"Overall, my stay at the Kyoto Arala Hotel was pretty good. The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Kyoto Station, making it super easy to get to various attractions and transfer to other transportation. There are also plenty of convenience stores and drugstores nearby, which is very handy. The room layout was well-designed, and the bedding was comfortable, so I slept really well during my stay. The hotel's on-site hot spring was a major highlight; soaking in it after a day of sightseeing completely washed away my fatigue. The staff were friendly and helpful, and both check-in and check-out were quick. All the facilities were excellent. I particularly appreciated the front desk service that allowed me to courier my luggage from Kyoto to Tokyo, saving me from having to lug my suitcase on the Shinkansen, which was incredibly convenient. The only downside was the extremely slow and unstable Wi-Fi in the room. Streaming videos, browsing the web, and even replying to WeChat messages often resulted in buffering or no connection at all. For all four days, I had to use my own mobile data in the room, and I really hope they can improve this aspect. Putting the Wi-Fi issue aside, this hotel offers great overall value for money."

"The room felt a little small, but the bed was perfectly sized, and the room was very clean. For this price for two people, I think it's the best value hotel in the Kawaramachi-Gojo area. When I went to bed, I was thirsty, but there were no vending machines between the front desk and the elevator, so I endured it. However, when I checked out, I noticed there was a self-service kitchen with a cold water dispenser on the basement floor. For someone like me who isn't very tech-savvy, it would have been even better if there was information about this in the room."

"I forgot to take pictures of the room, but it looks exactly like the product photos. We had a very comfortable May Day holiday. The hotel's location is great, not far from Kyoto Station, but without the noise of being right next to the station. The decor and facilities are very new. It offers excellent value for money. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day. There's a Chinese-speaking gentleman at the front desk who provided excellent service and explained everything thoroughly. The breakfast was rich and varied, but there was a queue, so it's best to allow extra time for waiting."

"This hotel is a 5-minute walk from Shijo Kawaramachi Station. Kyoto isn't very big, and in this weather, you can walk to Kiyomizu-dera, the Gion area, stroll along the river, and even reach the **** area all on foot. On the first day, I took public transport everywhere, only to realize later how close everything actually was. The room is small but clean. It's right on a main road, so there's some motorcycle noise, but it didn't bother my sleep much. For consecutive stays, you can put a sticker on your door if you don't want housekeeping; just leave your trash and old towels outside, and fresh ones will be hung on your door. Breakfast includes four types of bread, onsen tamago (hot spring egg), coffee, yogurt, milk, and mashed potatoes for 40 yuan, which I found very satisfying. Consumables are available for self-service by the elevator. On check-in and check-out days, you can use your Suica card to lock your luggage, which is right in front of the front desk. There are many restaurants in the alley between the hotel and the Kamo River worth trying."

"Lovely hotel with ideal location in KYOTO station. Staff very helpful and welcome drink provided (juice/tea). If getting taxi have the telephone number of your destination as they appear to use this with their sat nav. Shopping mall across the street and lots of eateries in the station. Highly recommend. "This hotel is in a great location nearly next to Nishiki Market. Around the hotel is very quiet. The room we received was facing the graveyard, I’m not sure why there are so many negatives reviews about it but we had no problems with it. No ****** visited us😋😅 The bed was very spacious but a little hard. The pillows were also quite hard so we woke up sore a few times… overall the room was very clean and amenities were available downstairs if needed like toothbrush or qtips. The staff were very kind and brought our luggage to our room before we arrived through luggage forwarding. After check out, they also allowed us to store it in the back for a few hours."

"Stayed here for a few nights while I was in Kyoto. Overall, the service at the front desk were really helpful and kind, and I also enjoyed the bento breakfast that's served every morning, it was really fulfilling, and I still think about it now xD I got the single room, and while it was just enough to let me open up my bigger luggage that was around 24-26 inch, so I feel like if your luggage is bigger than that, it may be a little difficult. However, for someone that travelled solo, and just wants a decent place for my basic necessities (sleep, shower, eat, being in a convenient location etc), it does its job, on top of that, the price was quite affordable too! I would actually consider returning back here to stay, maybe trying out one of their bigger rooms in the future, if I ever do come back to Kyoto, would recommend :)"

Yyoyo0218The room's design is very well-thought-out; you take off your shoes before entering, and it's clean and tidy. There's an openable window, so it doesn't feel cramped like a typical business hotel. The breakfast is quite impressive, even for a high-end Japanese hotel. The popular tempura bar is great when it's fresh out of the fryer, and the menu changes daily. The lounge (pictured in photo 5) is a comfortable place to wait for the shuttle, offering coffee and tea. From 4 PM to 6 PM, alcoholic beverages are available. Enjoying a dark beer while looking out at the view from the window is a truly pleasant experience. I even managed to get one good shot of autumn leaves 🍁 on this trip!

GGuest UserEverything was superb with the one exception, for an onsen hotel that have one of the selling point, in room onsen bath, the water was just regular hot water, why would I need to stay at an onsen hotel with in room onsen bath if any bathtub with hot water would do? Trip.com site did not specify that it wasn’t hot spring water. But luckily there was a better room with actual hot spring water supplied to the room available for upgrade, so I spent the extra to make my stay absolutely perfectly memorable.

UUJHZThe hotel boasts an excellent location, just a two-minute walk from Kyoto Station, making it extremely convenient for both transportation and exploring the city. Being so close to one of Kyoto’s main hubs means you have immediate access to trains, buses, and a wide range of shops and restaurants. Right at the entrance of the property, there is a 7-Eleven, which adds a great level of convenience. Whether you need a quick snack, drinks, or travel essentials, everything is easily accessible at any time of day. Additionally, Kyoto Station itself features a large shopping complex with countless dining options, retail stores, and services, so you are truly in the center of everything. The room size is on the smaller side, but this is typical for Kyoto and was expected. Despite the limited space, the room is functional and suitable for a short stay. The hotel operates with a modern, efficient system, offering automated check-in and check-out machines, which makes the process quick and hassle-free. Amenities are not placed inside the room; instead, guests can pick up what they need from the front desk. This approach is understandable and aligns well with environmentally friendly practices. Breakfast is a highlight of the stay. The quality of the food is very good, and the staff in the breakfast area are particularly warm, attentive, and welcoming, which adds a pleasant start to the day. However, there are a couple of drawbacks worth noting. The area above the bedboard was noticeably dusty, which detracts slightly from the overall cleanliness. In addition, the curtains do not fully block out the sunlight, resulting in the room becoming quite bright early in the morning. I would recommend that the hotel consider providing eye masks for guests, or alternatively, travelers should bring their own. It is also worth noting that eye masks are not available at the nearby 7-Eleven, and during my two-night stay, the strong morning sunlight consistently woke me up earlier than expected.

GGuest UserThe overall cleanliness and room condition of the hotel were good and generally satisfactory. However, I would like to point out a serious issue with the bathroom floor. It was fine when using only water, but once shower gel or shampoo was used, the foam made the floor extremely slippery, creating a clear safety hazard. I unfortunately slipped and fell during my stay, which was quite painful and left visible bruises and swelling on my arms and legs. This was very disappointing. I hope the hotel can take this issue seriously and improve safety measures, such as adding anti-slip solutions, to prevent similar incidents in the future.

GGuest UserFacilities: My only complaint is that the king-size bed in the king room is made of two single mattresses pushed together, and after sleeping on it for a while, a gap forms between them. Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent. Environment: The surrounding area is very quiet, and there are convenience stores not too far away. Service: The service attitude is great, and the hotel even offers free shuttle service to Kyoto Station.

AAnonymous UserI really liked my stay in Tokyu Stay! The hotel is located quite near the train station, doesn’t give any anxiety when getting to the train station with our luggage’s. It is also located near a lot of food places. I like that there was a washing machine provided in the room, it’s so convenient! There are free sake and coffee at the hotel lobby. There are two hotels under Tokyu Stay on the same street so don’t panic if you went to the wrong one, because this outlet is just down the street.

I was very worried this would affect my health and travel plans. However, the way your hotel handled the entire situation made me feel incredibly warm and reassured in a foreign country. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to your hotel. Immediately after the medication became unusable, your hotel promptly offered a sincere apology, without any excuses. You proactively helped me contact a local hospital to schedule an appointment and actively coordinated to resolve the issue throughout, instantly alleviating my panic and concern. The next morning, your hotel specifically arranged for a staff member to accompany me to the hospital, assisting me with all procedures for my appointment, obtaining a prescription, and purchasing new insulin. Their service was patient, thoughtful, and meticulous. Furthermore, your hotel voluntarily covered all expenses for the medical visit and medication purchase, completely resolving all my worries. What could have been a troublesome incident caused by a storage error was transformed into an exceptional service experience, far exceeding my expectations, thanks to your hotel's responsible and dedicated service attitude, as well as the efficient and thoughtful follow-up. DDr.p3pp3rI stayed here in a double room and overall had a pretty good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and both the air conditioning and heater worked very well. One thing that really stood out was the bathroom — the bathtub was much larger than what you usually get in Japan. I’m a tall person, and I could actually sit down and lie back comfortably, which is rare. Most hotel baths feel very small, but this one felt closer to around 1.4m in length, which made having a bath genuinely enjoyable. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job — the bed was made every day with fresh sheets. Wi-Fi was also very fast, which was a big plus. Amenities were decent, and you can pick up extra items if you need them. Check-in is a bit late at 3pm, which I didn’t love, but that’s balanced out by an 11am checkout. Having that extra time in the morning made it feel worth it overall. I did have a couple of negatives. The strangest one was finding an old sock behind the TV when I arrived. It was very obvious and not hidden, so I’m not sure how it was missed during cleaning. It was a bit gross, but I just left it. Another downside was the mini fridge — it’s more like a cooler than a real fridge. It keeps drinks from getting warm, but they don’t get properly cold. In summer, this really wouldn’t be good enough. Replacing it with a proper mini fridge would be a big upgrade. The other major issue was the lift. It is painfully slow, and there’s only one lift for the upper floors. On checkout day, I left my room about 10 minutes before checkout time, and I almost didn’t make it downstairs in time because of how slow it was. That part was honestly pretty ridiculous. Location-wise, this hotel is excellent. It’s very easy to get to from Kyoto Station — just head south and you’re there in about 4–5 minutes. It’s also very convenient when leaving Kyoto by train. A tip for using the subway: instead of going back to Kyoto Station, walk right from the hotel to Shijō Station. It’s on the same subway line, you’ll get on before Kyoto Station, and the train is empty — so you’re almost guaranteed a seat and can ride comfortably to your destinations. For food and shopping, there’s a shopping mall just across the road toward the station with a Don Quijote, McDonald’s, and other options. The hotel is also right next to a Coco Ichibanya curry house, which is fantastic and open late. Overall, despite a few odd issues, this was a solid stay with a great location, good comfort, and very easy access to transport. I’d happily consider staying here again.

AAnonymous UserHotel was in an ideal location and convenient to walk from Kujo station (which is less crowded than Kyoto Station) and beside a convenience store. Staff who checked in us was patient and kindly explained the calculation for the kyoto accommodation tax. We opted for no daily cleaning service which gave us a discount, instead new towels were hanged outside our door each day. The dining area was alright and we were able to find seats at the timing we went though it might be more crowded at certain times. Breakfast buffet had a good spread and the dinner menu was alright. The rooms I got were away from the road so it was quiet and since it was spring time, it didn't feel too hot/cold. The aircon in the room can be set to heater mode. The roads leading to the hotel are relatively quiet with fewer shops.
