The hostel is really easy to find, right next to the MTR station entrance, and the elevator goes directly up, which makes carrying luggage super convenient. Each room has its own private bathroom, and there are also three common shower areas outside the rooms, which is a very thoughtful design. The rooms aren't very large. There's a shared table and a power strip, but the power strip only has four outlets. So, for a six-person room, you might have to take turns charging your devices. The upper bunk beds might have some white powder falling from the ceiling due to water seepage, so I'd recommend bringing your own clean sleeping bag. The rooms are cleaned daily, so they're very tidy. The owner is very nice and speaks good Mandarin, so mainland Chinese guests won't have any communication problems. If you have any issues, just talk to the owner, and they'll usually be able to help you out. You can store your luggage for just 20 Hong Kong dollars, which is much cheaper than elsewhere! The other guests staying there were all really friendly; you can even team up to explore the city. I highly recommend this place for solo short-term travelers. For Hong Kong, where space is at a premium, this hostel offers the best value for money. I forgot to take photos, so I'll just include a few nice pictures of the Tsim Sha Tsui area.

I can tolerate slightly older facilities, but dirtiness is a dealbreaker. As long as it's clean, I can accept a small space for sleeping. The hotel's location is excellent; there are many dining options just two streets behind it, and transportation is super convenient. Downstairs, you'll find the MTR, airport bus, and many other bus lines. The building itself is quite clean, with no sketchy individuals around, and the room has two security doors, making it very safe. The room is well-equipped, though it lacks towels, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. There's a water dispenser in the hallway providing hot and cold water. The room and bathroom are both very small. I forgot to take pictures.

The Golden Island Holiday Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui is the ultimate ”crash pad” for the budget traveler who cares more about spending money on food than on square footage. Located right in the chaotic, neon heart of Kowloon, the location is absolutely unbeatable—you step out the door and you're instantly swimming in shopping malls, MTR stations, and the scent of egg waffles. The rooms are classic Hong Kong ”cozy” (read: you can practically brush your teeth while lying in bed) and the elevator wait can sometimes test your patience, but for a clean, safe place to sleep that leaves your wallet full for the Temple Street Night Market, it’s a solid gold choice.

The service was good. I can't complain. The place was clean and the beds were comfortable enough. Could be nice to have a small lamp by the bed, but it's not a big problem though. The location is also very convenient when it comes to exploring the city centre. Although, unfortunately it's also very close to a temple/mosque, so be prepared to be woken up in the morning by religious chanting which is quite loud and lasts for solid 2 hours (maybe closing the bathroom window the night before will help). I don't know what the schedule of that is, because I was only there for a weekend right after Christmas, so maybe I was just unlucky with the timing. (Also, I can imagine that it was the same in all the other hostels on that street). Overall, the experience was good. It's a good value for money

Although the room is small, it's very clean. The only issue was a strange smell from the bathroom drain, but closing the bathroom door solved that. The location is super convenient, right in Tsim Sha Tsui, with plenty of food and drink options nearby. The air conditioning in the hotel was loud, but it didn't affect my sleep since I'm a sound sleeper. Overall, for a hotel in Hong Kong, the value for money is excellent. Recommended.

I was very satisfied with this guesthouse. It's located in Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui, which is a great location and also close to the subway, making it very convenient for exploring Hong Kong. Plus, it offers excellent value for money, perfect for solo travelers visiting Hong Kong. The rooms are quite small (consider it a unique Hong Kong experience, haha), but they are fully functional with shared amenities like a water dispenser, disposable cups, and a hairdryer – I never encountered any inconvenience. The soundproofing is a bit lacking; you can hear some noise from the hallway. There are no windows. The owner is African, very welcoming, and provides excellent service; simple English communication is all you need. Overall, it was a very good stay for me personally. I booked a room with a private bathroom; the rooms without private bathrooms looked extremely tiny, just a small bed right inside the door and nothing else. On another note, the cluster of money changers downstairs surprisingly had different exchange rates, and the difference was quite significant... but on average, their rates were much better than street-side shops. If you need to exchange currency, it's best to find the most favorable rate among the shops downstairs. Also, Chungking Mansions indeed has a very diverse mix of nationalities, including many African residents. While there were security incidents decades ago, the building now has surveillance cameras and 24-hour security patrols. Highly recommended for travelers seeking good value! You can experience a 'Kowloon Walled City' vibe, which is also a kind of travel experience! (Just kidding!)

The room was a bit small, but it had everything I needed. All the daily necessities were well-provided. The owner was very enthusiastic and helpful. The guesthouse is very close to Exit D2 of Mong Kok MTR station, making subway travel incredibly convenient! There are branches of Lung Sing Cafe on the way from the subway to the guesthouse, and their food was delicious. I had breakfast there and also bought many pineapple buns and sausage buns. They were all really good!

Clean and spacious. All details provided, instructions were clear. The Inn was near everything: restaurants atm, 5mins to Temple Street, 8 mins to TST. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I recommended this accommodation to my friends.

Both receptionists were lovely. I saw some negative reviews about the blonde one, but she was very nice to me. The room was clean, and I ran into the cleaning lady, who was also very polite. The location is excellent; I was able to walk back from the Hong Kong Coliseum after a concert. I'll definitely stay here again next time I come for a show. It's fantastic!

MM283681****The location is fantastic, right near the Broadway Cinema in Yau Ma Tei. It's not far from Tsim Sha Tsui and West Kowloon, and super convenient for getting to Langham Place, Decathlon, and IKEA. There are tons of shops, a fruit wholesale market, great food places (especially recommend the roast goose spot!), and parks nearby. The quad room offers excellent value for money, with full facilities. It's a popular choice for both travelers and those on short business trips.

GGuest UserThought we thought we would be in a lockable capsule and we were not! The place was as expected - sharing with lots of people - the pods were nice however the electricity was slightly off and every time you plugged something in the lights would flicker. Amazing location and the bathroom provided toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo ect and even makeup remover - however there were only hand towels provided not bath towels.

CChiapanecoSimple and clean place to stay. Fantastic location in Kowloon, near everything on that side. Fantastic wifi. Comfortable beds with curtain. There is hot/cool drinking water. No common area. Guests are mostly mainland Chinese. Be aware of the check-in process before booking!! If you don't already have an active and unblocked WeChat account, I suggest you do not book here. - Host does not respond to Trip.com messaging. Only via WeChat (but not a WeChat account linked to the phone number in the booking confirmation) - To find the WeChat code for check-in, locate ”Tsimshatsui Mansion” on Google maps. When you arrive, find elevator #1 or #2 (see attached map), and go to the 8th floor. Other elevators won't access the room - only use those two elevators! - Once you reach the door, scan the WeChat code, send them a screenshot of your booking confirmation, and within a few minutes they'll send you the codes. (I've attached a picture of the WeChat code.) - Be advised that WeChat is incredibly difficult for many foreigners to set up. It's not a simple app like WhatsApp or Line. You often need to find a person with a mainland WeChat account (not a HK account) to authenticate you, though even that fails sometimes. Don't wait until you're at the door to try to make an account. - Without Wechat, I'm not sure if you can check-in. There was one non-Chinese guest who stood outside for a while trying to set up WeChat, until a kind neighbor happened to pass by and scanned the WeChat code for her. - Host could simply send the check-in codes via Trip.com messaging. It would make their life a lot easier and things incredibly better for non-Chinese guests. I recommend they change to doing this.

YYRMDService: The staff are super friendly. Hygiene: Depends on your tolerance. If you're used to hostels, it might be okay. For those not accustomed to such places, it could be a disaster. Seems like there are long-term residents. *Didn't see any bed bugs or anything like that.* Facilities: The biggest highlight is that the capsule can be locked with a card, but it only has a USB port. If you need a locker, the staff can help you set it up. Environment: For this price and location, it's top-notch. After using the bathroom, please leave the door open. It's confusing to know if someone's inside when the light is on and the door is closed.

Ppaolou27I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel, and while there were some notable highlights, there were also areas where improvement could be made. First and foremost, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any inquiries or needs. Their hospitality truly made our stay more pleasant. The location of the hotel is undoubtedly one of its best features. It's very accessible, with a bus stop right in front of the property and an MTR station just a few steps away. This strategic spot also placed us conveniently close to popular attractions like the Avenue of Stars and a variety of famous dining spots behind the hotel, such as Cheung Hing Kee and Bakehouse. As for the rooms, while they were kept impeccably clean with daily fresh towels and duvets, they were quite small. The bathrooms, in particular, are so compact that it’s impossible to stretch your arms fully inside. Despite the size, the hotel does an excellent job of maintaining cleanliness, with tidy hallways adding to the overall positive impression. Overall, this hotel is a good choice if you prioritize accessibility and cleanliness. However, if you need more spacious accommodations, you might want to consider other options.

GGuest UserThe hotel is relatively old, located in the bustling Chungking Mansions. I booked it last minute during a holiday trip. The building is divided into Blocks A and B, and you have to queue for elevators, which are assigned for odd and even floors. It's very close to the Tsim Sha Tsui East MTR station. If you just need a place to sleep for one night, it's an option to consider. The owner is a Filipino-born Chinese person who runs over 10 different guesthouses. Downstairs, you'll find major brands like Sasa and Watsons, as well as shopping malls. The location is excellent, though the building itself is a bit basic.

GGuest UserGood enough if you’re in a budget and just wanted a place to sleep. There is a person in the counter at the time i checked in (1:15pm) so checking in was easy. They also let me checked in early (2pm is the check-in time) with a discretion that the floor wasn’t vacuumed yet. I was pretty tired so I just checked in already. There’s a provided 2 cotton towels, 2 disposable toothbrushes, shampoo and body cream, 3 indoor sleepers (1 for the room, 2 for the bathroom) electric kettle, hair blower, 1 adapter and 1 toilet tissue. They also have an option to purchase disposable towels in the counter. The toilet also has heaters for both the sink and the shower and there was an AC. There’s a window too. There wasn’t housekeeping during my 4-night stay though. I am a female solo-traveller but booked this twin room to have more space. It was spacious enough and safe. If there are people in the hallway, you can hear them through the room but during my stay, the noises weren’t enough to cause me discomfort. Just normal amount of people getting in and out of their own rooms, and casual talks but not too loud. The city below is not as crowded, busy and loud too. But if you’re sensitive, try to pack some earplugs. The location was great. Just one bus ride away from the airport, no transfers needed. And just a 3-minute walk from the bus stop. MTR station is near as well. Moreover, it was very near to ladies market, there’s a mcdonalds nearby, hashtag B, and other stores. It can be crowded at night though (7-10pm) because alot of young people are there to shop but after that, it’s pretty quiet. As mentioned by others, there were no elevators from floors 1-3 and the room and counter was in the 3rd floor so carrying your luggage was a hassle. There’s also no extended hour stay service so manage your time and expectation. The host reply to queries, but answers short, and that’s okay due to language difference. Overall, comparing to other hostels, this is pretty decent. But please manage your expectations as this is not a hotel.
