A Truly Exceptional Stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto Our family had a wonderful experience at The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, and we left with nothing but gratitude and happy memories. From the moment we arrived, the service was flawless and heartfelt — the kind of genuine hospitality that makes a trip feel truly special. A huge thank you to Cecilia and Vinnie from the Guest Experience team, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and comfortable. Their warmth, attentiveness, and thoughtful gestures made us feel incredibly welcomed. A very special shout-out to Cecilia, who noticed my daughter’s love for Winnie the Pooh after our visit to Disneyland Resort. She prepared a beautiful card, a sweet message, and even a handmade Pooh origami and placed it in our room. It absolutely made our daughter’s day — such a thoughtful touch we will never forget. We also want to commend Yuki from the restaurant team for his warm and wonderful breakfast service each morning. His kindness and attention to detail set the perfect tone to start our day. The Ritz Kids adventure passport was a delightful surprise — engaging not only for our daughter but also enjoyable for us as parents. And of course, we loved the festive Christmas atmosphere, especially the beautiful Christmas tree and the amazing gingerbread house with the incredible aroma that filled the lobby. The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto truly exceeded our expectations in every way. We felt cared for, welcomed, and genuinely appreciated. We can’t wait to return again. Highly recommended for families and anyone seeking an unforgettable Kyoto stay.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Very baby/kids friendly. Price was extremely value for money. Very large room for Japan standard, free flow alcohol - highball, asahi, calpis sour, shochu, wine every night at their pantry level 2 evenings till 10pm. Hotel has hot bathhouse for hotel guests (men and women separate), 3 hot baths and 1 cold plunge. Loved the hot bath experience. Breakfast although not that wide spread was pretty yummy. Very comfortable bed. Highly recommended for families, couples and even solo travellers. Location may not be too central, might have to take Uber or taxi which can be costly. Hotel is next to a small park which was good for morning walks n some photo taking. Perfect for families with kids. Managed to see Some cherry blossoms at the park so was very happy.

The entire Good Natural Station building is great. The hotel lobby is on the seventh floor, and the location is fantastic. The third floor connects directly to Takashimaya Department Store, and the subway station is just across the street downstairs. The City Bus stop is also very close. Shijo Kawaramachi feels like the center of the universe in Kyoto; it’s super convenient for shopping and dining, and you can always head to Kamo River to relax. The triple corner room was quite spacious; it easily accommodated three beds with plenty of room to spare, and the bathroom wasn't cramped either, plus there's a small entryway. The cleanliness was excellent; the bathroom glass and mirrors were perfectly clean, a dream for anyone with OCD. The lounge on the third floor is small and very quiet, with a limited but good quality selection of coffee and snacks.

The hotel is conveniently located in Kyoto, a 10-minute taxi ride from the station and a 30-minute walk to the old town. There's a fantastic Italian restaurant nearby with delicious food and a unique atmosphere. The hotel serves breakfast and has everything a traveler needs. I especially appreciated how genuinely the front desk staff tried to explain where things were, even drawing detailed maps for me to take along so I wouldn't get lost. Thank you for your care!

My stay here was absolutely wonderful; I felt comfortable and relaxed throughout. The hotel's location is super convenient for getting around. The entire hotel is spotless and well-maintained, with public areas that are tidy, quiet, and elegant. My room was immaculately clean, the bedding was soft and comfy, and the layout was practical. All the amenities were complete and fully functional, making for a cozy and secure stay. The staff were incredibly warm, polite, and respectful. Check-in and check-out were handled very efficiently, making the whole experience smooth and hassle-free.

The concierge team is really resourceful and helpful when we asked about luggage delivery service, thumbs up for their service. Just love everything about the hotel, excellent hospitality, great location, beautiful design, spacious room, comfortable bed and etc. Breakfast with huge selection including some Thai dishes, crispy bacons ever, just amazing. It was really great value for the money, highly recommended!

The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient to get around. The service was warm and attentive, and the food was also good. The breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options, and the Japanese breakfast was truly fantastic. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

Spacious room by Japanese standards, great location, nice breakfast (though the coffee from the machine is very bad). Quite poor room cleaning service. They call it “eco-cleaning”, proper cleaning is done only once every three days. The only daily service is towel replacement. Nobody made our bed for three days (without changing the sheets). When I asked the guy at reception how this relates to eco-standards, he couldn’t explain it. Also, nobody washed our coffee cup for three days — they said it’s not covered by their “eco-cleaning standard”.

When we chose this hotel, we saw pictures and videos that made us think it was a resort estate, but it's not. There's very little to see inside the hotel; I could walk through the entire property in 5 minutes. Secondly, the hotel advertises natural hot springs, but the public ones reek of disinfectant as soon as you walk in, which is very unpleasant. The room itself was okay and had character, and the bathtub was very large with a pleasant woody scent when bathing. Finally, the breakfast – honestly, the taste was just mediocre. I wouldn't choose this hotel again at the same price point.

I felt compelled to write a review although it’s something I don’t always do because my partner and I genuinely enjoyed our stay at this hotel! Room is spacious, clean, and housekeeping is done daily. Location is great! close to Kyoto station and several bus + taxi stands. Convenience stores & Don Quijote is a stone’s throw away. Reception was kind and always helpful. The only let down was the view, our room was facing a stairwell/backalley? So we never could fully open our blinds. Nevertheless, we’d be happy to stay here again in the future.
