Overweight or Oversized Charges (SIN-Korea/Asia):
- Overweight (between 24-32kg): 75 USD
- Overweight (over 32-45kg): 150 USD
- Oversized (total dimensions between 159-203cm): 150 USD
- Oversized (total dimensions over 203-292cm*): 300 USD
*The 203-292cm size only applies to special baggage (sports equipment, musical instruments) that requires prior approval by the airline.
Excess Piece Charges (SIN-Korea/Asia)
Weight and dimension limits of the excess piece follow the cabin baggage allowance, according to cabin class.
- First excess piece: 100 USD
- Second and above excess piece: 150 USD each
🏑️ Special Baggage (Sports Equipment, Musical Instruments, etc.)

Most sports equipment and musical instruments count towards your standard free checked baggage allowance. If you exceed your weight or piece limit, standard excess baggage fees apply.
Sports Equipment
Weight Limit: 32kg (72lb) or less
Size Limit: Total dimensions of 292cm or less
For overweight/oversized sports equipment, excess fees apply. Packing in a hard case is recommended to avoid damage. Motorised vehicles and hoverboards are prohibited from checked baggage due to safety risks.
Examples:
- Bicycles: Must be non-motorised; handle bars fixed sideways, pedals removed.
- Surfboards/wakeboards: fins removed and securely packed in a dedicated bag.
- Hockey/lacrosse: One equipment bag and up to two sticks (bundled together with tape) are considered one checked baggage item.
Musical Instruments
There are three ways to fly with your instrument:
1. Carry-On:
Small music instruments (eg.violins) can replace your standard cabin bag if they fit standard limits (total dimensions ≤ 115cm).
2. Purchase a Seat (Large/Valuable):
For larger music instruments (eg.cellos, double basses, and geomungo) that exceed standard size limits (total dimensions exceed 115cm), you must book a seat via the Service Centre.
The Singapore Service Centre contact is +65 67091127 with 24/7 English/Korean service.
3. Checked Baggage:
It is not recommended to check in your music instrument due to risks of damage.
To check in your music instrument:
- The instrument must be packed in a rigid hard case designed for travel.
- You must also complete the “Limitation of Liability (Musical Instruments)” form at the airport check-in counter.
For instruments with total dimensions (length + width + height) exceeding 203 cm (80 in) and the weight exceeding 32 kg (70 lb), you must either purchase a separate seat to carry it on board or arrange for freight transport.
