Australia ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) is a digital travel authorization that allows tourist to enter Australia for short term stays purposes including personal trips or business trips.
Travellers can apply for ETA application online in Australian ETA app instead of apply for traditional visa.
It’s quick, convenient, and can be applied for entirely online.
The Australia ETA visa is an electronic travel authorization linked to your passport. It replaces the need for a physical visa label or stamp. Once approved, your details are stored in the immigration system, so there’s no paperwork to carry when you travel.
The ETA is designed for travelers from eligible countries who want to visit Australia for up to 3 months per visit.
The specific countries include:
You need an ETA if:
Australia ETA Eligibility Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
Eligible Nationality | You are from an eligible country (check the official Australian immigration website). |
Purpose of Visit | You are traveling for tourism, business trips, or short family visits. |
Length of Stay | You plan to stay in Australia for up to 3 months per visit. |
Exception: If you hold an APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) that includes Australia, you may be exempt from the ETA requirement.
Before applying, make sure you meet the basic requirements:
Required Item | Details |
|---|---|
Valid Passport | Your passport should be valid for your duration intended stay in Australia. Since the ETA is linked electronically to your passport, incorrect details may lead to delays or boarding issues. |
Email Address | A valid email address is needed to receive your ETA approval notice. Keep access to this email, as you may need to present it during check-in or immigration procedures. |
Credit or Debit Card | ETA application fees are paid online. Major credit and debit cards are generally accepted, and payment must be completed for the application to be processed. |
Travel Details | You may be asked to provide supporting information such as flight booking confirmation and proof of accommodation, including hotel reservations or a host’s address. |
