Back in Beijing this year, as usual, I chose the New Otani Chang Fu Gong. I'm getting less inclined to fuss about things, so I booked a higher floor directly, and the room was indeed better than last year, plus the floor was very quiet. The room's cleanliness put me at ease, and the toiletries were quite premium. Thanks to the front desk young man for giving us rooms close to each other, which made coming and going and greeting each other very convenient. Thank you! This time, due to a tight schedule, I had breakfast directly at the hotel. The quality was still excellent and didn't disappoint me. The Japanese breakfast tasted spot-on, though the miso soup on the second day wasn't as hot as the first – I hope it can be hotter. The Western salad bar had over a dozen kinds of mixed oils and salad dressings, which was very authentic. Our Beijing zhajiangmian (fried sauce noodles) and dalumian (gravy noodles) were also delicious, giving a feeling of home ❤️. The white pomelo in the fruit section was very sweet and juicy; I ate a lot 😅. In the hot food section, I felt the pan-fried tomatoes were a bit undercooked; they could use a little more heat. All in all, I was very satisfied with this stay. Looking forward to staying again next year.From€81

Facilities: You can tell it's a very old hotel, but the facilities are still perfectly adequate.
Cleanliness: Excellent, very clean.
Environment: Although we visited in winter, you can still see that this hotel has a wonderful environment with a small courtyard, corridors, and a pond.
Service: Satisfactory service; you can tell the staff are well-trained.
What I liked most was the location. The back door leads right to Dongjiaomin Lane, and just around the corner is Zhengyi Road. You really step out right into ancient sites. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Beijing.From€74

The hotel's French palace style is indeed beautiful and great for photos, but the lunch was... questionable? There's no buffet for lunch now, only set meals. It was almost inedible, not even as good as breakfast.
Facilities: A bit old. The showerhead was completely weak and sparse, and the hot water from the bathtub was only lukewarm.
Service: Housekeeping was very thorough, and the restaurant service was excellent. However, other aspects of the service were completely inconsistent with a five-star hotel; I'd even say there was no service at all. The security guard at the entrance parking lot was incredibly loud. As soon as I arrived, I heard him yelling at and shooing away drivers, which I found perplexing.
Executive Club Benefits: What executive club benefits? I didn't experience any, and the front desk didn't explain what the executive privileges entailed.
It's hard to give this place another chance.From€100

The service was exceptional! A special thanks to Jenson Wang and David Wu from the concierge team. Seeing that I had my child with me, they helped me with all my luggage, from carrying it to my car. Their attention to detail was truly impressive. I also want to express my gratitude to the housekeeping staff on the 18th floor. When my room key wouldn't work and I was about to take my child swimming, they proactively offered to go to the front desk, get a new key made for me, and even delivered it to the pool reception. The room attendant cleaned promptly, and there was a dedicated person in the lobby to operate the elevators. The gym and pool staff were friendly and welcoming. The deluxe view room, facing due east and located on floors 25 and above, is part of the executive level, offering panoramic views of the East Third Ring Road. In the mornings, you can gaze at the 'fog city' (referring to Beijing's occasional haze), and at night, admire the iconic illuminated landmarks. The nearby multi-story PwC building, lit 24/7, evoked many similar memories for me. The pool facilities were also excellent – a truly worthwhile experience!From€87

1️⃣ The hotel's location is truly unbeatable. Subway Line 2 is right at the entrance, and Tiananmen Square is only about 1.5 km away by bike, making it very convenient for sightseeing. Although it's a bit far from the Summer Palace, the location itself is genuinely great.
2️⃣ Now, about the service. On the night of the 30th, perhaps because the hotel is older, the soundproofing was exceptionally poor. Why do I say exceptionally poor? It was to the point where you could hear conversations from the next room crystal clear. This wasn't a huge issue until a man checked into the room next to us on the night of the 30th. His snoring was so incredibly loud that it was impossible to sleep. It was already past midnight, so I called the front desk. It seemed to be an intern who answered, and they very pleasantly moved us to another room, which was an upgraded room with an outer window. However, after the switch, the upgraded room was actually a bit smaller than the original one we were in. Since I had a 30-inch suitcase, it was quite cramped and difficult to move around once opened. Also, the room lacked an air purifier. All in all, the upgraded room was significantly less comfortable than the original one. I asked the intern at the front desk if they could offer a complimentary breakfast as compensation, but perhaps the intern didn't have the authority, so they didn't agree.
A few minutes later, the lobby manager called, explained the differences in the upgraded room, apologized, offered a complimentary breakfast, and arranged for housekeeping to deliver an air purifier and a humidifier (they initially sent the wrong item, so comrade Jianjun from housekeeping had to make two trips at such a late hour, which I felt very bad about, but comrade Jianjun's attitude was consistently good and not impatient at all, and I really want to praise him for that).
(The room was a bit warm, and I asked the front desk several times if there was a way to alleviate it. One reason was the central air conditioning, and the other was the in-room AC. Even after turning off the in-room AC, it was still very stuffy, and no other solutions were offered. However, the lobby manager on duty on the night of the 30th suggested bringing a humidifier, which felt very thoughtful. Overall, the solutions were very comforting).
The room is a bit old, given its age, but most of the staff are very enthusiastic, and transportation is convenient. I would still choose this hotel next time I visit Beijing.From€58

We booked a family room and it was incredibly spacious, essentially two standard rooms joined together. Having two bathrooms was a huge convenience; both adults and children could get ready without any hassle. The water heated up quickly and the pressure was consistently strong. The location is perfect for sightseeing – it's super easy to get to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the National Museum. Wangfujing Pedestrian Street is right next door, there's a 7-Eleven across the street, and a Qingfeng Steamed Bun shop. Diagonally opposite is Zigongyuan Roast Duck, which always has a huge line because it's so popular. There are countless things to praise about this place! We stayed for 5 days and were very satisfied. The only minor drawback was the limited TV channels; there were only about 30 local stations available.From€54

Whenever I'm in Beijing, I usually book at Communal. The location is excellent, and getting around by subway is super convenient.
They even upgraded my room to a suite with a living room, fully equipped with everything I needed. The humidifier and air purifier were a really thoughtful touch.
The soft drinks in the mini-bar were complimentary too.
No need to worry about dry skin either, as they provide a large bottle of body lotion.
The gym is on the 16th floor; you can get a good half-hour strength workout in.
The hotel breakfast is also great. Although the space isn't huge, it's very refined. This time, I discovered the cold chicken breast salad was really delicious.
I hope the quality remains consistent. I'll definitely return if I have the chance.From€54

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beijing **Peace Hotel (Beijing)** Review
My stay at the Peace Hotel in Beijing was an overall delightful experience and exceeded my expectations.
📍 **Location**
The hotel boasts an excellent location in the heart of Wangfujing. It's incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, and reaching major attractions, making it ideal for both business and leisure travelers.
🛏️ **Room & Comfort**
The room was clean, tidy, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and reassuring stay. Despite being in a bustling city area, the room was quiet, allowing for a good night's rest to alleviate the day's fatigue.
🤝 **Service (Special thanks to the Front Desk Team)**
I'd like to extend a special thanks to the front desk staff: **Eric, Zane, Anna, Eva, Harry, and Lena.**
All six staff members demonstrated high professionalism and patience. They were incredibly thoughtful in assisting with transportation arrangements, providing directions, and preparing 'Please drive me to' cards, which made communication seamless for international travelers and ensured a smooth and worry-free check-in process.
🏨 **Overall Impression**
The Peace Hotel not only possesses historical charm but also balances practicality with a personal touch, making it a reliable and welcoming establishment. While it may not be the most luxurious option, its meticulous service and prime location truly make guests feel cared for.
✅ **Highly recommended** for travelers who value quality service, convenient location, and an overall positive stay experience.

My patience completely ran out after dealing with the check-in for the first room, then the second – how can a 'five-star' hotel front desk be so torturous to guests?
I had planned a relaxing weekend with my elderly parents and children, but instead, I endured a humiliating check-in process at your hotel's front desk. No matter how good the facilities are, they can't make up for the damage caused by terrible service.
Here are the awful experiences for both rooms:
1. **First Room: Extremely inefficient and already rude.**
During the check-in for the first room, the front desk staff was incredibly slow and absent-minded, especially when entering guest information. What was even more baffling was that she sat in front of the computer but asked *us* to write down our names, only realizing what the names were after we showed her! Do they not understand basic Chinese?! Her face also showed complete impatience. At a five-star hotel, don't front desk staff even have the basic knowledge to input a guest's name?
2. **Second Room: Deliberate delays and insulting an elderly person.**
According to policy, check-in should be available by 2 PM, but there was no news about the second room. My elderly parent politely went up to inquire, and the front desk again thrust a piece of paper at them, coldly demanding they write their name themselves.
—A young, able-bodied staff member unwilling to write, yet making a seventy-year-old person bend over to write – what kind of service logic is this? Is showing disdain to an elder the way your hotel treats guests?
3. **Problem only resolved when conflict erupted.**
There were clearly vacant rooms, yet they deliberately delayed; they could have easily helped, yet they chose to make it difficult for my elderly parent. It wasn't until my parent was forced to get angry, drawing the attention of other staff, that someone came to mediate and promptly arranged the room.
We can't help but wonder: if we hadn't protested loudly, would we have waited indefinitely? Did the front desk intentionally discriminate and pick on guests?
This experience left us feeling doubly hurt:
* **Time wasted**: For two rooms, a significant amount of unnecessary waiting and negotiation time was spent.
* **Dignity trampled**: Especially the disrespect shown to my elderly parent, which was disheartening and infuriating.
If a hotel's front desk can't even manage basic efficiency, respect, and empathy, then even the best facilities seem disingenuous. Traveling with elderly parents and children is already difficult; we chose a five-star hotel for peace of mind and comfort, but instead, we got extra exhaustion and a heavy heart.
I strongly advise other family guests: If you expect at least basic respect and smooth service, please choose this hotel with caution – the front desk here might give you two 'how to treat guests coldly' practical lessons during the check-in process for two rooms.
We have truthfully documented this experience and hope the hotel management will seriously address the severe shortcomings in front desk service. Don't let cold faces tarnish your brand.
To be fair, the breakfast and kids' club were good, and all other staff were excellent, but the front desk! Absolutely speechless!From€109

This hotel, recommended by a blogger, is located right above Dengshikou Station on Metro Line 5. The lobby is very grand, and there were still some Christmas decorations up. The room was quite spacious, with a bathtub, and a single armchair next to the twin beds. The furniture was a dark tone, probably a bit old-fashioned. The room's AC couldn't be set to cool in winter; you could only set the fan to the lowest setting. Coming into the room from outside, it was really hot, which wasn't very comfortable. Everything else was perfectly fine. It's super convenient for visiting the Forbidden City, going to shopping malls, visiting Cai Yuanpei's former residence, and getting to the airport.From€144

Review: Stay Home
This trip was like an encounter with prehistoric man and a case study of a failed business combined.
If you book a standard room, you will be taken away from the five star reception area to another building which has the decor and standards of a thirty year old hotel. Faded carpets, peeling walls, smelly interiors, uncleaned floors and rooms which are impossible to heat. But it was just about liveable, in that it had a bed and hot water. What totally failed to impress were the amenities. We'd come for the children's stuff, the little zoo, water park and others. The price of these are not included in the hotel, and for each experience they charge adults and baby to the tune of 80rmb, meaning you will spend quite a bit to use it all. As soon as I saw the children's rides I became depressed, they were rusting and looked murderous, as if the nuts and bolts would be dislodged and explode fatally in all directions if a kid shook too heavily on the things. To even use anything suggested you'd become unclean as well. Then you attempt to ask staff something but stop when you realise how futile it would be to address someone with one eye in its forehead and the other in its chin, with their peers boasting similarly fascinating facial misalignments. An hour of that and we wanted to leave, including our baby. She would have been much happier at home playing with her toys, or rather just happy at home doing anything than being at the Nirvana resort. Anyway, the swimming pool is not free either, they will charge you 58 a person including child. When I went to ask about a swim, staff were downright stunned I'd walked in to ask such a question, watching as I entered and left with hillbilly intensity and incomprehension.
You can see the park had a lot of money invested in it before, way back in the misty past, but I can't see them recouping their losses. The resort is a grab money scheme with separate interests taking care of, or neglecting, what is on offer. I can't see them attracting a moneyed middle class without a total overhaul.
On the plus side, my wife and I did have a good laugh about how bad it was and the fact we'd packed for a few days in expectation of a holiday, but found ourselves cancelling after an hour. The reception was helpful with this and refunded our money. The staff are well meaning in a vacuous kind of way, going about their duties as the whole place drops about them, broken lifts, falling plaster, water leaks and all. But to be sincerely positive, the gardens are pleasant along with the lake and ducks.From€72

I brought my kids to let off some steam over the weekend and stayed in a Deluxe King Room. It seems I ran into the Beijing Orthopedic Surgery Medical Conference, so rooms were quite scarce.
Service: Check-in procedures seemed a bit complicated, and I waited for about 15-25 minutes on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. However, guests who booked through Ctrip seemed to check in faster, didn't need to pay a deposit, and got their rooms immediately. With the hotel almost fully booked on a weekend, it seems some high-tier Marriott members tried to battle for an upgrade but weren't successful, which further confirmed the room shortage. I had requested a bed rail in advance, and it was provided right away.
Environment: Standard five-star hotel.
Hygiene: The room hygiene was good, and swim caps are required for the pool. The only drawback was that the children's club restroom had an odor that spread to the activity area because the door was left open, which is not up to five-star standards.
Facilities: Overall good, nothing was broken. However, the TV is an older model and doesn't support screen mirroring.From€86

Having spent considerable time in the vicinity of the International Club, International Building, Japanese Embassy, Associated Press, and Ritan Park, I'm very familiar with this area. The hotel is strategically located just off Chang'an Avenue, at No. 21 Jianguomenwai Avenue, Chaoyang District, Beijing. It's situated in the heart of the CBD, adjacent to Chang'an Avenue and the Embassy District. Jianguomen subway station is a mere 7-minute walk away, and iconic landmarks like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are just a few blocks from the hotel. It also offers convenient access to vibrant shopping and entertainment hubs such as Guomao, Wangfujing, and Sanlitun. I myself spent nearly a decade working in the International Building.
Upon entering the lobby, its high ceilings and grand, pillarless design create a truly magnificent impression. The suites are thoughtfully laid out and exude an elegant, classic charm. A serene garden with a gentle flowing fountain enhances the overall sophisticated ambiance. Despite opening in 1997, the facilities are comprehensive, and the environment, cleanliness, and service all maintain a first-class standard. The standout feature is the unforgettable butler service; the personalized, one-on-one attention makes you feel right at home. The 24-hour comprehensive butler team provides exceptional service, anticipating and fulfilling every guest's need.
Our butlers, Jasmine, Parker, Alex, and Bradley, orchestrated a series of unique experiences, including the St. Regis's classic traditional ritual of champagne sabrage. This spectacular event took place in the gallery of the Danielli Italian Restaurant on the hotel's second floor, where guests collectively raised their glasses, savored exquisite champagne, and celebrated. The sabered champagne cork was then presented as a cherished keepsake. Dylan Zhao and Candie (灿灿) went above and beyond, waiting for our return even after we came back late from a football match at Workers' Stadium. As we opened the door, they were already there, ready to welcome us home with comforting warm honey-lemon water and hot peppermint Earl Grey tea, perfectly prepared for optimal flavor. Their handwritten cards were also a thoughtful touch, now treasured keepsakes. They truly made our St. Regis night wonderful, cozy, and unforgettable.
While there's so much more I wish to express, my feelings at this moment are truly beyond words, deeply etched in my heart. This unforgettable St. Regis experience will forever be etched in my memory. I look forward to returning on August 25, 2025. Stayed for two nights over the weekend with my parents, and the whole family was very satisfied.
To be honest, none of us really did much research for the trip. We owe it all to our wonderful butler, Ada. From before check-in, to the check-in process itself, booking hotel restaurants, arranging a birthday surprise, recommending local attractions, and check-out – she provided high-quality information, suggestions, and arrangements every step of the way. She saved us from any detours or wasted time. Ada was truly instrumental in making our family trip so enjoyable these past two days.
The breakfast was another highlight. Not because of the whole lamb ribs, beef short ribs, and ham, but because even with a large number of diners and a queue, the overall replenishment of food, clearing of dirty tables, seating, and even the coordination by the management team were all incredibly well-organized. It's clear that the restaurant's management level is on par with any major brand resort hotel.
We plan to visit again when the weather gets warmer.

For the past few months, every weekend, I've enjoyed finding a quiet place to unwind from the week's fatigue. Booking an executive room at a five-star hotel and savoring the exclusive afternoon tea and happy hour has become my unique weekend ritual. After experiencing several different five-star hotels, I still unequivocally chose Kempinski again.
Although its executive rooms are more compact and refined compared to executive rooms in other hotels, the beautiful view of the Liangma River outside the room always captivates me.
The lounge's afternoon tea and dinner genuinely surpass many five-star hotels; the rich and delicious food always satisfies my taste buds.
On the first day of the New Year, I met service staff member Feng Xiangchao again, and he was as enthusiastic and attentive as ever. Knowing I can't eat very cold food, he warmed up all the seafood for me, which was incredibly thoughtful. The next day, we met another service staff member, He Xu, who recommended the best-tasting desserts and, seeing a child nearby, kindly reminded the child and parents to be careful. The attentive service from every staff member here truly makes us feel warm and comfortable.
At dinner, I chanced upon a couple with their child. Like us, they also spend every weekend at a five-star hotel. They, too, chose Kempinski again after trying several other five-star hotels because they shared our experience of warmth, excellent service, and delicious food here.
This is more than just a hotel; it's a sanctuary for many loyal customers, a haven where they find solace in their busy lives. She remembered my accommodation preferences and even sent welcome fruits, which truly warmed my heart. Later, when I wanted to extend my check-out time, she quickly and efficiently arranged it. Her smile was always gentle and appropriate, never overly enthusiastic or pushy, just the right amount of attentiveness that instantly dispelled any initial unfamiliarity and made a fantastic first impression.
And the room was full of delightful surprises! As a clean freak, the first thing I do is check the cleanliness – the bedding was spotless and odorless, no dust in the corners, the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the vanity was pristine, not even a single water mark on the mirror. A detail-oriented person's dream come true! The decor blended contemporary design with an Asian flair, adorned with exquisite artwork. The warm yellow lighting on the wooden furniture, coupled with the garden view outside the window, created an elegant and cozy ambiance. What really touched me was the bedside fragrance, which was consistent with the lobby's iconic scent – fresh and not overpowering. Paired with the soft bedding, I enjoyed a wonderful night's sleep until dawn.
The New Year's Day festive atmosphere was simply fantastic! From the hotel entrance to the lobby, carefully arranged New Year's Day flower baskets were everywhere. The red and gold flowers, adorned with pine branches and lanterns, exuded both traditional Chinese festivity and the sophistication of a high-end hotel. You didn't even need to find the perfect angle for photos; every snap turned out to be a New Year masterpiece. Especially the giant flower basket in the center of the lobby, a perfect fusion of traditional aesthetics and festive cheer, making you feel the rich New Year's spirit and sense of occasion the moment you walked in.
The dining experience was truly god-tier! The fruitwood roasted duck at Shang Palace is a must-try; the skin was so crispy you could hear it crackle when you bit into it. Wrapped in a thin pancake with sweet bean sauce, the rich aroma of the fat mixed with the fruitwood flavor was incredibly satisfying. The crispy garlic chicken had a golden, crispy skin and incredibly tender, juicy meat inside, with a rich garlic flavor that wasn't greasy. The buffet restaurant offered an even wider selection – unlimited fresh and springy lobsters, beautifully marbled Japanese sashimi, and creamy Italian Robella ice cream, each bite a moment of pure happiness. The dining environment was also superb; the carved partitions in Shang Palace paired with warm lighting created a classic Chinese ambiance that naturally encouraged you to slow down and savor the moment. The sense of ceremony was absolutely perfect.
As a well-established five-star hotel, Shangri-La Beijing's quality never disappoints – clean and comfortable rooms, a wonderfully festive atmosphere, a feast for the taste buds, and the heartwarming service from Ms. Yuan Xiaofan, all made this New Year's trip an unforgettable memory.From€90

The environment is beautiful, a traditional Chinese courtyard house. The transportation is convenient, and it has a very Chinese character. The breakfast is quite delicious, with many varieties, nutritious and healthy. I really like it. The room is relatively clean and quiet. The Courtyard Two-Bedroom was truly excellent, a peaceful oasis in a bustling area. Our housekeeper, Danika, contacted us back in late September and helped us prepare delicious fruits and Forbidden City-themed desserts. The biggest surprise was the anniversary cake she arranged for us!
The room was on the second floor with a fantastic view. Our family of four enjoyed watching TV in the living room – the screen mirroring was very convenient – while sipping tea and snacking on desserts. It felt so cozy and like home!
Breakfast could be delivered to the room. Judy, the breakfast staff, was incredibly warm and enthusiastic, helping us take photos and showing great patience 👍. Having breakfast in the courtyard was a unique experience! Many thanks to Danika for her kind service; she responded instantly to messages and was very responsible and dedicated in her work 👍👍!
The package included a spa treatment. The overall ambiance was lovely. Vivian was very meticulous, and Angela and Mary gave excellent massages!From€924
