Guest UserThe Round Hotel in George Town, Penang, Malaysia boasts an excellent location, allowing guests to walk to some of the World Heritage-listed areas. There are also convenience stores and restaurants right outside the hotel. The rooms are quiet and clean, and the service is patient and thoughtful. The front desk staff even kindly translated relevant information into Chinese for us to read. When I mentioned that my room didn't have a sofa, which was inconvenient, the front desk immediately took me to choose another room until I was satisfied. This is truly a 10/10 service! 👍👍👍 For a hotel priced at just over 200 RMB, it even offers a buffet breakfast, which makes it great value for money.

Daniel AniqI recently had a pleasant stay at the Kingston Hotel in Penang. The location is excellent for exploring the city, and the room was clean and comfortable.
A special mention goes to Sutharsan, who provided exceptional service throughout my visit. He was incredibly professional, welcoming, and helpful with his local recommendations, which truly made my stay more enjoyable. I would definitely consider staying here again!

ewanwanThis is my second time staying at this hotel, and it continues to deliver a consistently comfortable experience.
The room is clean, well-maintained, and designed in a simple, functional style that feels similar to an ibis concept practical and easy to settle into.
The highlight is definitely the bed. It’s soft and very comfortable, and even the single beds are generously sized. The bedsheets feel like cotton, and the hotel provides two types of pillows ,one soft and one medium-firm ,which makes it easy to get good sleep.
The bathroom is clean with proper dry and wet separation, and having a fridge in the room is a nice added convenience.
Location is another strong point. Within just a 1-minute walk, there are plenty of food options, from open-air local stalls to air-conditioned restaurants. Despite that, the area remains quiet at night, which I really appreciate.
The fact that I chose to come back says a lot. Overall, great value for money and I would definitely stay here again

Felicia66The picture in online is quite nice, but the actual staying is quite shocking 😅 When we first enter the lobby, we are impressed, cos for an old shop lot, the lobby is giving a good impression with it's bright lighting and cleanliness. Then we faced several difficulties that we need to highlight for all visitors who wish to book this hotel (for the owner also, I hope you see my review and make some improvement that will definitely increase your customers and rebooking)
1. We changed room for three times. The [first room No. 29] is with a big hole/maintenance door in bathroom ceiling that exposed all the electrical wire which may caused danger to life. Some more got a line of ants all around the room ceiling and floor. The [second room No. 32] is quite nice, bright and comfortable but the water heater is not working with no hot water and the water pressure is so small. Then finally we changed to a good one.
2. The price we paid is for room with window, but I rather don't want cos it doesn't play any purpose except as a decoration, at the same time without curtain! (All the rooms we changed are without curtains) So anyone can look into our room when we have the lights on 😅
3. Super helpful front desk. The owner should reward the Sabahan lady who helps us to change room. She walks up and down to get us a comfortable room. We really appreciate it a lot 🙏🏻🥰 If not, I'll leave a really really bad review here cos we are really tire with all the hassles 😒
4. For those who like to stay upstairs (first/second floor), there's no lift, so you will need to climb stairs. Bringing elderly or OKU, can only stay at ground floor.
5. All the rooms we been to has a common issue -- it's not basic clean 😅 The toilet has urine stain, the bedsheet has 2-3 hairs on it, and the table and teacup are definitely not for use one (I don't dare to use 🤣)
6. The last room we stay has flies and we smashed them onto wall cos we're too tire to wait and change a new room aldy. At least we finally get a room with hot bath water.
7. Soundproof is not good. In the room, we can hear the sound of people talking and passing the hall, and the car honking. For us is ok, cos we are deep sleeper, but for those who are sensitive, I don't think you will get a good sleep here 🤣
Overall, the good things of this hotel:
1. It's budget, so ok lah
2. The front desk is helpful and responsive
3. The overall amenities still ok (available: free filter water, TV with wifi, mirror in bathroom, water heater; NOT available: no toilet tissue, no hangers but it has hanging rack)
So conclusion is, if you're just need a place to bath and sleep, then may consider here. In my opinion, it will not be a good place for 'enjoy hotel time'. So it makes sense for the price paid.
Thank you for attending to us.

YouyangdepaopaoThe family room I booked was quite spacious, but the facilities were a bit dated, and the towels provided by the hotel were worn out. The hotel building has an industrial design, and there's no air conditioning in the hallways. My kids really enjoyed the children's splash pool, and the water quality was quite clean. The hotel service was good, and there was a diverse selection of restaurants. They also offered a free shuttle to the airport in the morning, which was very convenient for guests catching early flights.

SIAUW FIE FIEFirst time at this hotel there and we were very satisfied stayed there.
Hotel is very clean, strategic location, the room is spacious. At the lobby the hotel will offer coffee for customer. Amenities is complete and what I like so much is hotel provide water dispenser and pitcher. We could drink freely, also we could fill our own tumbler if we want go outside. Many hotels now provide that. Small thing but really meant for us as tourist. Also there is a pantry in the room we stayed.
Hotel is very near (maybe 50-100 meter only) from Pasar Lebuh Cecil, many food stall there. I recommend Lum Lay Duck Meat Koay Teow Th'ng. In front of the hotel also restaurant (Fan Table) and bakery shop (Roti Lah). Beside is convenience store Bila Bila.

Guest UserThe location is fantastic, right in the heart of Penang. The airport bus stops at a station just 100-200 meters from the hotel. Penang's old town is also within walking distance, or if you prefer not to walk, there's another station that looks like a container where you can catch the 101 bus, which is very convenient.
The cleanliness gets a moderate rating because I found some marks on the bedsheets. There wasn't any smell, so they were likely washed, but those stains probably needed a more thorough scrub. If you're particular about cleanliness, you might want to reconsider, as I've seen other guests report the same issue, indicating it's not an isolated incident.
The service was quite good; the front desk helped me with change and was very welcoming to guests.

Posted on Feb 20, 2026|Deluxe Room With Partial Seaview
Guest UserThe hotel environment is really nice, facing the sea, and you can enjoy the view while having breakfast downstairs. However, the facilities themselves are quite old. The hot water for showering at night was unstable, and the room lighting was a bit dim. For breakfast, they offer Western, Chinese, and Indian options, but the variety is quite limited.
The night market downstairs is great, and there's a Lotus (supermarket/shopping center) about 500 meters away. Overall, dining options in the immediate vicinity are sparse. There's a bus stop about 300 meters away where you can catch the 101 bus, which takes about 40 minutes to reach the city center.
