GGuest UserThe hotel itself truly embodies the Capella brand, a renovated old building in Sydney. It seamlessly blends modern design with local culture, doing an excellent job of integrating with its surroundings, making it a benchmark for luxury hotels. We were upgraded to a Skyline Suite, but to be honest, it wasn't as stunning as expected. The suite felt a bit small for a suite, and due to its location, the buildings are quite close together, so privacy might be slightly compromised. Breakfast was decent, nothing extraordinary. Overall, it still maintains the distinct Capella vibe.

We travel extensively and can genuinely say that, although our check-in was pleasant and the rooms are quite nice, the standard of hospitality we experienced at The Porter House was disgraceful.
We arrived at Lee Ho Fook at its advertised opening time of 5:30 pm, hoping to have dinner. The restaurant was completely empty. Despite this, we stood waiting for approximately ten minutes without being acknowledged while staff continued talking among themselves. Eventually, we were told the restaurant was fully booked.
We fully understand that a restaurant may be booked for later reservations. What we do not understand is why two guests arriving at opening could not be greeted promptly, treated courteously or even offered an explanation without first being left standing in an entirely empty restaurant for ten minutes.
We then went downstairs to The Porter Room, where no one acknowledged us at all. With seemingly no interest in serving hotel guests at either venue, we returned to our room and tried to order in-room dining. The telephone was answered only on our second attempt with an abrupt “hello,” rather than any professional greeting or identification of the department.
Unfortunately, the food was even worse than the service. My steak was specifically ordered well done, yet arrived sliced open and visibly red, so there was no possibility that the incorrect cooking could have been missed before it left the kitchen. Both the steak and chips were closer to cold than lukewarm. The salad consisted of a pile of wilted lettuce with a few pieces of tomato and cucumber, accompanied by sauce in a plastic takeaway container.
To complete the experience, our room-service tray was still sitting in the hallway the following morning.
This was not one unfortunate interaction or an isolated kitchen error. We encountered indifference or neglect at every dining touchpoint: Lee Ho Fook, The Porter Room and in-room dining. The most striking element was the complete absence of basic hospitality, no welcome, no acknowledgment, no care and apparently no meaningful quality control.
In fairness, the lady who checked us out the following morning was very understanding and professional. She listened to what had happened and did not charge us for dinner. Her response was the only example of genuine hospitality we experienced after checking in, and we appreciated the way she handled the situation.
However, one considerate staff member at checkout cannot undo an entire evening of poor service and unacceptable food. For a hotel presenting itself as a luxury property, this standard is simply not good enough. Pleasant rooms and interiors cannot compensate for guests being made to feel invisible or for food that arrives cold, carelessly presented and incorrectly cooked.
We travel far too often to spend our time and money somewhere that treats its guests with such indifference. Despite the friendly check-in, the quality of the room and the kindness of the lady who checked us out, we will not stay at The Porter House Sydney again.

Xxinmin limi love how clean it is and how the room is designed for a comfortable stay. the room is exceptionally clean and every furniture looked very new.
other than the location which requires slightly longer than other central hotels, i think the value of this hotel is very high. furthermore, there are direct trains and buses to central areas, so it isn't a big issue.
the real issue is actually food options. though there are nearby options, but the fact that a convenience store is 1 street away and there's no groceries store nearby, sometimes it can be difficult to get food. otherwise, the food at level 1 restaurant has very good options (but short hours).
the reception staff is very approachable and helpful.

AAnonymous UserSurprisingly good! It’s super convenient to get here from the airport, train station, or by bus—no matter how you travel. The light rail station is just a few meters from the front door, taking you straight anywhere. The cleanliness is top-notch. I asked the front desk for a quiet lower bunk, and they did their best to accommodate me. My roommates were also very considerate and quiet. Aside from it being a bit warm and the mattress a bit too soft, everything was great. For luggage storage, there are both paid and free options; the free lockers allow you to use your own small padlock, which made me feel very secure both in the room and at the storage area. A hairdryer can be borrowed from the front desk by registering, to be returned within half an hour. I only stayed for one night, but I never had to wait in line for the shower or toilet—I could go whenever I needed, which was fantastic. They also screen movies every night, creating a great atmosphere. I didn't try the food here, but everything looked very well-organized. A thoroughly pleasant night!

AAnonymous UserThe hostel was conveniently located next to the Central station. Luggage storage was offered before checking in and also after checking out. The room and bathroom were immaculate. There were plenty of restaurants and cafe nearby. Haymarket tram stop was only a few steps away. Since the hostel was located at a busy intersection, it could be noisy from cars and emergency vehicles sirens especially at night.

Bbenlam0608Extremely satisfied with this business trip. It was very convenient to walk to the conference center from the hotel, and even on a rainy day, it was manageable without an umbrella. There are many dining options behind the hotel, and Town Hall is about a ten-minute walk away. The hotel is relatively new, which perfectly suits my principle of choosing newer accommodations over older ones.

However we ask the day before check out if we can get a breakfast box as we had to go to the airport before the breakfast starts (Breakfast was included in our booking). They said it is possible and free of charge. But at check-out they wanted to charge us for it and refused to take it off the bill. Only after long discussion and asking for the manager they took it off. I expect definitely something different from a 5 star hotel which charges 700 euro per night!

BBretRI thought this hotel was great! Friendly staff at check in, the bar and cleaning staff. Rooms were comfy with appropriate amenities for this class of hotel and price point. Breakfast was repetitive, but the taste was good. Our bed was 2 singles pushed together which I think the hotel should think about changing as it was clear when you fell into the crevice between them. Didn’t use the pool or gym because of the weather, but would. Easy access to metro, Oxford Street and other downtown areas.

PPinweizhongdejimoI highly recommend the Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour! The overall experience was superb, and the service was exceptionally attentive. The front desk offers Chinese-speaking staff, and a lovely girl from Suzhou was particularly warm and thoughtful, proactively helping with various issues and kindly sharing local travel tips. This makes the hotel very friendly to Chinese tourists. The hotel's location is excellent, backing onto Chinatown and right next to Darling Harbour Pier, making it incredibly convenient for getting around and finding food. Plus, it's a pick-up point for local day tour groups, which makes joining tours very hassle-free. Both the convenience of travel and the service experience are impeccable. For Chinese friends visiting Sydney, I highly recommend choosing this hotel.

MMichelle HemsinWe had a brilliant experience at the Langham for our wedding anniversary! I forgot how much I like the Langham brand. From the pink ribbon around the toilet paper to the sleep ammenities (we asked for the sleep pillow mist and the room diffuser) to the suggested third eye massage technique and the chamomile tea before bedtime, we felt totally pampered and taken care of. Reservation was made for our celebratory dinner with fine steak dinner over the fantastic view of the Opera House. In room breakfast was delivered on time and the quantity copious. The Spanish bell boy was helpful and friendly. We were also upgraded to a harbour view room to our delight. Location was convenient to walk either to Barangaroo or the Rocks, for ferry ride or metro. Very pleased to have chosen The Langham, it was absolutely the right decision for us!
