This super cute drinkware shop on Nanjing Road in Shanghai is located right next to the famous hand cream brand, Qing. If you're looking for souvenirs, I highly recommend it! The prices are very affordable, starting at just 29 RMB. If you want more aesthetically pleasing shapes and vibrant colors, they usually range from 129 to 159 RMB. Overall, the quality feels pretty good. They even offer free custom engraving for names or patterns on your cups! Plus, they sell other fun items like birth month flower fridge magnets. It's the perfect place for souvenir shopping ❤️.

If you're looking for a place to stay in Shanghai that's close to the Metro, shopping malls, and plenty of restaurants, I highly recommend this place!
Ji Hotel Shanghai The Bund Jiujiang Road

I booked a 20 sq.m. Twin Room with two single beds. It has an openable window and absolutely no cigarette smell. The room is quite spacious—you can open two 25-inch suitcases at the same time. The interior is pretty clean. The bathroom separates the wet and dry zones, and a hairdryer is provided. The outlets are universal, but I'm not sure if other room types have the same, so it's a good idea to bring a universal adapter just in case. The air conditioning is also adjustable.

❌ No bidet sprayer
❌ No refrigerator

What I loved: If you need fresh towels or want the trash cleared, you just leave them outside the door, and they'll take care of it. You can also ask for fresh bottled water every day.

What I didn't like: Our room was on a floor that required walking up a short flight of stairs, and the early check-in fee was a bit pricey.

📍JI HOTEL Shanghai The Bund Jiujiang Rd.
It's within walking distance from East Nanjing Road Station.
Take Exit 2, and you'll see Pop Mart. Turn right towards Five Guys, cross the street, and walk straight for about 100 meters to find it.
🕰️ Check-in is at 3:00 PM.

P.S. We took an early morning flight and arrived at the hotel around 7:00 AM, so we asked for an early check-in. It cost an extra 219 RMB, but the staff also gave us breakfast coupons.

I got it for 2,7xx (Jan '26).

Shanghai is one of the most photogenic cities in Asia. Here, futuristic skyscrapers stand side-by-side with ancient Chinese gardens, and the streets look straight out of a sci-fi movie. Below are the top spots to snap those viral Pinterest and Instagram shots.

1️⃣ The Bund 🌆

The most famous photo spot in Shanghai.
This is the waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River, offering the classic view of the futuristic Pudong district skyline.

📸 What to shoot
	· the skyline and its towers
	· the reflections of the skyscrapers in the river
	· historic European-style buildings

⏰ Best time: sunset and the "blue hour" right after sunset
💰 Free
⏱ Allow 1–1.5 hours.

💡 Pro-tip
Snap a photo by the Waibaidu Bridge — it offers one of the most stunning skyline views.

2️⃣ Yu Garden 🏮

A classic 16th-century Chinese garden that's the complete opposite of Shanghai's modern skyscrapers.
Featuring pavilions, bridges, koi ponds, and sweeping curved roofs — this is the quintessential architecture of traditional Chinese gardens.

📸 Insta-shots
	· the tea house on the water
	· red lanterns glowing in the evening
	· the iconic zigzag bridge
⏰ Hours: roughly 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
And in the evening, there's gorgeous illumination that I actually loved even more
💰 Admission is around $5–6

3️⃣ Oriental Pearl Tower 🔮

One of the city's major landmarks. Standing 468 meters tall, the tower has become an absolute icon of futuristic Shanghai.

📸 Best photos
	· looking up against the sky
	· from The Bund waterfront
	· framed between the skyscrapers in Lujiazui
⏱ Time to visit: 1–2 hours

4️⃣ Wukang Mansion 🧱

One of the most popular Instagram spots among local influencers.

This Art Deco building looks like a Parisian flatiron building, surrounded by the highly aesthetic streets of the Former French Concession.

📸 What to capture
	· the distinct wedge shape of the building
	· surrounding cafes and vintage shops
	· European-style streetscapes

💡 Pro-tip
Take a stroll from Wukang Road → Anfu Road — it's a super popular citywalk route.

5️⃣ 1933 Old Millfun 🏢

A very unique and eccentric spot.
Once a slaughterhouse, today it's a creative arts space featuring a maze of concrete staircases and interlocking bridges.

📸 Why influencers flock here
	· mind-bending futuristic architecture
	· symmetrical staircases
	· gritty industrial vibes
💰 Free entry
⏱ 30–40 minutes is plenty of time.

💡 Bonus tip
The citywalk format works perfectly in Shanghai — simply wandering through neighborhoods and discovering photogenic streets.

The most beautiful areas include:
	· The Former French Concession
	· Xintiandi
	· Tianzifang
You'll find old alleyways, cozy cafes, and incredibly atmospheric streets.

We checked out the immersive restaurant Taste of China, and it’s way more than just grabbing a bite. It’s an authentic journey across China without ever leaving your table 🇨🇳

Picture this: you're surrounded by 270° projections and 360° surround sound, magically transporting you from the misty mountains of Jiangnan to the rippling waves of the Li River, and onto the iconic Bund in Shanghai ⛩️
Everything moves, echoes, and comes alive right around you.

Every dish represents a different region of China...
Each course is perfectly paired with a specific tea and accompanied by its own story. Between servings, you're treated to a live show featuring traditional dances, face-changing, and kung fu elements.
And yes, there's even a virtual panda chef 🐼

You can try on traditional Hanfu, play interactive games right on your table, and truly feel like you're part of the action.

We honestly loved it: the show is spectacular, the food is delicious and unique, and the vibe makes you feel like you're starring in a movie.
If it's your first time flying to China and you're visiting Shanghai, I highly recommend making this your very first stop 📍

It’s an incredible way to "meet" the country all in one unforgettable evening 🤍

BANGKOK PRICES FELL.
SHANGHAI PRICES STAYED HIGH. ✈️🌏

But here’s the surprising part most travelers may miss:

🇨🇳 Singapore Airlines to Shanghai is currently CHEAPER than China Eastern on some July dates.

Current July fares from Singapore:

🇹🇭 Bangkok
✈️ Scoot Boeing 787-9
S$272 return

✈️ Singapore Airlines Boeing 787-10
S$377 return with 25kg baggage

But Shanghai pricing tells a different story:

🇨🇳 Shanghai
✈️ Spring Airlines Airbus A320
S$411 return
(no checked baggage)

✈️ Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800
S$526 return
(full-service + 25kg baggage)

✈️ China Eastern Airbus A320-212 / Boeing 787-9
S$550 return
(2 x 23kg baggage)

Yes… SQ’s A380 flight is actually cheaper than China Eastern here.

That’s quite unusual.

Normally many travelers expect:
China carrier = cheaper
Premium airline = more expensive

But airline pricing doesn’t work that simply anymore.

Why Bangkok prices dropped 🇹🇭
✔ Singapore June holidays ending
✔ airlines suddenly need to fill seats
✔ massive route competition
✔ Thailand routes are highly price-sensitive

Result:
Bangkok fares softened quickly.

Why Shanghai stayed elevated 🇨🇳
✔ China summer holidays starting
✔ strong domestic tourism demand
✔ business travel still resilient
✔ China capacity recovery still incomplete
✔ fuel costs remain elevated

And this is where things become interesting:

Spring Airlines may LOOK cheap at S$411…

But after:
· baggage
· seat selection
· meals
· airport convenience

…the gap narrows very fast.

Suddenly:
✈️ SQ A380 at S$526
doesn’t look expensive anymore.

Especially when compared against:
✈️ China Eastern at S$550

This is why travelers should stop comparing airlines purely by “budget vs premium” labels now.

The pricing landscape in Asia has changed quite a bit after the pandemic years.

Current July benchmark from Singapore:

🇹🇭 Bangkok
· Under S$300 = very good
· S$300–400 = normal

🇨🇳 Shanghai
· Under S$450 = good
· Around S$500+ = current normal

Personally, I think Thailand becomes the better value destination in July 2026 if airfare is your biggest consideration.

Save this for future flight planning.
And comment “JAPAN” if you want the next comparison:
🇯🇵 Japan vs China summer airfare trends.

The stroll kicks off at One on the Bund and continues for 1.5 kilometers along Shanghai's most iconic avenue and the Huangpu River, before crossing the Suzhou Creek. Here, you can take in a stunning array of impressive architectural styles set against the backdrop of Pudong’s futuristic skyline—where sweeping historical architecture meets soaring modern verticality. Several renowned art galleries are also dotted along the route.

BUND ONE ART MUSEUM

 WALDORF ASTORIA
[2 Zhongshan East Yi Road]. Home to the former Shanghai Club which originally opened in 1911, this spot has been beautifully restored to capture the vibe of that golden era. Think dark woods, coffered ceilings and paneling, plush velvet, and jazz-age charm. Grab a cocktail at the legendary dark-wood Long Bar (an L-shaped masterpiece stretching 30 meters). Be sure to pause and soak in the ambiance at the Peacock Alley atrium.

THREE ON THE BUND
[GF 3 Zhongshan Dong Yi Road]. Built in 1916, the former Union Building is a Neo-Renaissance gem featuring a symmetrical facade and Baroque flourishes. As the very first project by architects Palmer & Turner, its steel-frame structure was hailed as a technological marvel of its time.

BUND 18
[18 Zhongshan Dong Yi Road]. Famous for its two massive Corinthian columns, carved beams, and a grand lobby boasting a 7-meter-high ceiling, this classic Greek Revival building was designed by Palmer & Turner. It was completed in 1922 and opened its doors in 1923 as the office for the Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China, which officially established itself in Shanghai in 1928.

WAIBAI DU BRIDGE. Take a stroll across this historic truss bridge, built in 1907, and make a left onto North Suzhou Road.

 BROADWAY MANSIONS HOTEL
[20 North Suzhou Road]. Erected in 1930, this 22-story Art Deco masterpiece by Palmer & Turner is famous for its distinctive stepped facade.

GENERAL POST OFFICE BUILDING
[276 North Suzhou Road]. Built in 1924, this historic building now houses the Shanghai Postal Museum. Its rooftop garden serves up a breathtaking panoramic view of the Suzhou Creek and Pudong's towering skyscrapers. Take a quick look around and head over to the neighboring Bellagio hotel.

AMBER BUILDING
[27 Huqiu Road]. This beautifully restored Neoclassical building is a hotspot for gallery exhibitions, featuring big names like Lisson, Perrotin, and gallerist Almine Rech-Picasso.

 ROCKBUND ART MUSEUM
[20 Huqiu Road]. Tucked right behind the stunning, spire-topped Christian Literature Society building, this highly influential contemporary art museum is located in one of Shanghai's most gorgeous historic buildings. Originally built in 1932 for the Royal Asiatic Society, it has been flawlessly restored to its former glory.

 MATTHEW LIU FINE ARTS
[Suite 205-206A, 99 East Beijing Road]. In-the-know collectors make it a point to stop by Matthew Liu's gallery, which showcases heavy hitters in the contemporary art world, including Shen Chen, Candida Höfer, Qi Lei, and Eduardo Arranz-Bravo.

FAIRMONT PEACE HOTEL
[20 East Nanjing Road]. Originally opening as the Cathay Hotel in 1929 before becoming the Peace Hotel in 1949, this landmark building, crowned with its signature emerald-green pyramidal roof, is an absolute Shanghai legend.
