn’t have longer! From the moment we arrived, the staff ensured that every detail was meticulously looked after. The hotel itself is beautiful and the thoughtful design is unlike any other hotel we have stayed in Flores and Indonesia. We stayed in both the sea view room and as a surprise my husband also booked the hill side room - both were truly exceptional. They had not only incredible views but an authentic design with all the modern essentials for comfort. The surrounding views are truly breathtaking and the sunset was just incredible. Location is also unbeatable in terms of proximity to all of the islands in Komodo. In hindsight I wish we had stayed at Menjaga for longer and gone on day trips to the surrounding islands from there rather than booking a sleeping boat for two nights! The staff led by Bryce really went above and beyond to make our stay incredibly comfortable and memorable. Exceptionally friendly, polite and thoughtful. Thank you for an amazing stay.

1) The hotel's inaccessible location required reliance on their limited transport options, resulting in a series of delays, including a breakdown on the way to the airport, causing us to miss our flight. Despite assurances of a refund, the hotel has not followed through after a week. 2) The sea suite's outdoor shower lacks privacy, exposing guests to both road and ocean views. 3) The mountain suite's air conditioning blows directly on the sleeping area, causing extreme discomfort. 4) The mountain suite, still under construction, lacked a mosquito net and a functioning pool cleaning system, unbeknownst to us until our stay. 5) Worms infested the mountain suite, even on the pillow, requiring repeated cleaning requests, which eventually resolved the issue for the remainder of our stay. 6) Language barriers among staff, particularly restaurant servers, led to miscommunication and unfulfilled dietary requests. 7) The mountain suite poses a security risk as the window doors can be easily opened by pushing them, even when locked. 8) No WiFi or mobile internet (3G/4G) signal in the hotel, further impacting communication and connectivity during our stay. During our one-week stay, some staff, particularly the restaurant manager, were exceptionally friendly and made efforts to enhance our experience. The hotel offers excellent snorkeling opportunities nearby, with even better options when using the kayak to explore nearby islands. We experienced both the sea suite and the mountain suite during our visit.
