Without doubt, this was one of our finest hotel stays in recent memory. From the moment we arrived, Novotel Edinburgh set the tone with a level of warmth and professionalism that genuinely stood out. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout and what really demonstrated this was a small but telling moment: we lost our key card during the stay, and it was replaced immediately, without any fuss or inconvenience whatsoever. It's the kind of effortless service that puts you completely at ease, and it's something you remember long after checkout. The breakfast deserves a special mention — it was simply top notch. The spread was so good that holding back was near impossible, and it's the kind of breakfast that makes you actually look forward to the morning. Freshly prepared, well-stocked, and served with care — it's one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. The location is outstanding. Sitting just a mile from Edinburgh Castle, you're right in the heart of one of the most iconic cities in the UK. Public transport couldn't be more convenient either  buses are accessible right behind the hotel, making it incredibly easy to get around the city without needing a car at all. The one area that needs addressing is parking. The hotel's own car park is frequently full, which meant we had to use the nearby NCP instead. To the hotel's credit, they did provide a discount for the NCP - a thoughtful gesture that softened the inconvenience. However, it's worth noting for electric vehicle drivers: the EV charging at the NCP is painfully slow, so factor that into your plans if you're arriving in an electric car. A heads-up from the hotel at check-in would go a long way. Parking frustrations aside, Novotel Edinburgh is a brilliant base for exploring the city - exceptional staff, an unmissable breakfast, and a location that's hard to beat. We'd return without hesitation.

I visited Edinburgh over Easter, which was also my birthday, and had a wonderful stay. Magda was incredibly kind and arranged an early check-in before noon after I confirmed the day before. She also surprised me with balloons and chocolates in my room for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. The staff provided clear information and gave excellent recommendations on places to visit, making my first trip to Edinburgh even more enjoyable. The hotel’s central location was perfect, close to all the main attractions, and the pool was a great bonus. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily visit again.

This stay exceeded my expectations, definitely five stars! The hotel's location is excellent, making travel incredibly convenient. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and professional; check-in was efficient and quick, and they were very responsive to requests, providing truly attentive service. The room was clean, tidy, and odor-free, with soft and comfortable bedding. The soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, stable water pressure, and full amenities. The overall environment was quiet and elegant, with great attention to detail. It offers incredible value for money, and I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in town. Highly recommended for anyone traveling!

We originally booked two twin rooms for four people. When we arrived, they told us there was only one room left and expected all four of us to squeeze into it. After we insisted, they transferred us to another hotel. The original hotel promised to reimburse us for the taxi fare between the two hotels and cover the cost, but when they called a taxi for us and we paid the fare upon arrival at the other hotel, they kept coming up with excuses to refuse our reimbursement requests. This was an absolutely terrible experience.

The experience was just okay. During check-in process, the hotel reception executive advised us that the trip was only booked for 2 adults, (& didn't include 2 young kids), which I had to prove later by showing my booking details via my trip.com itinerary..

Service was good enough and as per expectations of a big hotel brand. Nothing to complain about. The only complaint I have is about the amenities. There was no dental kit provided in the room and when requested for, I was asked to come down to the reception to collect it rather than have housekeeping deliver to the room. There was no single use slippers either and I had to pay £5 for it which I felt was pretty excessive for a disposable pair of slippers.. I paid for it anyway since I needed it. The staff were kind about it though and could do nothing as it was hotel policy. Hope Novotel can review its policies on the provision of these amenities.
