"A very nice hotel with great facilities. It has a public bath, and there is also a washing machine available (chargeable), so you’ll need to prepare 100-yen coins — about 600 yen for 2 hours.
They offer free coffee, which is a nice touch. The breakfast is buffet-style with a wide variety of local Japanese dishes. I especially enjoyed the tamagoyaki (玉子烧) — I had quite a lot of it, hehe.
The tatami-style room is very comfortable. It’s also convenient to buy snacks or instant noodles/ramen and enjoy them in the room.
Overall, it was a really pleasant and enjoyable experience."

"An excellent hotel. The location is very convenient, a 20-minute walk from Kumamoto Station or a 10-minute tram ride.
The reception staff are courteous and attentive.
Essential items can be collected on the ground floor.
The room was on the very top floor.
The beds are large. The cleaning service is excellent, with towels changed daily.
Perhaps the only drawback is the lack of sufficient space to open a large suitcase, you have to jostle about to do so.
At one point, the room became quite stuffy, the air conditioning didn’t help with the air circulation, and the window couldn’t be opened. I realise this has been done for everyone’s safety."

We had everything we need from the amenities area.

"Location was convenient to reach tourist spots. Room was comfortable, with daily cleanup service. Staff were hospitable, albeit a little robotic (aka just doing their job). They also provide a free Kumamoto postcard and mailing services. Private parking was available at 1,300 yen per day. Carpark staff were professional and more genuine. The elevator style parking lot was interesting. The breakfast spread was of good variety and had small changes everyday, so it’s not boring. However, the staff strictly enforced the food retrieval timings, so better to go early and plate the food you want before they remove the food trays."

"Everything is good. Only surprised fact is the check in and check out time.
We booked two rooms, King Double and Executive King Suite. The double room can be checked in from 15.00hr and checked out before 11.00hr next day which is normal and understandable. For Suite, check in time is 17.00hr and check out time is 9.00hr next day. It seems Suite got inferior benefit than the normal room. You pay more for less in Suite. Understand that it is hotel policy but I never experienced different policy for different room type in the SAME hotel. So, be aware of this."

"The hotel's location is excellent. It's about a 10-minute walk from the Kumamoto Bus Terminal after taking a bus from Fukuoka. The commercial district, Kumamoto tram, and Kumamoto Castle are all nearby and easily accessible on foot. The hygiene is impeccable; you even take off your shoes upon entering the lobby, storing them in shoe lockers on the first floor. The front desk service was superb. We stayed for three nights and changed rooms once, and they immediately allowed us to check in, without making us wait until 3 PM. When we looked lost outside, they promptly provided us with a map, suggestions, and directions. The deluxe twin room, a Japanese-style room, is quite spacious by Japanese standards and elegantly decorated. The washing area, shower, and toilet are three separate, independent spaces. The onsen (hot spring) on the 11th floor is also very clean, with a pleasant environment. Afterward, there are free ice pops and a relaxation area. Free ramen is served at 9:30 PM, which was also delicious. There's free coffee on the first floor, and the breakfast is abundant and exquisite, with a high 'eatability' factor. All in all, I hope to have the chance to stay here again."

"I stayed here for my child's entrance exam preparation.
I had something I wanted to confirm before my stay, so I called in advance. The staff there were very kind, polite, and pleasant, so even though it was my first time visiting the area, I was relieved.
The front desk staff at check-in and check-out were all very pleasant.
The room was clean, and the provided kettle and hair dryer were very useful. There were also plenty of self-service amenities, so I didn't feel inconvenienced during my stay.
The only downside is that the hotel is located along the train tracks, so noise may be a concern for some people during train times (but it wasn't an issue between the last train and the first train, so I didn't have any trouble sleeping in the middle of the night).
I think they did enough to make up for that.

"Staying at OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts was a truly delightful surprise! The hotel boasts an excellent location, right above a bustling shopping district in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. What impressed me most was the exclusive outdoor viewing terrace – I could sip coffee while gazing at the magnificent Kumamoto Castle, and both the daytime and nighttime views were absolutely captivating. The room design, with its warm wooden tones and modern feel, was thoughtfully laid out, making for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Combining Hoshino Resorts' signature attentive service with excellent value for money, this is definitely my top recommendation for accommodation when visiting Kumamoto. I highly recommend it to everyone!
However, there's one thing I need to mention: even when the air conditioning wasn't on, there were constant drafts of cool air, as if cold air was wafting up from the floor. This was quite uncomfortable."

GGuest UserThis hotel is really nice and conveniently located right on top of Sakura Machi mall, so there are plenty of food options and shops for shopping.
Right across the street is a pedestrian street, which is great for walking around. It’s not too crowded, so the atmosphere is quite relaxed.
There’s also a major bus stop right downstairs, which makes it super convenient—especially if you don’t have a car. If you’re traveling between cities, this is likely a main stop you’ll pass through.
For those who drive, you can find parking nearby. The hotel may offer parking discounts at certain locations, but I’m not entirely sure which ones.
The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and smells really nice—feels new and well-maintained. Amenities are quite complete as well.
The bed and pillows were just okay, slightly leaning towards the uncomfortable side. However, the bathroom is excellent, with a separate standing shower and a small bathtub. The room I got was also quite cute, with a small sofa area, which was a nice touch.

The triple room we stayed in was a decent size, but the bathroom drain had a really unpleasant, garlicky smell that I absolutely disliked. The public bath was a bit chaotic and not a hot spring; it had a strong bleach odor. You get what you pay for, I guess. The hotel's partner parking next door had a height limit, and the other partner lots were too far and not much cheaper. The next day, I just parked in the non-partner lot across the street, which was only about 200 yen more for the night.

Wwind0329Right out of the East Exit of the station, turn right and it's just a few minutes' walk. The bus stop is also at the East Exit, surrounded by malls and restaurants, making it super convenient. The front desk staff were warm and polite, and even helped me call to resolve an issue I had at their Miyazaki branch. The room was relatively spacious, and there's free coffee and tea in the lobby. Breakfast was also good. While other branches only start breakfast at 6:30 AM, here you can grab coffee and pastries from 6:00 AM, which is really convenient for travelers catching early trains. Toyoko Inn is always my first choice in Japan – great location, excellent service, good breakfast, and affordable prices. I'll definitely choose Toyoko Inn again in the future.

GGuest UserIt’s the first hotel that I’ve been to in Japan that had a normal check-in procedure through the receptionist rather than a machine, and you’re greeted upon entry. The location is so perfect and considering it’s right next to the train station, I didn’t hear a thing. Also the room for the price was very comfortable and spacious!

We appreciated the hospitality and professional services provided by the hotel staff. For the American breakfast, it’s yummy with various drinks. The hotel also provides free welcome drinks starting at 1600 hrs for guests. In terms of cost effectiveness, it’s ranked highest.

When I asked about sending my luggage to my next hotel, they took my next hotel reservation, handled everything themselves – contacting the next hotel and even filling out the shipping form for me.
Cons: The facilities are quite old. The water boiler is just a small stainless steel cup that you heat up – it's tiny and seems unsafe, I can't understand why they haven't upgraded it. Breakfast was also mediocre; all the fruit was canned.
