Macau to Zhuhai: Crossing the Border on Foot
Walking across the border is the easiest and most popular option. Simply head to Macau's Border Gate (Portas do Cerco) by public bus, taxi, or hotel shuttle bus. After clearing Macau immigration, you'll walk directly into Zhuhai through Gongbei Port.

This stay truly exceeded my expectations; it's the best hotel experience I've had recently, genuinely deserving a full five-star rating! First and foremost, the cleanliness, which is my top priority, was completely reassuring. The hotel overall was clean and tidy, with the lobby and public areas of the hallways consistently dry and neat, free from odors and clutter. Upon entering the guest room, I was especially delighted; the room was well-ventilated, with fresh air and no musty or strange smells. The bedding was flat and clean, and the sheets and duvet covers felt brand new and fluffy, very comfortable against the skin, with no stains or hairs whatsoever. The bathroom was immaculately cleaned, with no water marks on the countertops or mirrors, and the toilet and shower area were thoroughly sanitized. The toiletries provided were complete and of good quality.
The service throughout was exceptionally warm and attentive. The front desk staff were gentle and patient, and the check-in and check-out processes were quick and efficient, with no complicated steps. Any needs during my stay were promptly addressed by the staff, and the cleaning ladies were meticulous, proactively replenishing drinking water, tissues, and other supplies. The hotel's attention to detail was particularly thoughtful; the lighting and power outlet layout were well-designed, and the WiFi speed was stable and smooth, perfectly meeting both work and leisure needs.
The overall living environment was quiet and comfortable, with excellent soundproofing. I couldn't hear any noise from the hallway or outside, ensuring a very peaceful night's rest. The location is convenient, with many restaurants and a supermarket downstairs. It was a bit inconvenient to check in on the 2nd floor. The front desk staff weren't very enthusiastic; my last stay at Lailimei was much better. What I disliked most was the bathroom design. Not only was it made of transparent glass, but the blind for the glass was actually *outside* the bathroom. This means someone in the room could easily pull back the curtain and see into the bathroom. Luckily, I was only staying with family this time. Traveling to Macao and Chimelong with my family, we decided to stay at the Xiangjiang Vick Hotel, and it was a fantastic experience. At this price point, it definitely deserves a 5-star rating! The transportation is incredibly convenient; it's close to Gongbei Port, about a 15-minute walk, or you can take a bus right outside for just two stops, making border crossing to Macao super easy. For Zhuhai Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, I recommend taking a Didi (ride-sharing app), which costs around 30-40 yuan. We spent half a day strolling and digging in the sand by the beach, which was absolutely delightful. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the hotel-recommended traditional dim sum place was delicious. Plus, it's only a few minutes' drive to the high-speed train station and Zhuhai Airport terminal, making it perfect whether you're catching a train or a flight. The room layout is well-designed, spacious, and comfortable, and it even has a bathtub – a relaxing soak after a long day was wonderful. Relating to all reviews, the place is old and hasn't been redecorated for donkeys. The lobby is huge and hardly a lot of crowds, aka people waiting around. It's so China old-fashioned and hardly hotel-feeling. The exterior is falling apart and could do with a touch-up, but nighttime looks better than daytime. The beds are super soft, but the bathroom was kinda of weird that it was transparent to the whole sleeping area. I think the breakfast buffet wasn't worth eating at all! Everything had no meat in it, no juices; only tea or soya milk, boiled eggs and some rice noodles which you cook yourself. I'd expect at least some sausages, toast, and orange juice, at least. The surrounding area is excellent; a walk of about 300-400 meters south takes you to the southern section of Lovers' South Road, where you can admire the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. From there, you can walk or cycle along the path eastward to access all the main attractions of Lovers' Road. Transportation is extremely convenient, with Gongbei Port just about a 1.3 km walk away. Bus routes 9 and 99, which run along Lovers' South Road, take you to key attractions, and the bus stop is only 300 meters from the hotel. This is my second consecutive three-night stay at InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort. This year, there was a minor unpleasant incident due to a discrepancy in information, but sometimes you need something to go wrong to truly test a hotel's service! My schedule was very tight, so I usually arrived back at the hotel late at night or even early in the morning. On the last day, I decided to stay in and explore the hotel rather than going out.
Regarding breakfast: I used to think hotel breakfasts were just about 'filling your stomach,' so I never bothered eating at the hotel, especially with many famous breakfast spots nearby. However, this time, I discovered that InterContinental Sanya's breakfast is absolutely worth every penny! Not only is there a wide variety, but most items are made to order! For instance, the preserved egg and lean pork congee has its shredded pork and other ingredients added and cooked on the spot! There were about four or five different types! The wontons are also freshly wrapped and cooked, and the taste is superb! The meat is incredibly springy! The bread and pastries are also outstanding, but unfortunately, my stomach can only hold so much. Next time, I'll definitely book a room with breakfast included! 🤣
I don't even need to mention the environment – the breakfast area, executive lounge, and swimming pool all offer almost 360-degree sea views! When the weather is good, it really brightens your mood.
Facilities: The hotel gym equipment is all top-brand, very smooth, well-maintained, and extremely clean!
Another thing worth mentioning is the hotel's culture. I noticed a row of small stalls near the front desk, initially thinking they were just hotel products. I stopped for a moment and found the first stall particularly charming. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a charity project. I saved the details, planning to make a purchase to support it!

A fantastic choice for a stay in this part of Zhuhai! The location is great with a mall just 5 minutes away and plenty of eateries all around. The rooms are big and comfortable, offering a good breakfast along with round-the-clock ice cream and coffee. Nansha provided incredible service at the reception—she takes extra care of guests if you message her for any requirement, and the entire front desk staff is top-notch. My only real gripe is the excessive use of packaging; all towels and bathrobes are tightly wrapped in plastic bags, which causes major environmental pollution and detracts from an otherwise great experience.

I think this is a good hotel. But it’s really out-of-the-way. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood though, so I like that it’s not noisy at night. I really like how comfortable the king size bed was. It’s pretty clean as well, but some of the furniture is old. There is a slight moldy smell  in the room because they gave me a smoker’s room.  I just slept with the window open. It truly lives up to its reputation as Macau's top family-friendly hotel, definitely the best. From check-in, the front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, immediately offering the kids drawing books and chocolates. In the room, there was even a tent for them to sleep in. The children's toiletries set was incredibly comprehensive and high-end, not just a simple toothbrush and toothpaste, but also bathrobes, plastic slippers, and even ceramic mouthwash cups that you could take home for free. Although the hotel has been around for a while, it's exceptionally well-maintained. Each night, turndown service brought different little gifts. The water park and Kids' Club are simply a dream come true for children. Once they're in, they don't want to leave! The hotel exceeded my expectations. They provided a charging cable, slippers, toiletries, and even had a small indoor balcony with thick curtains. It's right next to Macao Polytechnic University, so a lot of guests stay here when dropping off their children for school.FromBRL 234

My mom and I stayed at this hotel, and overall it was a good experience, but we had a couple of issues.
We arrived around 11:00 a.m. and were told that check-in was at 2:00 p.m., so we left our luggage and went out. We returned and checked in later that evening, around 10:00 p.m.
The first issue was the air conditioner in our room. Around 11:30 p.m., I noticed it wasn't getting cold. I waited for a while, thinking it just needed time, but it still wasn't working properly when we were ready to sleep. I called the front desk, and they sent someone to check it. They eventually moved us to another room around midnight, which we appreciated.
The next day, we had to change rooms again. While my mom was cleaning up, she found a used condom on the floor near the bedside lamp. This was very disappointing and raised concerns about the room's cleanliness. We informed the staff member who helped us move our belongings, although I'm not sure if the issue was reported because we had to leave shortly afterward.
Aside from these issues, the staff were helpful, and the hotel itself was nice. If it weren't for the air conditioner problem and the cleanliness issue, our stay would have been great.FromBRL 281

In spite of the age of the hotel, it still looks modern. Hotel has three restaurants: Western, Chinese and Thai cuisine. I tried all of them - every time is a new menu. Not average hotel bar - really provides a lot of interesting cocktails and premium spirits. Room dining service works great. I received a treat from a hotel - a birthday cake - it was tea touching.
In my opinion, location of the hotel is quite convenient. Area is quite, at the same time can walk to historical places, nearby there’s a modern community with restaurants, coffee shops, convenience stores.
I didn’t find a hairdryer and body lotion (before it was provided by the hotel). Rooms are big and well furnished. Definitely stay here again.FromBRL 279

The hotel is within walking distance of the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, which takes around 15–20 minutes even with luggage. There’s also a nearby public bus stop that provides convenient access to the Cotai area. The housekeeping staff were friendly as well.

Hotels in Macau are so much better than those in Hong Kong, honestly. For a similar or even lower price, you get a much bigger room. I've stayed at the Londoner in Taipa before, but if you're looking to explore the old streets rather than just shopping malls and casinos, staying on the Macau Peninsula, in the old town, is much more convenient. This time, I chose the New Orient Landmark; it wasn't expensive, and the room was quite spacious. While it's not brand new, it's well-maintained. The room even came with a dehumidifier. It's a short walk to Wynn Macau, Lisboa, and Grand Lisboa. Strolling to the Ruins of St. Paul's and Rua de Cinco de Outubro is also easy. There are also buses nearby to Coloane and other areas. Really, the entire old town isn't that big; it feels like everything is within a three-kilometer radius. If you enjoy walking, you can get everywhere on foot. It was definitely a much better experience compared to the hotel I stayed at later in Hong Kong.FromBRL 267

The environment here is excellent, super value for money, and the staff are incredibly friendly. They even proactively helped us carry our luggage upstairs when they saw we had a lot. Free luggage storage is available, and all the staff are very accommodating, basically fulfilling every request. The environment is clean, tidy, and feels very upscale. Overall, I'm very satisfied! I was genuinely impressed by the hotel and its overall ambiance. The property has a charming, coastal elegance that gave me beautiful Brighton vibes, making the stay feel both relaxing and memorable.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped, with a bathtub that added an extra touch of luxury. The staff also provided everything I needed throughout my stay. While I found the service to be somewhat reserved and less accommodating than I had expected, I understand that this may simply be a difference in culture and hospitality style.
Aside from that, I had a wonderful experience. The hotel itself was beautifully maintained, peaceful, and comfortable. One of the highlights of my stay was having the pool almost entirely to myself, which made the experience feel especially private and relaxing.

This was my first time staying at an Ascott hotel, and it was a surprisingly pleasant experience. The front desk staff were professional, warm, and attentive, making me feel right at home. The biggest surprise was getting two complimentary breakfasts (simple but tasty!). The hotel is apartment-style, equipped with a coffee machine, induction cooker, washing machine, and even dishes and cutlery, so you can do laundry and cook. The drinks in the fridge were also complimentary. The hotel's location is convenient, right across from the MGM. Traveling after the May Day holiday, the price was fantastic 😎.
