GGuest UserOur impromptu trip to Chongqing led us to this hotel, a blind choice that turned out to be an amazing surprise! 🥹 The location couldn't be better! It's right near the Xiaoshizi subway station in Yuzhong District. Just a few minutes' walk takes you to Bayi Delicious Street and Jiefangbei. A leisurely stroll will get you to Hongyadong and the Yangtze River Cableway. Basically, no need for taxis the whole time, avoiding traffic jams and wasted time – super convenient for getting around! The hotel shares a building with high-end hotels, and the overall quality is fantastic. The Italian light luxury lobby, with its marble and vintage decor, creates a wonderfully gentle ambiance. Every photo you take here turns out beautifully! 📸 We stayed in a high-floor room, and the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offered an incredible view. By day, you see the layered buildings of the mountain city. At night, you can lie in bed and enjoy the night view of Yuzhong – so calming and therapeutic. The room details are truly thoughtful! It comes with a standalone bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day of exploring. Full smart home devices, a heated towel rack, and a wet/dry separated bathroom are all included. The soundproofing is excellent; it's a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, ensuring a really peaceful night's sleep. The self-service breakfast offers a rich variety. The freshly cooked Chongqing noodles taste incredibly authentic. Buns, desserts, and fruits are all available – it's super satisfying to fill up before heading out. The hotel also has a free gym and a self-service laundry room. No need to worry about laundry while traveling – perfect for longer trips. The front desk staff are very friendly and respond promptly to any requests. Whether you're traveling with kids or with friends, staying here in Chongqing is truly comfortable and hassle-free! 📍 Ark Hotel (Jiefangbei Hongyadong Branch)

AAnonymous UserThe room was much larger than it appeared in the photos online. The wall behind the bathroom vanity in the pictures looked a bit cramped, but in reality, it was quite spacious, and the entire room felt open and airy. The decor was tasteful and had a luxurious feel. All the staff provided excellent service, meeting the basic standards of a luxury hotel. The 'one-touch' system in the room was very responsive to any requests, and the hotel even had a butler cabinet similar to the Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou, which was very convenient and introvert-friendly. The breakfast was also good, with a rich salad bar. There was a delicious pan-fried dumpling with shrimp inside, and the Dandan noodles were quite good for Chongqing. Overall, my two-day stay was very pleasant. The mini-bar drinks weren't great – I didn't touch a single bottle over two days – but the snacks were plentiful. Housekeeping was quick to replenish amenities. The only slight negative experience was right before I checked out. There was no mention of room renovations when I booked, and I even specifically requested a quiet room. Perhaps because I was out all day for the first two days and only returned to the hotel at night, I didn't experience any noise. However, on my last day, just before checking out, I was planning to rest a bit before heading to the airport when sudden renovation noise was incredibly loud, and it was even during the midday rest period. If you're sensitive to noise, I'd recommend checking with the hotel beforehand.

GGuest UserVery spacious room with good views! I could see a bit of the river with this room type. Within my expectations for the view. I usually don’t require a lot of service so I barely need to contact reception or use the WeChat for any help. The only down side I face is the lack of floor towel and small hand towel, plus I do not like to use solid hand soap. I mean I didn’t go ask for extra towels as it didn’t bother me that much.

ZZaichuangxintianyaA very comfortable stay! This hotel, newly opened in 2025, boasts incredibly stylish and sophisticated room amenities. They've even done away with traditional phones for front desk contact, relying entirely on smart voice interaction – which took a little getting used to at first! I didn't book a river-view room, but the large floor-to-ceiling windows offered a clear and impressive view of Jiefangbei. Being on a high floor, the UrCove hotels always have excellent views. Breakfast was superb with a wide variety of options, truly living up to Hyatt's quality. I'm definitely planning to return once the 26th and 29th floors are open to experience the magical spectacle of Chongqing's 8D cityscape from above.

ZZuihuasuPerhaps it's because I studied at the most authoritative university program concerning Chongqing's history, but I've always been intensely curious about buildings with historical significance, especially hotels that have transformed from them. Whether I'm sitting on the sofa or lying in bed in my room, I can't help but imagine the stories that once unfolded here. While every space, given enough time, surely holds a fascinating past, spaces with explicit historical information make these fantasies more concrete, or less ambiguous, by narrowing the scope of imagination. I recall a story about an elderly French woman in the last century who came to the French Navy Barracks on Chongqing's Nanbin Road to search for her birthplace. The Ren'ai Hall, built in 1902 by the French Catholic Church, served as both a church and a hospital. During the Anti-Japanese War, it sheltered abandoned infants, earning it the nickname 'Orphanage' among older Chongqing residents. Where did the children born or raised at Ren'ai Hall go? Did any try to return and explore their past? What did they discover? These imagined scenarios could form a novel, and with a large enough sample size, they might even be true historical events. Regardless, the current Ren'ai Hall, both in terms of its guests' physical and mental state and the hotel's physical space, feels far more relaxed and peaceful than it did in the past. After booking the room, several concierges were responsible throughout the entire process. The whole arrangement was very meticulous, and thanks to these arrangements, I personally had no questions that I needed to proactively ask during my entire stay. Before check-in, the concierge would inform me of the exact drop-off points for various transportation methods, and upon arrival, staff members were there to greet me. If I had a lot of luggage, even more staff would assist. The concierge also pre-booked a travel photography team. Teacher Zihao from Zixuan Photography, who handled our travel shoot, was very professional, both in his understanding of light and his ability to capture fleeting moments. A tip for friends who plan to do their own hair and makeup before the shoot: pay close attention to the final effect (the photography team has their own hair and makeup artists who can do it at the hotel, but due to time constraints, I did my own before check-in). It was my first time getting professional makeup, and I had no experience, so the result was so drastic I barely recognized myself, which unfortunately wasted many good photos. The afternoon tea was unremarkable, but whether it was breakfast, afternoon tea, or the evening sweet soup, a concierge could deliver it to the room. As for the room's interior design and the hotel's scenic views, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. (P.S.: Luckily, my room was upgraded to the Qiongyu Fanhua Suite, which I heard is the same one a certain celebrity stayed in.)

GGuest UserGreat location, dinner was good, but let down by malfunctioning hot water in the shower in 2 or the 3 rooms we booked.  We had only ice cold water from the shower. Thankfully it was rectified. In one of our rooms (2005) the shower stall glass sliding door had come off the rails, and could East have fallen on guests, causing serious injury from the weight of the door and broken glass. The check-in staff was very helpful, but the staff at breakfast on 6 Jan was quite unhelpful, and in fact started to argue about the prior breakfast arrangement our tour guide made with the hotel the previous day. Rather than saying she didn’t know and would check, she unilaterally decided the options were wanted (and had prepared the hotel for through our guide’s arrangements the previous day) were not available.

GGuest UserRoom The room itself is good. Clean and largely comfortable but there is no sense of privacy between the room and the toilet. There is a gap between the door and the wall, allowing sound/ smell to permeate. There is also no refrigerator in room. Building The hotel occupies a few floors in a mixed use building but what is not apparent from the hotel listing and the reviews is the state of the building. The building is old and smokey with people smoking in the stairwell. There are only 3 small elevators servicing the entire building. We frequently had to wait 5-10 minutes for the lifts and during morning rush hour, there would be a line of people going out the building waiting to enter the lifts. When we do get to enter the lifts, they’re often packed with people and stop at many floors, with some people insisting on entering the lift even though it would cause the lift to be overloaded. My friend ended up having to get off the lift in order for the lift to continue operating because no one else wanted to get off the lift, not even the inconsiderate people who caused the lift to get overloaded in the first place. There is also no security on the floor that my room was on so anyone can access the building and the floor. Facilities The gym is tiny, smaller than the guest room. There is only 1 treadmill, 1 bike and weights in 2.5kg increment to 15kg only with no bench. There is a cable machine but the mechanism is sticky and it is pretty much unusable. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers in the laundry room but the room was right beside the stairwell and open to anyone to access so there was no sense of security.

GGuest UserThe public areas are designed with a youthful and trendy vibe, and the lounge area is perfect for relaxing. The revolving restaurant on the 29th floor is ideal for enjoying a welcome drink and the night view. The staff are friendly and attentive. The in-room amenities are brand new, and the soundproofing is quite good. The room was thoroughly cleaned, with no stains. Overall, it offers great value for money.

AAnonymous UserExcellent service. Excellent location. Near the BRT (which we took only once). The service apartment is located in a block (that also had another hotel entrance), where the entrance to Fandiao is hidden from the main road. But aside from that, the building is noticeable and is the first tall building just before the viewing deck for the Qiansimen bridge and just before Hongyatong, as traffic flows (one way). My specific booking for this room was for a Saturday night - a one night extension - and we chose the Hongyatong view, as our original room was already booked. We could see the massive crowds from our window view out there at and around Hongyatong and on the Qiansimen Bridge on the May 1 weekend But the previous 4 nights, we were booked under my husband's name, and that room allowed us to see the drones show from the comfort of our large and beautiful room. That first room had a wall-to-wall window, that allowed us a view of the river, a block of apartments right in front of us, and some street views. There are pros and cons to different rooms. The drone show is on weekends. If you are not on weekends, the HongYa Tong view is nicer, but only my first room (which was much larger at 40 sq metres) had a long window seat which was lovely. I share a few photos, one with a view of Hongyatong (this booking, and from the other room, where we could see the drone show. Remember they are different rooms. But you could easily come downstairs and watch the drones from the little corner outside the lobby. There's still a crowd, but you could see the drones rising to the sky. The customer service was excellent, for some reason, we were first given paper disposable towels in our first room, and I rejected that for cloth towels which were then given to us. The reception is on the 19th floor, and all the service personnel were willing to please (communicate via WeChat, with translation). And always asked if there were things they could do. Some idiosyncrasies (from a Malaysian view). They have glasses in the room but no cups/mugs for making tea the conventional English way, but the customer service brought cups with handles when we asked for them. No tea or coffee sachets provided but there were bottles of water and soft drinks, which we didn't take. I think it may be the context where soft drinks (in th fridge) were deemed more suitable and glasses were provided more for soft drinks. I had brought some 3-in-1 coffee sachets all the way from home just in case, that seemed providential when we checked in. Corridors in front of the lifts on the floors are motion sensored, so we were at first surprised by the darkness when the lift opened, but we got used to it. You have to decide whether you support energy efficiency or not. 😂 All in, we had a memorable time in Chongqing, thanks also to Fandiao. I would go and stay again and recommend it. Just bear in mind that the road right in front of the hotel is closed to the traffic at night on weekends (and likely public holidays). Plenty of food nearby, and beautiful spots for photos. There's also a Lawson store across the bridge 100 metres away where we bought our sandwiches, buns, oden, and coffee, for snacks.

GGuest UserI highly recommend the Le Méridien Chongqing, Nanchuan! It's located right in the Nanchuan Wanda business district, next to Line 3's Gongmao Station, making it super convenient to get to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong. Plus, there's a one-stop shop for food and shopping right downstairs. As expected from a Marriott property, the quality is top-notch. The lobby has high ceilings and a strong artistic vibe, and the spiral staircase is fantastic for photos. The rooms are spacious and bright with separate wet and dry areas, and the amenities are premium. The high-floor rooms offer expansive views and stunning nightscapes. Sara and Daisy provided incredibly thoughtful and attentive service – always smiling, enthusiastic, and quick to respond. The breakfast spread was excellent, a rich mix of Western and Chinese options, making for a perfect experience. It's ideal for both business trips and leisure travel. I was extremely satisfied with my stay!
