"The accommodations are beautiful and the staff are friendly. Home-cooked breakfast seems to have disappeared, but it's not available. Only porridge and drinks are available for an additional fee. The bathrooms are separated by gender and can be used by groups of 55 minutes. You can also access the outdoor baths from within the bathrooms."

"We went to Fukuoka for Chinese New Year, and since my husband loves hot springs, we decided to stay two nights in Yufuin. The inn's location was superb, close to Lake Kinrin, and very quiet. Just a short walk away was Yufuin main street. We booked late, so our only option was a Japanese-Western style room without a private hot spring, which was a pity and a bit disappointing for my husband. Our 'one-night, two-meals' plan was incredibly filling, featuring what seemed like kaiseki cuisine plus either wagyu barbecue or wagyu shabu-shabu. I'm not really an expert on kaiseki, but I could definitely tell the food was exquisite and fresh. Since we don't speak Japanese, the inn assigned a young, English-speaking waitress to attend to us throughout our stay, which was very thoughtful. As I mentioned, the food portions had many courses, and we were quite full by the end. When the waitress asked if we wanted rice and we replied 'just a little,' she seemed genuinely concerned, thinking perhaps we didn't like the food 😅. I wanted to tell her we were simply already full. As for the downsides, my husband found the toilet a bit far from the sink, especially in the private toilet within the bedroom. The inn also didn't offer laundry service; staff advised us to use the laundromat on the main market street if we needed to wash clothes. In the end, we decided against it and waited until we returned to Fukuoka to do our laundry at the hotel there. Also, I imagine the inn is a traditional Japanese establishment, and the staff are quite principled. We were late arriving due to unfamiliarity with the transport, so dinner was pushed back to around 7:30 PM. They seemed a little displeased but remained composed. On our way back, as our preferred train/bus tickets were sold out, we had to leave earlier. The inn was accommodating with our breakfast time. We initially asked them to reduce the portion for the child and just serve scrambled eggs, but they insisted on serving the full original portions, telling us to eat as much as we could. Their reasoning was that since we had paid, we should receive the full amount we ordered, which we respected. We simply didn't want to waste food. Overall, we were satisfied and really appreciated the Japanese culture and traditional decor in all aspects."

"The whole place was so clean and everything was as described. It is run by an older friendly couple. The room was spacious, especially compared to the rooms you get in the city. I didn’t include the breakfast for my stay, but everything seemed homemade and quaint. I used the public onsen and showers during my stay. I went there around 9-10pm and it was empty both nights (the onsen closes at 11:30pm). There is a private onsen that you can book in advance if you feel more comfortable using that. The location was right in the middle, between the train/bus station and the main shopping area, which I found very convenient. It was easy to wheel my suitcase over to the hotel from the train station."

"This beautiful Ryokan is over 100 years old with deep heritage. I like that it stay as it is as if time stood still. So full of character. I was drawn to the onsens featuring beautiful outdoor views. You'll get to enjoy indoor and outdoor onsens here.. You get to try different types of onsens as they switch around. The highlight was the mountain view, the tranquility that some accommodation lacks due to the amount of guests. Here, you see mostly adults, hence irs ideal for people looking for a quieter retreat. Finally I was absolutely blown away by the wagyu beef at each dinner buffet. The Oita beef was of good quality and there was crab legs and so many variety of seafood and Oita specialty. Breakfast did not disappoint. Love the Yufuin milk and the pudding. Service staff was very attentive too. Ideally for non driving travellers. A short walk to the station and kinrin river."

"The hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view from there is worth it. All in all I highly recommend it!"

"The environment here is great. Although it's a bit far, they offer shuttle service, so it's not a big issue. However, I was quite concerned about the cleanliness of the hot spring. It seemed that whenever I moved, a lot of black, white, and gray fibrous material would float up from the bottom of the pool. I even saw distinct small white feathers, possibly from birds? I understand that being in the mountains might lead to some influence from plants and animals, but there was clearly a lot settled at the bottom, suggesting it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned for a while. Many of the restaurant staff were from India or Pakistan, and most of the other guests I encountered were foreigners. The price isn't expensive, and the room is large, but the facilities are a bit old. The room's cleanliness was actually decent, it just felt a bit dated."

"Great place to stay! If you book well in advance, you can get a pretty good price. It includes dinner and breakfast, plus a private onsen. Overall, it's really good. The accommodation is clean and the service is excellent. Just be careful with arranging the pick-up and drop-off shuttle; if the timing isn't right or you don't get confirmation, you might have to walk or take a taxi."

"We were on a road trip and the hotel had its own parking lot, which was very convenient. The hotel's location is great, close to Takachiho Gorge, the shrine, and other attractions. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. It's a really good choice."

"1. This hotel is located in between yufuin street and yufuin station. 2. You can either talk uber or walk , if you choose to walk , it take about 20mins. 3. Remember to pack light instead of drag big luggages 4. Kinrin lake and Yufuin floral village is about 10min walk from hotel 5. Night time is real quiet , good place for resting 6. Check in procedure is all automated , cashless payment require for onsen tax which is JPY250 7. Onsen facility : there are two private onsen and one public onsen. Private onsen will be first come first serve basis . It is a very local family style ryokan onsen with reasonable price . 8. Cleanliness : I’ll give 9.5/10, the room and all facility is clean 9. Room is HUGE 10. Free bread and coffee for in house guest (limited quantity ) 11. Wifi - not really good, this can be improve"

"I don't know if it's because I was staying alone, but the room facilities were really great! The bed was big, there was a sofa, TV, microwave, and fridge! The bathtub was also big and nice! It felt like the largest bathtub I've seen in a Japanese hotel. For this price and room condition, I would definitely stay here again. It's super convenient as it's right in front of the station. You just need to cross one crosswalk, it feels like crossing a small alley... doesn't even take a minute! The surrounding shops close early, and it's a bit far from the main street, so it was nice and quiet at night. Even the shops on the main street all close by 5 PM! However, you might be a bit surprised when you first check-in. You just need to enter the password correctly at the front of the building and go in to check-in. There's no one there, so you might feel a bit flustered. There are stairs leading to the check-in area, so if you have a lot of luggage, I recommend leaving it downstairs, checking in first, getting your room assignment, and then moving your bags! If you get a room on the first floor, you'll have to carry them back down! I heard there's an onsen on the rooftop, but I didn't go, so I don't know. Also, they don't clean the rooms! This didn't bother me much, but they only provide enough towels for one night, regardless of whether you stay for 3 or 4 nights. They tell you to wash them in the washing machine! To use the washing machine conveniently, it's best to shower quickly, start the laundry, and then do other things. Just rinsing, spinning, and drying takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes! Also, unlike a hotel, there are no C-type or USB-type outlets in the room. You definitely need to bring an adapter. It's not like hotels where the power is weak, so I was able to use my curling iron. Since it's convenient to wash towels, I would probably use this place again if I go to Yufuin."
