Aqua Terra Boutique Guesthouse - Simon's Town, Cape Town

What a gem! Aqua Terra sits perched on a hillside in a quiet gated community at the edge of Simon’s Town, with sweeping views of the South Atlantic. I woke each morning to stunning sunrises and ended my days watching the sun sink into the ocean—pure magic. ✨✨ The room was spacious and comfortable, featuring a lovely sunken tub and a skylight. Location-wise, you’re just minutes from Boulder Beach and the famous penguin colony, yet the peaceful setting feels wonderfully removed from the bustle. Breakfast was a highlight—Chef Peter’s scrambled eggs are genuinely PERFECT—and sharing the table with fellow international travelers made for wonderful conversation and connection. But what truly sets Aqua Terra apart is Garth. He’s the kind of host who notices the small things, anticipates what you need, and makes you feel completely at home. His warmth and genuine care elevated our entire stay. I felt completely safe and utterly relaxed the whole time. I’d return in a heartbeat. If you’re visiting the Cape Peninsula, don’t miss this place.

We booked & paid for one night at this accommodation via *********** on 11/01/26, staying on 07/02/26. We were to check in between 14:00 & 21:00. We arrived at the address at approx 19:00. There was a gated driveway to a compound with all the accommodation units located inside it and no means of access other than through the gate for vehicles or pedestrians. There was an intercom system and what looked like a camera or sensor. Many of the buttons seemed to be for buzzing specific units as well as “reception”. We couldn’t get any response from “reception” (or any of the units) although the intercom seemed to be working. After about 20 minutes of trying unsuccessfully to contact anyone, we went to the property next door and, thanks to their help, eventually managed to contact the apparent proprietor of Aqua Terra to get access. When we finally had access, we were dumbfounded to be told that our accommodation had been given to someone else a couple of hours previously. The attitude of the proprietor (Garth) was of nonchalant indifference. He said there was a military conference in Simonstown that weekend and accommodation was at a premium. His attitude was that this wasn’t his responsibility or fault (he claimed his wife dealt with bookings) and after our protestations he eventually located accommodation at Caledon in a cabana. This was a 2 hour drive via a mountain pass, in the dark in a country we had only been in for 3 days. Given our experience with the Aqua Terra “booking”, we weren’t going to repeat this, and drove an hour to Cape Town, where we managed to get accommodation for the night. We emailed the proprietor a day later to say how we’d been so badly let down and asked for comments – we’re still waiting. We’ve also contacted *********** and received a refund along with an assurance that Aqua Terra will be investigated. Sometimes it’s best to let the facts do the talking. Suffice to say, any business which treats its’ clients the way we were treated, deserves to be out of business.

It is the most magical place to stay, with beautiful hospitality and the best view you will find in the world. Most of all, Garth and Natalie make you feel totally at home and will infuse your soul with a warmth and energy that will keep you spiritually revitalised long after you leave cape Town.

This Boutique BnB has the most amazing views of Simon’s Town. Garth and's Natalie were the most hospitable hosts..We absolutely enjoyed the breakfast made by Chef Peter.The room was super comfy and exceptionally clean. We stayed in the Fynbos suite which had its own private balcony facing the ocean..Wish we had stayed more than 1 night. Thank you for the small touches added to the room. I ate all the chocolate

My husband and I loved everything about AQUA-TERRA! I can sum up our joy and delight in experiencing a wonderful 7 night stay in the SUNRISE suite in 3 key words. AQUA TERRA is extra special because of the VENUE, the VIEW and the VIBE.This stunning 4 Star B&B is located high on the mountainside in the secure, gated Fynbos complex.Guests have the use of a remote control to come and go.The house is modern, stylish and kept in pristine condition.We were extremely comfortable in our suite, which was serviced daily and had an extra large, very comfortable bed, quality linen and tasteful furnishings.Tea, coffee, rusks and bottled water was supplied and we appreciated the rapid boiling kettle. There was a very attractive fireplace for cosy winter evenings.Simon's Town itself is a delightful holiday venue.It is picturesque, clean, with charming tea rooms and restaurants.The submarine museum is an exciting new attraction. The 180 deg VIEW of False Bay from the lounge, the dining room and all the suites, is breathtaking.Sipping a sundowner on a recliner beside the infinity pool at sunset had a magical and mesmerising effect as we watched the lights start twinkling from Simon's Town to Hangklip and beyond. Then there was the amazing VIBE we sensed upon arrival at AQUA TERRA. The owners, Garth and Natalie are warm hearted and hospitable. Their helper and chef, Peter, is a hardworking Malawian, who is a real Gem. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Because we had let slip that our stay was to be an anniversary and birthday treat, great trouble had been taken to welcome us by decorating our suite most artistically and romantically, with colourful red and white balloons and attractive hearts.Peter, their cheerful and obliging chef, prepared the most enticing breakfast buffets with fresh fruit, yoghurt, French toast, flapjacks, fruit juice,nuts, cereal, followed by a full English breakfast with a choice of boiled, fried or poached eggs or omelettes! We are already missing the aroma of Peter's very special brew of delicious breakfast coffee. From the moment you enter Aqua Terra you become enfolded in a sense of peace and tranquility.Natalie's selection of beautifully calming and soporific music plays softly in the background. Together with the sea air and the fragrance of the fynbos, added to the warm and welcoming home from home feeling Garth and Natalie have created, you will immediately want to extend your stay! The road up to AQUA TERRA may appear challenging to some because at first glance it appears very steep. A car with automatic transmission will sail up to the front door effortlessly. However, as a driver in my 80's, the steep drive was manageable in a low gear without stress even in our 1.2 litre car with manual transmission. Don't miss the awe inspiring view from the house!
