The hotel is just a few mins walk to Nanjing Road, and the Bund.
The downside during our stay was, the air conditioning was not in operating mode. Our room felt warm and stuffy, even we Tilted the windows. We sweated during our sleep at night.
When we feedback to the hotel, they told us due to winter, the air conditioning in rooms are not in operation.
The bathroom ceiling leaks and we need to call lobby twice to finally fixed the leak.
Also, our TV doesn’t has signal connection and need to call lobby to fix it.
I was very upset as our 3 nights stay wasn’t a comfortable stay.FromSGD 123

This is my second time staying here. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. They try their best to accommodate us in all aspects. I bought a pair of shoes that would be delivered to the hotel on the next day, I informed the concierge and they thoroughly went through details of the expected parcel to prevent errors and miscommunication with the delivery. The next day when my parcel arrived, the concierge called and make sure the parcel delivering was the correct one for me. As for the house keeping, they noticed that we drank all 4 bottles of complimentary water everyday and from our 3rd day of staying onward they gave us 6 bottles without our request. Not to mention that I accidentally spilled milk over my bed in the rush, I informed the front desk before we headed out and they enthusiastically told me not to worry they would send the house keeper to change my bed sheet right away. In the morning of our last day, Oliver from the front desk called to confirm our check out and informed that hotel’s check out time was twelve noon. They also asked how many luggage we had and what time would we want the concierge to come collect them which I told them to come up around 11am, and at 11am sharp they rang on my door. Oliver from the front desk came along with the concierge, accompanied us down and helped us through the check out process and luggage deposit. Around 1:30 pm when we came back from lunch, our luggage was ready for us to pick up and headed out to the airport.FromSGD 125

All the staff was extremely helpful. no hesitation there. breakfast was great, we had our fill. This is one of the best hotel in Shanghai thanks to its location, its amazing garden, and the architectural heritage (the ground floor/lobby if the former French Club that operated until 1949). I only have positive comments to make on the hotel itself and its staff.
Yet, travelers should be aware that despite its name (Okura), it is no longer run by the original Japanese company, but by the Jinjiang Group, a state-backed entity. The reason I mention this is that during my last stay, Shanghai hosted the 8th International Import Exhibition. Since some foreign luminaries has booked rooms in this hotel, it became at once and for 5 days a military camp. All the gates were closed and closely monitored. Metal detectors were installed in the entrance and security check was mandatory (including body scan when one beeped under the metal detectors). No matter how many times a guest went out, even for a short strol in the garden, going though the metal detectors was mandatory. The lobby was full of policemen, undoubtedly courteous, but still an overblown presence. The hotel admitted that as a government-backed hotel, they had to comply with any demand by the authorities. So if you plan to book a room in this hotel, make sure that no big event will be held during your stay. Contact the hotel beforehand.FromSGD 155

The Pullman Shanghai Jing An is centrally located in Shanghai, right next to Shanghai Railway Station and Metro Line 1. It offers convenient access to famous attractions like Nanjing Road, Jing'an Temple, and The Bund, making it ideal for getting around. The front desk and concierge service were excellent; they were welcoming, patient, and assigned a very satisfying room. The hotel facilities are comprehensive and well-equipped, with everything you'd expect in a room. It was clean, and the bedding was comfortable. The housekeeping staff on each floor were also very polite, always greeting me whenever I saw them. The hotel boasts a heated swimming pool, and after a morning swim, enjoying breakfast in the restaurant downstairs is simply wonderful. The location is fantastic, close to Zhang Yuan and the new Louie ship, also the largest Starbucks. You can find both luxury shopping and dining options nearby. The hotel is situated at the back, providing a quieter atmosphere, which I prefer.

Highly recommended. Mr. Li provided outstanding service throughout my stay. He helped me with multiple things, including changing rooms and finding items I needed. My Chinese isn’t very good, but he always listened carefully and communicated in a way I could understand. What impressed me most was that he assisted me right away even at midnight when I needed to change rooms. He genuinely gives his best to every guest.

Booked a collection executive room and was very happy with my room on the 29th floor with the most perfect view on Shanghai's skyline. Hotel is perfectly located on the Nanjing East road in the very center of Shanghai. Hotel itself and rooms are a bit worn out - need renovation in the nearest future but room was immaculately clean and provided with fresh bottled water every day.
Breakfast was very good - both chinese and western. cuisine provided, lot of fruit, pastry and very good coffee.

Today is my last day at The Westin Bund Center Shanghai. At first, I loved the hotel, but unfortunately, the experience has slowly deteriorated.
Before arrival, I had tried emailing ************************* to make a small request to celebrate an anniversary, but the email failed to deliver with an error saying the recipient’s server didn’t recognize certain characters. I’m not sure why, as the email was in English and sent from my phone.
At check-in, I mentioned this to the receptionist (his name started with “C”), who was very polite and spoke to the lady behind him, asking her to reach out to Angela to assist. He then told me to head to my room and assured me I would be contacted. I waited for an hour in the room with no update, so I went out hoping to find a message upon my return, but sadly, there was still nothing.
The email issue could have been my fault, and that is fine. But what is unacceptable is being promised a follow-up for such a special occasion and then never receiving it. For a hotel of this standard, I expected better communication and service consistency.
Later, my son lost part of his toy, which led me to start searching around the room. While doing so, I discovered dust under every cabinet. Worse, I found what looked like someone else’s cream bottle stuck between the bed and the dresser. This makes me believe that the bottom part of the bed sheet was not changed, as housekeeping would almost certainly have noticed such an item if the bed had been properly stripped and remade.
I have stayed in many Marriott properties, and this is the first time I would give only 2–3 stars. :(FromSGD 179

The Grand Central Hotel Shanghai is located next to Nanjing road so it’s very central. The decoration of the hotel looks a bit outdated which lots of golden colors and palm trees in the lobby. Upon my arrival the concierge staff helped to take out my luggage from the car and as we were walking inside he wanted to store my luggage and telling me that check in was at 2pm. I arrived at 12pm. I told him I will go to the reception first and brought my luggage with me. The receptionist checked my booked and said the room isn’t ready and asked me to wait. As I was very tired I asked how long I need to wait and he said until 2pm. I asked if I could perhaps double check at 1 pm and he said ok. I checked again at 1pm and the room wasn’t ready. Finally I got the room at about 1:40. The room size was good and the maintenance of the room was ok although a bit worn out but the decoration looks very outdated and makes the room look more old. Moreover, they had some old brochures in the room which doesn’t really apply to today’s needs such as an old Shanghai yellow pages catalogue etc. Furthermore, there was two bottles of water in the room with tags and on the tag it was clearly stated that only two bottles of water is provided per day per room and additional water bottles will be charged at 10RMB per bottle. I think this makes the hotel seem stingy, supposedly stating that it’s a five star hotel. Haven’t encountered this at hotels with lower star ratings that I stayed at. Another issue was that the HBO channel on the TV didn’t work and that was the only foreign channel on the tv for movies so perhaps international travelers wouldn’t have much to watch. My stay was so so.. the most positive aspect being the central location.FromSGD 158

A top-tier luxury experience on the Huangpu River, Pudong Shangri-La truly lives up to its reputation! Choosing Pudong Shangri-La for my Shanghai trip was a fantastic decision; from check-in to check-out, it was filled with pleasant surprises. It truly deserves its status as a benchmark five-star hotel in Shanghai.
The hotel's location is absolutely superb, nestled in the heart of Lujiazui. It's within walking distance of iconic landmarks like the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai Tower, and right next door to Super Brand Mall, offering a one-stop solution for shopping and dining. Metro Line 2 is also just a stone's throw away, making it incredibly convenient for both business and leisure travelers.
What truly captivates is the unbeatable river view. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the guest rooms offer panoramic vistas of both banks of the Huangpu River. Review: The Langham Shanghai — Still Well-Located, But No Longer the Same
The Langham Shanghai has long been one of my preferred hotels, especially before the pandemic. After many stays, I’ve come to expect a certain standard of hospitality, consistency, and refinement. This recent visit, however, showed a noticeable decline across several areas.
Service
Overall service from the staff was acceptable. Front-line employees remained polite and tried their best. However, the manager on duty—a Caucasian manager—felt out of touch with Asian hospitality norms. His attitude came off as dismissive and rude, which immediately set the wrong tone. The contrast between the staff’s warmth and his behavior was striking.
Breakfast Buffet
The most significant drop was in the breakfast buffet. Quality has slipped in a way that’s hard to ignore: food didn’t taste as fresh, dishes weren’t as well prepared, and the overall selection felt uninspired compared to previous years. At this point, it’s honestly better to go out for breakfast.
Room & Housekeeping
Room cleanliness was fine, but small inconsistencies added up. Turn-down service was missed on some nights. When I requested water refill, the staff who arrived seemed confused about why she had been sent up, leading to an awkward exchange. These are small moments, but in a five-star hotel, they highlight cracks in training and coordination.
Overall Impression
The Langham Shanghai still has one unbeatable strength: location. But nearly everything else has declined—food, consistency, management attitude, and attention to detail. After years of loyalty, I’m now considering switching to a different hotel for future trips. The experience simply didn’t match the standards I’ve known and trusted from The Langham brand.
A disappointing stay from a once-reliable favorite.FromSGD 258

The hotel's location is great, and the room layout gives me a vibe similar to resort hotels in Sanya. As the only wellness hotel among Shanghai's ”Gold Diamond” hotels, it's definitely worth experiencing. The bedding is incredibly comfortable, with over a dozen types of pillows to choose from. Every morning there's a wake-up tea, and the evening turndown service includes mushroom soup and cookies. All in all, it's excellent. Iris at the hotel is particularly wonderful; she proactively communicated and quickly resolved issues when she learned of some minor imperfections. A big thumbs up to her! The cleaning staff, Sylvia, and the housekeeper, Belia, are also great! But the biggest praise goes to Iris, with whom I even became friends!FromSGD 261

This private hot spring hotel is an absolute gem! From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were completely charmed. The Japanese-inspired decor created such a cozy atmosphere, and the staff greeted us with warm smiles throughout. Check-in was quick and incredibly thoughtful, and we even received a complimentary room upgrade!
A special shout-out to the private hot spring in the room! Soaking in the wonderfully warm bath at night, with complimentary tea and bath salts thoughtfully provided nearby, was pure bliss. My body instantly relaxed, and all my fatigue melted away. The water quality of the bath was impeccably clean, which was incredibly reassuring.
The room amenities were also impeccable. The bedding was so soft and comfortable, I fell asleep the moment I lay down. The toiletries had a subtle, refreshing scent that felt lovely to use. Breakfast was a semi-buffet, and while the selection wasn't vast, every single item was exquisite and delicious.
While the location isn't in the city center, its peacefulness is a huge plus. There's a small park nearby perfect for a stroll, and it's also convenient to drive to the city. Overall, it's an ideal spot for both couples looking for a romantic getaway and friends gathering for a relaxed break. We will definitely be back!FromSGD 119

The photos were taken casually, and the environment and atmosphere were both great.
I wanted to find a hotel with hot springs to relax during the off-season, and I happened to see this one and checked in.
First, the pros: The environment is good, the lobby has a strong Christmas atmosphere, and the staff at the front desk and restaurant are very friendly. The snacks the auntie delivered in the evening were delicious, and she also gave us a few bottles of water. The several cats are well-cared for by the hotel and are very clean.
Now for the cons:
1. Since we drove, the hotel didn't inform us in advance that we needed to register our license plate. So, at the entrance gate, we had to stop and block the road, look for the front desk's phone number to call back, and ask if they could open the gate.
2. I was inspired by the 'hefu' (traditional Japanese clothes) / yukata I saw online. I found that renting a 'hefu' for a whole day cost over 700 yuan. So, I asked the front desk if the room came with a yukata-like garment (the kind of clothes usually provided after a hot spring bath). The hotel front desk replied that there were only bathrobes in the room, no yukatas. So, I left disappointed. When checking out, I opened the wardrobe near the entrance and found three yukatas on a tray under the two bathrobes.
3. Not the hotel's problem, but ordering takeout was inconvenient. The delivery driver told me I needed to take a taxi to get into the resort area, and the round trip fare of 20 kilometers cost 76 yuan.
Overall, I was indeed quite dissatisfied this time. I hope things improve, especially since it's a hotel next to Disneyland.FromSGD 205

The hotel room facilities are good, with everything that should be there. The smoking area outside is also very beautiful. The breakfast in the morning is very good, it is self-service, and there are freshly made noodles to eat. If you are thirsty, you can go downstairs at any time to have some drinks and fruits, which are all included in the hotel package. Why the deduction? Like many reviews wrote, the water in the pool here is really too hot. It is the hottest of all the hot springs in Shanghai that I have been to. It feels too hot. I saw that several children could hardly soak in the water for a while. I don’t know why so many people complained. I saw that the management was still saying in the comments that it met the hot spring temperature requirements. What they said is that your water is too hot, and they are giving you suggestions. I rarely write hotel reviews but this one is a true hidden gem! My partner and I stayed for one night and we used this guesthouse as our little getaway from the busy center of Shanghai. It’s perfect for a romantic and cosy staycation, very quiet and private! The water in the private hot spring, surprisingly, comes from a real underground spring so it’s quite hot. Because it’s summer, we had to wait for it to cool down a little bit but it was perfect later on, especially during the night, we stayed in there past midnight and it was amazing. Over 20 years ago, I watched the Jin Mao Tower being built, becoming one of Shanghai's iconic landmarks of that era – truly a golden age of economic growth. This time, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Jin Mao (I remember it used to be called Jin Mao Hyatt). From the ground floor entrance to the lobby on the 54th floor, it exuded old money charm. The staff were well-trained and professional. The facilities in the room had a vintage feel, and the fully transparent washbasin was a pioneering design for its time. Standing by the window, I could clearly see the distant IFC, Oriental Pearl Tower, and the Bund architectural complex across the Huangpu River. The grandeur of old Shanghai can still be vividly imagined through the Peace Hotel. Many hotels ask if you'd like your luggage sent to your room, but the Peace Hotel doesn't. From the moment you arrive at the entrance and say ”checking in,” your bags are taken care of all the way to the walk-in closet in your room. If you get lost inside (like I did), don't worry about not finding help; staff members are everywhere, proactively approaching you to ask if you need anything. For my birthday🎂 this year, I chose to stay at J Hotel Shanghai Tower🏨. Firstly, it's the highest hotel in the world, and secondly, I've already checked off two of Shanghai's 'Three Sisters' hotels – Park Hyatt and Grand Hyatt Jin Mao – so this time I absolutely had to experience the tallest one🏨.
A day before check-in, the butler called☎️ to discuss my room preferences. Knowing it was for a birthday, the hotel arranged a small birthday cake🎂, a card, and some fruit🫐🍇 in my room, which was very much appreciated😊.
The room itself is quite spacious, but the view felt a bit ordinary. There's a noticeable distance between the room and the outer glass, and due to the double-layered glass, the city lights at night appeared rather dim. For sunrise🌅 and sunset🌄 views, you can head to the Tian Zhi Jin restaurant on the 120th floor, where the view is much better👍.
The bathroom features a double vanity, and there's a TV📺 above the bathtub🛁 so you can watch while soaking. The shower room has a long bench design, suitable for elderly guests🧼. All the toiletries are Diptyque, which I really like, and the hairdryer is a Xiaomi. The walk-in closet is also spacious enough. In the mini-bar, everything except the liquor🍾, chocolates🍫, and snacks is complimentary, and you can even take home anything you don't finish! There's also a capsule coffee machine with three different coffee☕️ flavors to choose from, and a wide variety of tea bags.
The turndown service was excellent; a bathmat and slippers were placed by the bed, and two bottles of water were left on each side of the headboard. Each room comes with a mini iPad to control services, lighting, and curtains. I particularly loved the square room key card and asked to keep it as a souvenir when checking out✌🏻.
Breakfast is served on the 101st floor🍽️. I found a window seat and enjoyed a leisurely meal. It's a semi-buffet style; you can order from the menu or help yourself from the buffet. The selection is very rich, and the freshly squeezed juice bottles are beautiful😻. Both Chinese and Western breakfast options are generally well-covered😌.

Later, when I wanted to book the hotel's fitness center, front desk staff Mia immediately helped confirm the reservation and informed me.

This was my first stay at the W Hotel, and in my opinion, the night view from W Shanghai – The Bund is unparalleled – truly the best you can get for a view of the Bund, bar none. The rooms here boast a unique, massive curved floor-to-ceiling window. The trendy, nightclub-like vibe is also signature to the W, making it feel much younger and more vibrant compared to other hotels, definitely appealing more to a younger crowd.
The hotel features three distinct bars, and I highly recommend the breakfast – it's genuinely excellent, with a wide variety of cuisines available. I booked a Wonderful King Room, and rooms ending in '10' generally offer the most prime views. Plus, I received a 500 RMB voucher for the YEN Chinese Restaurant and another 500 RMB voucher for the spa. They even offered a late checkout until 2 PM, which made it an incredibly good deal. Is the perfect hotel if you want to stay near Hongqiao station or the airport and it has plenty of dining options around and things to do. The line 2 takes you straight away to the city center and to PVG airport if needed, but bear in mind that PVG airport is very far from here. The hotel breakfast is well balanced with many options, both local and western. The service, gym, pool and amenities are on point. Spacious rooms, nicely cleaned and comfortable. Definitely will come back next time I stop in SH again.FromSGD 113
