Wilde Aparthotels Edinburgh Grassmarket

The room was incredibly spacious, with a separate living room. I'd definitely want to stay here long-term if I visit Scotland again. The room was very quiet, and the living room sofa converts into a bed. All the appliances were high-end brands like Dyson and Smeg. The only downside was the lack of on-site parking. There's an NCP car park under the bridge a bit further down, costing around £25 per night. The hotel is very close to the castle, about a 5-minute walk, and about 10 minutes from the city center. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, which is very convenient.

My recent hotel stay was a bit of a mixed experience. While the hotel was clean and well-equipped, there were several issues that detracted from my overall satisfaction. Before arriving, I had communicated with the hotel via email and was told that they could be reached via WhatsApp. However, upon arrival, I was unable to get a response from the hotel on WhatsApp. Additionally, there was no reception area, and check-in had to be done over the phone, which required multiple long-distance phone calls and extra fees. The day before check-in, I received a last-minute email from the hotel requesting a deposit, but they did not provide any information on how to make the payment. Not all of the staff were willing to provide assistance, but the last person I spoke to was patient and helpful, which allowed me to check in smoothly. One major safety concern was that there was a step outside the bathroom, but the floor was not marked, making it easy to trip and fall. Another hazard was the transparent coffee table in the living room, which caused several stumbling incidents that could have led to injuries. Overall, while the hotel was clean and well-maintained, the issues with communication, extra fees, and safety hazards detracted from my experience.

Without doubt, this was one of our finest hotel stays in recent memory. From the moment we arrived, Novotel Edinburgh set the tone with a level of warmth and professionalism that genuinely stood out. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout and what really demonstrated this was a small but telling moment: we lost our key card during the stay, and it was replaced immediately, without any fuss or inconvenience whatsoever. It's the kind of effortless service that puts you completely at ease, and it's something you remember long after checkout. The breakfast deserves a special mention — it was simply top notch. The spread was so good that holding back was near impossible, and it's the kind of breakfast that makes you actually look forward to the morning. Freshly prepared, well-stocked, and served with care — it's one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. The location is outstanding. Sitting just a mile from Edinburgh Castle, you're right in the heart of one of the most iconic cities in the UK. Public transport couldn't be more convenient either  buses are accessible right behind the hotel, making it incredibly easy to get around the city without needing a car at all. The one area that needs addressing is parking. The hotel's own car park is frequently full, which meant we had to use the nearby NCP instead. To the hotel's credit, they did provide a discount for the NCP - a thoughtful gesture that softened the inconvenience. However, it's worth noting for electric vehicle drivers: the EV charging at the NCP is painfully slow, so factor that into your plans if you're arriving in an electric car. A heads-up from the hotel at check-in would go a long way. Parking frustrations aside, Novotel Edinburgh is a brilliant base for exploring the city - exceptional staff, an unmissable breakfast, and a location that's hard to beat. We'd return without hesitation.

The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, and the room was cozy and comfortable. The space was very spacious, enough to accommodate a family. It came with a washing machine and a kitchen, though you'll need to buy your own condiments for the kitchen. It's a bit of a distance from Edinburgh city center, but a taxi ride is under £10, making it very convenient. Public transport is also an option.

I just wanted to follow up regarding the situation we encountered when we arrived. We had booked three double rooms for two nights so that our group could stay together. Unfortunately, we were informed at check-in that one of the rooms had no electricity and couldn’t be used, and one of our friends had to be moved to a different hotel. We completely understand that unexpected issues can sometimes happen. However, since we specifically booked three rooms in the same hotel so our group could stay together, having one of us placed somewhere else has been quite inconvenient for us and has made it more difficult to coordinate our plans during the trip. In addition, the hotel that was arranged for our friend was unfortunately of a much lower standard than the one we originally booked. This was quite surprising for us, especially since we had chosen and paid for your hotel expecting a certain level of comfort and experience for everyone in our group. While we appreciate that your staff tried to find a solution at the time, the overall arrangement has left us feeling rather disappointed with the situation. We hope you can understand why this has been frustrating for our group, and we would really appreciate it if you could let us know whether there is anything that can be done to help make up for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your time and understanding

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stayed at Stewart by Heeton Concept for 2 days and I would absolutely love to come back in the future! The apartment was spotless — no dust, no bed bugs, fresh clean bedsheets, and a tidy washroom. Everything was well-maintained and made for a really comfortable stay. It truly felt like a great place to relax and unwind. The only two things I’d mention as areas for improvement: the check-out time of 10:30 AM felt a little early, and a few basic toiletry amenities like toothpaste, a toothbrush, and slippers were missing. Everything else was provided and well-stocked. Overall a fantastic stay and highly recommended. Will definitely be returning! 😊

This hotel is really convenient for transport. It's close to the airport, and right next to the train station, from which it's only a 12-minute direct ride to the city center. It's just as good as those hotels in the city that cost over a thousand [currency unit] a night! Plus, there's a super big supermarket next door, which is perfect for picking up souvenirs. Just a heads-up: the hotel's standard is to clean every three days, so if you prefer daily cleaning, remember to arrange it when you check in!

The room quality is on par with a 3-star hotel in China. The hotel staff were very friendly and provided excellent service, but the room layout was quite odd and winding. The bed wasn't very big either. It's super convenient if you want to visit Calton Hill, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're primarily interested in the city center, as it's about a 20-minute walk.
