"After descending Huangshan, I came to Hongcun to stay for one night. The proprietress contacted me in advance to inquire about the situation and helped me to arrange a carpooling. The driver said that this homestay is pretty good in this area. After checking in, I was not disappointed. The boss helped me carry my luggage into the room. The room was clean and bright, with welcome fruits and snacks. The toilet had a flush function, the toiletries were complete, the bedding was comfortable, and there was a bathrobe. The slippers are super thick, the same thickness as the ones I stayed in at a five-star resort hotel before! This is so thoughtful😊This time I specially booked a room with a bathtub. The price is very cost-effective with a bathtub. Taking a bath can effectively relieve fatigue. My boss heated up breakfast for me in the morning, which was light and nutritious. After I packed up and checked out, the boss sent me to the entrance of the scenic area. When I finished, I contacted the boss's wife and she brought my luggage to me and then took me to the bus station. The experience of staying here was very good. "I booked two nights, and the first night there was no hot water, so I couldn't shower. The temperature was also low. The front desk service was excellent; they not only handled the situation promptly but also helped me find a heater and adjusted the air conditioning. Parking is free in the parking lot opposite the hotel, but getting your car requires walking along a stone path and crossing a bridge—about 300 meters, which is inconvenient for guests with luggage. The room facilities were decent, but there were clearly not enough electrical outlets. The breakfast set menu was quite good. Overall, this is a guesthouse with excellent service."

"Absolutely loved the hotel's design! From the moment you step into the elevator from the parking lot, it feels ancient and charming. As you walk through the corridors and enter the lobby, there's even a fireplace where you can roast mandarins and marshmallows [milk tea emoji]. The entire design blends oriental aesthetics with unique Southern Anhui features like bamboo, tiles, and stone slabs throughout. The only downside is that rooms on the ground floor can get a bit damp, and the air conditioning is a bit loud [facepalm emoji]. Design and functionality are completely fine though, with an indoor onsen, kids' area, gym, and breakfast – all good for a short stay of a few days. However, compared to a true resort hotel, it might fall a little short."

The lake-view room we booked had a view of the Moon Pond, and from the third-floor terrace, we could see the rooftops of Hongcun Village and the Moon Pond. "We totally recommend this hotel.
It's in a beautiful old building, very well preserved and refurbished, and in a great location: in the Xidi old town, but a little bit more isolated, in the more quiet and less touristy area. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very stylish, it even had a tiny annexed studio room with desk and interesting books with a good kettle and tea set available. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had a very nice bathtub and heated toilet. Our host was super nice and helpful, he came to pick us up and dropped us at the bus station at the end of our stay. He's really friendly and gave us some nice tips on visiting the surrounding villages. He has a very cute dog and a cuddly cat :)
Only negative comment: the room's window is on the side of the main road, so you can hear all the cars passing by. But even then, a great stay!"

"This was my second stay. Hongcun is a great place to relax on weekends, and Zhang's Mansion is as cozy as ever. I told the manager in advance what I wanted to eat, and we ate right away. The food was all bought by the aunties at the manor that morning—fresh and delicious. The rooms are still in the same style, with a classic, antique charm. During the day, I strolled around the village, and in the evening, I went back to the manor to eat, drink, and sleep, relieving the fatigue of work."
