I was visiting relatives in Shanghai and didn't want to trouble them with arrangements, so I just picked a hotel close to Nanjing Road. I'm really satisfied and highly recommend it to everyone. Here's why:
1. **Excellent Location:** After a long day of exploring Nanjing Road, my partner and I were exhausted, so it was super convenient to just walk 200 meters back to the hotel.
2. **Outstanding Service:** The service was impeccable. Ms. Starry Cui at the front desk was so warm and generous, and another gentleman who checked us in was also very polite. They even upgraded us to a suite, which we really appreciate!
3. **Fantastic Food Options Nearby:** There are so many delicious places to eat close by, including white-cut chicken, yakitori, and Cantonese cuisine, all within 100 meters of the hotel. It was great to have a few drinks and then just head straight back to our room.
4. **Thoughtful Concierge:** The concierge was very attentive to the elderly in our group, which I really appreciated and added a lot to our positive experience.
5. **Classic 5-Star Room:** The room had a standard 5-star setup with a somewhat retro feel and a bathtub, which my partner absolutely loved.FromTHB 2,786

I really enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Nanjing. The room was comfortable, the hotel was well maintained, and the location was very convenient. What made the experience extra special was the warm hospitality from the front desk, especially Una. She was extremely kind and welcoming, and I truly appreciated the complimentary breakfast provided each day. Convenient location to business buildings and tourist attractions. Just 2km or so to Nanjing Pedestrian Road. But, nothing much is opened before 10am near hotel. So, if you're looking for breakfast before 10am, you might need to travel a little further. There's a convenience store just underneath the hotel. However, for my room on 9th floor, every now and then, there's sewage stench coming from the vent, possibly from the toilet of the unit above? It lasted several minutes. That's the main issue with the unit. Otherwise, I had comfortable sleep and I appreciate the kitchen and washing machine in the room.FromTHB 3,876

The front desk staff were warm and helpful during check-in and check-out, making for a pleasant experience.
The room cards have a sleek design with a matte, non-slip backing that feels good to the touch. We were given two cards, which was convenient for separate entry and exit, and the power-saving card was already inserted in the room, so no extra steps were needed.
Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, with separate Chinese and Western sections that you could choose from freely. However, the two sections were a bit far apart, requiring a walk back and forth if you wanted to get items from both.
We booked an Executive Bund View King Room (on floors 25-30) and were assigned a corner room on the 26th floor. The room was spacious and very clean. The wardrobe had plenty of hangers, easily accommodating four outfits, and there was even space on the left for ironing.
However, there were a few drawbacks: a moth flew out from behind the headboard as I approached it, some facilities seemed a bit dated, and the indoor lighting was a bit dim.
Additionally, despite being called a “Bund View Room,” the window primarily faced the city, with only a small section near the TV wall offering a view of the Bund and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Furthermore, the curtain on the right side was fixed at the top and could only be pulled towards the corner, meaning the section by the TV wall couldn't be opened. To enjoy the Bund night view, I had to walk behind the curtain or manually pull it aside, which made the viewing experience somewhat inconvenient.FromTHB 3,908

2nd time stay at this hotel and as always, it has clean & spacious room, just in the middle of Nanjing Lu Pedestrian Street so many shops, eatery & malls just outside the hotel. It has free washing machine & dryer to use. Easy to find many kinds of food around the hotel, mini supermarket just beside the hotel, friendly staffs and comfortable beds. Need to note that this hotel might has some few stairs to reach some rooms, so for elderly, make sure to inform them and request rooms to reach without stairs. I come to Shanghai every two or three months, and I always stay here.
**Ambiance:** The red maple leaves in the garden have turned, and they're so beautiful. It truly lives up to its reputation as a Japanese-managed hotel; even the environmental details have that special touch. This is why I love this hotel. Plus, the express checkout is super convenient.
**Service:** This time, I felt the service quality had declined a bit. I called for things to my room twice and had to wait a long time, then call to follow up. Especially when the room heating wasn't enough, I was freezing while waiting. Later, the housekeeper proactively brought an extra blanket.
However, as a loyal guest, I didn't feel a special sense of belonging.
**Facilities:** The remote control by the bed is really difficult to use. The settings jump around, and it's hard to tell what you're adjusting. It's usually fine, but in winter, the room temperature just wouldn't go up. It was truly freezing.
**Breakfast:** Still delicious.FromTHB 3,480

My stay at the Pullman Shanghai Jing An was absolutely perfect! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was impressed by the hotel's elegant and stylish design, as well as the warm and attentive service. The concierge not only helped with my luggage but also provided a detailed introduction to the hotel's facilities and local tips for getting around, which made me feel truly cared for. I stayed in an Executive Deluxe Room, which was spacious and bright, offering panoramic city views through its large windows. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The Executive Lounge deserves special praise; the afternoon tea pastries were exquisite and delicious, and the evening happy hour offered a wide selection of food. The staff there were consistently friendly and smiling, which enhanced the experience. The hotel's location is excellent, just a short walk to the Nanjing West Road commercial district, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. My stay at Conrad Shanghai was absolutely fantastic! Ella at the front desk was super efficient and attentive; check-in was smooth with no waiting time. Laughing, the duty manager, was gentle and courteous, and Cici from the switchboard was polite, thoughtful, and very quick to respond to requests. The room was spacious and spotless, with exquisite and stylish soft furnishings. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the bathroom facilities were comprehensive with plenty of hot water. The views were expansive, and the natural light was excellent. The hotel's amenities are top-notch, and the public areas are refined and grand. It's conveniently located, with easy access to transport and shopping malls. My entire stay was comfortable and pleasant; quality truly shines through in every detail. Jing'an District Shanghai|0.85km from downtown
The hotel’s location is very good. It is about a 5-minute walk to a huge Starbucks, Nanjing West Road, the MRT station, and Wujiang Road, which has several nice bakeries and food options. This made getting around very convenient. There was also a 7-11 just across the road.
However, the Premier Two-Bedroom Suite was disappointing for the price paid. The rooms are rather small, especially the master bedroom, where there was not enough space to place or open any luggage. We had to keep our luggage in the living room instead.
The bathroom, particularly the shower area, looked very dated. The tiles appeared old and there was a musty smell, which was unpleasant. Another inconvenience was that the light switches were only on one side of the bed, making it very inconvenient to switch off the lights from the other side.
The kitchenette was also very small. Cutlery was stored in a drawer above the bin, which was not ideal, and there were no extra plates provided. The tiles looked old with visible cracks, and some of the drawers were faulty. Overall, the room did not feel premium and felt overpriced for what was offered. The hotel rooms clearly need a glow-up to match the Kempinski brand and the rates charged.
Additionally, the reception area was undergoing renovation, with no seating or waiting area. The pick-up and drop-off driveway is very narrow, only a small lane. When loading our luggage, we had to do so very quickly as other cars were waiting. The driveway would benefit from being more spacious.
While the location is excellent, the room condition, layout, and facilities did not meet expectations for a Premier suite.FromTHB 4,467

Although the room was small, it was very well-appointed. From the window, I could see iconic landmarks like Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl, and Jing'an Temple was right in front of me. The service was standard and reliable, always responsive to requests. Breakfast had limited options but was exquisite. The in-room dining service was very convenient. The wonton noodles I ordered the first time were exceptionally delicious, so I ordered them again today for lunch, but the taste and texture were significantly different, and I'm not sure why. We had been to the Shangri La hotel in Pudong before at Christmas for the afternoon tea and loved it so much we decided to spend a weekend here near Chinese New Year. The staff were friendly, breakfast buffet was amazing and the location right by the river with a view of the Bund is wonderful. The pool facilities are good, but inclusion of more amenities like a sauna or jacuzzi would make it even better, hence the 4/5 stars for amenities. Otherwise, we had a perfect stay. Our New Year's Day stay at The Anandi Hotel with my family was absolutely perfect, a definite five-star-plus experience! Although we had to wait a bit for check-in due to full occupancy, a big thank you to Ms. CICI; her warm service turned what could have been a minor hiccup into a major plus.
Upon arrival, the elegant lobby instantly helped us relax after a tiring journey. The front desk staff patiently explained the full occupancy situation and suggested we have a meal at the hotel's restaurant first. After checking in, a butler delivered a wellness tea. Considering we were traveling with elderly family members and had a slower pace, they proactively offered a late check-out, which made our trip much more relaxed.
Our room was spacious and bright, with soft and comfortable bedding. The breakfast selection was extensive, offering both Chinese and Western options to satisfy everyone's tastes. The hotel's attention to detail was truly thoughtful, from the unique wellness tests to convenient charging ports, all of which demonstrated their genuine sincerity.

The hotel room facilities are good, with everything that should be there. The smoking area outside is also very beautiful. The breakfast in the morning is very good, it is self-service, and there are freshly made noodles to eat. If you are thirsty, you can go downstairs at any time to have some drinks and fruits, which are all included in the hotel package. Why the deduction? Like many reviews wrote, the water in the pool here is really too hot. It is the hottest of all the hot springs in Shanghai that I have been to. It feels too hot. I saw that several children could hardly soak in the water for a while. I don’t know why so many people complained. I saw that the management was still saying in the comments that it met the hot spring temperature requirements. What they said is that your water is too hot, and they are giving you suggestions. Everyone in the hot spring said that the water was hot, not that you violated any regulations... It takes talent to reply like thisFromTHB 1,731

Location: Situated in the Jin Mao Tower in Pudong, the hotel boasts an excellent location among Shanghai's tallest buildings. We checked in at the sky lobby on the 54th floor. It was snowing that day, with snow high up and rain on the ground, so this was the only place we could see the snowflakes.
Facilities: The elevators were quiet and fast. The room facilities were well-maintained, which is impressive for a hotel that's been open this long. The bedding was comfortable and very warm, especially with the low temperatures these past two days.

Prime location in Jing’an, right by Metro Gate 12 with a Lawson next door.
Unfortunately, the hotel feels very dated, especially the room interior, and is in need of renovation. My Bund-view room request made via Trip.com was not acknowledged at check-in and was only changed after I raised the matter. The bathroom is small with dull tiles, no bidet, and unclear hot/cold water indicators. Room lighting is dim, the safe cabinet is rough to use, and the windows need cleaning.

The room I stayed in this time was at the end of the corridor, but it was on a mid-to-lower floor, which meant the view was a bit limited and it was a bit noisy. The lighting fixtures in the room showed that the hotel has been around for a while, and renovations are slow, as evidenced by the peeling and damaged wallpaper. In-room entertainment was quite basic, with only regular TV channels available and no screen mirroring or on-demand features. However, the staff's attitude was commendable; they promptly replaced missing linens. A special thanks to the cleaning lady on the 15th floor.
