"I traveled around Kumamoto Prefecture by car. The hotel offered excellent parking facilities, and the staff were incredibly friendly, providing useful local information. From check-in to check-out, the front desk handled everything smoothly and courteously, making it a truly dependable hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable. While the view from the window wasn't anything special, the quality of the hotel's services more than made up for it. The complimentary drink service after using the hot spring and the curry rice were absolutely perfect. This is definitely a place I'd love to revisit."

"Staying at OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts was a truly delightful surprise! The hotel boasts an excellent location, right above a bustling shopping district in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. What impressed me most was the exclusive outdoor viewing terrace – I could sip coffee while gazing at the magnificent Kumamoto Castle, and both the daytime and nighttime views were absolutely captivating. The room design, with its warm wooden tones and modern feel, was thoughtfully laid out, making for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Combining Hoshino Resorts' signature attentive service with excellent value for money, this is definitely my top recommendation for accommodation when visiting Kumamoto. I highly recommend it to everyone! However, there's one thing I need to mention: even when the air conditioning wasn't on, there were constant drafts of cool air, as if cold air was wafting up from the floor. This was quite uncomfortable."

"An excellent hotel. The location is very convenient, a 20-minute walk from Kumamoto Station or a 10-minute tram ride. The reception staff are courteous and attentive. Essential items can be collected on the ground floor. The room was on the very top floor. The beds are large. The cleaning service is excellent, with towels changed daily. Perhaps the only drawback is the lack of sufficient space to open a large suitcase, you have to jostle about to do so. At one point, the room became quite stuffy, the air conditioning didn’t help with the air circulation, and the window couldn’t be opened. I realise this has been done for everyone’s safety."

"The hotel is newly built, so the facilities are quite good. It's also very close to Kumamoto Station on the JR line, and the meeting point for day tours is also inside Kumamoto Station, making its location excellent and transportation convenient. The A-line bus stop right outside provides easy access to Kumamoto Castle and the park. The only downside is the expensive breakfast, which is very limited and extremely overpriced. You'd be better off buying sandwiches, bread, or salad with some vegetables at the 7-Eleven downstairs for just over 1000 yen, while the hotel breakfast costs 1980 yen."

"To be honest, this hotel is located right above the bus station, which is super convenient. You can easily walk to Kumamoto Castle, and shopping and dining in Kumamoto are also within easy walking distance. It's especially time-saving if your next destination is Kagoshima or Hitoyoshi, as Japan's infrastructure has been a bit disappointing lately – the railway is still damaged from a flood and hasn't been repaired, so you have to take a bus! To get to JR Kumamoto Station, it's just three or four stops by tram. A crucial tip: you can't use Tokyo/Osaka IC cards on Kumamoto buses, but you can use them on the trams! 😇😇😇"

"The room was quite spacious for a Japanese budget hotel; I could easily open two suitcases on the floor. The self-service amenity station on the second floor at the front desk was super convenient, with a huge variety of items, including drip coffee and even proper disposable slippers! Having a 7-Eleven downstairs was a bonus for grabbing things. Oh, and the shower pressure was great too. I'm really happy with this place!"

"Having lived in Japan for over ten years, I have to commend this hotel. It far exceeded my expectations. 1. Right outside the door is the largest local bus terminal, making it incredibly convenient to get to the airport, Aso, Amakusa, and Fukuoka. 2. The price is half or even less than half of surrounding hotels. I originally had no expectations, thinking it would just be a cheap place to crash. 3. While the hallway decor looks a bit dated, it perfectly aligns with the MUJI団地 (housing complex) design philosophy. You even use a traditional key to open the door. 4. Although the room has an old-style Japanese business hotel decor, it's exceptionally clean and very spacious. The room design is well-thought-out, making it comfortable and secure to use. 5. Both check-in and check-out at the front desk were handled with meticulous care and polite, professional service. This is something even much more expensive hotels I've stayed at elsewhere often fail to deliver. 6. I stayed here for five consecutive nights and had a great experience. I would definitely choose this hotel again for future family trips."

Facilities: The hotel, built in 2021, is quite new. I stayed on the fifth floor, and they have ice makers and water dispensers, so it's fine even if your room doesn't come with complimentary water. This is also the only hotel where you can add an extra bed and the room is 40 square meters. They even allow luggage storage until my next stay. I've checked with all the surrounding five-star hotels, and they either have small rooms, expensive rooms, don't allow extra beds, or can't store luggage for an extended period. This is truly a major highlight! Hygiene: I have to complain about the hygiene. In room 507, the bathroom sink had no cover, and there were many tiny flying insects inside. I sprayed mosquito repellent here, and it was only when I saw many dead insects at the opening that I realized the issue. My son even got bitten and had bumps on his chest. Environment: It's super convenient, only 150 meters from Hakata Chikushi-guchi. Yodobashi Camera is right across the street, so you can shop 'til you drop! There are also many convenience stores nearby. Service: The breakfast selection isn't huge, but it's fine for a one-day stay. I highly recommend the breakfast coffee – it's very rich.

Fantastic new hotel! We took a 37sm corner room, large for japan standard Breakfast soread is good and delicious. Hotel beds are also the best so.far (for tjis 10days trup Kyushu) location is ver central, food plentiful..only issue we had is carpark (due to the central location and probably due to Golden Week,), no parking anywhere near the hotel and ended up waiting for more than an hr to park at Times parking which cost 3600 yen till next day. Overall, we highly recommend this hote.l

The hotel's front desk service was excellent. They quickly and helpfully resolved a bug with the parking lot access, which was very thoughtful. The room was small, a typical Japanese-style room. The location is quite good. The image shows the information for the hotel's partner parking lot.

Since I had a 7-day JR Pass, proximity to a JR station was my top priority for this trip. The hotel is very close to the JR station, and it seems to attract a lot of business travelers. My initial impression was that some of the younger staff at check-in lacked a bit of enthusiasm. But I let that slide. After getting to my room, I couldn't find the Wi-Fi password anywhere. I went downstairs specifically to ask, and the response was 'in room'. I still tried to figure it out myself first, searching every corner, but still nothing. So I went back down. The older staff member was very friendly and helpful. As soon as she mentioned 'TV', I immediately understood, as many hotels back home display it on the television. She even drew a diagram to explain! Usually, when you enter a room and the power comes on, the TV turns on automatically, and you'd see it. But this time, I had to turn the TV on myself, which I hadn't thought of. It just goes to show that service attitudes can vary among different staff. In Japan, I've always admired the professionalism across all industries, but this was the first time I've encountered such a service attitude from a staff member. Overall, this hotel's proximity to the JR station and its excellent value for money make it worth staying at.

Although they have a private carpark by side of the hotel, there was a parking fee charge of 2,000yen. But you're guaranteed a parking spot if you come back later at night. There are more parking lots in the multi storey carpark by side of the hotel. The hotel is very clean and I think it's relatively new. The front desk reception was very friendly n helpful. They also have a guest lounge on the ground floor next to the reception. Free flow of coffee and soft drinks plus some alcohol choices like sparkling wine. The lounge is open to hotel guests from 3pm to 11pm. They also provide coffee to go. The first 2 pictures is the view from our room. Across the highway from the hotel there's a Daisy & an Aeon supermarket. Very convenient to grab some food n light groceries. It's a good location to be in. I'll definitely be coming back to this hotel.

The room was super clean, well decorated and full equipped. The checkin process was easy. The hotel uses the machine for checking in and out. During my check in, there was a staff to facilitate me with it. The staff was really nice. They provided various amenity kits you can pick them up at the lobby to use in your room.

The location is great, near to the malls and Kumamoto Castle. The room is great, nice street view and rather spacious. The buffet breakfast is fine, and the coffee served is really good. The only problem I was facing is the room temperature. It was a little warm and stuffy without AC, I could not have a good sleep because of that.

The tea cup in the room was not clean, i wish the hotel payed more attention to that. The hotel itself is very close to the station and the breakfasts are good, I've been there twice and each time the food was a little different. The staff at reception desk is very helpful

Convenience location which able to walk to Kumamoto Castle, Shopping Street. If park car at hotel car park and do not move out, a day, extra charges imposed beside the daily ¥1,200 parking fees. So, location can walk, don't walk, drive out 😅

Overall, a fantastic stay! I really appreciated the complimentary drinks and the spacious bathtub in the room. The service was excellent, and I'll definitely be returning for another visit. My only minor critique is that the location isn't the most convenient, but despite that, I found the overall experience to be very satisfactory.
