Capella Sydney

9.6/10
Amazing

Capella truly has a magical quality that makes you never want to leave once you're there. The blond, blue-eyed bellboy was handsome and cheerful, calling me 'Ms. Chen' repeatedly, which made my heart flutter 🥰 (Sorry, I'm a sucker for good looks, but he really was handsome, folks!). I arrived at the hotel at 9 AM and successfully checked in. The legendary welcome snack, Maltesers, was genuinely delicious [shy emoji]. An iPad can handle all your needs, so you no longer have to call to communicate requests... extremely social-anxiety friendly!! All the services were incredibly thoughtful. I fell asleep within 15 minutes of my two-hour spa treatment [crying emoji]. The spa bed was surprisingly comfortable, like a giant air cushion. After the treatment, the therapist put slippers on my feet, placed the bathrobe on my lap, and adjusted the bed to a semi-sitting position, allowing me to change clothes without even getting out of bed [sobbing emoji]. It's hard to believe that among all the hotels I've stayed at during my solo trips, this is the first one that didn't place two pairs of slippers during the turndown service. Every time I see an extra pair of slippers, I get a strange feeling of déjà vu. Personally, I think the breakfast here was quite impressive for Australia, offering both Spanish ham and hot Chinese congee. The service was very attentive and excellent.

Facilities: Well-equipped. Cleanliness: Spotless. Service: Exceptionally warm and welcoming. The buffet restaurant managed to find us a table even though we didn't have a reservation on the night we arrived, which made the kids very happy. It's very close to the aquarium, and the whale watching pier is also nearby. It was a really great stay, and the kids felt the staff's enthusiasm, even trying to speak English, which was an unexpected bonus!

Facilities: The hotel is new and well-equipped. All the in-room amenities are well-maintained and easy to use, making for a very comfortable stay overall. Environment: The environment is excellent – clean and tidy. The surrounding area has all the necessary amenities, and transportation is very convenient, with the subway station just a 3-minute walk away, making it super easy to get around. Service: The service is also top-notch. The staff are warm and professional, making both check-in and communication smooth. They are prompt in responding to any requests, making you feel right at home. The only minor drawback is that it can be a bit noisy at night due to constant traffic, which slightly affected my sleep.

The hotel location is very convenient, right next to the train station and light rail. There's also a lounge where you can relax and enjoy free hot drinks. On Saturday nights, if there's an event at the bar next door, the soundproofing isn't great, but it always ends promptly at 12 AM.

The room is spacious, perfectly fine for two people. It's located near the street, so occasionally there's loud motorbike noise, but other times it's very quiet. The fridge is a bit too cold; the bottled water I bought turned into thin ice after half a day, which was hilarious! The bathroom floor can be a bit slippery, both barefoot and with shoes, if there's water on the ground, so do be careful. The view from the room's window is lovely. There seems to be a small park opposite with a beautiful tree. The morning and evening sun reflects into the room, which is very therapeutic.

Overall, the location and environment were fine. However, when checking out, a staff member at the front desk told us to attach the luggage tags ourselves when we asked to store our bags. I found this completely unacceptable. Even for a four-star hotel, this is unreasonable. Plus, the luggage tags themselves were of very poor quality and broke immediately when we tried to attach them, which was extremely annoying for guests. This service really brought down the whole experience.

I highly recommend the Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour! The overall experience was superb, and the service was exceptionally attentive. The front desk offers Chinese-speaking staff, and a lovely girl from Suzhou was particularly warm and thoughtful, proactively helping with various issues and kindly sharing local travel tips. This makes the hotel very friendly to Chinese tourists. The hotel's location is excellent, backing onto Chinatown and right next to Darling Harbour Pier, making it incredibly convenient for getting around and finding food. Plus, it's a pick-up point for local day tour groups, which makes joining tours very hassle-free. Both the convenience of travel and the service experience are impeccable. For Chinese friends visiting Sydney, I highly recommend choosing this hotel.

Check-in is until 10:30 PM. I arrived at Sydney Airport at 9 PM and then had to pick up my rental car. I got to the hotel around 11 PM. I had previously contacted the hotel via Trip.com to let them know I would be arriving late, and it was no problem at all! The friendly lady warmly welcomed me. She just asked for my ID, then gave me my key card. Parking is free. When you check in, you can park your car for a few minutes to the left, opposite the office. Once you've checked in, you can use your key card to open a gate to park your car. It closes again for security. So, to enter, just hold your card to the right of the office, and the gate will open. To exit, there's a control panel on the right; just press it, and the gate will open. Parking spaces are fine, even for Suzukis. Right next to the parking spots, there's a staircase that leads to your room. On the downside: no elevator. Room amenities: 2 shampoos and 2 conditioners. Fresh towels. The bathroom takes a bit of getting used to. The tiles are in a dismal state, and if the bathroom door is left open, there's a constant light from outside. There's a sink with hot water, but the mirror is to the left of it. A hairdryer is provided. The bed is comfortable and large, easily fitting two people. There's also an additional bed to the left of the window, though its purpose isn't entirely clear to me. The walls resemble a prison. A TV is available. There's a kettle, instant coffee, and tea, along with spoons and cups. Opposite the bed is a large mirror. The air conditioning only works sporadically. Pros: Close to the airport. Free parking, affordable prices. Private bathroom. Aldi is a 20-minute walk away. A few huge spiders (by European standards) visited me in the room ;D Verdict: Perfectly fine for one or two days.

The overall stay experience of this hotel is very good. First of all, the hotel is in a prime location, close to major attractions, with convenient transportation and very convenient travel. The front desk service is warm and friendly, and the check-in procedure is quick, which leaves a good first impression. The room is well-equipped, clean and tidy, and the bed is comfortable, which can ensure good sleep quality. Both the bathroom equipment and the air-conditioning system work well, providing a satisfactory living experience. The hotel's breakfast is rich in variety and delicious, which makes the whole day full of energy.

Perfect stay in the heart of Burwood! The location can’t be beaten—walking distance to Westfield Mall, Burwood Park, and countless Asian eateries. The guesthouse has a charming historic vibe with polished wooden floors, plus modern perks like free WiFi and a coin-operated laundry. The host was super friendly and helped us store luggage after check-out.
