"Hotel's about 10 minutes walk by the track on pedestrian walkway from the station. There's a 7-11 across. Quiet area.
Great Onsen with jacuzzi and ishiburo (stone tub) as well as the usual hot and cold pools with sauna.
There's no water in the room but they give each guest a coin for their own drinks at the Onsen.
Every evening til 9pm, there's free sampling of sakes. Last night, there were five bottles and cos there are no staff, you can sample them unlimited! I think I had about 300ml total.
There's free soup but I'd skip them."

"We had a fantastic 2-night stay at JR Inn Asahikawa. The location is unbeatable—right next to the station and Aeon Mall, making it a perfect base for our day trips to Furano and Biei.
Parking is convenient via the mall car park (¥800/night). Pay at reception, and they give you a QR code—just remember to scan it at the machine near the mall door before you hop in your car to exit. The staff spoke good English and were incredibly helpful throughout our stay.
Our room had a lovely view, all the amenities we needed (including coin laundry), and we easily visited Asahiyama Zoo from here. Highly recommend—we will definitely be back!"

"I've stayed at countless hotels during my trips to Japan, and even the old and small ones have always felt worth it. This is truly the first one that I genuinely regret. First, the location. On the map, it doesn't seem far from the JR station, but walking there is a real trek. Whether it's summer or winter, with or without luggage, the path itself is fine, but it's just so far and tiring! Second, the service is very inattentive. I booked a triple room, and I've never encountered a hotel that forgot to make up the third bed! Then, this is an old hotel that was acquired, renovated, and reopened. The overall impression is a bit like a botched renovation project – very makeshift, cobbled together, and carelessly done. They only renovated the parts they want you to see, and for the rest, they just put up a wooden board to cover it up. I booked this place specifically because of the Hoshino Resorts name, and I feel a bit deceived! Finally, the breakfast indeed tastes good, but the variety isn't extensive, though you can get full. If you don't book in advance, you can't add it on the day. If you're just going for the breakfast, I mean, where can't you find breakfast?! (The photos are what they want you to see; imagine the unseen parts yourself!)"

"Across the street from JR Asahikawa station and Aeon mall, which is convenient as a home base when traveling around to other areas. Arrived early and the hotel held our luggage until check-in. The standard double room was snug for 2 people, a bit difficult with 2 large suitcases. The highlight was the authentic and wide variety at breakfast, located on the 12th floor with views of the city and mountains in distance. From soup curry, to poke bowl with salmon and tuna, to traditional breakfast items, everything was very delicious. We enjoyed how fresh and delicious everything was."

"A good option for solo skiing in Asahikawa. After breakfast, head to the bus station. I personally think walking to the OMO7 bus stop (about 10 minutes) is better, as you can board directly. If that's closer, you can go to the station bus stop (7 minutes), but you'll have to wait for the bus. The advantage is you can leave later, but the disadvantage is that it might be full and you'll have to wait for an extra bus or sit in the aisle.
Free chicken curry rice is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7 PM.
New towels and toothbrushes are provided daily. Lotion can be picked up in the lobby on the first floor.

"Due to high demand, our second night was in a smoking room, and it definitely had a strong odor. However, there was a spray bottle on the wall, and after using it, the air quality improved significantly. The hygiene was very good, and the room had amenities like a kettle and a fridge. "Shower had hairs left on the wall and conditioner bottle by previous occupiers when I first checked in. Curtains were a dusty which caused my partner's sinus to flare up. Did not provide much amenities, unlike other hotels in Japan that provide skincare for our stay.
No bottled water provided and when asked, counter staffs directed us to the vending machine on level 17 where they charge a small bottle of water for 150 yen. Ended up having to head to 7 11 opposite the hotel to buy water ourselves. Washer and dryer were a nightmare - washer said that detergent would be automatically added but there was no fragrance. Dryer took me a total of 3 hours to dry my clothes and the dryer felt warm (not hot), and the laundry costed me more than 1000 yen in total and a lot of energy. One of the dryer had a sour smell too. Very limited number of washers and dryers and other customers would leave their clothes in there even though the washing/drying was done, resulting in a long queue forming out of the room. Even though staff saw the long queue, she just breeze past until we had to repeatedly ask her to clear the clothes. Some initiative would be nice. Bed was uncomfortable, as the bed will sink after lying on it for awhile, resulting in us arching our backs and causing bodyaches that woke us up multiple times at night from the pain.
Only saving grace is the location of the hotel. It is directly connected to a duty free drug store and located a stone throw away from a 7 11."

"We decided on visiting Asahikawa last minute and Art Hotel was the only one that truly fitted what we looked for, the pleasant surprise was how they upgraded our room probably because we did a last minute booking and they gave us the triple room instead so we ended up with a pleasant surprise of extra space to pack our luggage’s!
The hotel is super clean and also a convenient stop point to visit outskirts as we stayed in Asahikawa but visited mountains, waterfalls & more!
Parking is a little complicated, it is 2 buildings away and under times, not a big issue as u just need to cross the road to get to it, simply pay 1000 Yen a day, they will stamp your carpark ticket everytime you enter and exit. The only troublesome part would be the loading and unloading of luggage otherwise it wasn’t much of an issue for us.
The city itself has nothing much but the hotel’s restaurant of western mix Chinese modern dining was really good! It is good enough to laze around the hotel & have your meals settled after a long trip.
We would definitely be back for sure!"

"The room was really small and the hotel itself was quite old. There's a hot spring bathhouse on the basement level, which is convenient for showering, and toiletries can be picked up for free in the lobby, which is well-stocked. There's a self-service laundry room on the ground floor; washing and drying are separate, and the dryer isn't very efficient, so plan your laundry time accordingly. The restaurant is on the top floor with a beautiful view, and the breakfast is very rich with daily rotating dishes – they put a lot of effort into it. The location is great, not far from Asahikawa Station, and dining is very convenient with many restaurants to choose from."

Guest UserThis is my second trip to Hokkaido after nine years, and I really loved Asahikawa the first time around, so I made sure to stay there this time, followed by three nights in Sapporo. I originally planned to book a JR hotel but ended up choosing the Y's Hotel across the street, and it was such a comfortable stay! The view was fantastic, and the breakfast buffet was much better than the one at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn where I stayed in Sapporo. Plus, there's an Aeon mall right across from the hotel, so food and drinks were never an issue! 👍👍👍

The breakfast was plentiful and varied. They offered ice cream and probiotic drinks daily, plus free ramen in the evenings. The hotel genuinely cares about its guests with such thoughtful services.
The natural hot spring was also very relaxing; we could enjoy the falling snow on our faces while soaking in the courtyard. We'll definitely stay here again next time.

It is said that it is a hotel that has been in business for more than 80 years. The interior design of the store is very exquisite, especially the hot spring area, which has an ancient but beautiful feeling. The bathrobe prepared in the room is folded with corners after ironing. It is very ritual to wear to the hot spring. The staff's service attitude is also very good and I feel the intention.

Due to frequent JR cancellations during my arrival, I considered canceling my Asahikawa trip. Despite multiple attempts to communicate with the hotel and the platform, and providing JR's official cancellation notice, the hotel's firm refusal to issue a refund was truly disappointing. The hotel itself is decent; its strengths are its direct visibility from Asahikawa Station and the spacious rooms. There's a more famous hotel across the street, but overall, the hotel's facilities are quite old, and the experience wasn't particularly cozy. It's acceptable as a stopover for exploring the surrounding areas.

Guest UserWe stayed in a room with a good view of the farmers fields and distant forest, it’s a great place for walks and cycling. There’s a Seicomart convenience store nearby. The house is comfortable and roomy. The hosts are welcoming and friendly. My suggestion for improvement would be to replace the existing soft sagging mattress and not charge guests for usage of towels.

The location is excellent! Everything I wanted to visit was nearby, plus there are tons of great restaurants and shops in the area. It's also not far from Asahikawa JR station. Choosing this hotel for my first trip to Asahikawa was a smart decision. I'd definitely stay here again next time!

This is a traditional, family-run inn that truly excels in hospitality and personal charm. I booked a room with a private bath; it was exceptionally spacious at nearly 40 square meters, and we had the entire floor to ourselves. Our private bath was conveniently located directly on the rooftop, situated at the highest point of the small hill, offering an amazing soaking experience. The family operates their own restaurant, and both breakfast and dinner were delightful. This was our children's favorite hotel of the entire trip, providing fantastic value for money. They even have a nostalgic 90s-era arcade! It's definitely a top choice for travelers on a self-drive trip. The owner and staff were incredibly warm, enthusiastic, and kind. A huge thank you once again for their wonderful hospitality!
