"First off, this was our second hotel in Sydney; the first was the Shangri-La. (It was clear they didn't offer Chinese-speaking services there.) We booked a king room but were given a twin room, and it was a corner unit with no sunlight. After communicating in English, we were able to switch to a room with some natural light.
Secondly, this isn't a grand hotel in the traditional sense. It's a small annex on the side of a larger building, and the hotel only occupies a few floors (up to the 9th). This means the room layout is U-shaped with narrow corridors. Because the main building has dozens of floors, and the hotel is located at an intersection surrounded by other tall buildings, most rooms don't have expansive views, and the lighting isn't great either (this really can't compare to the Shangri-La, which has amazing views and a very therapeutic outlook from the window).
The room size also isn't as good as the Shangri-La, but it does have its advantages. This hotel is very close to Chinatown; it would probably take 25 minutes to walk from the Shangri-La, whereas it's only a 10-minute walk from here.
Another plus is that the hotel facilities are very new, which my partner was quite happy with. However, I would still choose the Shangri-La next time."
