"I personally love sleeping in hotels where I can hear the sound of water; it helps me sleep really well, but that's just a personal preference. The staff, an auntie and uncle who are probably both over 60, provided excellent service. I actually prefer older staff members; their work ethic shows a respect for the value of their time, unlike younger people who might be ready to switch jobs at any moment. The hot spring and meals were perfectly aligned with the price!"

"Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!"

"This hotel is quite unique! Because it's built on a hillside, its first floor connects to the fifth floor of a neighboring shopping mall, while its main lobby is on its own fifth floor. The higher floors offer even better views. The lobby entrance faces directly onto the mountains, providing stunning scenery, and the foot bath by the entrance is wonderfully therapeutic. Both large onsen pools have outdoor sections with fantastic views. They are fully equipped with jacuzzis, saunas, cold plunge pools, and massage areas, making for a truly satisfying hot spring experience! Both breakfast and dinner are buffet-style and taste excellent. Additionally, the hotel offers a wide range of complimentary activities. I highly recommend the Mori no Yu onsen facility that partners with the hotel; it has numerous hot springs with diverse styles, and the bathing experience there is even better than at the hotel itself. This was an absolutely perfect onsen experience and well worth it."

"Expensive, but if you're looking for a luxurious hot springs stay, it's worth it. Includes entrance to the nearby Yunessun, which is a quick walk down the street. Bus stop immediately across the road helps with reaching other parts of Hakone easily. I got one without the in room onsen, but there is a public one inside the hotel itself and the room had a balcony with a gorgeous view of the mountain instead. Very authentic hot springs experience"

"🏔️✨【Hakone Indigo Hotel: A Dreamlike Mountain Retreat】 This was my first stay at Hakone Gōra Indigo, and I was truly rejuvenated by the ambiance. The hotel is nestled in a hot spring resort surrounded by mountains; opening the window reveals layers of greenery and distant clouds and mist, as beautiful as a painting. The room design is modern yet elegantly Japanese, and the open-air onsen was fantastic. The spring water was smooth and comforting, instantly washing away a day's fatigue. Breakfast was also incredibly impressive, using fresh local ingredients; you could feel the attention to detail even in the bread and juice. The staff were friendly and attentive, with every greeting feeling warm, making you feel right at home. The overall experience exceeded expectations, and it's worth revisiting, whether you're a couple, a family, or a solo traveler. 💛 The only thing worth mentioning is that the in-room onsen water seemed to be completely diluted; you could even call it a 'fake' onsen. It lacked the typical onsen smell and was essentially just hot water."

"The hotel is located on a mountain, about 900 meters from Gora Station, but with an elevation gain of 120 meters. The mountain road is incredibly steep. The last mountain railway train also departed early. We waited for a taxi for a long time at night, but none came. We ended up taking half an hour to slowly climb up the mountain. For travelers using the Hakone Free Pass and not driving, I strongly recommend arriving at Gora Station in the afternoon to ensure you catch the mountain railway, or download a local ride-hailing app in advance."

"The room was nice and cozy with a private onsen on the balcony. It was a bit of a walk from the train station, which can be quite difficult when you have luggage. I thought it was a bit odd that we had to rent a yukata as it is normally provided in onsen hotels, but otherwise all else was good."

"This hotel offers great value for money. It's my second time in Hakone, and compared to the hotels by Lake Ashi, this one feels much newer. The rooms are quite spacious for Japan, with a 1.5-meter bed and a 1.1-meter bed side-by-side. The toilet is separate from the shower, which is a wet/dry design. The view from the window is also lovely. The hot springs are on the sixth floor, featuring both outdoor mountain-view onsens and indoor ones. The outdoor area also has a single and a double private pool, which is a nice touch. Overall, it's pretty good. The breakfast and dinner are more Japanese style, with ramen, miso soup, sashimi, and sweet shrimp. The mattress in the room was really comfortable. All in all, a great stay. Right opposite the hotel is the Okada Museum of Art, which I highly recommend visiting, especially as a Chinese person. The first floor of the five-story museum is dedicated to Chinese porcelain from various dynasties, with the oldest being a green-glazed阁楼 (pavilion) from the 2nd-3rd century BC (Former Han Dynasty), standing about a meter tall. I won't say too much more, as photography of the artifacts is not allowed."

"I stayed here for sightseeing in Hakone and to visit Yunessun. It's a tranquil ryokan with a small number of guests, so I could enjoy a peaceful stay. The room was spacious compared to a business hotel, very clean, and allowed for a relaxing time. I had already planned to visit an onsen, so the lack of a private bath wasn't an issue. Since there are few guest rooms, the public bath was almost like a private rental at certain times. Even otherwise, it was never crowded, and I didn't have to wait in line. They were accommodating with requests like luggage storage before and after check-in/out. I enjoyed the Yunessun pass and breakfast included. There's no restaurant inside the ryokan, so you'll need to buy food elsewhere. Although it seems to be part of the Yunessun group, there's no shuttle bus. There's a steep slope from the ryokan to the bus stop and to Yunessun, where there's a convenience store, so walking up and down was quite challenging. Furthermore, some parts of the 'sidewalk' weren't properly maintained, and there were few streetlights, so I was almost hit by a car at night, which was scary. I had to use my phone's flashlight to get back to the ryokan (though this isn't an issue the ryokan alone can fix). Location-wise, it's convenient for taking a bus to Owakudani and Hakone Shrine, so I'd recommend it. I encountered other guests only a handful of times, which made me feel like I had the place to myself – I really liked this ryokan. Thank you."
