Located in Yufu (Yufuin Onsen), Yufuin Santokan is steps from Kinrin Lake and a 4-minute drive from Aso Kuju National Park. This ryokan is 12.7 mi (20.5 km) from Hells of Beppu and 6.3 mi (10.2 km) from Kijima Kogen Park. Pamper yourself with onsite massages or enjoy recreation amenities such as hot springs. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite. Make yourself at home in one of the 13 air-conditioned rooms featuring refrigerators. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Bathrooms feature shower/tub combinations, spring water baths, and complimentary toiletries. Conveniences include phones and electric kettles, and housekeeping is provided daily.

"We went to Fukuoka for Chinese New Year, and since my husband loves hot springs, we decided to stay two nights in Yufuin. The inn's location was superb, close to Lake Kinrin, and very quiet. Just a short walk away was Yufuin main street. We booked late, so our only option was a Japanese-Western style room without a private hot spring, which was a pity and a bit disappointing for my husband. Our 'one-night, two-meals' plan was incredibly filling, featuring what seemed like kaiseki cuisine plus either wagyu barbecue or wagyu shabu-shabu. I'm not really an expert on kaiseki, but I could definitely tell the food was exquisite and fresh. Since we don't speak Japanese, the inn assigned a young, English-speaking waitress to attend to us throughout our stay, which was very thoughtful. As I mentioned, the food portions had many courses, and we were quite full by the end. When the waitress asked if we wanted rice and we replied 'just a little,' she seemed genuinely concerned, thinking perhaps we didn't like the food 😅. I wanted to tell her we were simply already full. As for the downsides, my husband found the toilet a bit far from the sink, especially in the private toilet within the bedroom. The inn also didn't offer laundry service; staff advised us to use the laundromat on the main market street if we needed to wash clothes. In the end, we decided against it and waited until we returned to Fukuoka to do our laundry at the hotel there. Also, I imagine the inn is a traditional Japanese establishment, and the staff are quite principled. We were late arriving due to unfamiliarity with the transport, so dinner was pushed back to around 7:30 PM. They seemed a little displeased but remained composed. On our way back, as our preferred train/bus tickets were sold out, we had to leave earlier. The inn was accommodating with our breakfast time. We initially asked them to reduce the portion for the child and just serve scrambled eggs, but they insisted on serving the full original portions, telling us to eat as much as we could. Their reasoning was that since we had paid, we should receive the full amount we ordered, which we respected. We simply didn't want to waste food. Overall, we were satisfied and really appreciated the Japanese culture and traditional decor in all aspects."

We booked the half-board option, and both the Japanese-style breakfast and dinner were delicious. The onsen (hot spring) facilities were also excellent, and having two private baths available for reservation was a huge plus. Overall, it offers great value for money."

"Baien is truly the best. The private open-air bath and the large public bath are both excellent. (Note: Be sure to confirm the private open-air bath when booking your ryokan stay.) The ryokan is spacious, so walks around the property are lovely. Both breakfast and dinner (kaiseki) are also superb. However, there's no entertainment nearby, so if your sole purpose is to enjoy the hot springs, you definitely won't regret it. I'd love to visit again in winter."

"I chose this ryokan for my first trip with my parents, which I paid for myself. And I think choosing this ryokan was an excellent decision. First off, all the staff members were incredibly kind. They explained every service available at the ryokan one by one, and even though my Japanese pronunciation and other things were probably lacking, they listened patiently until the end. If I asked them to repeat something, they would. They were so kind that it made me vow to be even more polite in return. While I didn't do much at the ryokan, here are a few things worth mentioning: > We did not use a room with a private hot spring bath. 1. **Hot Springs (Onsen)** The hot springs are divided into women's baths, men's baths, and family baths. You can use the family baths without a reservation; just go in. It was written that you only need to leave a sign indicating it's occupied. 2. **Adding Breakfast** You can request breakfast at check-in. They'll ask for your desired date and time (from 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 8:30 AM), explain the price, ask how many people it's for, and if there are any allergies to be careful of. Then, at your reserved time, you'll go to the designated area, and they'll guide you to the breakfast dining area. Breakfast cost 3,300 yen per person. * *After breakfast, which was a delicious kaiseki meal, they hand you a phone and tell you to call them if you want coffee and dessert.* 3. **Taxi Reservation to Yufuin Station** Since we had to go to Yufuin Station early in the morning, I asked at check-in if a taxi reservation was possible. They said they would arrange it if I just told them the desired time, and thanks to them, we had a smooth ride. This service is free of charge. * *However, you need to go to the parking lot to meet the driver and get in.* 4. **Cleaning Time** After breakfast, the staff member who guided us asked what time would be best for room cleaning. I told them my preferred time. This ryokan created so many wonderful memories that I truly believe Yufuin is only worth visiting for this place, if only you have the money and time. Its location is also excellent, right in front of Floral Village and Yuno-Tsubo Street, offering plenty to see. The walk to Yufuin Station is about 1.1km but not boring at all. I wholeheartedly recommend this place! 👍👍👍👍👍"

Our charm lies in allowing guests to relax freely and at their own pace—more than preset schedules or arrangements from the hotel, guests can enjoy their own time according to their preferences. Located in a tranquil rural area, we are highly regarded as a lodging that offers the most beautiful views of Mount Yufu. From our proud top-floor panoramic bath, guests can enjoy breathtaking, sweeping views of Mount Yufu. In addition, there is an open-air hot spring bath where you can feel the breeze blowing through the basin, along with a sauna that has become popular in recent years. The ever-changing, picture-perfect scenery invites you into a moment of escape from the everyday, like stepping into a painting.

"Although it's a little over a kilometer from the station, I highly recommend walking instead of taking a taxi, as the scenery along the way is absolutely beautiful. Cherry blossoms, streams, small bridges, distant mountains, fields, and a mix of Western and Japanese-style houses create a very soothing atmosphere. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The lobby is grand, and the front desk staff are fluent in English and provide detailed information. On the top floor (4th floor), there's an observation onsen. The rooms are purely Japanese style, clean, tidy, comfortable, spacious, fully functional, and offer expansive views of beautiful scenery. There's also a restaurant in the lobby. Many restaurants in Yufuin's Yunotsubo Street and Floral Village close by 4 PM. Personally, I find this natural, unspoiled environment much more relaxing than those famous, trendy tourist spots."

"The room was spacious and beautiful, featuring an indoor garden and a private onsen. The public bath was also excellent, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The hotel is within walking distance from Yufuin Station and close to the picturesque Kinrin Lake. However, there are two points I must complain about. Firstly, a staff member opened our room door five minutes before check-out, seemingly rushing us to leave, and other services felt rushed and hurried. Such incidents shouldn't occur in a high-end ryokan like this. Secondly, I understand that it was Golden Week, a busy period for transfers, so we opted not to use the hotel's shuttle service back to the station. However, when we tried to adjust our plans, there was no flexibility in their arrangements. So, it's a mixed bag of good and bad. The facilities and food are excellent, but the service is just average, which certainly isn't great for the price."

"Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel's location and cleanliness. Pros: - Located right next to Yufuin Station - Surrounded by shops and convenience stores - As a new hotel, the interior was generally clean - The breakfast sandwiches were delicious Cons: - There's no elevator, so getting up and down can be a bit of a hassle. - The staff helps with luggage during check-in, but I have to carry it myself during check-out, which can be quite a hassle. - If you're renting a car, there are plenty of parking lots nearby, so be sure to check the parking fees carefully. (We insisted on using the parking lot right in front, but we were hit with a whopping 80,000 won parking fee. ㅠㅠ) I would definitely stay here again, but I wouldn't recommend it for seniors because the bunk beds are in a bunk bed configuration."

"I stayed here during my solo trip to Yufuin. On the day I checked in, I was playing nearby and accidentally fell into the river. I arrived around 2 PM, earlier than the official check-in time, and asked if an early check-in was possible. They initially said it was only possible at 3 PM. However, the female owner saw that I was completely soaked and immediately guided me to the public bath. She also told me where the nearest coin laundry was and even lent me a pair of slippers since my shoes were drenched. My solo trip could have been very difficult, but thanks to the owner, I was able to finish it healthy and happy. I'm incredibly grateful. If I ever visit Yufuin again with friends or family, I will definitely come back here. Thank you!"

SStellaWMLExtremely close to Kinrin Lake. After strolling around the lake, you can head straight to the hotel to relax and enjoy the hot spring. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and always smiling. The room has two private hot spring baths, one indoor and one outdoor, which is fantastic. The dinner was superb, especially the wagyu beef, which was delicious. Breakfast offered both Western and Japanese options, both very good. If I have the chance to visit Yufuin, Fukuoka again, I would definitely choose to stay at this hotel.

MMinanekoThis onsen hotel exceeded my expectations – it was truly excellent! First off, every room has its own private onsen, offering complete privacy, so you can enjoy a hot spring bath anytime you like! The hotel environment is beautiful, perfect for taking photos. We were lucky enough to encounter snow, which was the icing on the cake! What's more, the room was fully equipped and impeccably clean! Since we visited in winter, it was incredibly thoughtful that there were heaters everywhere, even in the bathroom. We booked the 'one night, two meals' package, and the food was delicious! The dishes were very unique, and you could really feel the restaurant's dedication. Extremely satisfied! The staff were excellent – friendly and approachable, making me feel right at home. Regarding transportation, we originally planned to drive, but canceled our car rental due to the weather. We took the train to Yufu Eki, pre-booked the shuttle with the hotel, and arrived in about 10 minutes! Overall, this is a highly recommended gem of a hotel! I'll definitely be back!

KKa YanA hot spring hotel with one night and two meals. It is very convenient to have a private hot spring in the room. The public bath is relatively small, but not crowded. There was no one there when I went there that morning, and I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring very comfortably. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very comfortable and hygienic. The staff does not speak English very well, but they will try their best to communicate with guests through mobile phone translation and other methods, so there is basically no problem. The food was prepared carefully, but the dinner was not to my taste, but the breakfast was a surprise. There were free popsicles, hot spring eggs and beer. The location is far from the station, 20 minutes walk, but people usually go to Yufuin to visit Yunotsubo Street. If you walk from Yunotsubo Street, it is still okay to walk there in 10 minutes. The check-out time is 12 o'clock, which is good. After breakfast in the morning, you can go back to the room and enjoy the hot spring time in the morning before leaving. Overall, it was a very satisfactory accommodation experience. I enjoyed the hot springs and will consider staying here again next time I visit Yufuin.

凌凌漆Here's a review of my stay: 1. **Location and Amenities: A Quiet Corner with Easy Access** The hotel is conveniently located, about a 7 to 10-minute walk from JR Yufuin Station, making it easy to find while also being away from the busiest commercial areas. Right next door is a Lawson convenience store, and there's a supermarket nearby, which is super handy for anyone who likes to grab snacks and drinks in the evening. 2. **Hot Spring Facilities: Highly Private ”Kashikiri” Experience** This is truly the highlight of the inn! There are 5 private family hot springs (private baths), including both indoor and outdoor options. No reservations are needed; you just check if the light at the entrance is off, and if so, it's free to use. **Tech-Savvy Management:** Guests can scan a QR code with their phone to instantly check the real-time availability of each private bath, saving you a wasted trip. **A Small Tip:** If you're staying in winter, the path to the outdoor baths and some outdoor showering areas can feel quite cold. If you're sensitive to cold, I recommend prioritizing private baths #1-3, which are indoors. 3. **Dining Experience: A Hearty Yakiniku Feast** We opted for the half-board plan, and dinner was enjoyed at a partner yakiniku restaurant. The wagyu beef was excellent quality and incredibly generous in portion. There was even a bonus offer of unlimited alcoholic beverages and plum wine, making it fantastic value for money. The Japanese-style breakfast the next day was also very filling, providing a great start to our day. 4. **Unique Atmosphere: A Paradise for Animal Lovers** The inn has very gentle cats and dogs living on the premises. If you're lucky, the resident cat manager might even appear in common areas or even come by your room for a patrol. For animal-loving travelers, this sense of warmth and comfort is something other hotels simply can't replicate. 5. **Accommodation Details and Recommendations** **Room Space:** The new wing rooms are spacious, blending modern comfort with traditional Japanese aesthetics.

EEleonora Del BianchiWhat a blast I had here!!! I only stayed for one night and now I wish I had stayed longer. It was a Friday so Rio, the owner, organizes a night of games at the public gymnasium for teenagers (who although growing up already have the strength of super-powered samurais) and whoever else wants to participate. I haven't run and wake up with so many bruises since high school! It was really cool how everyone is quick to set the props for each game, we played 4 or 5 games in one hour!!!! It felt like a much longer time, everyone gave their best presence and participation all the time! It seems the other nights he takes everyone for a walk to see the stars, and Tuesdays there's also volleyball. Anyways, he is pretty proactive and creative , so I'm sure there's many variations and possibilities! The living room is very pretty, the sofas super comfortable and the view gorgeous! The bed was very hard :/ this was the only big issue for me. The onsen is so cozy, the water super smooth and instrumental music playing. Delicious! The conditioner smells great! I was a bit worried that they had too many rules, because when I contacted they informed about the need to leave the house everyday from 10 until 16. And that the eating time was very specific: 7:20 in the morning and 7 at night... So I was worried they would be too strict...but there's no need to join the food. I had breakfast and it felt like it would be at the communal dinning of beauxbatons, everyone sitting closeby with identical very beautifully presented meals that come in many quantity but small portions. It is not my jam, but for sure it is special! Some informations could be a bit more clear because they are a bit slow responding. For example they have a pick up time in front of the army at 6pm. I asked info for an amazing lady at the Art Center inside the station, Chika, and she called them. She ended up taking me herself and was the best company I could have found! She is an artist, we went to the supermarket and had great conversation! I recommend going to the art center to say hi to Chika! Lots of love, thank youuu Mountain Mamas!!!

GGuest UserThis hotel is nestled in the mountains, featuring terraced rice fields, which makes for a very relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped; we chose a room type with an indoor onsen bath. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) meals were also good, and I recommend the Japanese-style breakfast. The baths include both indoor and outdoor options, and overall, everything was very comfortable. The only downside was that when we checked in at 4 PM, we were told that the shuttle service for the next day was fully booked, and we'd have to pay for a taxi ourselves (even though there were empty vehicles available). Despite this, I would still highly recommend Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin for an experience.
