"Our mini stay at the La Luna hotel was perfect: strategic location, central, convenient for walking to Piazza Napoleone and other points of interest within the city walls. It has a private paid parking lot a few hundred meters away (if you call the reception they will guide you in real time!) All the staff - from the girls at the reception to the gentleman at the bar - were kind, friendly and super helpful in answering our questions. The rooms are spacious, bed and pillows very comfortable, good cleaning in general! We will definitely return for a next concert!"

We visited several times during our stay and we'll be back at this hidden gem at our next visit. Quite a walk up the stairs - and only few tables, but I'm sure it's possible to use the lift with assistance from reception (you'll normally need a keycard). We however needed and enjoyed the exercise."

Instructions to get into the property with our car were excellent, and get into our 2 rooms excellent as well. The BB is just fantastic. You can walk to Lucca without need to take the car and suffer. You can get parking outside ( there were spots available for free) but we decided to park in their garage. Breakfast was great too. Property is super clean, tidy and it feels like home. If Lucca is your destination THIS should be the place you stay."

"Not what I expected. Although the rooms are spacious and comfortable they lack the individuality to make your stay feel special. Other than the beds the furnishings are of poor quality and are the same in the other rooms and common areas, not what you would expect in a small 5 star hotel. The restaurant is mediocre at best. A very disappointing stay."

"The Villa is beautiful, the pool area good, on the drive up to the Villa it looked great. Unfortunately almost everything about the place could be better. The room was ok, but dull. A great view for sure, but a tiny bathroom with an elbow bashing shower and sad thin towels. The aircon was noisy and not a match for the morning sun. Breakfast was lamentable. Self served either on a terrace that was not well shaded, or in a dull windowless dining room. Tables were not laid up at all, everything had to be carried out on a tray. A toaster that took an age and only toasted one side. Cheap produce, plastic cheese. The fruit selection varied from day today, if you were lucky there might be a ripe peach. Bread rolls that were a little stale, as if had if they had been frozen. Eggs were rubbery and not refilled if you got down towards the end of service. It was more like a cheap motel breakfast than a good hotel. We had dinner at the Hotel restaurant one evening. It was not good either. The main courses were only ok, the accompanying vegetables were dull. I sent back my starter as the melon was not ripe, an essential if the plate is only melon and ham, it came back with the same melon, but the rind had been removed. Unbelievable! No apologies were offered when I sent it back again. When we came to pay the bill at the end of our stay it was still on it. We felt that customer care was lacking at this Hotel. That corners were cut at almost every opportunity. It could have been great, but it really wasn’t. Oh and check out was at 10 am, really, so last century."

"Villa del Papa is a beautiful guest house located in a small village 10 min from Lucca and not far from Pisa and Viareggio, with a restaurant and a pasticceria in walking distance. The estate is really beautiful, with well groomed grounds and a beautiful garden with a nice swimming pool. The building itself is very well maintained and in a perfect condition. The rooms are immaculately clean and nicely furnished. The only small complaint we had is that the bathroom in our room was a bit small. We could manage, but we are slim and still mobile... The owners are very nice and helpful. Prices are very reasonable, considering the quality of the place and accommodation. So when you are looking for a base for your stay in north-western Tuscany, Villa del Papa can be highly recommended."
