Setsugetsuka
"The location is great but service a bit normal. Food is ok but not fantastic, good to try"
Fufu Hakone
"Very nice environment and the a wide variety of dishes to choose for a dinner."
Hakone Yumoto Onsen Hakoneji Kaiun
"The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, pretty much what you'd expect from an onsen village: there's a very picturesque river nearby, a small waterfall not too far away, and plenty of places to stroll around. They even have spots with fireflies nearby. The hotel itself is nicely decorated, and the rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable. The mountain view from the window is stunning. The onsen itself is quite basic. There are two open-air baths on the veranda. It was a unique experience for me to lie in such a huge tub! The onsen water wasn't particularly impressive, though. Another nice touch is that you can choose your yukata by color. The last photo shows the shelves where they're kept."
Hakone Yutowa
"A very comfortable hotel to stay. Just bear in mind, check out time in 10am."
Gora-Onsen Setsugetsuka-Bettei Suiun
"Fabulous place and perfect Japanese style hospitality. Great amenities, delicious food, friendly and helpful staffs - can't ask for more for a great holiday in Hakone."
Hotel Indigo HAKONE GORA by IHG
"The Hakone Indigo experience was superb! Our room had a balcony with a private hot spring, so we could soak and enjoy the scenery without even leaving. It was incredibly relaxing. The hotel's viewing areas are cleverly designed, with foot baths next to the scenic spots. Sipping coffee with a breeze and soaking your feet while enjoying the view – absolutely brilliant! The overall environment is comfortable and cozy, making for an amazing experience. Once you're here, all you want to do is relax at the hotel. Highly recommended!"
Hakone Kowakien Miyama-furin
"As we booked quite late, the room we booked did not have in room shower. When we checked in, the reception helped us to change to a room with shower. I appreciated they remember my request and tried their best to fulfil. Staff was nice, easy to communicate. Room and bedding were new and super clean. Other than 2 double beds, it provided an extra mattress for my son, giving us three a perfect restful stay of 2 nights. The breakfast was bakery with coffee / tea / orange juice, simple but definitely sufficient. Onsen was a bit small though and the hotel location was not clear. We entered the hotel phone number in the car’s GPS system but it brought us to another hotel. Since we got there at night, it took us sometime to locate the hotel. Opposite to the hotel was 蓬萊園,there was a beautiful garden inside which was good for morning walk."
Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu
"Beautiful resort in the mountains, surrounded by greenery. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus from Gora Station. Staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. Buffet dinner and breakfast had a large variety of choice. There is also unlimited drinks and ice-cream in the lobby. The rooms are clean and spacious, but the best part is the open-air bath on the balcony that you fill with natural hot spring water at the push of a button."
Tenseien
"We only stayed for one night. This hotel is also used as a 1-day onsen for public so it was quite busy with a lot of people in the public areas and at the onsens. The room was slightly smaller than expected. The buffet breakfast and dinner were ok but nothing spectacular. The area outside the hotel was very picturesque though, and it's only a 10-15 min walk to the nearest station and you will pass all the souvenir shops and little eateries on the way so it's quite nice. Gora Hanaougi
"The worst hot spring hotel I've ever stayed in Japan!!! And it's the most expensive. It should be the worst hotel recommended by Tirp. What kind of collusion is there? The equipment and facilities are old and aging, the room is filled with a strong pungent musty smell, which makes people cough violently and difficult to fall asleep. No one answered the hotel contact number marked on Tirp! It is also very inconvenient to get to the hotel. There is no courtesy at all when picking up and dropping off guests, and the attitude is completely indifferent. It is a world of difference from the hotel I stayed in the day before. Except for the food that is still online, I will give this hotel the title of the worst. In short, the hotel that Tirp strongly recommends on the App is extremely unfriendly and bad behavior."
COCO VILLA Okuyugawara — Private villa by mountain stream with sauna, surrounded by nature
"Tucked into the foothills of Hakone, in a quiet village along Yugawara Parkway, we found this small villa surrounded by greenery and the sound of a nearby stream. But what stayed with me wasn’t the villa—it was us. The kids ran straight to the deck, reaching out to catch the falling cherry blossom petals as they drifted onto the water, arguing over who caught the most before they slipped through their fingers. Someone left the door open, letting the cool air drift in. By evening, we were all gathered upstairs, half-talking, half-listening to the steady rhythm of the stream below. No one reached for their phones. Later that night, we slept with the windows open. You could hear the water, constant and calming, like it had always been there. It’s strange—places fade, but moments like this don’t. The quiet, the laughter, the feeling of having nowhere else to be. That’s what I’ll remember. "
Oku Yugawara Tsubaki
"Exceptional traditional ryokan in Hakone and Yugawara. The thoughtfulness and service of the staff was wonderful in every aspect. Rooms were supplied with traditional robes, comfortable sleepwear, onsen on our terrace and hot spring baths. Kaiseki cuisine was delicious, plentiful and presentation was over the top. This is a beautiful facility with an excellent staff. If you want to experience Japanese culture at its finest you need to come here. Our 4 day visit was perfect and worth every penny. We will be back!"
Hakone Suishoen
"Haha a very pleasant stay here. Staff had extremely good service, private hot tub was why we chose this hotel. Food served was delicious too. The room is pricey but also comes with a few free gifts & some free drinks and snacks."
Hakonenomori Okada
"Great stay and an excellent onsen experience. Look into transportation around Hakone before booking, but there are busses that run during the day."
Hotel Okuyumoto
"Very good hotel service"
Hakone Forest of Verde
"We stayed here for 3 days and it was definitely a very good decision, we loved the hotel and all the amenities, however we arrived a bit late and the shuttle bus was not available but overall we recommend staying here"
Hotel Okada
"The hotel is located a bit out of the way, and without a vehicle, it might be a little inconvenient to reach. It's tucked all the way inside the area. Thankfully, we had rented a car, which made things much easier. On the plus side, the hotel offers free parking, which is a big bonus. The service was excellent — the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We especially enjoyed the hot spring onsen, which was a highlight of the experience. The breakfast was decent, with a good variety of options to start the day."
HOTEL nehako
"Good service,Enjoy."
The boox
Hakone Kowakien Hotel
"The hotel has been recently renovated and is very clean. It's located near Kowakudani, and the hotel shuttle bus stop is behind Gora Station (for the Tozan Railway). After getting off, go in the opposite direction and through the underpass, and you'll find many hotel shuttle buses parked there. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes. The hotel is also very close to the Hakone Open-Air Museum, about a 1km walk, which is quite convenient. I think you need a separate ticket for Mori no Yu, or maybe I checked in after 4 PM? Perhaps I booked too late, as it closes at 7:30 PM. The front desk didn't specifically mention this hot spring. Both breakfast and dinner are buffets. There's a bit of a wait for breakfast, but it's very well-organized. Dinner is served in two shifts, at 5 PM and either 7:30 or 8 PM – you need to book in advance. The hot spring baths are decent."
Hotel Green Plaza Hakone
"It was a nice hotel with helpful staff, but the location is not very accessible. Buffet spead is average and nothing to shout about except the Apple Pie."
Hakone Shichifukuso
"The owner (or manager?) was really nice; they proactively reached out and offered services, and responded instantly online. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path, but the environment is great. The owner even mentioned in our communication that they could pick up luggage from two different stations first, then pick up guests later. They also offered to drive us to a nearby restaurant for dinner at a specific time (6:30 pm) and to a convenience store (Lawson) at 7:30 pm. There weren't many guests, but the experience was excellent, not diminished by crowds. [Would definitely go back!]"
Trip7 Hakone Sengokuhara Onsen Hotel
"The hotel is super clean, which is very important for me as a germaphobe. The staff at the service desk can speak Chinese, and communication is no problem at all. The environment is very comfortable, and you can also soak in the hot springs. It is very close to Taoyuan Terrace, about 5 minutes by bus. Overall , can give full marks"
HESTA Hakone
"Fantastic staff. Very helpful and caring. The rooms are large and clean. Excellent location. Great for getting around and at the end of the day, enjoy the bath and relax."
Sengokuhara Shinanoki Ichinoyu
"The room is very spacious and come with a private onsen tub. We enjoy the stay over there and it is surrounded by trees. The air is very refreshing and we had a pleasant stay🙂"
