Traveling from Macau to Zhuhai is one of the easiest cross-border journeys in the Greater Bay Area.
As the two cities sit right next to each other, visitors can choose from several convenient transport options, including walking across the border, shuttle buses, cross-border coaches, taxis, private transfers, and ferries.
This guide covers the main transport options, border crossing points, and useful travel tips to help you plan your journey smoothly.

The most popular way to travel from Macau to Zhuhai is via the land border crossings. Many travellers simply walk across from Macau's Border Gate (Portas do Cerco) to Zhuhai's Gongbei Port, which is directly connected to Zhuhai Railway Station and the city centre.
Other options include free hotel shuttle buses, cross-border coaches, taxis, private transfers, and ferries. With multiple transport choices available, travelling between the two cities often takes less than an hour.

Walking across the border is the easiest and most popular option. Simply head to Macau's Border Gate (Portas do Cerco) by public bus, taxi, or hotel shuttle bus. After clearing Macau immigration, you'll walk directly into Zhuhai through Gongbei Port.
Once you arrive, Zhuhai Railway Station is just outside the immigration hall, making it easy to continue your journey by high-speed rail. You'll also find shopping centres, restaurants, and public transport connections nearby.

Many Macau hotels and casinos provide complimentary shuttle buses to major border crossings such as Gongbei Port and Hengqin Port.
These services are a great way to save on transportation costs, especially if you're staying at one of the participating properties. Most shuttle buses operate every 15–20 minutes, although waiting times may be longer during weekends and public holidays.
After arriving at the border, passengers must complete immigration procedures before continuing into Zhuhai.

Cross-border buses are an affordable and convenient choice. They depart regularly from different locations around Macau and travel directly to Zhuhai's city centre or major border checkpoints.
Passengers must get off the bus to clear immigration before reboarding. Services are frequent, with departures often available every 5–10 minutes throughout the day.

Private transfers offer the most hassle-free travel experience. Drivers pick you up from your chosen location in Macau and drop you off directly at your destination in Zhuhai.
This option is especially suitable for families, groups, business travellers, or anyone carrying large amounts of luggage. Although more expensive than public transport, it provides the greatest convenience and comfort.

A ride from Macau International Airport to the Border Gate typically takes around 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Additional charges may apply for luggage and certain pickup locations.

For a more relaxed journey, you can take a ferry from Macau's Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal or Taipa Ferry Terminal to Zhuhai's Jiuzhou Port.
Ferry services are comfortable and help you avoid road traffic. However, schedules may be affected by weather conditions, so it is recommended to book tickets in advance and arrive early for boarding and security checks.
