"What a great funky style hotel in Gardens Cape atown. BlackBrick has done it again...turned a disused office block into a New York style hotel designed for young and old alike. Whether a business person or a tourist, the apartment style living gives you multiple options. And of course the view is a dream. The lift was crazy as it has two sides...that's not the funniest it stops on 2 floors ... one indicating East and one West. I'm curious to talk to the engineer who had to design that...the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there were no plugs next to the bed to charge my phone and it had to be charged in the kitchen area. I have children who live across the world and like to be available at all times to them that was the only draw back so bring an extension cord when you visit. Small price to pay for a great spot "

"Delighted with the hotel! - there are no other words to describe it. Very comfortable and large room with an ocean view, kitchen with groceries, everything is very convenient. Located across the street from the beach. Nice girls at the reception - they helped call a taxi, and since I didn't have cash, only a card, they helped me make a payment through the hotel. And then they even carried my suitcase to the taxi and loaded it, the taxi driver didn't even get out of the car. I didn't expect this from Uber in South Africa... Apparently that's how it's done there."

"There is no way to express the hospitality and kindness of the staff. From the moment we arrived to our goodbyes, they were thoughtful and kind. My husband was sick part of the time and the staff kept asking if we needed a doctor or anything else. The hotel itself is the old dock master’s house. It is lovely and quiet. Ashley was our “go to person” in the house and he made our stay easy and enjoyable. He anticipated our every need. Breakfast was excellent with a buffet as well ability to order off the menu. It is part of the Queen Victoria hotel which is right across the courtyard (where you check in). They have a bar and dining room, so we enjoyed a cocktail every evening before we headed out for dinner. And of course the hotel is right at the V&A waterfront. I can’t recommend the Dock House enough!"

"The hotel is new, clean, and pleasant. Our room had a mountain view. In the evening, when you step out onto the balcony, Table Mountain is illuminated, and it's so mesmerizing; you can feel the power of Cape Town, its grandeur! Lion Head is beautiful at sunset. The hotel is very conveniently located; a taxi to the beloved Camps Bay is 10 minutes, and to Kirstenbosch, 20 minutes. There's a pleasant park nearby called Company's Garden with squirrels and geese, and the park offers a beautiful view of Table Mountain. It's a safe area, but it's best not to go out after 7:00 PM, as the receptionists said; the guys and girls were very nice and always helpful. However, it's best to avoid the restaurant, even though the breakfast is excellent. The chefs are great! They try their best! Everything is beautiful, clean, and delicious!!!!! And the waiters! They don't really like hotel guests; they're more focused on street visitors. If you're from the hotel, they'll look at you like, "Look, we're busy, we have other guests." One very sweet waitress was small, quick, and pleasant, always smiling and joking. When she was working, it was a pleasure to come, but unfortunately, she was only there for two days, then the shifts changed, and I didn't even want to go to breakfast because of it, let alone dinner. You come to eat, and they look at you in a way that immediately ruins your appetite, but if you get the shift of a small, cheerful, quick waitress, you'll be 1000 percent satisfied. She's great! Very lively and kind."

"Although the desk, facility staff were all exceptional, mgmt team failed to adhere to 5* luxury hotel customer service when the amenities one expects from this type hotel with a premium rate fails to meet normal operating expectations! For example, A/C first night inoperable combined with terrible noise that resulted in no sleep followed up by no water pressure during shower next morning. Despite this fact noted by the repairman the next day, hotel mgmt refused to offer any credible consideration aside from if we returned at a later date “something” may be done! After reading other reviews with similar issues, this appears to be common operating procedures!"

So overall, it's okay – but nothing more than that."
