5-Star Hotels in Sichuan, China

On a long family road trip, I personally prefer staying in a five-star hotel. They tend to be more reliable than those 'five-diamond' rated hotels you find online. While these hotels might have older facilities due to their age, the hygiene, service, and food are consistently excellent! The price also isn't overly expensive, offering good value for money. Just a small suggestion: the breakfast could offer a wider variety of Chinese dishes; the stir-fried large chunks of carrots were quite disappointing!

Pros: Very comfortable stay. I loved having a sofa to lounge on, a table to eat at while charging my devices, and a conveniently located luggage rack. The rain shower had excellent water pressure. They even provided a Dyson hairdryer and an iron, which was a nice touch. The large floor-to-ceiling windows were beautiful. The air conditioning was perfectly set and didn't need any adjustments – it's great how new everything felt. Cons: Having to switch elevators to get to the room was a minor inconvenience, but the hotel entrance and the building are separate, unlike some high-rise hotels where you might run into tourists, so I guess it's acceptable. The delivery robot was incredibly slow; it took longer than if the delivery driver had come directly to the hotel. Also, despite being on a high floor, there wasn't much of a view yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing the city develop in the future.

The hotel's landscaping was beautiful, and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the gate to the Wuyou Wharf boardwalk next to the pool was locked, requiring a detour. After my river cruise, I could see my room but couldn't get in. I walked around in the blazing sun for a while before the butler finally picked me up in a shuttle bus at the exit. Butler Xiao Li responded to WeChat messages very quickly, answering all questions promptly and providing timely shuttle service.

So glad we chose this forest hotel; it really added a unique touch to our trip. It's located deep inside Zhongzhagou Valley, which is already stunning. If you're not in a rush to get to Jiuzhaigou, you could easily spend a few extra days here. There's even a hiking trail behind the hotel if you're into that. We were incredibly lucky and spotted wild rabbits on the lawn in the afternoon, evening, and early morning! The hotel also offers dining, and there are ******* restaurants in the village. However, you'll find more options down the mountain, which is only about a fifteen-minute drive away. We had to leave after breakfast to head to Jiuzhaigou, but we definitely could have stayed another day to explore the surrounding scenery.

The hotel's scenery is exceptionally beautiful, with a Chinese-inspired design and blessings extended to every guest. The courtyard is adorned with crape myrtle, pomegranates, and magnolia flowers, creating a sense of abundant beauty and prosperity. Flower-lined paths lead to picturesque spots, making every step a delight, and allowing one to forget all worries and simply immerse in the moment. The public hot springs are spacious, available both indoors and outdoors. The rooms are private villas, some with their own hot spring baths, and the温泉 water is natural radon spring water. The front desk managers, Helen and Li Yilin, were very attentive. I would definitely choose Fairmont Chengdu Hot Springs again if I have the chance; it must be even more beautiful in the autumn. This was a wonderful trip.

During my trip to Jiuzhaigou, I stayed at a few different guesthouses and hotels, and Conrad was one of them. As an established hotel, their service standards are consistently high – everything felt well-organized and reassuring. It happened to be my child's birthday during our stay, and when I mentioned it to the front desk during check-in, they immediately gave a teddy bear to my child and later sent a small cake to our room. My child was absolutely delighted! I wasn't too fond of the local food, so one evening we all went to Hilton for their buffet. I heard they're part of the same group, so getting there was easy – we just took the shuttle bus. At the hotel's cultural and creative store, I bought some incredibly delicate prayer wheel charms for only 15RMB each. I bought all the ones they had to bring back as gifts for my family. The hotel room also had a fireplace, and turning it on at night created such a cozy atmosphere. The bedding was incredibly comfortable; I fell asleep very quickly in bed, which greatly eased my anxiety and fatigue from usually having trouble sleeping in unfamiliar beds.

This hotel is perfect for families with kids. The two rooms are spacious enough, and the location is excellent, making it easy to get anywhere. The hotel's robot delivery service for takeout is also fantastic! Sometimes ordering takeout to the hotel is even cheaper than buying it myself from the store, and the robot delivers it right to your room door, which is great!

This time, I brought my parents to Chengdu. It was their first visit, and I felt a lot of pressure, worried they wouldn't enjoy themselves if the accommodation wasn't good. I chose the Four Points by Sheraton Chunxi Road mainly because it's right next to Taikoo Li. We could walk back to the room for a rest after just a few steps, which is very convenient for older people. When we checked in, the young lady at the front desk noticed my dad walked slowly and proactively arranged a room close to the elevator. She even gave us two extra bottles of water. She thought of this detail before I even had to ask. The room wasn't huge, but the layout was comfortable. My mom said it was ”bright and airy” as soon as she walked in. From the window, we could see the bustling Chunxi Road, and when the lights came on at night, she stood by the window for ages, taking videos to send to our family group chat. My mom was most satisfied with the breakfast. She's not used to Western food, but she found white congee, side dishes, steamed pumpkin, and freshly made *long chaoshou* (wontons). She ate *chaoshou* two days in a row, saying the broth was delicious. My dad, on the other hand, was fixated on the view from the 45th floor. Every day, he'd sit by the window with his coffee, watching the crowds below, saying, ”This is what Chengdu is all about.” There was a small incident. On the second day, my mom felt a bit carsick and unwell, so I went downstairs to ask if there was a pharmacy nearby. The young man at the front desk immediately drew a map, marked the pharmacy's location, and even reminded me which intersection had an overpass so we wouldn't have to climb stairs. Later, when my mom felt better, she insisted on going downstairs to buy a panda plushie for my niece, saying she couldn't have bothered them for nothing. On check-out day, my dad waved and thanked the young lady at the front desk, saying we'd definitely come again next time. I could tell he wasn't just being polite. When traveling with elders, it's not about how luxurious it is; it's about someone offering a helping hand or asking an extra question. This hotel did that, and they did it very naturally, without being forced. So, these five stars are from my parents.

Choosing the right accommodation truly enhances the travel experience, especially when visiting Jiuzhaigou.麗呈別院·四季漫居 (Li Cheng Bie Yuan · Si Ji Man Ju) was a pleasant surprise, primarily due to its unbeatable location. The hotel is right next to the Tourist Center, just a five-minute walk to the park entrance. This means no waking up early to catch a shuttle bus, and traffic jams during peak season won't affect you at all. After a tiring day exploring the scenic area, you can simply walk straight back to the hotel, which is particularly convenient for families. The hotel itself boasts a tranquil Zen-inspired courtyard style, offering a peaceful environment. The room facilities are very new, with smart home controls throughout, including floor heating, air conditioning, and a smart toilet. Given the significant temperature difference between day and night at high altitude, it was wonderfully warm and comfortable at night. The bedding is soft, and the bathroom features a wet and dry separation. The complimentary welcome snacks were a thoughtful touch. The front desk service was attentive and meticulous. They proactively provided tips for exploring the scenic area, and it was a nice bonus to find ice and coffee available at the front desk. Although the breakfast was simple, it was a self-service buffet with a good variety, and the soy milk was especially delicious. There's a large parking lot at the entrance, making parking very convenient. This hotel is highly recommended as the top choice when visiting Jiuzhaigou.

The Xishang Hotel offers an amazing experience with attentive and prompt butler service. The food is made with fresh local ingredients and tastes authentic and delicious. The private hot spring is secluded and quiet, and the environment is tranquil and a great escape from the summer heat. Overall, the stay was very comfortable and I highly recommend it.
